Don't tell me what happened last Sunday!
Hello ! I'm a kindergarten teacher in Idaho!
A2: Why not? That's our job!
Hi Jessica! Thx for encouraging so many to participate in ; )
A1-It's important to ID strugglers to start interventions ASAP. The longer they go w/out the bigger the gap becomes!
Hi Rizza! So glad you can join tonight!
A1: Ss who r struggling need more help/attention...identification is the 1st step...plan of action follows
Good evening group! Ryan, elementary principal in Texas! Ready to learn something new tonight!
A1 Recognition of a child in need of support & early intervention could make an impact that spans a life time!
To some ss we may be an additional resource, to our struggling ss we may be their only hope! https://t.co/h0cvc8NOIh
Welcome Rosie. Glad you joined in tonight.
A1 if they fall though cracks in EC school will be much more difficult than it has to be
Hola Abe! Buenas noches to you too! Glad to welcome you to tonight.
A1: Students who are struggling need us to reach out to them and empower them. Early intervention is best!
A1: They have the most immediate need, have the most ground to make up, and require the most intentional planning and teaching.
A1- We need to be aware of S current abilities to maximize potential!
Welcome back Justin. Always enjoy having you join in the conversation.
A1: It's important to ID struggling students to create a plan for intervention and not leave them behind.
Kim from Calgary! Can only stay for a bit but excited to read the feed!
Hello ! Operium, K teacher checking in late.
A1 to help them cope with the learning process and to prepare appropriate intervention
A1: To create interventions to help them out.
A1: Imagine a ski jumping slope. If we can ID those students dropping we can ensure they use the slope/gravity as a jump of growth
A1: To ensure we men their needs and don't fall further behind
A1: It's sad that needs to be a question, but truthfully it does - we can't support our Ss fully if we don't understand the needs
This is so true and then the gap widens making it more difficult for them to make up ground! https://t.co/80DLjMdQPQ
A1 if they fall though cracks in EC school will be much more difficult than it has to be
A1: it's impt so we can address the struggles. Especially if the struggle concepts build upon other skills they need to succeed.
Love having some more bilingual peeps! Bilingual teachers are the missing voices in .
Welcome to my friend. All the celebrations have looked amazing so far this week. I can’t wait 4 April ; )
Amen! https://t.co/C58l3zmlmm
A1: It's important to ID struggling students to create a plan for intervention and not leave them behind.
You see that ...we need your voice!! https://t.co/istLPcBYj5
Love having some more bilingual peeps! Bilingual teachers are the missing voices in .
A1: to ensure that all of our Ss are learning, that we are meeting their needs, and their strengths are being utilized
Welcome Ryan! So glad you are here tonight for ; )
A1: It's our mission because they are ALL our students, not just the ones who do well but those ones who struggle.
PreK is the first line of defence.
Exactly? https://t.co/sKqC7G3WxO
A1: It's sad that needs to be a question, but truthfully it does - we can't support our Ss fully if we don't understand the needs
A1: To identify the "why". What support is needed to close the gaps? In PreK, parent education is a huge piece!
A1: It's important to catch struggling learners before they fall.
So much learning and development takes place in the years.
Thank you!!!! So happy to take a part in it! 😊👍🏽😂 https://t.co/DtTnVv7jAZ
Looking forward to our new teachers joining in tonight
A2 We use universal screeners such as Brigance Inventory, Teaching Strategies Gold & NWEA’s Childeren’s Progress Gold assessment.
A1: It is important to recognize those who struggle so we can determine the best methods for supporting those learners
Sophia 2nd grade teacher from Des Plaines IL- sorry to be late!
A2 informal Qs at different levels to see if misunderstanding is just a miscommunication or if things really aren't clicking.
Q2: I identify based on formal and informal assessments and observations.
A2 in as many different ways as possible...conversations, observations, actual assessment tools, etc.
Through data, observations and conversations with parents & other teachers working w/them too! https://t.co/vXbfkv1vBS
A2. We created a transition form preK-K gives us tons of insight in planning for clustering.
A2: Multiple data sources over time. Can't just look at a snapshot but rather a landscape of history which includes various scenes
A2: Teacher observations supported by various assessment data...conversations w/Ts who know their Ss is priceless
A2: progress monitor, checklists, observations, work samples, just a variety of assessment measures for baseline and trends
Q2: I make sure that for every struggle that is identified... So are strengths! Build confidence.
For K: We use DIAL as a pre-kind screener, STAR tests for district screen then we dig deeper on kids who pop up.
Always bringing the fun to
A2 observations, assessment results even behavior
Yes. Early intervention is so impactful. It can change the trajectory of a child’s life! I see it w/ my S’s https://t.co/PAL3ZImFI5
A1: They have the most immediate need, have the most ground to make up, and require the most intentional planning and teaching.
A2 Observations and conversations are the most important ways to see what a child really knows.
