Howard here. Math science SF Bay Area. I like to cook or build stuff. Or sleep. Or play video games. Or watch movies. Not sure what a bidep game is? #tosachat.
A1: Write and speak! I love to do both, and that shows on the blog and podcast. Wish I had more time to write, but the podcast replaces that. I am also a voracious reader, which helps keeping up with EduTrends and new Books. #TosaChat
Howdy #tosachat, Pam Rabin from San Diego & @SanDiego_CUE here bumpin’ in tonight. Inst Tech Resource Teacher for SDUSD, What’s this free time you speak of? If I had any I’d be swimming 🏊♀️ or cycling 🚴♀️.

Happy Monday #tosachat crew! Kimberly, Instructional Coach, Maui, Hawaii . Free time? Wow, first jump for joy, be in shock AND go to the beach (or movies) or, or, or.....
A1: I feel like I am strong in public speaking and in wordsmithing. I'm constantly up in front of others or editing/writing for work right now. #tosachat
A1) Good ol’ @padlet for brainstorming and presenting. I used it as a personal note space for ideas and evidence collection or to crowdsource ideas and invite new thoughts. #tosachat

Skill I am working on. I say um way too much. I tend to stick my foot in my mouth at some point too. I do love giving PD though. I just need to know when to stop talking. #tosachat

Les Dinerstein from MoVal, California Teacher of 9th and 10th grade English and my answer to the first question is humor. I find making the kids laugh at something either silly or stupid can start the class off on the right foot. #TOSAchat

I, too, stick my foot in my mouth often, but usually it's when I'm amongst people I'm comfortable with. I do need to do better with thinking before I speak, but I have a strong presence so that outweighs the dumb stuff I say sometimes, right? :) #TOSAchat
A1) Empathy & understanding that you don’t have to be a tech ninja to be doing great technology integration, everyone starts somewhere and I’m going to meet you where you are #tosachat
A2: My co-worker @seolson55 is very linear and helps make my visionary work more approachable and clearer. We make a great team. #TOSAchat#strengthbasedEDU
A1: I’ve found that a strength of mine is reflection. I often pause to reflect during a project to assess my progress. I also reflect after a project all the time. #TOSAchat

A2: @annkozma723 has unbelievable energy and passion! I wish I had half her energy and a quarter of her great ideas!
Also, @TechMikeBUSD has a great patience with both the littles & me! He reminds me that not everyone can go quickly, and we will all get there! #tosachat

A2: So many talented people that I work with, hard to narrow down one. Virtually, I would say the entire PLN. The sharing of resources and positive reinforcement is incredible. In the work place, I would say Katie Beaman. She is a ray of hope and sunshine. #TOSAchat
A2: I have 2. Our 3rd grade T does some great hands-on experiences w/ ag and science. Our 6th grade T does outstanding work w/ multi levels in math. I'm learning from both. #GrattonRocks#TOSAChat
A2: The principal I'm working with, @glopez1874, has a great talent for getting Ss to tell the truth. He can totally tell when a kid is being deceitful. I believe everyone and I have a hard time pushing the truth out, but I'm learning. Bit by bit, I'm learning. #TOSAchat
A2: Totally admire @MistyKluesner & @Cre8ingArtNC14’s artistic talents! Learning a lot about art & thinking creatively, working with both of them this year. #TOSAchat

A1: Hard working & willing to try new things to improve my craft. Growing professionally as a life long learner. Sharing what I know with others. #TosaChat
A2: Organization, systematic, fundamentally sound teaching and a learner. They would be my wife @Gina Kiyuna. I team taught with her one year! We’re very different. #tosachat
A2: my fellow tosas and I all share a room. United by our why to serve teachers and students, I learn from them continuously regardless of content area. #tosachat
Q2) @julieinsd I admire her ability to speak eloquently off the top of her head, I’m one of those who needs comfort & lots of practice to make sense @Claudjavo tells it like it is! I admire that too! #tosachat

A2:Speaking of time - not enough to list here. From #tosachat folks- @Jyoung1219, @KarlyMoura & @cogswell_ben who do not hesitate to offer help, resources, et al (even if we never met).

