#xplap Jen from Northern Ca where it is REALLY COLD!! I had my beloved Elly who was an Elephant. She disintegrated last year in an unfortunate washing machine incident.

My stuffed animal when I was a kid was a dog named Bobby!
Hello everyone. Mariana Garcia Serrato. MS STEM from San Jose, CA. I was never into stuffed animals, but still have and treasure my daughter's "funnybunny" #xplap
hi all. Jay From NE, MS science teacher. I had a yellow bear that I seemed to like when I was a kid, and a old snoopy from my mom. But I usually preferred my dog than a stuffed animal. #xplap

My grandma gave me a stuffed monkey in a racing suit named Speedy. He still has a prominent place in everywhere I’ve lived.

Hi #XPLAP, I'm Patrick. 4th grade teacher from Oshkosh, WI I didn't really have a favorite stuffed animal, but did have a lot of star wars action figures.
Tracey feom Illinois. Teach HS science. Been away from Twitter a few weeks. Glad to be back. Favorite stuffed animal was an orangutan named Gunga. #xplap
A1: I like this one... I started to make "Custom Items" where students fill in a circle to choose what they want this to be... Then that is that forever! They love it. #XPLAP
A1 Added this little bad boy to my collection. I now hold Captain's meetings with each table group. I tell them, and they share the agenda with the class #xplap#letthekidsrunit
A1- I love my ‘Dice of Destiny’ I started last year. Originally there was only one. Now our alliances have searched the ‘Ever-Verse’ to find 4 more! #xplap
A1: I like this one too... Has two purposes. Lifetime adding of BP or battle points for boss battles or a one time use to shave off one pip on a die. #XPLAP
A1 Justin from KS joining in favorite item, so far, is candy consumer, I feel that candy and gum are privileges so this item allows for a free day and not necessary to have a reason (birthdays, test days, or celebrations all get gum or candy) #xplap
A1 I currently only have a few items/cards available for students. First full year of implementation. I am working on
a couple now that were suggested by students. I love that they are so invested in the game. #XPLAP
I LOVE this so much. We have Kindess Week at our school in 2 weeks and need to create something like this! Maybe the Huntsman card since he took pity on Snow White. #xplap
A1: Have an item in my game which they find and then they can help turn it into something greater. It’s called a companion card. So a little pig becomes a war pig and gives the hero more power in the game. #XPLAP
A1 Three of my favs. I like the chaos of the volcano card. I like the headmaster card b/c my daughter dresses up as this part for the card and my videos. #xplap
I'm going to have a lot of weapons, and defense items for my 7th grade game, but haven't made the cards yet. Ss brainstormed what things we should have and found the pics for me. Dinosaurs will be interesting in the game... #xplap
Hi #XPLAP crew! Jocelyn from Toronto jumping in late. This is the stuff I need the most inspiration for, so I will likely do a lot of lurking and liking tonight. :)
A2: My favorite twist is we have been listening to the kingdom's storyteller but he is actually the mastermind behind all the stolen happily ever afters! My kids don't know yet! #xplap
A2 The few times we have played Danger Cards this year, students have always loved/hated the stealing of a player from another team. Thanks again @mrmatera for the great resource. #XPLAP
A2 my fav twist is to let the kids pair up and then tell them, "Ok, look deep into your selected partner's eyes and say GOOD BYE that is the ONE person you CANNOT work with." Oh the groaning! #xplap
A2: Another twist is that we have this one section of our game map that is growing even though they are solving mysteries. They don't know how to stop it from taking over! The Forgotten Realm! #xplap
A2 so a game twist happened when the Ss that I serve wanted to go back to an original “teaching method” so this semester I have gamers and classic kiddos (both get rewards and different advantages) #xplap
A2: I also think think I'm going to have the Giant in my game hold our detectives upside down AND it's going to turn our game upside down with lots of twists for the kids in the middle or bottom of the leaderboard. #xplap
A2: A major twist this year was when I reset the XP for the leaderboard at semester. I have never done that. It was crazy and fun... Gave some new hope to some students. #XPLAP
A2: I have yet to add twists to the game itself. Added some more ways to increase XP/Level up quickly but would not call them twists. Love the growing "forgotten realm" idea from @missmac100. Thinking of what I can do with it... #xplap
Josh! I used (read stole) your idea for Halloween. One student was cursed and all of the teachers got Curse breakers to use, if they felt they needed to. #xplap
A2- Our Super Gillian challenged us to a boss battle and won, sending everyonereeling back to level 10. The twist was that one student had a card that could’ve prevented it but didn’t play it because he was ‘only at level 12’! #xplap
A3: One of my favorite Boss Battles involved using cootie bugs for each group. When they answered correctly, they rolled to see if they could add to their bug. 1st bug completed won! https://t.co/EVTHn00rwE#xplap
A3 My favorite side quests have been my chain reaction quest that demonstrates stored energy. Minecraft body systems quest and animation slide show quest. #xplap
Thanks for sharing Justin... I was thrilled to have @missmac100 help out. She is rocking it tonight! #XPLAP Let me know if you would want to host too Justin!
A2: To review energy flow in ecosystems, groups of students had to complete a three part mission. Once completes, they got to choose a “reward” and some of the rewards weren’t so friendly. They loved it! #xplap
A3) not sure if it counts but, started playing gimkit this unit. I made a vocab kit and posted it for them to practice with and set a goal of 1,000,000 dollars for each student to make. One person completed it the first night (yesterday), and two more have completed now #xplap
A3 I love the interaction during all of boss battles, but I am currently working on a side quest that I think will end up as my favorite. It has scavenger hunt, task completion, and collaboration. No one student will be able to complete it alone. Can't wait to unleash it. #XPLAP
Q4: Last question (so sad ): Show or tell about your favorite game element! It can be anything- currency, dice, resources, how to level groups etc.. #xplap
Me either. This is my first year gamifying, so I am just working to keep the game going. I try to little twists here and there but nothing earth shaking yet. #xplap
A3- My favorite current sidequest is to create an original comic book series. One of my Ss has asked me to collab with him to create the origin story of our game’s super villain using google draw! #xplap
A3: This year I had a pop up boss battle with Sir Ken based on a decision for a boss battle! Guilds who recently trusted Curtis gained that advantage as well!
#XPLAP
A3: Do four core side quests twice a month. My favourite one is Smugglers Story. In which the students meet Cardic who loves a good story. Using story cubes students must tell him a story and he best story earns a portion of his bounty from his raid. #xplap
A2: My favorite twist in my class is during one of our Star Wars themed boss battles, one of the Imperial Cruisers broke into seven mini cruisers after they thought it was destroyed. They were shocked but rallied to defeat the enemy. #xplap
Mine draw them and then build them. I'm thinking of making them calculate mechanical advantage or each simple machine and maybe some other things this year too. #xplap

