Teachers are always growing through twitter chats like this one, Facebook groups, blogs they read and write, and anything they do to continue to acquire knowledge.

A1 As teachers we should be learning as much, maybe even more than our students. Learning OUTSIDE the classroom AND alongside our students INSIDE the classroom. #HackLearning
A1: To stay relevant Teachers must be learners just as we expect our students to be learners....always hone your craft, if you stop learning, you stop growing!!!! #hacklearning
Hi #hacklearning friends! Lena Marie joining from a VERY cold MA. It says -5 and wind chill makes it even lower! Great day to stay inside and #Read4Fun
A1: Teacher as learner means we never stop learning. There's always a deeper understanding, another angle, or some more knowledge to gain. #HackLearning
A1 Just like our students needs to see good models for reading, they also need to see quality models of living like a learner. It's important to share our journey with students. #hacklearning
"Teacher as Learner" means modeling the lifelong learning that we wish to see from our students. Consuming, interacting, and producing content in a wide range of fields. #HackLearning
A1: Someone who imparts knowledge to others, but recognizes that continuously having knowledged imparted unto themselves is vital to maintence and growth. #hacklearning
A1 Every day, scientists make discoveries, history unfolds, artists create new work. The science of learning grows. Our students themselves change. How can teachers stay the same? #HackLearning
A1:My greatest Teachers have often been my Students. Most powerful moments have been when Ss teach creating a true community of learners.
"A great teacher is someone who can learn from his students, who can learn with them, and learns for them."- Robert John Meehan #HackLearning
A1. Teacher as learner is being on an upwards spiral. It involves constantly reflecting on one's practice, driven to ask more questions of yourself and your Ss. It takes time, practice, and admins that encourage it. It's HARD. #hacklearning
A1: A school is a LEARNING community--teachers, students, admin, parents. When one of us stops learning & sharing the whole community suffers. #hacklearning#TMGenius
Q1: It means that learning is embedded in this profession. Teacher training cannot prepare you completely. You have to incorporate new research and techniques into practice. #hacklearning
A1: I would hope that all teachers got into teaching because they love learning! Learning about their subjects, their students, life in general. Everything is more fun when you're curious! #hacklearning
A1: Teachers who view themselves as life long learners make better Teachers and in turn make better Students instilling those same values. 👩🏻🏫🍎👩🏻🎓👨🏻🎓
"Your life as a teacher begins the day you realize that you are always a learner."- Robert John Meehan #HackLearning
A1: Teacher as Learner is ultimate modeling for Ss. Being transparent about it helps show that it's always a process. We keep learning so that we can continue to grow as teachers and human beings. #hacklearning
A1: Teachers are learners also mean that Teachers are learning from everything around the, be it the students, their colleagues, books, PD, social media, they take it all in and process what works best for their students #hacklearning
A1 When teachers commit to be equally as curious as their learners! Honor all the questions! Talk through your process. Respect that everyone has a different process for gathering, managing, and holding onto new information! #hacklearning
A1 As we model learning for kids, we also have to model NOT KNOWING. They need to see how we seek information, search, collaborate and refine our thinking along the way. #hacklearning
A1: Teachers should show, to students, that they are learning right along with them. Teachers also need to explore their own learning so that they don't become stagnant. #hacklearning
Teacher as learner - this is really a critical mindset. If we want students to discover HOW to learn, instead of just WHAT to learn, educators should be modeling our personal learning journeys. #HackLearning
A1: Teachers as learners also means that Teachers are learning from everything around them, be it the students, their colleagues, books, PD, social media, they take it all in and process what works best for their students #hacklearning
A1 Teacher as learner for me means learning from those you teach. Provide rich experiences that promote deep thinking for both Ss and Ts. #hacklearning
A1: A realization that we must grow everyday - learning from Ss and colleagues & stepping out of our comfort zone to take risks for learning #HackLearning
A1. Teacher as a learner means just that learning every minute of everyday from their amazing PLN, PD, resources, taking risks, putting themselves out there.... just read these amazing books and took a HUGE leap and put up my #observeme in the hall 😊#HackLearning
A1-It means never being the “keeper of the answers” but demonstrating different strategies so students can see and learn to find their own answers. #HackLearning
A1: Being a learner means never accepting the status quo. Learners seek out new ways and create or assimilate new strategies. They look for opportunities to share and bring others along. #HackLearning
A1: On top of continually developing pur craft, we also have to keep an open mind as we learn with & from our students, co-teachers, and PD participants. #HackLearning
A1 inquisitive abt how children learn and practices to support, invests time in deep prof study, values social learning community as collab learners, willing to try out new pedagogy, efficacious #HackLearning
Can your students tell that you are a life long learner? Showcase your own intellectual curiosity by sharing thinking, reading, and conversations from your life. #HackLearning
A1- Morning! Kelly from Hilliard Schools in Ohio! I’m lucky to be a Literacy Coach! T as Learner is not being afraid to go on the journey with your S’s-knowing it’s OK to discover together. Not having to know everything! Letting S’s lead you and their peers! #hacklearning
A1 Teacher as learner for me means learning from those you teach. Provide rich experiences that promote deep thinking for both Ss and Ts. #hacklearning
Great point! We have to be comfortable with saying "I don't know." Excellent opportunity for Ss to learn how to take advantage of other resources and learn that it's OK to not know...if you do something about it. #hacklearning
A1 Teacher as learner for me means learning from those you teach. Provide rich experiences that promote deep thinking for both Ss and Ts. #hacklearning
A1 I love having students choose their own research topics. I tell them that I want to learn too - not just read about the same topic. Originality and creativity helps create interest. It’s ok to tell Ss that you don’t know... #HackLearning
When asked if they have any questions, some Ss jokingly reply, "What's the meaning of life?" I respond saying it is to learn and to teach. We do both even when we're not trying to. #HackLearning
A1: Being a learner, not accepting the status quo, pushing the boundaries of our potential is what feeds one's passion and enthusiasm for what we do.
#hacklearning
A1 being reflective. Learning to me is about reflecting and making connections. Teacher as learner is about embracing change. Never accepting status quo & always seeking to push the boundaries of possibility. #hacklearning
A1 When teachers commit to be equally as curious as their learners! Honor all the questions! Talk through your process. Respect that everyone has a different process for gathering, managing, and holding onto new information! #hacklearning
Can your students tell that you are a life long learner? Showcase your own intellectual curiosity by sharing thinking, reading, and conversations from your life. #HackLearning
A1: Someone who imparts knowledge to others, but recognizes that continuously having knowledged imparted unto themselves is vital to maintence and growth. #hacklearning
A1: Talk to students about your own struggles with learning. Model for them that learning doesn't always come easily, but it's worth it and rewarding. #HackLearning
I agree- T’s model how they learn- a life long gift the T gives their S’s! We all need to be ok with learning alongside our S’s- letting go of control is hard- but so rewarding!#hacklearning
A1 As we model learning for kids, we also have to model NOT KNOWING. They need to see how we seek information, search, collaborate and refine our thinking along the way. #hacklearning
A1: In addition to constant professional learning, teacher as learner means teachers that realize they don’t know it all and that they can learn a lot from their students if they provide the right environment for it. #hacklearning
A2 - Learning strategies that improve retention of material in the classroom and provide students with better study practices than simply rereading and/or highlighting. #HackLearning
Love the use of reflection. This is so often lost in the educational process where people feel pressure to move on to the next thing. Reflection = Learning. #HackLearning
A1 being reflective. Learning to me is about reflecting and making connections. Teacher as learner is about embracing change. Never accepting status quo & always seeking to push the boundaries of possibility. #hacklearning
Let’s also allow our students access to the tools and methods we use to seek information. Too often students are discouraged from using tools they’d have access to in the workforce (Google, Calculators..) #HackLearning
#HackLearning I think the reason teachers who are always learning have something that is hard to measure or pin down but is essentially is that they have positive forward momentum.

