Hey everybody! My name is Clarissa Miles. I am one of the hosts tonight and I am the Tech Coach at Roy Waldron and LaVergne Primary. I am very passionate about blended learning and am excited to be leading tonight's chat! #rcstechchat My favorite restaurant is Rafferty's.
Thank you so much for joining tonight's #rcstechchat! Please make sure you include the hastag #rcstechchat with every post tonight. Please look at each image that we tweet out for the questions. Let's get started!
Keep the introductions coming! We encourage you to respond to each other through out the chat tonight! We want to share and collaborate together as much as possible. First question coming up in 1 minute. You will need to read this definition before answering Q1 #rcstechchat
Here is the definition again in case you missed it of what Blended Learning is. You will need to read this thoroughly before answering Q1. #rcstechchat
A1-BL helps cater to the individual needs of the learner, most students have unique learning styles and a blended approach is more likely to cater to those needs than a traditional classroom teaching experience. BL tailors the learning experience for each student #rcstechchat
Blended learning enables the teacher to differentate instruction, helps keeps students engaged and allows the teacher to work one-on-one or in small groups while other students keep learning. #rcstechchat
A1 Teachers and students would have more freedom to teach /learn at their own pace... Everyone learns differently. There would be reinforcing concepts thru each method.#rcstechchat
A1 I believe that blended learning allows the teacher to individualize their support to each child, as well as extra support for students through the help of their teacher and peers! #RCSTechChat
Blended learning enables the teacher to differentate instruction, helps keeps students engaged and allows the teacher to work one-on-one or in small groups while other students keep learning. #rcstechchat
A1: Blended learning provides opportunities for more differentiated learning in the classroom. It would also help cater to pacing/timing demands for the teacher to ensure success of all students through various teaching outlets! Small group, whole group, & with peers #rcstechchat
A1 - It seems to me that blended learning provides teachers and students the opportunity to teach/learn in engaging ways - technology, peer to peer, etc. #rcstechchat
A1-Blended Learning provides more opportunities for individualized instruction in small groups face to face with the teacher! The teacher small group is by far the most important aspect of blended learning. More differentiation, more feedback, more learning. #rcstechchat
A1 Blended learning would afford the ability to go deeper in some subjects For example, if I can intro a subject online then I can use the in class time for more projects and getting deeper into the subject matter #rcstechchat
A1: Blended learning helps differentiate learning for each student, allows for more one on one interactions between the teacher and student, and is a great way to include children's individual interests. #rcstechchat
Q1: our students blend learning on a daily basis without knowing its blended learning. Blending learning as a teacher helps us teach our kids how they learn best. #rcstechchat
A1-My favorite part of blended learning is the small group instruction because so many students are intimidated by a whole class discussion. #rcstechchat
A1- In all honesty, BL allows me to not be so tired when I get home because I haven’t done all the work! 😉 Students are engaged and growing with each other #rcstechchat
A1-Blended learning allows students to have some autonomy in the learning environment and therefore, more buy in, during class time. The teacher can really facilitate the learning and work with those students who need one on one. #rcstechchat
A1: Blended learning allows me to touch base with many more students in my class and lets me differentiate for a wider range of learners. Fewer students fall behind and the more academic students get a better shot at enrichment #rcstechchat
A2- I assist in a 4thgr class where BL takes place. We give students their assignments in onenote for the week and they are able to work at their pace. They also track their data. If they finish early they have choices. See example here-https://t.co/kISAqnIkN1#rcstechchat
A2 - we are doing a novel now and in place of an assessment, we have given them project options. That way students have choice and buy in. #rcstechchat
A2 Lots of teachers provide a "menu" of assignments to choose from and to work on in their own pace. Some are online, some are written. All are purposeful to the content. #rcstechchat
A2 I try to give student choice during seat work during centers. I allow them to choose questions/problem they want to answer. Our school uses iReady and Imagine Learning. Both teach lessons on student pace and level! #rcstechchat
A2-Ts at our school have several programs that allow students to move at their own pace that are adaptive to their individual needs. Tic-Tac-Toe choice boards are often a good tool to use with students. #rcstechchat
A 2: I use a must do/may do system during centers and small group learning centers to allow choice. I need to work on "at their own pace" by adding projects instead of 1 day activities. #RCSTechChat
A2 Lots of teachers provide a "menu" of assignments to choose from and to work on in their own pace. Some are online, some are written. All are purposeful to the content. #rcstechchat
A1: BL provides more opportunities for students to be responsible for their own learning. They are also able to extend their learning on topics that they find more interesting. This is a good resource for teachers because it gives them time to go deeeper #rcstechchat
#rcstechchat A2 - with smaller classes we can individually work with students more often.... secondly, since we have smaller classes we can get to know the students better and understand just how they learn....