Huge thanks to @missmac100 for hosting #XPLAP tonight. This is a wonderful community and having people like you host the chat is exciting and fun for all. You did amazing! Loved the topic and your style. Can't wait till next time!
A4 I love the use of dice. Two of my main cards allow Ss to roll a large foam di (thanks @EllisGKMSMath ). It has rounded edges so it never seems to stop rolling when the Ss expect it too. Has made for some great moments. I should try to get a video of a roll this week. #XPLAP
Q3: A new side quest (no Ss has attmpted yet) is to design a 3D printed cookie cutter that has to do with our content. We have a new maker space in our library and I want to encourage students to create! I would borrow their cutter to make the class cookies, of course! #xplap
My favorite sidequest is hidden as an easter egg. It is a Choose Your Own Adventure math story. Ss solved math equations and for every 3 questions they get correct, they can make a choice. There are 4 different endings all following the Battle of Hoth. #xplap
I’ve been trying to figure this out since school began in August. You have no idea how grateful I am to both you and @MrPowley for sharing your student dashboards. #xplap
Thanks so much for asking. SO many great ideas were shared tonight! Show and Tell still rocks! :) I can't wait to go back and see all I missed and look closely at all the ideas. #xplap
A4: My favorite game element is more of a mood setter. Whenever we do a boss battle, I put on the Imperial March and I have a slide show that cues up the boss we are fighting. As soon as they hear the music, they look at each other and say, "uh oh" and grin. #xplap
I have been slowly adding hidden elements within the room, in the school, and within quests. Some are physical items or riddles they need to solve to earn a prize. It allows me to provide the MarioKart factor. Those at the front don’t always get the coolest items. #xplap
I love this idea. I was going to try to do a similar thing with Mastermind, which was my all time favorite game when I was growing up. I figure groups that complete part of the task correctly gets a shot at cracking the mastermind code. #xplap
Thanks for another amazing chat #xplap pln! You are doing amazing things in your classrooms. Thank you to @missmac100 for leading the chat, you're a rock star. Thanks to @mrmatera for bringing us all together. I can't wait to pour over all of these ideas.