Q1. Teachers as learners are in charge of their own learning like students. Don’t wait for PD, find out how to inspire learning by learning. #HackLearning
A2 So much to learn in 2018.... I want to learn more about coding, the role media plays on young children's learning, how to knit and what I want to be when I grow up. #hacklearning
A1 Being a learning is about being curious and exploring new pathways. I agree with @kristinziemke about modeling for Ss. Let them see how you control your own learning. #HackLearning
A2: In 2018, I want to learn more about quality #edtech coaching and how to reach more teachers. I want to learn how to help students discovery their "why" and the tools that can help them realize their dreams.
#HackLearning
A2 I want to learn more about how the brain works to impact learning & how I can utilize that to use/create/design lessons that maximize st learning #HackLearning
This is hard for some as the thought is the teacher holds all of the knowledge. Need to let go of that thought to keep a passion for seeking new knowledge. Keep sparking curiosity. #hacklearning
A1 As we model learning for kids, we also have to model NOT KNOWING. They need to see how we seek information, search, collaborate and refine our thinking along the way. #hacklearning
A2 So much to learn in 2018.... I want to learn more about coding, the role media plays on young children's learning, how to knit and what I want to be when I grow up. #hacklearning
A2: Some learning goals I have for the new year are how to give effective feedback and use formative assessment in the classroom and how to go deeper with my 8th graders in their blogs! Also, I started a cooking class!! :) #hacklearning
A1 A "Teacher as Learner" mindset can reinvigorate an educator's purpose (WHY we do what we do). It helps make learning (not teaching) the goal. #HackLearning
A2: I want to learn everything I can....no ceiling....personalized learning, empowerment, equity, in other words upping my game for my students futures!!!! #hacklearning
A2 My #OneWord2018 is create.. I’d like to learn about more ways to share content (Blogging, inforgrpahics, sketchnotes, hyperdocs, Flipgrid) #HackLearning
A1 Every day, scientists make discoveries, history unfolds, artists create new work. The science of learning grows. Our students themselves change. How can teachers stay the same? #HackLearning
A1: Teachers must model and demonstrate the characteristics of being a lifelong learner to their students on a daily basis. Embracing mistakes, not accepting the status quo, growth mindset, metacognition and reflection are a few examples.