A1: It allows me to provide different entry points for different learners and touch base with more students who are learning to work independently. #rcstechchat
A2 - we are doing a novel now and in place of an assessment, we have given them project options. That way students have choice and buy in. #rcstechchat
A2 So Im getting the impression that there’s a lot of teaching options going on in a classroom with multiple ways for a child to work and respond, usually with technology as a piece? #rcstechchat
A2 - I use Nearpod, Playposit, OneNote, etc. combined with traditional stations that students complete at their own pace. I set up the lessons and they have until a certain time to complete them all. Some they can work on together, but others are individual work. #rcstechchat
A2 we are small so we provide many different opportunities for blended learning. We are also on block schedule so we have 90 minutes to mix different types of learning into one class period. #rcstechchat
A2: We certainly utilize #iReady and #Razkids. Another opportunity the students have is during small group stations. They students are able to work at their pace at the stations! #rcstechchat
Q2: Student choice is also an important piece of BL. When researching, we have the opportunity to offer choice of topic within some standard-driven parameters. #rcstechchat
#rcstechchat A2 - some assign homework in one note on Monday and students have until Friday to turn this in . BL is also used in rotation groups. Menus are provided to give students choice
A 2: I use a must do/may do system during centers and small group learning centers to allow choice. I need to work on "at their own pace" by adding projects instead of 1 day activities. #RCSTechChat
A2 So Im getting the impression that there’s a lot of teaching options going on in a classroom with multiple ways for a child to work and respond, usually with technology as a piece? #rcstechchat
A2 This would lead to better engagement. If I could provide a list of weekly assignments for the students to work on at their own pace it could be beneficial because we could use our class time to enhance learning and work together in small groups or 1/1 w me #rcstechchat
A2: In my math classes their are different levels of questions within the same unit that students can work on depending on their skill level. #rcstechchat
A2-iReady offers students the ability to work at their own pace while also focusing on standards being taught in class. I would love to see that happen in ELA, no matter what the pricetag! #RCSTechChat
A2 mine are loving creating PowerPoints right now, so they were able to choose a person to research online from a list of historic figures I gave them with a few specific questions they had to answer and then any other interesting facts. As they finish they present. #rcstechchat
A2-I use stations that have a variety of activities. They have a "job" and then a "game." They may not enjoy the job, but they will do it to get to the game. #rcstechchat
Usually it is something like this. Maybe the one in the middle is what students have to do and then they have to do two more to get three in a row. #rcstechchat
A2) I give my students math-related choices after they complete their necessary math work for the day. You can still incorporate rigor while also giving choices #rcstechchat
Yes, but not everything has to be technology centered. #rcstechchat Stations/paths can be paper pencil too. But yes, tech would be intertwined in there along the way. #rcstechchat
A2 So Im getting the impression that there’s a lot of teaching options going on in a classroom with multiple ways for a child to work and respond, usually with technology as a piece? #rcstechchat
A3- I have noticed that students are more excited to come to class with the BL model. Its new and engaging. They feel more successful and more in control. I have noticed that SPED students are more involved and successful. #rcstechchat
A2: In my classroom, I send students homework home for the week on Monday and they have till Friday to complete it. Also, we use MobyMax which gives students lessons that they are to complete at their own pace. #rcstechchat
A3 when we give them more control over their learning they learn to be responsible but they also have the chance to choose what they enjoy. If they enjoy working in groups they can or if they need 1/1 they can do that to #rcstechchat
A2: My school district makes extensive use of Google Classroom. This allows me to provide work as needed, including differentiated work. Most of my courses are centered around technology and students are encouraged to approach the problem creatively. #rcstechchat