Feedback! From parents. From assessments. From observations.
love the challenge though! Put on the pump up music, eye black, & foam finger before, during, & after school!
A2: Two major assessment tools EVERY T has: observation and questions. As a VP, I use these two everyday in my walkthrus.
A2: Assessments, observations, conversation, behaviors, and most importantly data.
A2: daily checking for understanding, small groups, and our school wide data.
The sooner we ID students' needs, the sooner we can intervene.
Yes indeed https://t.co/z0Hojh8rCV
A2 Observations and conversations are the most important ways to see what a child really knows.
Welcome Kim! I always love learning w/ you during How have you been?
A2: We just started using CLI Engage this year...district still has literacy/math assessments...Ts keep great records of milestones
I like to assess one on one using both informal and formal assessments.
A2: Feedback from students, families, assessments and conversations.
Welcome Operium!!! You’re chat will be here before we know it! ; )
Very true. In 2nd grade I had a student that could not skip count, when we got to money she struggled.
I have been wonderful! So good to say hello, times are challenging for me lately but life is great YOU!?
Glad 2 B Here! This group ROCKS! Lots of heavy hitters here churnin' da learning!
A2: Data, observations, assessments.
A2: Feedback! From parents. From teachers. Assessments. And observations.
A2: You can identify students that struggle by observations and looking at the students data.
Omg! I bet! We need to get her on the show! https://t.co/RA6gok1Uks
She's even more impressive in person...and I'm not bias! 😉
I am a little late. Laura Balderas Houston tx. Farias ECC
I love the way you said that⬇️ The PLN rocks!😃 https://t.co/sZ083Cq3NT
Glad 2 B Here! This group ROCKS! Lots of heavy hitters here churnin' da learning!
The assessments are easy to follow, age appt., but data is hard to retrieve..reports not so friendly :(
A2 Has anyone read the research of Bob Balfonse?
Perfect response. 👌🏾 https://t.co/VtBXb4eSc0
A2: daily checking for understanding, small groups, and our school wide data.
Q3: Coming up in 1 minute
Q3: Coming up in 1 minute
Feedback and input from others is powerful! https://t.co/hY3ZrZeYhu
A2: Feedback from students, families, assessments and conversations.
Coming in late. Christian Gonzalez from Houston tx
A2: Using a variety of resources like data, observations and communication with parents.
thanks Nancy! My day is made and mission accomplished 💯
9/18 teachers here tonight amazing! But whose counting?!😁❤️
A3:Build in intervention and re-teach in the class, while moving students that have mastered on to enrichment.
A2: Also interesting to look at hierarchy of needs for students as to what may be limiting their success academically & socially
A1: It is important because we need to create intervention to not leave those students behind. https://t.co/uuVjqH10Wg
A4 More scaffolding, more in-depth discussion, small number sets (if necessary), go back to manipulatives
Those quick checks are important.
A3:Use peer tutors in the class.
A3: workshop and learning centers allow me to alter my pace and differentiate my teaching to meet each need no matter the unit
A3-Ss who strive and master concepts are given opportunities to extend their learning at their own pace.
You take 2 steps back and then make a huge jump when you have the momentum!
Sorry my twitter is actung up
A3 Target instruction directly at a student’s ZPD. This provides intervention at their point of need & then build from there.
Somebody's doing something right https://t.co/w298yfqlLS
9/18 teachers here tonight amazing! But whose counting?!😁❤️
great point making sure we see the whole child.
A3: small groups, differentiation, & interventions are so powerful!
Daily checking (I.e., post-it's with notes, use name sticks to draw randomly, technology, games, etc.) https://t.co/W5fuLKhccs
A1 Once identified as struggling, interventions, small groups, and closing the gaps can occur through targeted instruction.
A3: meet with small groups to help modify and make adjustments, hands on, provide manipulatives and reteach
If they're not learning,MY instruction is not being effective with THEM.Try different methods & experiences https://t.co/TYzkLtWqtX
A3. Lot of reteaching and checking for understanding.
Luv the "in-class" solution bc lots of "interventions" seem to be outta da classroom.
forget the Ellen Show she needs her own show!
Are you going to visit or are they coming to see you???
Slipping out. Thanks for chat
A3: provide intervention during small group, differentiating instruction, tiered activities https://t.co/Pix4ggaNEM
This is a great point...think of the whole child and all factors...not just school enviro https://t.co/ZS38KKr4jq
A2: Also interesting to look at hierarchy of needs for students as to what may be limiting their success academically & socially
A3: It starts with KNOWING where your kids are and what they need, the WHAT/WHY is more important than pace - process over product
A3: even differentiating homework for Ss based on their needs to help with struggles.
A3: I struggle with this balance as I really push my students to their maximum potential. 😬
some of my favorite math problems have to do with what is the "actual whole" vs. the "relative whole"
A3 small group instructions, break down the ships of lessons
We can't ignore the social emotional needs of our kids.
They're coming first 3/8 & then we'll go visit them after Spring break.
