The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.
It’s time for #INeLearn so let's get the intros rolling!! Share your name, teaching assignment, and your favorite treat! I will be your moderator for this evening!

Chris from Bloomington. Teach world history for IU High School (private, online). Favorite Halloween treat is Almond Joy. Will be out for part of the chat to read to my kids who still aren't ready for bed. Ugh. #INeLearn

Steve in Valpo, where I teach Alg II to juniors and a freshman Algebra Lab. I'm a long-time chocolate/peanut butter guy in all their possible combinations. #inelearn
Tonight’s format is a little different. Watch for the graphics and prepare to fill your bucket with tricks and treats! We’ll start with tricks! #IneLearn
My name is Patrick Ernst and I am a preservice teacher at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio, but my hometown is South Bend. Favorite treat is definitely Baby Ruth! #INeLearn
Former science teacher & librarian in Indy, now working for @IMLEAorg Currently in Orlando for #AMLE2018 Not a big candy person, but still lover of chocolate. #INeLearn

Hi #INeLearn, Brianna here from @SouthBendCSC. I teach Spanish and am a digital integration specialist. Its hard for me to pick one, but tonight I'm gonna say Tootsie Rolls.
I use @goformative for tons of things. The ability for students to get instant feedback and correct mistakes gets most of them going immediately. #INeLearn
R1 I love using music to set the tone. Ss build Spotify playlists for each period of our day. I use a simple Google form to collect their suggestions. #INeLearn
R1: you have to create an eye catcher for a lesson. With that, I create scenarios in @CanvasLMS. Sometimes I’ll show a video related to my topic via @youtube. I will also have my Ss build background knowledge through @Google searches. #INeLearn
I've got a couple of classes where "music or no music?" is like the second question of the class. And yeah, I definitely tae requests. Extra style points for already knowing the song. Having a freshman son has definite benefits! #INeLearn
Thanks for the reminder. I like to add GIFs to lessons as well. Easy to embed in Canvas and some are educational (GIFs of maps showing changes in control of territory over time, for instance). #INeLearn
This is a fun way to use @RemindHQ. I've done this with our Instagram hashtag. When I get a package in, I'll post, "What's in the box?" They can't wait to find out! #IneLearn
R1: I have a highly curated @pandoramusic playlist with instrumental versions of top 40 hits. I'll offer our mini economy money to Ss that can name the title and artist #INeLearn

R2: @Screencastify to record spelling lists. Currently have 4 going on in my classroom. Ss access through @googleclassroom and take the test at their own pace. #IneLearn
R2: Just a general mindset shift. We don't always have to build super fancy templates or create crazy elaborate presentations to share with students. What if we asked Ss to create instead? #INeLearn
R2) @goformative allows students to get instant feedback (or feedforward). That's why I use it so much. It saves me boat loads of time. Google Forms + Flubaroo will have a similar effect. #inelearn
R2: OK, so you can use rubrics in SpeedGrader on @CanvasLMS. Create the rubric and grade as you read. It calculates the scores for you. If your school allows posting from Canvas Gradebook to your SMS, you are super golden. #INeLearn
R1: Reader's and Math Workshop slides share a description of each rotation, materials needed, and location. No need to take up board space, repeat myself, helps Ss become responsible for learning. #INeLearn
R2) I teach math, so I often want to include images of graphs. I love the screen capture shortcut on chromebooks. It's so much faster than trying to add images after exporting them from desmos. #INeLearn
R2) So many great formative assessment tools out there! My favorites lately are #googleforms I create with tier 2 instruction built in depending on Ss answers and on the game front... #quizzizz#INelearn

R2 #INeLearn@quizlet. No more class time working on vocabulary study guides. It's on Quizlet - put it on your phone and study when you can.
These are great questions!@T_Copple
R2: I’m really a fan also of sharing anything @Google because I can provide feedback and check to see if the Ss use my suggestions and correct their work. #INeLearn
🙌🏽🙌🏽 Yes!! Just conferenced with EVERY S in my class b/c of @googleclassroom and the ability to live-time provide feedback to Ss on their writing. #INeLearn
R2: I’m really a fan also of sharing anything @Google because I can provide feedback and check to see if the Ss use my suggestions and correct their work. #INeLearn
And if you have a specific format of material you want to do... let’s say you have a video you create with @WeVideo, you can have it in SpeedGrader playing and do the checkoff. #INeLearn
R2: I just started using @Calendly for teachers to sign up to meet with me and it’s been a game changer! Of course I also couldn’t live without @GoogleKeep and the collaborative aspects of the Google suite! #INeLearn
R3: love using Blueprint in @CanvasLMS for pushing content out to multiple teachers within same content. Used this for @LTeCampus Summer School this past year. #INeLearn
R3) #googleslides + Make a copy for each student on #googleclassroom meant I could create lessons in slides, share them out with the Qs I wanted to ask but with the expectation that everyone answers them because they have their own copy of the slides. #inelearn
R3 The ability to be mobile with our tech. To go outside...go on scavenger hunts...etc. GAME CHANGER. I don't think we take advantage of this enough. #INeLearn
R3) When I learned Spanish it was handwriting thousands of flashcards. My Ss have no idea how easy I have made it by providing study sets in #quizlet right at their fingertips. Never lost, never chewed by the dog, and curated by your T if they're nice like me 😎 #INelearn
R3: My Valpo U. pre-service teacher caught me on this one: I keep the @Desmos Activity teacher dashboard on my iPad while the student view is on my whiteboard. That way I can be mobile, check student work, look for trends, stop to comment. #INeLearn