A3 Pride of ownership is one of the most important factors in students that control the learning. They almost always do more than I ever imagined they would! And the comprehension is through the roof! #rcstechchat
A3: Recently brought BL into math. It has made instruction with manipulatives much easier! Ever tired to show 7 year olds how to count snap cubes without having them play?!? #RCSTechChat#iready#bigbrainz
#rcstechchat A3 -When students have a choice , they take more ownership of their work. With middle school students , they feel more in control when they choose what they do or don’t do in terms of homework and class work
#rcstechchat A3 student led learning gives them pride and the ability to take ownership in their lessons....this results in increased participation and higher scores
A3) I have watched my students show a stronger interest in everyday work. Our classroom feels much more lighter and ALL students are confident in themselves as students, when they work at their own pace #rcstechchat
A2- I use TASKS instead of goals. Students (small groups) pick their own track and work up to technology component of sharing what they’ve learned. This allows me time to continuously rotate with groups and/or individuals. #rcstechchat
Q2-I have a few Ts beginning to use Class Notebook, so that will help with them giving them more choice. Before today's PD, I had Ts tasks I normally would've had them do during class time, but by doing b4 hand, we had more time for the hands-on piece of Mys. Skype!#rcstechchat
A3- I feel they are just more engaged and have that confidence they can do anything and learn anything when you show them different ways...#rcstechchat
A3 - Students are more engaged...no more fighting for their attention! They also feel like the time passes way quicker (and the teacher does, too!) Students have to problem solve more, too! #rcstechchat
A3 In my Pre-Ap class, students are given work at the beginning of the week and are expected to work on their own pace to get it done by the end of the week. They have to learn time management! #rcstechchat
A3: Students seem more engaged and interested in learning. The high achieving students are not bored with the material and the lower level learners can feel success. #rcstechchat
Q3: They love it! They get to work at their own pace with choice and ownership of their learning. Our tech coaches are great at modeling BL with us in PD @TechCoachMandyJ#rcstechchat
A3: Students are definitely more engaged when you give them more control over their learning. It is more entertaining versus sitting there following procedure after procedure.
#rcstechchat
A3: By making the Ss responsible for submitting activity on Seesaw, I have seen more engagement in stations. They are less likely to lose work, and they take more pride in it knowing they have to capture it with photo/video evidence! #rcstechchat#iLOVE@Seesaw 📷📓📝
A3 In my Pre-Ap class, students are given work at the beginning of the week and are expected to work on their own pace to get it done by the end of the week. They have to learn time management! #rcstechchat
A2 Using "Choice Boards" in my classroom has been an effective way to allow students to choose the types of learning activities the want to engage in.
#rcstechchat
A3 - Typically the kids are more engaged and quieter. They hate listening to me talk. They like the instant feedback and the ability to rewind/repeat without having to raise their hand to ask questions. Most off these activities can also be done at home. #rcstechchat
A3: Students get more involved in their learning and want to explore it a little deeper than in previous years. Students see it as more relevant to their interests and future. It gels well with the idea of culturally relevant pedagogy, which is big in my district. #rcstechchat
A3-When students feel like they have a choice and really care about what they are doing they will work harder! MS and HS students love blended learning (station rotations) too. Centers are not just for elementary. Classes are more engaged! #rcstechchat
A3-Letting them choose the activity provides instant ownership and they are immediately hooked. Mine also like to take pictures of their work and upload it to Seesaw. They do their best work because it is going to be shared! #rcstechchat
Question 4- Make sure to put A4 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make. We are half way done after this question.