All my students have online portfolios of their #PBL work, and I will be creating a site with my work as well. Starting the process with them tomorrow. #HackLearning
I am a book publisher, but I want to continue to learn about best practices in publishing in #2018. I never know enough about this passion and profession.
#HackLearning
A2 For my students.... I want to learn how I can help them tell their stories (even more) and see that they can influence the world as a young person. #hacklearning
A2 I want to learn more about how the brain works to impact learning & how I can utilize that to use/create/design lessons that maximize st learning #HackLearning
A2 I want to learn more about the science of creativity. What promotes & inhibits creativity? How can I promote creativity in & beyond my classroom, for students & teachers? How can I reinvigorate my own creativity? How is creative expression a social justice issue? #HackLearning
I want to learn more about empowering teacher and students as learners in science in ALL disciplines. We don’t live in a 50 minutes blocked world #hacklearning A2
A2. I want to make connections between how Ss grow and develop and how Ts grow and develop. How can we improve how Ts view and approach their own learning? Twitter, PLNs, conferences, blogs... #SoManyQuestions#hacklearning
A1: It means a detective who always is searching for new ideas and ways to stay current while not diving into every new theory placed before them! #HackLearning
A1 being reflective. Learning to me is about reflecting and making connections. Teacher as learner is about embracing change. Never accepting status quo & always seeking to push the boundaries of possibility. #hacklearning
A2 - Genius Hour & coding are near the top of my list. But at the VERY top is the continue to learn more about my students & build more positive relationships with them so I can be a better teacher #HackLearning
A2 I also think I want to learn more about listening comprehension in a digital age. I think this is BIG and not often noted or given the time it deserves. #hacklearning
A2 Artificial intelligence as a personal interest, what learning substrate grows and sustains mathematical thinkers - how practices, resources, space intersect to create that substrate #hacklearning
#HackLearning? #TheEnd

A2 we are continuing to explore interacting with classes and authors around the world. It’s amazing how comics are such a universal language. I am researching titles in other countries and how superheroes are portrayed in diff cultures. #HackLearning
Catching up with #HackLearning. A1. Perpetually curious. Not only about topics of interest, but also about what my learners need. Good Morning Friends!
A2: I don’t know all the stuff I want to know yet because stumbling across intriguing questions is half the fun. A starter list: Coding, Robotics, NGSS, how to make my dog stop pulling on walks, how to make Creme brûlée...#hacklearning
A2: Effective conversations. Because in my new role as an IC this year, and as I work on my masters in admin, I KNOW it’s something that is vital. Education is communication. #hacklearning
A2: Making learning environments more inclusive. Language around transgender issues. Ways to build the capacity of learners that aren’t exposed to rich culture or diversity on a day to day basis. #hacklearning
A2 I want to learn more about using Voxer to connect with and grow my PLN. It's been on my "to do" list for years now. Maybe 2018 is the time! #HackLearning
A2 I also think I want to learn more about listening comprehension in a digital age. I think this is BIG and not often noted or given the time it deserves. #hacklearning
A2: I am fascinated by the neuroscience involved in teaching and learning. Some great research out there about being more intentional. Still developing our Culture of Thinking as a team. #HackLearning
A2. I’ve always approached teaching from science/math perspective. In 2018, I want to learn more about and help facilitate reading and comprehension. #hacklearning
I am working on a blog post about my thoughts on building a positive culture/climate in classrooms/teams. My theory is culture is an outward reflection of what a coach/teacher believes on the inside. #edchat#HackLearning#teacher#schools#Culture
A2 As a school leader, I'm interested in experimenting with tools as "professional learning catalysts". Two examples that come to mind are #HyperDocs and @Flipgrid. #HackLearning
I want to learn more about creativity, contemporary art, mindfulness, writing a book, growing creative confidence, infusing play,... in short, I want to learn more about learning. #hacklearning
A2: I don’t know all the stuff I want to know yet because stumbling across intriguing questions is half the fun. A starter list: Coding, Robotics, NGSS, how to make my dog stop pulling on walks, how to make Creme brûlée...#hacklearning
For 2018 ... I want to know the number of ambassadorships ... certifications ... corporate badges ... won't define my value as an educator. #hacklearning
A2: I want to learn to better incorporate student reflection and to give meaningful feedback. #hacklearning resources have given me a jump start already.

