Hello #scitlap I teach mainly 8th grade physical sci in Rensselaer, NY. I had a student tell me how much she appreciates me and my awesome class. That was followed up by a boy telling me how much I suck.

A2 This week I need to send out my review packet and look over the Common Final we give. I like to have June all planned out before Memorial Day. We have full days all the way till June 22nd #scitlap
I've tried a couple times giving my Ss the learning target & asking them how could they represent that? I let them make the menu, they liked the choice & put more into it #scitlap
This is a struggle for me, especially the prompt part. I need to find some tricks of the trade. At the beginning of the year, I tried doing it on the spot, but kids just have so many needs, I end up saying Ill do it later. #scitlap

We got rid of the big binder for professional status teachers. Most people put a few artifacts on our digital platform Teachpoint. It has been way toned down since we first started. #scitlap
A5. Can always grow in all areas but I am great at curriculum and getting better with assessment since switching to standards based. I still need to get better at planning. I had to lose pieces of units this year. #scitlap

I enjoy connecting ideas & making things accessible to a very wide range of skills and interests. Rigor is my challenge. My cohort is a scientist at & reminds me that engaging them is impt at this age. #scitlap
A7 Differtiation can happen many different ways. I don't like it when I feel like advanced kids just do more work. I need to find a balance for that. #scitlap
I hate the word rigor. I don't know why, but it makes me picture learning as stiff and boring. I know that's not what it means, but the word is ugly. #scitlap
A8 I'm using my answer as a question. I'd love my school too have a Facebook page. I think it would really engage parents (virtually). Anyone have experience with a school FB? #scitlap
A8 I am great at more passive parent engagement (website, getting unit tests signed, sending home learning journals) and need to be more proactive with individual parent communication #scitlap
We have a facebook page. HW and other announcements are posted there. Not a catchall tho. I think Ss use it more than their parents sometimes. #scitlap
