#TOSAChat is a chat on Twitter every Monday night at 8pm PST for TOSAs (teachers on special assignment), including all edtech and instructional coaches.
Good evening! Kim from So Cal, Digital Learning Coach! I don't recall a nickname, but my grandpa always said I was bodacious...I thought it was a made up word just for me! LOL #tosachat
A1: A classroom teacher told me the only great thing about being a TOSA was that I could go to the bathroom whenever I wanted. But truly, building relationships across all our PK-12 sites is extraordinary. I feel valued and trusted by many Ts and admin #tosachat
Oh em gee did I forget the selfie too!! Sheesh you would think I've never done this before! Here is one of me and Jake on Easter =) My hubby is trying to photobomb #TOSAChat
A1 Getting to observe others and collaborate every day. I learn something new each time I walk into someone's classroom. I feel like I am getting the best PD of my career. #TOSAChat
A1: had someone come up to me at CUE and tell me that my session last year on Screencasting made him change how he had students to demonstrate learning #notaTOSA so that was pretty awesome #tosachat
A1: I’m not a TOSA but it’s been a privilege to start a school with a vision of inclusion. Quite the experience. My first teacher Ng job. 16 yrs and counting. #TOSAChat
A2: Cognitive Coaching PD really helped me "meet people where they are"..it's not about where I think they should be. The time I spend reading, digesting, and wrestling with new learning ends up having an #impact#TOSAchat
A2: I target the students, teach the skills, make them experts. Then they start asking other Ts if they can use those tools in their classes. Eventually Ts come and ask for some basics in the tool or skill #tosachat
A2) At SDUSD we're invested in an integrated approach to student-centered coaching...a deeper dive into setting learning targets based on assessment (not tests), lesson planning, and there is tech integration involved. 😉 #tosachat
A2: I try to do stuff like this. Learning from everyone here helps me serve the teachers I work with. I also try to stay up on best practices for training. NO SET AND GET as much as I can. #TOSAchat
A1 working with my @STEAMusd team of ToSAs has been amazing..and watching the STEAM program change from push in lessons to a full on makerspace! #tosachat
A2: I'm always learning on Twitter and have recently gotten really into Voxer book chats. I share what i learn with colleagues in person and digitally in my newsletter.,
#tosachat
A3) My TOSAs like @PamRabin use student data to show growth. By focusing on students' needs we see how changes in instruction impact learning #tosachat
A2 attending pd through conferences and bringing back what I learn to specific grade levels during collaboration has helped..we also have Tech Tuesdays that introduce teachers to tools & ideas they can bring to their students which have been really successful! #tosachat
A3: For my goals & objs, we use data from PD evals. It really is so hard to quantify... # of PD sessions, # of attendees...meh...I know I hit the mark on quality...but had to find objective data. #TOSAchat
A3: I have a feedback form that goes out to all my appointments. I also use the same form at the end of PD sessions. We have also been pulling numbers of students accessing Google Classroom. #TOSAchat
A2: As a coach, it’s been amazing to go full circle with assessing needs, listening to adult learners’ needs, designing learning experiences to meet those needs, and always to follow through with resources and more. #tosachat

A3: At the end of each training session we send out a Google Forms/survey asking for honest feedback. We also try to follow up with the teachers shortly after by appointment (and sometimes not. Really trying to have good customer service. #TOSAchat
A3: We use @BrightBytes Clarity- survey collection around 4 areas - Classroom, Access, Skills, Environment Great data and wonderful ideas for creating change. #tosachat
A3: This really depends on each person. For some it’s their feedback, for others it’s our co-planning. Above all though it’s the impact on the students. Student progress and student achievement is the best qualifier. #tosachat

We used to rely on statistics for PD attendance, with the coaching cycles we are looking at the achievement of students in classrooms we coach. With the focus on what students are doing academically measuring integration is a bit like measuring a pencil. ✏️🤔 #tosachat
I definitely agree with @Jyoung1219 I get so invigorated by some of the connections I make with other educators. Getting cheered for by students when walking into a classroom is pretty awesome too! #tosachat
A3 I use Google tools to keep track of makerspace activities and units I do with classes..informal discussion and teacher feedback are also super important for my role #tosachat
This is the second full year of using the NWEA/MAP assessments for Math. It’s used as our universal screener and for trimester data analysis. It’s been very helpful to focus on data and next steps. #tosachat

I feel the same way about Deb. I hate when people assume they can call me that. Especially in the professional world. I don’t sign my emails Deb, why do you address them as that? Argh! #tosachat#petpeeve

A4: Google Forms for sure. I would love more teachers to jump on board with @flipgrid. I actually think we need to do more to empower teachers HOW to use formative assessment effectively #TOSAchat#teachermoves
Tools for capturing and making thinking visible @Flipgrid@goformative@Seesaw, not all are seen as assessment vehicles but totally are au courant #tosachat
A5: I have a blog, but I don’t post to it often enough. I have several blog posts brewing in my brain. Need to schedule time to write them. https://t.co/2AbgseqQek#TOSAchat
A5: Not organized at the moment...working on a website to collect my "stuff". I started a spreadsheet of links to my PD presos. I create a lot of infographics/posters to try to get my brain on paper (boss loves when I wallpaper his office with my brain!) #TOSAchat@EdServicesPYL
I hear ya on the blogging. I also need to get back to tweeting more regularly. I really do love my job so much. I should share the awesome more often. #tosachat
A5 I suppose my Twitter account is my ToSA portfolio so I don’t have a link to share....ooh but I do have a collection of hyperdocs I’ve collected you can check out which doesn’t really answer this question but hey 🤷♀️ https://t.co/skdY5Vve7V#TOSAchat
#tosachat A5: Need to be better about organizing writing & blogs. Some Tech Coach blogs are at https://t.co/GPd8KamRwh, & now I blog K2 stuff at https://t.co/evt1MSiyFU, but feel like there's no place for the tech coach stuff there? Some end up being LONG Facebook posts, lol!
A5: I am just laughing a new podcast called Carnes Connection. I’m hoping to highlight the awesomeness happening around my district. I recorded my first episode the other day. I haven’t released it yet. Still working some of the kinks out. #tosachat
A5 #TOSAchat We have a district tech Facebook group, use #onenote to share resources with staff, and have another #onenote resource for students-both require district login access. I created one for #accessibility tools here: https://t.co/SvTeuQ8UYb Open to everyone.
A6: I think I have tried to put Ss and pedagogy first, then blend tech and content into the mix to help teachers create the best lesson design they can. #tosachat
I'm so disappointed @padlet is no longer 100% free, not even for teachers. I can only make 3 more free padlets with my basic account. $99/year is not worth it. Looking for ideas for alternatives! #GoogleEI#GoogleEDU#edtechteam#edtechchat
A6: Well just got the 10% battery warning so I fear I’m on my way out, but before I go…Being able to impact teachers who then impact hundreds of students is beyond awesome. #TOSAchat
A6 #tosachat I HOPE I've made an impact by presenting on tools like #ImmersiveReader and @sway quick start that can benefit ALL learners, not just SpEd. (Am a former regular ed AND SpEd teacher)
A6: My tremendous impact has come in the form of many small pebbles dropped along the way. Recently had a formerly tech phobic T write proudly to tell me she got the kids on the laptops & #googleslides all by herself. The ripples are growing. #TOSAchat
