#CUEchat is both a weekly Twitter chat and an ongoing conversation across social media that connects CUE members, resources, and new ideas. Each week is powered by a unique voice.
More info can be found at http://blog.cue.org/cuechat/
So tonight we are going to try something a little bit different. We only have one question prepared and we will let the convo develop. You can drop ideas as they formulate in this doc - to help facilitate that! #cuechat#wearecuehttps://t.co/KqP9QK9is8
A1 Relationships. Curriculum changes. Tech changes. Admin changes. Relationships should be the rock with which you build any foundation in knowledge. Definitely relationships (and bad jokes) #cuechat
A1) The tech will come & go, but the people who want to come together in the spirit of learning, sharing, & making the student experience better...THAT will endure. #cuechat
If you'd like to drop your twitter handle in to the contributions in the doc that would be awesome!
As we chat tonight please drop your ideas into this doc!

A1: Relationships and methods for global connections need to remain. Just the fact that CUE spans two states but yet we are able to have this convo is what CUE is all about and this will only get better over time! #cuechat#wearecue
A1) The focus should remain our students. That is what makes CUE great. The educators at CUE are always looking to improve all aspects of our student's lives. #cuechat
A1: relationships are important and collaborations between you and your colleagues. Listening to our Ss and their needs. Education is like always changing. #cuechat
A1: So not going to be original here because it’s totally accurate. RELATIONSHIPS are key to anything we do. Teaching, coaching, or life in general. #CUEchat
Relationships seem to be a vital element for everyone - Thx @judyblakeney for adding that to the doc!
So, How are relationships benefitted or damaged by the changes in tech? #cuechat#wearecue
Amen to that! Student learning and creating unique learning opportunities for teachers and students is definitely what drives CUE and CUE experiences #cuechat
A1) Experiences endure. Kids will always remember what they did, what they were immersed in, not what they filled out, bubbled in, or copied down #cuechat
A0: Missed the question? Dang it! BUT, I will go with “What is Field of Dreams?” It’s also the look I give and get most days when things are going “swell...” #wearecue#cuechat

So, How are relationships benefitted or damaged by the changes in tech? #cuechat#wearecue
A: Relationships are enhanced by tech because it allows for geographic boundaries to be torn down. It damages relationships if tech is the only way one is connected to the world. Face to face interactions and convos are better when possible #cuechat

Brings us closer together and can tear us apart. Brings us together by creating means to make it easier to communicate. However, it can create division for those resistant to it or when miscommunication between people happens #cuechat
Q2- Relationships benefit from tech by become anytime and anywhere connections. In real time or asynchronous. The drawback can be losing the personal layers of face to face communication, a skill some kids still need to practice in a safe space. #cuechat#wearecue
One area tech has enhanced this year for me is on demand professional learning. Communication methods such as blogs, vlogs, and podcasts have helped me grow. Tech has given platforms for people to share, learn, and grow from each other #cuechat
A2:Tech bridges the distance problem with relationships which is wonderful. The problem can be that sometimes, especially our kiddos, seem to get all of their self worth from their online interactions. Having conversations around digital citizenship is extremely relevant #CUEchat
A2: it just depends on how you use the tools. There is always a balance and we need to make sure we are teaching our Ss this. Ss need to understand the power of technology. More positives than negatives #cuechat
A3: I imagine that learning will be out of time and place...and can happen any time any where. People will still need to connect to learn. What will they connect with #AR#VR#cuechat#wearecue

I wonder if a Ready Player One environment existed would we be more connected, and would people choose to look like themselves or would we all choose to be other? #cuechat
A3: I would hope that human interactions never really leave the experience process. I love virtual field trips but they should never fully replace personal interactions when possible #cuechat
Q3b) All the easy problems have been solved...or won’t be solved by an engineer plugging away in a room by themselves. Whatever it is, I imagine it will be more collaborative, more experiential, and more personalized at the same time. #cuechat
When I first got my iPhone I was very polite when I spoke to Siri - because I was speaking to "her" like I would a person. Now I'm not. Has that affected, in turn, how I speak with people? #cuechat#wearecue
Getting to the good stuff in Ready Player One. Does make me wonder if being so connected would force us closer or be the invisible barrier that keeps us apart? #cuechat
Interesting thought. In RPO, Wade’s best friend is someone he has never met, but has a relationship with online. I see that as some of my fav peeps I only see every 6 months, but interact with on twitter all the time #cuechat.
Thanks Eddie for adding Global Communication to the Doc! @Simonometry
Q4: Do we as people only have so much capacity for relationship? If I am connected to hundreds of others does that dilute the relationships I have? #cuechat#wearecue
This is exactly what that NPR article focuses on. How kids internalize talking to “alexa” or “Siri” and whether they are understanding that it’s not a person. Great read. #wearecue#cuechat
I can see how in Wade's experience it makes way more sense to connect with OASIS since his IRL sucks. How many of our students feel the same way now but with no escape? #cuechat
Yes! Agreed! Does meeting someone face to face enhance the online relationship? I happen to think it does. Knowing that I’ve met just about all of you IRL definitely improves my interactions with you guys! #cuechat

Nah, politeness and manners were “instilled” (beaten) into me in my formative years. But becasue I know she is just dumb AI (which reflects the user not the tech) I go kinda primal. It’s more fun #cuechat
A4: Good question! I think it depends on the context of the interaction. Being closely connected to educators through twitter makes it easier to maintain relationships because we are all talking in similar circles #cuechat

I think this comes down to time. Do I have the time to put into fostering and growing these relationships? Only one thing is fixed for us all: time #cuechat
I guess this leads us to @KatieJMcNamara 's contribution to the doc about unconditional kindness. Thx Katie!
If we keep that in the forefront, whatever the future holds will be awesome! #cuechat#wearecue
There are actual add-ons you can get for Alexa that make her not respond unless the phrases “please” or “thank you” are used int he request! #cuechat#wearecue

From Article:
"One of the big concerns is that people tend to be impolite with the devices, Severson says.
"You can yell at them and scream, 'I don't like that song, skip ahead!' And the devices just respond in the same way as if you're polite," she says.
