A1: I find that connection, relationships, and engagement all start with energetic humor. Let's get excited about being here and growing together! #teachpos
A1: As part of my mission to establish mutual relationships, we’ve been doing Feedback Friday where students give me feedback on my teaching. #TeachPos
I'm trying to give my Ss the experience of being generous helpers to others as well as having safe experiences asking others for help. Two months in....having to artificially manufacture it as it isn't happing as organically as it has in the past. #teachpos
A1: I helped them learn the meaning and usefulness of being optimistic and the value of having a growth mindset. Hopefully, they realize how outside-of-the-box I run the classroom with lots of fun things woven in like dancing, singing, games, and choice. #teachpos
A1: Tell terrible jokes. Make fun of my own failures. Be loud and share ridiculous stories from home. Most importantly, make them feel like they are the most important people on the planet by listening to their stories. #teachpos

A1: I make weekly contacts to one Ss parent from each classroom each week. The Ss find out and love it when they learn that I tell their Ps about them getting caught doing something great. I will usually do more than one per room, but that is my minimum each week! #TeachPos
A1~
~ Friday is our day to each lunch together in classroom
~ we made family tiles to celebrate diversity ~ on display in classroom
~ morning meetings that fosters community bldg ~ songs, handshakes, dancing & laughter
~ trust in each other~ bigs& littles ❤️
#teachpos
A1: Getting students to talk about what interests them and asking for input in order to be more engaged but then using their feedback and putting the info into place has helped them approach the feeling of "love" #teachpos
#teachpos - I am getting a lot of elementary teachers set up with @ProdigyGame. A lot of students play on their own, so I gave PD and help set up logins, etc in classes. So now the students know me as Mr. Prodigy, the guy who got their teacher to let them play the game in class!
A1: This year I've been using my wife's teaching idea of 'Daily Doses'. These are done for students to dig into themselves reflectively to start the first five minutes of class. Questions like: 'When did I overcome a challenge?' They have really enjoyed them! #teachpos
A1: Unique greetings/hugs depending on Ss preference, predictable routines, soft starts so they can casually chat/get comfortable before the official beginning of the learning day, and music whenever possible!! #TeachPos
A1: Get to know the students and share parts of my life. I do a lot of this informally but also through narrative writing in our first unit. I want students to know I care and love each of them #TeachPos
A1 I sent letters and messages to all my students by mail. During my parent conferences this week many parents told me that made a hige differences. I see it in my students’ learning and relationship with them. #teachpos
Hoping to see all of my #TeachPos peeps on Tues 10/23 8est as our very own @Shapiro_WTHS takes us into the #champforkids ring to lead us in a discussion on Getting Ss Excited!
A2: The catalyst this year has been #DBC50Summer and continuing the #DBCBookBlogs - having enthusiasm and excitement for each day has made a world of difference in my ability to teach positively! #teachpos
A2: Being positive in the most authentic ways possible transfers to our students and helps to create a positive culture in which positivity is the expected norm. #teachpos
A2: as a building it feels as though we have changed our mindset. The black cloud that seemed to be hanging over our school last year as moved on and we are healthier and doing better. #TeachPos
A2: Choosing to believe the best in your students and having patience when things do not go perfect. Keep pushing forward and choosing to be positive. #teachpos@ERobbPrincipal
A2: Start off with the focus on relationships. My Ts had two weeks to focus on relationships and community building before getting into curriculum. Build that trust and respect and then go from there! #TeachPos
A1 - start the year with lots of fun class building, team building, get to know you activities. STEM tasks tied to literature, or mini challenges that force teams to learn and grow together hook kids into the beginning of the yer! #TeachPos
#teachpos - Q2 - I started a new job at the beginning of the year. Though there were challenges, I wanted to stay positive and do the best for the teachers and students that I serve. That was my catalyst.
As we are getting into the "Novembers" in which frustrations and stressors are high, the positive outlook and mindset set in August is truly paying off. #teachpos
A1: One thing that I have done w/kids since the beginning of school that make Ss love walking in the room is greeting them w/ music & dancing. If some song is not jamming, the kids come in saying, “Ms. Hankins! Where’s the music!?” On Fridays, we do the congo or limbo!
