A1: Recapturing your inner child means being able to have look at situations and scenarios from an angle that a kid might. Then being able to run with it! #moedchat
A1. A carefree attitude😝, more relaxation & less hurry up 😎, more time outdoors🌳, more time with friends👭, creativity👩🎨, oh and of course . . . more sleep😴 #moedchat
A1. Recapturing your inner child means always being adventurous, having an imagination, and being accepting of others. Believing the world is yours and that you can accomplish everything! #moedchat@TedHiff
Hey #moedchat... join us next Thursday right before #moedchat to discuss #edcampSCSD! Use #SCSDEdChat to join! We hope to see you then (and at edcamp of course)! 😍
Reminds me to think like a child and connect to what my students are interested in. Also gets me out of the 'box' that I live in as an adult and see things in new (hopefully more exciting) ways! #moedchat
A2 we have to connect with our inner child to help us get on the same level as our students genuine relationships of trust and partnership start here. #Moedchat
I spend a lot of time in elementary classes, and I constantly have to remind myself that their world view is so much different than mine. Connecting with my inner child helps me connect with them! #moedchat
A2: Helps you relate to the students, to not forget what it was like to be a kid. And to help your Ss have a fun and carefree childhood as much as possible. #moedchat
A2- connecting with our inner child allows us to make meaningful connections with our students and really learn who they are, they feel more comfortable showing their carefree, playful sides when they see their teachers open up and have fun too! #MOedchat
A2 Life crushes us into a box, rules/obligations/standards all prevent us from seeing what the kids see. Crush the box, better yet burn the box and go for what will have an impact with the kids #MOedchat
A2: It's easier to lesson plan by asking myself What would I want to do? How did I learn best? What didn't work with me at all? Recalling my childhood desires helps me motivate students, so they want to achieve. #moedchat
In EVERY way possible, but I find it especially helps my creativity for lessons, passion & energy when teaching, better engagement, a sense of trust-if they know you are open, carefree, & willing to take healthy risks, they will be more likely to do the same! #MOedchat

A2: When your biggest worry is getting home by the time the street lights come on, you’re a lot less stressed.
Politics- who needs ‘em?
Complex relationships- No time.
Drama- See ya...
#MOedchat
yeah, I can’t do those anymore...just a picture of a childhood for me. Every child should feel free and safe doing cartwheels in their front yard. #moedchat
A2. Connecting with my inner child allows me to connect with my students and reminds me to have a sense of humor, enjoy the small things, and never stop asking questions. #moedchat@TedHiff
A2: It keeps you thinking from the viewpoint of the students. What would they want? What would they want from me? It leads right into keeping what’s best for kids above all. #moedchat

@cmcgee200 this reminds me of the keynote you gave for PBConnect last year! Being vulnerable can be so powerful and it’s where much learning occurs. #moedchat
If I brought my inner child excitement to school everyday my teachers might wish me away due to distractions. It would be good for the constant #heartbeeps. #moedchat
A3: I go hang out in @mrsdonaldsonm 1st Grade class as kids come in and start the day. Sit on the floor and play. It’s the best place to be at 9:00! #MOedchat
I pulled a couple off not to long ago, but not as graceful as before and I think I heard some creaking but I bet that was a loose floorboard. 😬 #moedchat
A3: As an administrator, it is SO easy to get caught up in classrooms, paperwork, and the office. Paperwork and phone calls don’t stop. When I find it is getting the best of me...
It
Is
Time
To
RECESS!

Now that I’ve lived through a badly broken leg with torn ligaments (not from a cartwheel!) my cartwheelin’ days are long gone, never to return...well, maybe in heaven. 😇 #moedchat
A3-I spend as much time as possible with my nieces and nephews ages 1-7, they always bring out my inner child and that fun filters into school! I play games in PE with the Ss and play games in the cafeteria at lunches #MOedchat
A3: We hosted a staff talent show...so fun!! We also had Team Huddles every T and Th for 1 month that included PE games for team builders and pep talks! Hoping to go play Laser Tag as a staff! #moedchat
A3 Allow the students to venture outside for “lessons”. I would rather be outside and connect with the environment, than be stuck in a classroom. FREEDOM! #moedchat
A3: swinging on the swing set...one of my all time favorites. Playing at recess. Enjoying the Ss. They are awesome! And this chat is making me smile. 😊❤️😊 #moedchat
A3. I reconnect with my inner child by time traveling. I go back in time and remember the activities I used to do that brought me joy and then I go do them! #moedchat@TedHiff
A. 3 Make time to do something fun. It seems as adults we leverage every second for productivity. Planning a fun activity also allows you to anticipate the excitement. I always remember being enthusiastic as a kid. Adulting can beat this out of us. #moedchat
A3 I make stuff for the fun of it, chase dreams that I know I can’t really achieve, get excited about little things, and eat sweets for breakfast because I can #MOedchat
A4: Pandora online!!! I tell my Ss about music I listened to! I can remember where I was when songs play. I like to watch old commercials and Johnny Carson on YouTube! I have vintage video games! MTV Classic! Old movies! Telling childhood stories! #moedchat
A3: Building relationships with S’s everyday. Being curious about what they are interested in. Hitting the slide at recess. Jumping in to whatever’s going on. Connecting with my kids at home also. #moedchat
My childhood was pretty rough, but I have tried to connect back to that ideal of what I wished it had been. One thing I did have that I wish I still had was this feeling of strength. I was determined to do something big someday. #moedchat
A4 I make a fool of myself all the time and don’t even care. Also, I get all excited about the latest crazes like Fortnite and talk to the kids about it #MOedchat