A3-Letting them choose the activity provides instant ownership and they are immediately hooked. Mine also like to take pictures of their work and upload it to Seesaw. They do their best work because it is going to be shared! #rcstechchat
Great point. My kids are so used to having instant gratification that they have trouble with a lot of things that require patience. This helps to alleviate that stress in order to allow learning to happen. #rcstechchat
I completely agree and think that the key word is choice. Students feel more in charge of their own learning. I also love the idea of stations. #rcstechchat
A3-When students feel like they have a choice and really care about what they are doing they will work harder! MS and HS students love blended learning (station rotations) too. Centers are not just for elementary. Classes are more engaged! #rcstechchat
A3-Initially, there can be push-back bc, Ss aren't used to making those choices, but overall, once they realize they do have a say in their learning, Ss look forward to class and behavior, overall, improves. #rcstechchat
A4- Getting to know students better, able to help them more intently and meet them where they are. More time to have meaningful interactions. I feel like more gets accomplished. #rcstechchat
A4: Even though the face time is less time, I have more QUALITY time. I'm also able to use my tech for accountability to give feedback later. Raz Kids, especially! #RCSTechChat
A4 if i can have more face to face time with small groups I can help the ss more thoroughly. No one gets passed over because they are quiet and unwilling to participate #rcstechchat
They tell me in the hall every day they have uploaded a picture to @Seesaw Next step we need to add some audio. We might be able to get 3rd grade or MS student to come show them how to do that. It might be fun! #rcstechchat
A4 The biggest benefit for "face time" in small groups is finding out what students struggle with and having time to work on that particular concept to accomplish the goal. This instruction can change daily and/or weekly. #rcstechchat
A4: I think that a lot of students learn better when you get chance to talk directly to them. It allows the teacher to see what areas the student(s) are having difficulty in and hopefully discuss any problems with the work assigned. #rcstechchat
Q4 Face to face time allows Ts to give feedback and remediate on a more personal level. Individual needs are easier to meet. It’s also great for building relationships with the kids. #rcstechchat
A4 I love face to face time with writing conferencing. Students benefit so much from getting live feedback as opposed to red marks on paper. #rcstechchat
A4 I love face to face time with writing conferencing. Students benefit so much from getting live feedback as opposed to red marks on paper. #rcstechchat
A4: Small groups are very beneficial for catching the specific skills students are struggling with. Sometimes students are able to mask problem areas in whole group, but not having all their peers watching might make them more comfortable with sharing their issues.
#rcstechchat
A4: I feel like I better connect with students on a personal level when I'm engaging with them face-to-face. When it's more personal, students buy in more. There's still room for lecture-style teaching, but I get get more mileage out of my learners when they buy in #rcstechchat
A4: Face to face time in small group allows me to target more specific needs. I can group based on proven data to target deficits and to enhance and challenge in areas of deeper understanding! #smallgroup#rcstechchat
They tell me in the hall every day they have uploaded a picture to @Seesaw Next step we need to add some audio. We might be able to get 3rd grade or MS student to come show them how to do that. It might be fun! #rcstechchat
A4) There are SO many benefits. Your teacher-student bond strengthens, you see exactly where the "holes" in their learning are, you ensure undivided attention, you can go into greater depth with struggling kids without losing the rest of the group #rcstechchat
I am glad you mentioned that students who are shy and/or quiet have a better chance to ask questions when it is face-to-face in small groups. This allows all students to feel included in the discussion. #rcstechchat
A4 if i can have more face to face time with small groups I can help the ss more thoroughly. No one gets passed over because they are quiet and unwilling to participate #rcstechchat
A4 - For one, some students NEVER get that time with a teacher in a regular day. Sad, but true! Building those relationships in small group help with the motivation to learn, too! #rcstechchat
A4 Catching the misconceptions before they can get too far, but also it really gives my quieter learners a chance to talk to me without the pressure from their peers. #rcstechchat
A4 - For one, some students NEVER get that time with a teacher in a regular day. Sad, but true! Building those relationships in small group help with the motivation to learn, too! #rcstechchat
