My curriculum would ensure that the school library would be essential to every topic. Research skills would be taught in collaboration with the librarian and no teachers would be allowed to share anything that was not referenced. 'for educations purposes' is no excuse :) #sunchat
I love that as a band teacher, my "curriculum" changes yearly b/c of music taught. Pieces have to be picked to fit each group that year. Still have specific goals, but very different ways to hit them every year. #sunchat#musedchat

The change needs to come from the top. If headteachers and SLT really understood the power of the school library things would change. Make every child a reader comes from having a good school library with qualified librarians #sunchat

Got it! Hmmm. Since I am a literacy coach,my focus would be embedded literacy throughout all content areas so Ss could see that they are applying literacy in everything they do. Reading, writing, research, metacognition, etc #sunchat

Classroom environments can encourage Ss to see learning as process toward mastery, not a grade. Deep learning as opposed to surface learning where content is never conceptually understood. #sunchat

Agreed! Good habits come from demonstrating good practice and expecting more. Teachers need to know that school librarians can help with bibliographic tools and will even teach these tools/skills to students. #sunchat#schoollibrariesmatter