A2 This is a long list but I'd like to expand on my integration of GBL and #MinecraftEdu in 2018. I'd also like to learn how others are using student blogging. I would also like to get a little deeper with my use of drones in the classroom beyond coding. #HackLearning
#HackLearning. A2. More about what my community needs. I’m interested in sewing. Also, micro schools and alternative learning opportunities for high school students. :).
A2 Things I want to learn more about: Assessment alternatives that rely less on grades. Effective portfolio practices. Practical cognitive science. Heutagogy. Where to find sweet snow for skiing when it's warm & dry out west. #hacklearning
I think this is key. We live in a world where all of the “answers” are at our fingertips. We need to model our thinking process and show that it’s ok to “not know“ the answer, but how to find it. #hacklearning
A2 I'm a little obsessed with sustainability right now - for the planet & my work. At work, I realize this means empowering others & giving up control, #HackLearning
Facilitating a learning session for teachers tomorrow - just added a section on how podcasts and virtual field trips are forms of "paired text." Found some amazing podcasts for kids. I am ready to go back to the classroom now, thank you. :)

A3: I simply want to learn more. More about coaching, more about student learning and achievement, more about growing my PLN... On another side, learning better balance between work and personal.
#HackLearning
A2: I want to learn to better incorporate student reflection and to give meaningful feedback. #hacklearning resources have given me a jump start already.
A3 As a constant learner here is My Some of My Favorite Resources page https://t.co/GX9w9Phd1j to help you learn this year. It has many great people and ed companies to follow. #HackLearning
I always make time to read each day. Even if it’s magazines between books it helps you learn more and grow. #Read4Fun chat is educators looking to make sure they find that time to read. We chat tonight at 7eastern if you can join. #hacklearning
A2: I want to learn how I can support teachers in creating “workshops” in reading and writing- where kids are given choice in their learning, while still meeting the benchmarks set forth for them. I also want to continue on my digital literacy journey! #hacklearning
A3: Some of the best resources for us is our own staff. Lots of times we look outside, but we have a pretty knowledgeable staff! And they know the culture! #hacklearning
Good morning! Yes. Do you know anyone at a CU-anywhere that studies micro schools or co-op learning? I’m doing a little research myself. :). #hacklearning
A3: Currently reading "The Innovator's Mindset", "Start. Right. Now" and "The Fred Factor". My goal is to read 20 educational books this year. Half hour a day will bring me there.
#hacklearning
A2: I am fascinated by the neuroscience involved in teaching and learning. Some great research out there about being more intentional. Still developing our Culture of Thinking as a team. #HackLearning
A3 At this point, some of my richest learning comes from observing and talking to people in fields beyond education—psychologists, artists, naturalists, engineers, activists—and continually looking for how this work applies to mine. #HackLearning