A3: with my students (teachers) I find that listening is a great way to find talent and passion. If you can tap into those, your job just got easier, and learning for them isn't such a chore! #TosaChat
A3: I try to do a different varitey of assignments whether storyboarding to game board design. I want the kids to have fun and explore topics instead of being told to just sit here, read along with the audiobook, and now take this test. Oh good job. #TOSAchat

Q3: it’s obvious but overlooked: listening to them think and reason and questioning to understand, not to get an answer. @TLAMath that was one of my biggest takeaways this year. #tosachat
A3: When I was in the classroom, I would 1) talk to Ss and get to know them; 2) observe them, and; 3) provide my Ss with choices for how they wanted to show their learning. That always showed me their talents! #TOSAchat
If I had Ss who played sports or were in shows, I would always go to at least one game or one production. It was so telling to see them in that different light. #TOSAchat
I taught sixth grade and had the students all day. I built relationships with the kids, not dished out discipline. I listened to the kids. This all sounds cliche, but sooo true. #tosachat
I have learned more from the Twitter PLN than I ever did in school or in PD. Twitter has allowed me to connect to different educators from around the globe in a way that I never though possible. #TOSAchat
A3: One year, I started the year with BOARD GAMES to watch for #StrengthBasedEDU talents. One kid exclaimed, "Sorry I'm being so loud...my ADHD gets the best of me when I'm competitive!" #TOSAChat
A3: Getting down to their eye level and making contact with them. Taking time to ask questions and listen...then when talking through learning points, I connect back to their interests #tosachat#strengthbasedEDU oh and of course there is @thrively ask @drtriciahyun#fsdlearns
Q3: it’s obvious but overlooked: listening to them think and reason and questioning to understand, not to get an answer. @TLAMath that was one of my biggest takeaways this year. #tosachat
We would be here for awhile listing people. Have you read @techcoachjuarez or @kat_goyette blog or work? They are both doing incredible work and sharing it. The Twitter PLN is incredible source of learning. #TOSAchat

I sure hope so. I even went to a 6th grader's birthday party one year because he invited me, and why not? It was fun. He was such a sweet little kid. #TOSAchat

A3) You can learn a lot about students just looking at what they do and how they do it, not what they don’t do. When we know where we want to go, any road can get take us there. Look for where your student are and help them find the path that gets them to the next place #tosachat

Yes! I love to spend times with my kids outside of the normal school day. It’s amazing whatba big difference is made by giving up a little time. #TOSAchat
Right? It's really just about making those connections and building relationships-- with Ss we teach/taught in the classroom and with the Ts we serve now. #TOSAchat

A2: There are so many technology, #STEM, and #MakerEd Ts that I look up to and admire for their creativity, ingenuity, & innovative practices. #TosaChat
Something as simple as going out to play with the kids during recess was awesome. I got to meet future students and see my own students outside the classroom. #tosachat
Here is an example of the incredible PLN of Twitter. Duane posted this from last week and I thought it was out of the park homerun. I would have never seen this without the magic of educational Twitter. #TOSAchat and thanks Duane again!
Love that! When I was in elementary school, our principal would play kickball with us every day. He would pitch. None of us has ever forgotten that. #TOSAchat
A4: Can’t just narrow down to one. Vision, equity, project management, change management, strong work ethics, and follows through with all her tasks. #TOSAchat

Genius Hour requests: 2 sushi chefs, 1 Adobo cook, 3 coders, 2 authors... That’s just 1 of my classes. Opportunity to find talents. So much fun. #tosachat
A4: I would have to say in @MorenoValleyUSD at Canyon Springs High School that our principal (Tamara Kerr) caring for kids is right up there with rockstar status. Everything she does is to put kids first no matter what. #TOSAchat
A4: Listening, slowing me down, and setting my on a sail-able course Thanks for the leadership @EWCSD_Supt even though you are no longer my boss #TOSAchat#strengthbasedEDU
A4: The ability to lead when he needs to and take a back seat when necessary. Not to mention knowing I have trust to make decisions when I need to. @Simonometry#TosaChat
A4: knowing her strengths & not being afraid to ask when she doesn't know something! She relies on us for the details, this allows her to keep the big picture in mind. This really emboldens us to be better at what we do because we feel like as asset #tosachat
A4: I went to a training last Thursday about the vision for the future & they brought in many people from many areas & really listened to our input. Listening & valuing are 2 big ones. #tosachat