A4-Who doesn't want more time with their Ss to work on what they really need? Blended learning gives Ts the opportunity to really work individual deficits and strengths. Also this builds better student-teacher relationships. Less behavior problems anyone? Yes please! #rcstechchat
A3 Especially in my journalism class I find that my students work so much harder when they set their own goals and hold one another accountable for completion of projects. #rcstechchat
And when we get more face time with students, it's more likely that we get to identify those students who would traditionally fall through the cracks. #rcstechchat
Yay!! I try to convince everyone to try it! #advocate the only thing I wish is that the kindle app listed the activities feature like the iPad and computer! @Seesaw#rcstechchat

#rcstechchat A4 - More quality time for students . It is like all students have an individual learning plan. This is what is real and right for all kiddos
yes! I have several students I can think of that only speak during class when I call on them specifically. One on one time is so good for kids like that #rcstechchat
A4-This is so sad, but if I don't to small groups throughout the day I go home and think....Did I even talk to (insert name) today? Small groups are great for instruction but also just to give our students our focused attention. #rcstechchat
Question 5- Make sure to put A5 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
A4 (part 2)-Implementing this in MS and HS is just as important! Getting to know those students better during a small group can make all the difference to them. #rcstechchat
I love the data chats. I used to do those with my students when I was in a classroom. They knew where they were and where they needed to go. #rcstechchat
A4-Being able to focus on and meet the needs of those individual students during the F2F time. You get so much more quality time while the other students are engaged in their other learning stations. #rcstechchat
A5 - I like to put the resources all in one place for students on a Padlet or in OneNote...somewhere so they don't have to click around much to find it at the student stations. #rcstechchat
A4 Face to face time helps T's see their students for the individuals that they are. I think it is especially important for quiet students or our EL students who are nervous to speak or participate in a large group. #rcstechchat
A5 Students can access the tools on the computer through the school website or in a student folder on the desktop. On the iPads, they just have to click on the app. #RCSTechChat
A5 I keep my website updated and I also like to use remind to keep my students abreast of what is coming up in class. I teach AP lang so that helps when we are prepping for the AP test #rcstechchat
A5: Students use chromebooks and their phones to access my website and google classroom. However, computers are not always available so I need to make sure to plan accordingly. #rcstechchat
A5 I don't have many resources outside classroom computers currently. But I've seen tablets used in other classrooms to play educational games. And I love when teachers use the elmo to allow ss to share their work with the class. #rcstechchat
A5) I have limited technology in my classroom. However, I incorporate my 4 computers into reading and math rotations everyday, as well as for infrequent student research. I love IReady and MobyMax for my kids that are ahead of the group, to keep their learning rolling #rcstechchat
In compuer lab, It's very difficult for 1st graders, so I took the extra time and made Chrome pull up on default all of our typical programs. #RCSTechChat
A5 I’m lucky enough to have a laptop lab in my classroom so the majority of my students do their tech related assignments in class. Occasionally they do use their personal devices. Some don’t have tech at home so I make sure they have opportunities at school.#rcstechchat
A5 All I really have is a web type camera for demos and a couple of old student computers of which only one works, soooo... art class & technology = :(
#rcstechchat
A5: I try to have students using 1-1 computer access through PCs, iPads or Chromebooks. We also use Google Classroom extensively. Google Classroom has helped SO MUCH with my own organization, which helps with student success because I'm not scrambling to find things. #rcstechchat
Blended learning is great for the low-tech classroom. You may only have one station that is technology based, but BL is still happening! I tell my teachers to split up and share a lab...grab a few iPads or laptops and you're good to go! #rcstechchat
A4 The classroom culture changed in my rough MS environment when I started working in small collaborative groups with teacher time. Built great relationships with Ts =better behavior #rcstechchat
Question 6- Make sure to put A6 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
A5- teacher website, Class Notebook, Padlet, S’more, seesaw- I use and have teachers who use all of these. I think it’s about finding what best fits the teacher and class. #rcstechchat
A5 I teach ESL, in a portable, with very limited technology. I would love to learn how to use the technology I have to incorporate Blended Learning into my instruction.