A2: I want to learn to better incorporate student reflection and to give meaningful feedback. #hacklearning resources have given me a jump start already.
Kids have so much to teach the world! We need to create opportunities for them to get their voices beyond the walls of their classrooms:) #hacklearning
A3: One of the biggest shifts I'd like to see in the teachers within my division is the realization that they control their own PD and learning. Twitter and others give OnDemand learning at any time.
#HackLearning
A3 I love creating a Teachers as Readers book club with my colleagues. This allows us to read a professional text, test lessons and discuss to learning more. #hacklearning
Questions where answers lie at our fingertips tend to be of limited interest unless they're gateways to more impactful queries & creative applications. #hacklearning
A2- I’d like to learn more about effective feedback for Ss and Ts as well as more about cross-curricular projects/teaching. And I’d really like to learn how to solve the attendance problem! Also, how to knit/crochet! #HackLearning
A3: Twitter is always my first answer followed by any #EdCamp I can attend. FB groups are good too and I'm really looking forward to our state music conference at the end of the month. Whether online or F2F, any learning is good learning! #hacklearning
A3. Conversations (digital and in person) with colleagues can be the best source knowledge. Build relationships and learn at the same time! #hacklearning
I just pulled it back off my shelf on Friday! Also for q2, I’m thinking about play and curiosity in the first grade classroom. :). So I needed to grab this one again. #hacklearning.

A3: Our District🚀Instructional Rounds. Powerful because 🔎 is on collective learning. 👇🏼CIFTs, Classroom Learning Labs, & Lesson Studies are other approaches that can fuel individual and collaborative teacher learning. #HackLearning
A3: Twitter has proven to be the best #PLN for me. The people I follow give me news books to read, new Sipes to go to and the discussions make me think about what I'm doing.#HackLearning
A3: Twitter, Facebook, informal talks with colleagues, professional books (working my way through all of the Heinemann website, I think), conferences. Would like this year to branch out to other resources and try an unconference. #hacklearning
A3 ... your #PLN is always the best place to start. On campus groups are great, but they are limited to what they know ... that PLN is room size ... my PLN is the world #hacklearning
Great resource for engaging and developing the creative minds in your classroom. (Which is every child). Check this site out for practical ways to infuse more creativity into your teaching. https://t.co/32zOE2wR3g#hacklearning
A3 Don't underestimate the role of face-to-face learning. I think conferences are still a great place to collaborate and grow. I'm excited for the @HeinemannPub institute next week in Santa Fe. There's still time for you to join us! https://t.co/zs9fsOnEdo#hacklearning

#hacklearning. A3. Time to discuss ideas in learning is a great resource. One group of Ts at my school also read @gcouros The Innovator’s Mindset this past fall.
A3: Book that fuels collaboration – The Outward Mindset: Seeing Beyond Ourselves by The Arbinger Institute. Great read! #HackLearninghttps://t.co/61zhQtCym1
A3: The Adaptive School, Renegande Leadership, Growth Mindset, GRIT, Lead Like a Pirate and Culturize seem to be always on my short list!! #HackLearning
A3: I used to brag about my Rolodex. If I needed info, I had someone I could call - answer by end of week. Now, with my PLN, I don't have to wait more than 5 minutes. #HackLearning
1/2 A3 #hacklearning Awakening Genius in the Classroom--Thomas Armstrong; The Quality School and Quality School Teacher--William Glasser. Years ahead of their time and easy to digest. Not methods but rationales and philosophies
A3 I have spent the past 2years going to conferences, edcamps, comic cons, yes comic cons, to both present & attend presentations around the country. It’s amazing to learn from so many & to be reinvigorated outside of the school walls and to meet people in person. #HackLearning
A3: I also can't say enough nice things about #HackLearning. Is chats have been invaluable and the resources I have purchased have been among the most useful
A3: continue to expand my understanding of Google Classroom for upper grades and esp. how it might work with "littles" who don't have 1:1 devices. Would appreciate ideas! #hacklearning
I agree, but reflection and/or follow up needs to be there. So easy to let the new learning drift away unless practiced or applied quickly. #HackLearning
A3 I find so many resources here on @Twitter which has led to @voxer connections. Many passion fueled convos and collaborations have resulted. Love my PLN for sure! #hacklearning
This isn't my word for this year; it's actually my word for LIFE. I need to listen more and talk less, especially in the classroom. Great word! #HackLearning
A3 If you're looking to learn more about digital practices rooted in pedagogy, please check out my book! @KatieMuhtaris and I would love to hear your feedback! #hacklearning
Not that a twitter chat question is supposed to have a “right answer,” but this nails the question “What are great resources for teachers to learn?” #hacklearning
So far so good. I read Trevor Mackenzie’s Dive Into Inquiry. I believe chapter 5 really helps give an idea of necessary scaffolding. Reworking my 70’s game - needed work to be more engaging and student led. #hacklearning
#HackLearning hope you will consider adding #bookcamppd weekly chats or Voxer group to your resources about books. Saturday at 9:00 AM EST Hope to see you there!