I'll play soccer with the Ss when I'm out on supervision. If I tried playing basketball I would just embarrass myself (and my daughter, who is actually quite a baller) #TOSAchat
Yes! And this is why I enjoy the part of my job that includes coaching, too. Plus, I get to know Ss music tastes and more thru various means. Also, why I'm sad I'm skipping our 8th grade ski trip. #eduawesome#adventure#TOSAChat
Something as simple as going out to play with the kids during recess was awesome. I got to meet future students and see my own students outside the classroom. #tosachat
Students at my first school loved our student staff basketball game. We would always let them think they’ll win & then as lunch recess was about to end, we’d pour it on #TOSAchat
A4: She's a great mediator across the board. T to T. T to S. T to P. T to herself (A). Again, I must mention listening. She listens and she hears. #TOSAChat
I think we need to be good listeners to be in the education game and not listening to what comes from the top, but what is coming from the students right in front of us. #tosachat
A5: Social awareness. I seek to foster that in others and myself. To be aware of each other’s needs and compliment each other’s skill sets - not overshadow them #TosaChat
In reply to
@TosaChat, @cogswell_ben, @EdTechAri, @KarlyMoura, @kmartintahoe, @peerlessgreen
A5: patience, I'm getting better, but not fast enough ;P Things come in time and sometimes in my rush check off all the boxes, I forget that not everyone adapts at the same pace. Slow and steady, dot the "i" and cross the "t" #tosachat

A5: I wish to foster my learning of the k-12 vertical alignment in my district & find ways to reach each teacher where they are. #teacherstruggleisreal#TosaChat
A5: Have you seen @JakeMillerTech instructional GIFs? I think they are the future. Heck, I think Jake should write a book on how to use them in the classroom. The program he uses is $200. I want to learn how to make them and use them effectively to help the kids. #TOSAchat
A5: Fostering more opportunities to be #StrengthBased by starting at my talents and moving from there. So, I suppose "Reflecting" would support that, too. #TOSAChat
A5: Havenʻt found THE way yet but encouraging, fostering vulnerability & the willingness to take a leap, a chance a designed risk. Bottom line - encouraging LEARNING & the fact that I am NOT an expert. (Co-learner, if you will) #tosachat
A6: Patience. That’s something I’m struggling with right now as it relates to some outstanding inquiries. Patience to know the answer(s) will come. #TOSAchat

I spoke about Adam and Kat and here Kat goes and shares with us tonight. #TOSAchat I love our Twitter PLN. #BetterTogether Check it out guys, when you have the time. :)
A6) I have a pretty good talent for failing...lots of experiences carefully planning those out 🙄...so that I have the ability to laugh at myself and fail forward. I’ll probably need to continue to support this is the future #tosachat
A6: I want to take each GEM that @judyblakeney gives to me and "Pay it Forward" to someone else. Thank you for teaching me about #TOSAChat night. What an amazing way to connect, share, and grow!
A6: I want to continue to share the goodness of my PLN, to pay forward all the goodness I get and point others to the notion of #bettertogether#TosaChat That is part of the reason we podcast!

A6: I think I need to be more open to share the resources I have acquired and the skills that I have developed. I will admit to keeping to myself at school to grade and focus 100% on the kids. I need to get out more and connect with other adults to share. #TOSAchat
I understand. I had a similar reaction to something today and my boss told me something I’d like to pass on to you. Remember to silence that critical voice in your head. Share your truth. It makes more of a difference than you know. #TOSAchat