R3) con'd... And as the T I know I have provided them a tool they can use everyday. I can rest assured they have the words and hold them more accountable. #INelearn
R3: another trick I like a lot is using @google translate to convert to different languages within Docs. I have a Vietnamese S and two Spanish speakers in the same class. I can translate quickly for them. It’s not “perfect”, but pretty close. #INeLearn
Q4: What’s your best techy trick for organization? It can be anything from managing devices to workflow! Be sure to focus on a method rather than a tool. #INeLearn

For real. I bumped into a new Vietnamese exchange student last month who needed help finding a classroom. We had the whole conversation on our phone screens through Translate. #INeLearn
R4: @googleclassroom has their new topics and I organize each subject by a topic and assignments are given numbers so students can easily find it in the list. #INeLearn

A3 Reader Viewer in Safari, Creating folders in Notes app, Drawing and audio features in iWork apps— basically all updates in iOS 12 @AppleEDU#INeLearn
R4) I take serious pride in the organization of my #googledrive. Better labels and folder management = less time searching and more time creating and interacting #INeLearn

R4: Sometimes my Google Drive gets a little messy, so I am super thankful for the search feature :) To really answer the question though, I'll say that I love using Slides bc of built in navigation to help the learning flow. H/T to @micheeaton#INeLearn

R4 using less paper and less books is my method for staying organized. Also allows more room for toys to occupy my tables instead of stacks of paper. #INeLearn

R5: Dont forget about @googleslides Master Slides option. I use it to create complex backgrounds that I don't want Ss to mess up, and then add text boxes to the slide once I've selected the master slide. #INeLearn
R4: I use special characters to name my folders in GDrive so they stay at top. I’ve also set up a weekly to-do list on Google Keep. I use the check boxes and click “uncheck all” on Friday to start all over on Monday. #INeLearn

R5 I switched to a new app for our stopmotion projects, and I am in love. So many great features built in like green screen and more. One stop shop w/ #StopMotionStudioPro. #INeLearn
R5) Slides captioning. When I do whole class instruction, which isn't often, I tend to get excited and talk fast. The text on the screen will be helpful and also remind me to slow down. #INeLearn
R5: It's not exactly new, but I'm a huge @Desmos Activity fanboy and I've really just scratched the surface of what I can do with it. So awesome for making student learning visible and thinking collaboratively. Plus, not just for math anymore. #INeLearn
R5) The best new thing I've done just in the past few weeks is using #googleforms to create differentiated reviews and practice for students using multiple sections. I am also working on making differentiated PD for staff this way but we will see 😬 #INeLearn
R6: Recently I've made a lot more use of the "publish" feature on Google Docs. Since it makes an instant webpage, it sometimes comes in handy when I'd rather have a link for people to access instead of a download. #INeLearn
R6 Here it comes...FlipGrid. You know a chat can't go by without seeing this one. HA. Seriously though...I pair it with all of our video formats which makes it unique. Loving all the new features and my students just can't get enough. #INeLearn
R6) Twitter. I doubt an explanation is needed for this crowd. Other than that, most #google tools because they are so versatile. This includes the #EquatIO extension, which is free for teachers. #inelearn

R6) G Suite has my whole heart. Classroom and the whole gang are so easy to use and play nicely with most other things I use. I am growing very #googley#googleedu#INeLearn
R4: OMG! Totally forgot about how I'm using #googlesites to create my digital maternity sub "binder" full with ALL the resources my sub will need to keep doing what I'm doing. #INeLearn
Q4: What’s your best techy trick for organization? It can be anything from managing devices to workflow! Be sure to focus on a method rather than a tool. #INeLearn
Have I mentioned @InsertLearning?! I also love the eye dropper extension to help me check for web content accessibility and loom video recorder! #INeLearn
Screencastify, Save to Google Drive, AdBlockerPlus, Mercury Reader, OneTab, Extensity, Flipboard, Pocket, Diigo, AutoTextExpander (great for text you use all the time), Nimbus screenshot, Kami, Bitmoji. #INeLearn
R6 I go through spurts when i forget about it but when I use it - the feedback from students is very positive... @nearpod keeps Saying engaged and encourages more blurting out loud. #BlurtingIsLearning. 😂 that's what I tell my son's teachers 😂.
#INeLearn
R7: The Google Docs add on to quickly add @creativecommons licenses to our work AND all of the things that help us design for function over simply making things pretty. We have to follow the rules to break the rules, folks! #INeLearn
A7) I really like SnagIt. I bought it a few years ago (educator price was upper $20s, I think). It does a lot - you can even make GIFs with it. #INeLearn
R8: #GoogleSlides I've found a new love for it. The linking ability to different slides, I've taught Ss how to create an index, an upcoming project has Ss creating a "phone" for an explorer, all using slides #INeLearn
R7: Instant eyedropper or any tool that allows you to identify colors on a website. These are super handy for developing training materials and resources! #INeLearn
A7: @Newsela , GeoInquiries (https://t.co/m5C24eeEiT), and Google Tour. These all are great for student engagement that is aligned with the C3 framework! #IneLearn
W/U: I need to do a better job of getting student feedback/doing formative assessment, so I'm feeling GForms, Screencastify, Flipgrid, anything where a student can drop some quick thoughts on me & I can collect and respond with support. #inelearn