A4: Model the silly. Model the playfulness. Model the FUN! If they see you really and truly enjoying your days, they will continue to move forward with a smile on their face. #moedchat
Q4 Remind them that it is okay to make mistakes. They do not have to strive for perfection.
This is also something I need to tell MYSELF often #moedchat
A4. We can keep child-like qualities in our classrooms by creating a classroom culture that encourages students to confront challenges, accept differences and take risks #moedchat@TedHiff
Can’t have leaves under the snow, it might destroy… the grass seed?… I don’t know… I’m about to shine a bright light out the window as an indication of my gratitude for keeping my kids up… #MOedchat

Yes! I have introduced it online to my 4th graders before. They get so into it, it's so much fun! I also found Number Munchers online, another one of my favorites. #moedchat
A4- encourage exploration and risk taking! Cultivate creativity and incorporate student voice. Model risk taking and embrace when you make a mistake, let them see we are human and make mistakes too. Have fun and play with our Ss #MOedchat
A4: Instead of teaching them that technology is a bad thing, help them learn that you can use technology for good reasons and teach them how to properly use it. #moedchat
A3: listening to music, giving high-fives, acting a little silly, getting excited over cornball things, trying to take a breath and look for the magic around #moedchat
A4: I really believe in STEM activities in any subject. I believe dancing and air guitar by a T is an essential. Encourage questions. Find new ways to create images, videos, and sound. Use of sensory detail appeals to children. #moedchat
A3: I need to work more on this... the real world seeps in and can drag you down quickly. Connecting with play and your inner child takes breaking the habit. #moedchat
A5: So difficult! And multi-faceted. If we can create a place where Ss feel safe and have an adult they trust, someone they know is on their side, then everything else will fall into place. #moedchat
A5: Start with building relationships! Love your students. Create a learning environment and positive culture that makes school feel like coming Disney (or a close second😉)! Everyone looks forward to coming to school. #moedchat
A5: When ALL the adults in the school work together to make it a safe environment the kids will want to be there. Yesterday was first day back from spring break, and at breakfast duty I had kids say they were happy to be back and that school feels "just like home." #moedchat
A5 Develop relationships -- make them feel like school is a place they need to be or they are missing out. Involve them in interesting tasks, show them you care. Get off their back... I think my friend @BethHouf says it best...
#moedchat
A5 Connect with EVERY student! Create those important relationships! Find out what they like, and let them know a little bit about your life as well! You may have similar interests. #moedchat
Y’all please take a moment and check out my blog, it speaks directly to the culture that we all are looking to develop. https://t.co/k7J6oEYtqh#moedchat
A5: it starts with building relationships with Ss. Create a safe place for them to take risks, fail and try again. Stay current and keep content relevant to S lives. #moedchat
That's a key -- we often focus on a certain group -- and those kids are overinvolved at the expense of our marginal groups. Kind something to connect with EVERY STUDENT. #moedchat
A5: Sharing our own childhood hardships. Having been a have-not helps. I like to push gratitude for anything. I don't use teachery posters as decor. I use retro phones, album covers, video games, Star Wars posters, and contemporary posters. #moedchat
A6 Can’t fit any more knowledge in them at this point, might as well focus on learning the things outside the curriculum and get them some relaxation and interest based enjoyment #batmanedu#MOedchat
A6 not make those test the be all end all, it starts day one and must continue to the end, don’t be afraid to have fun with the kids, celebrate a lot we all need it more in the spring #moedchat
A6: Continue to put kids first, even through testing season. Remember your why! No one got it to education to proctor assessments! All will be well! #moedchat
A6: When they have free time in between tests we could allow the students to play games, have recess, or just do a different activity than just sitting down and using their brain power. #moedchat
A6: I really strive to NOT mention the tests or their importance all year long. But as this time comes, I challenge the students to step up and show off how smart they are and show what they can do. #moedchat
Haha! I dropped a fortnite reference in a 5th grade classroom today and I had them hooked for the rest of the lesson. Sometimes all it takes is the suggestion that you care about the things they care about. #moedchat
I have yet to win a game and it frustrates me so much. Back in the Goldeneye days and even the beginning of Call of Duty, I dominated. Now I am terrible. #MOedchat

A5: I push for pride. I want Ss to be proud of achievement, so I share their work and emphasize their role to the community involving education achievement. Kids want to be proud and want us Ts to say we are proud of them. We replace that element lost in Ss' lives. #moedchat
A5: Realize your class is not the most important or only thing they have going on. Build a relationship with students. Create a warm, inviting, and caring environment in your classroom. Be present, be someone Ss can talk & look up to. #moedchat
A6 Give then the option of an activity to where they can get out of their seat, or do an activity they want to do. They are made to take tests, let them make their own decision on something to relax their mind. #moedchat
A6. By reminding students that this is their time to show off all the knowledge they learned this entire year. Just do your best, and then go run around, have fun, and let your carefree spirit fly! #moedchat@TedHiff
Love that quote from @BethHouf and she is so right! People want to be in places where they can feel the magic. If you have those child-like qualities present, people can’t stay away! #moedchat
A6: Emphasize they are more than a "test score". Don't let a standardized test determine what they think of themselves or what their future will be. Continue to encourage them to give their best effort and have a #growthmindset . The rest will take care of itself. #moedchat