#TeachPos
A2: Choice. I had two options this year. Feel defeated or fight for success. Each day we have an opportunity to fight for the win. In the event it does not go our way, tmrw is another day and an opportunity to find success. I believe that this will be the best year yet. #teachpos
A2 My catalyst has been developing over the past 9 weeks. Giving students an opportunity to blow up and descale without judgement after. Giving tools for them to be successful next is eye opening. #TeachPos
A2~
~ confidence in myself plain & simple
~being comfortable with who I am, what I stand for
~goodness, kindness ,uniqueness in humor & ❤️ I bring to the classroom
#teachpos
A2- Knowing all my Ss was huge. I had taught all but 4 previously and so we already had strong relationships. Knowing their strengths, their challenges, their passions- it let us pick right up where we left off. #TeachPos
A2: The biggest catalyst has been serving as a mentor teacher this Fall. I've learned so much from my teaching mentee and have been infused with a new burst of energy to kick the year off right. Mentorship sharpens both ways!! #teachpos
A2: I want the students to know I love my job. At any age students can see a genuine teacher and I think they really value transparency in the classroom. As teachers, we are stronger when we collaborate and come together as one positive force #TeachPos
A2 We believe in building strong, respectful relationships with colleagues, new families and especially new, eager learners. We follow the lead of our kids as we co-construct our curriculum. #TeachPos
A2: When you focus on kids vs. curriculum the first week of school, it sets the tone and makes all the difference in the year. Kids want to learn from teachers who they know truly care about them. After that, curriculum is a cinch. #TeachPos
A2 I think my catalyst has been relationship-building and knowing my students. When you take the time to build the right environment from the start, so many things fall into place. It never becomes perfect, I still have challenges. But what a difference. #TeachPos
A3: Continue to come hang out with you fine people on Twitter. Leaning on my #PLN has been so important this year. Being around positive people at work and removing negativity is key, too! #teachpos
A3 I need to keep my kids on their toes. Theow in some surprises, some twists and turns to keep them guessing. No matter the content, the skills, you have to keep the kids and their heart at the forefront. #teachpos
A2 #TeachPos having an open heart and a positive mindset. We need to make sure to remember why we became teachers. It was never to have perfect lesson plans or pretty classrooms. We did it to make a difference in the kids lives.
A3: I will show up daily with the intention and focus towards positivity, caring, and love to create a strong foundation to grow and learn upon. #teachpos
A3: Constant reminders that I CAN do this - despite what my school does or doesn’t do, despite what people say is or isn’t possible, despite the hard days when the task seems insurmountable. I can do this and I will because these kids deserve it! #TeachPos
A3: My goal is to continue focusing on my Ts and showing them they matter which in turn will hopefully help them continue to be positive and work towards keeping our Ss engaged and showing them they matter! Positive notes to Ts and Ss mean the world! #TeachPos
A3: as the self directed social media person in the building - I really need to get Ts and Ss into recording the fun and excietment that is happening in the building to post more about our learning and not just events. #TeachPos
A3: I will continue to deepen my relationships with Ss as I learn more about them, continue creating exciting learning experiences for them, and continue pushing Ss to give their best effort each day as we move forward in our learning together! #TeachPos
A3: Being "present" in conversations is key. I got caught today. I was trying to tie up some PD stuff while my son was explaining a Lego creation. Our daughter snapped and said, "Dad's working." I was very sad. Sometimes we need to take a break to listen to our kids. #teachpos
Agree with you 100%, Alicia. Having a #PLN on twitter has been so amazing. Connecting with like minded folks can stoke your passion and take it to the next level! You can ask for support when you need it, and give support when you have extra. It's fantastic! #Teachpos
Thanks so much! I've learned so much from everyone on Twitter & my amazing assistant just makes it happen. I had to giggle though - those bare pieces of tape in the frames are for their precious self-portraits! (Sometimes I just don't see all the stuff in my photos!) #teachpos
A3: Continue to do self-care so that I can be the best version of me for the students. Focus on my students and the good in them, when the outside stressors (that I can’t control) feel like too much. #TeachPos
A3: I keep in mind: 1) my time with them is already limited when they get to me 2) my goal is to give them the best fourth-grade school year possible 3)learning should be fun 4) it's up to me and no one else. #teachpos
A3~
~ continue to surround myself w/people who lift us all up
~ only engage in conv that puts Ss needs first ~no excuses
~ celebrate the diversity of our Ss & Families
#teachpos
A1- To build relationships at the beginning of the year we did a lot of team building activities-stacking cups, school scavenger hunt, and saving a gummy 🐛 Fred. We have then tried to continue building relationships- positive letters and phone calls home #teachpos
A3- Plan for and expect success! Starting my day off right in the mornings was a huge difference maker when I started last December. Mornings are when I can refuel positivity and grow! Here is a link to my post on this: https://t.co/T6HGDmocdB#teachpos
A3. Showing Ss you believe in them and care for them is very important! Also, keeping school culture positive! When teaching, keep their curiosity guessing, always bring in surprises! Hands on learning! #teachpos
Offering reassessment doesn't ensure growth every day, but it suggests that there is OPPORTUNITY to demonstrate growth every day and allows the student to own the initiative. #teachpos
A3: To ensure that positivity and success occur each day is simple—it starts with ME. I set the tone. I set the tone for myself, my students, my colleagues, my school.
#TeachPos
A2- Buildingstrong relationships has been my catalyst. I feel that relationships are the bread and butter in education. W/out them we will not be as successful w/our ss. People want to work harder for ppl that love and support them. #teachpos