#rcstechchat
A5-I use student computers, iPads, and the Elmo. As far as organization, we go to student resources on our webpage. Thank you @Tibbstechcoach! #rcstechchat
A6-See if BYOD is an option. Create paths/stations that cater to multiple students at one time or that do not use any technology. Some can be paper/pencil. Have students sharing the devices you do have. #rcstechchat
A6 - I am a big advocate of BYOD - Bring Your Own Device. Not every student has one, but the majority of them do. Annnd they're usually nicer than mine! #rcstechchat
A6: I try to get students to work together if it is appropriate for the work assigned. This also allows students to share ideas and learn from their peers. #rcstechchat
A6 I incorporate it into a center during small group. During math, I try to get them on there 45 minutes a week. For ELA, they get 15 minutes per day. #RCSTechChat
A6: Using Chromebooks in my district has really helped. It's a lot cheaper to get toward 1-to-1. But I've also encouraged students to BYOD and partner up. Partnering up forces some students to learn to work together. If all else fails, rotating students can work. #rcstechchat
A6) Being intentional about getting all students onto classroom computers as much as possible is key. AND remembering to do so. Even if theres only 10 minutes here or there, make sure to get someone working on an online differentiated application #rcstechchat
I have made a schedule for my students as far as computer time. So if i posed a BL question on Monday and had everyone use their computer day to explore it, we could discuss it together on Friday. I could even send something about the question home for hw as well
#rcstechchat
A6-BYOD is great if your students are old enough because so many times they have a device so why not put them to good use. Also, that is why stations work so nice. They don't all have to be on computers. #rcstechchat
A6 I agree that for middle School and high school BYOD works best. I only have two computers and access to laptop or IPad labs, but for small activities like polls or surveys BYOD works well. #rcstechchat
A6 If you have only a few student computers , you can still use them in rotating stations. The computers can be a station that goes along with traditional “paper” activities. This works well if you can sign on in advance so time isn’t wasted. #rcstechchat
A6-Not every lesson needs technology, but if it needed, a station where students in the group can share the technology with a reporter to record answers, if needed. #rcstechchat
A6 Rotations is a big part of making sure every student gets technology time daily, but also when I do Kahoots! or other such things I make it a team effort which usually helps keep them even more engaged cause they're pretty competitive, in a good way. :) #rcstechchat
A6 If you have only a few student computers , you can still use them in rotating stations. The computers can be a station that goes along with traditional “paper” activities. This works well if you can sign on in advance so time isn’t wasted. #rcstechchat
Question 7- Make sure to put A7 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
A6) Pedagogy before tools people. 1:1 will not close the achievement gap. Effective execution of BL is critical. Otherwise, we're wasting time and money. #rcstechchat
A6-I have three different times during the day for 20 minute computer stations....am centers, Literacy stations, and Math stations. I only have four groups in my class, so almost all of my students get on each day. #rcstechchat
A7- Lots of practice! and I use @classdojo, it allows you to give an take away points from where you are and the noises they generate gets the students attention. I also have them track their own data and share it with their parents so parents are involved too. #rcstechchat
Question 7- Make sure to put A7 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
A6: BYOD, rotations, or activities from home. A rotation with the devices is very useful in stretching limited technology! I put the kindles/ipads I have in a basket, and the kiddos grab them as they need to to record or submit work! #rcstechchat
Question 6- Make sure to put A6 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
Question 7- Make sure to put A7 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
A7 - There has to be an accountability piece in place. Guided notes or something to "turn in". Also, role play and practice procedures a few times before letting them loose! #rcstechchat
A 7: I use Class Dojo to help monitor timing and behavior. I do not have to address an individual issue by yelling across the room. I push a button, problem fixed! #RCSTechChat
#RCSTechChat A6 students use devices , iPads can be checked out, desktops and laptops. Very fortunate to have plenty of devices; however, for those not so lucky. This could be accessed through stations , students could pair up and share
A6- simple grouping and rotation can alleviate some of the frustration. Tech labs and portable tech labs are lifesavers. Thank you @tcarey98#rcstechchat
Question 5- Make sure to put A5 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
@mylifeasatechie A7- procedures and routines are a must- having defined rotations, pre-planned. This is not a “fly by the seat of your pants” kind of thing. #rcstechchat
A7 Students should definitely be given rules and expectations up front. Timers and schedules posted is also great, so students can monitor their time, especially if they're rotating. #rcstechchat
A7-Teacher clarity! Be clear on your directions so that students know what to expect. It is ok for things not to work right but have a back up plan for when they don't. #rcstechchat
A7: You play how you practice! You have to instill the responsibility as you go along! Also allowing parents access to view the work or allowing to share with other peers makes the students want to take greater pride! #makeitworthit#rcstechchat
A7: I feel like I'm shilling Google Classroom here, but it helps me manage what's going on and where students are in my class. Especially helpful for tracking students who usually half-finish work in class and drop it in the recycling bin on the way out. #rcstechchat
A7 - First of all, rules must be communicated before starting blended learning (rotations). After laying the ground rules, Dojo is the best for managing behaviors! #rcstechchat
A7: I like to be organized and make sure that students are aware of the expectations and what the end goal is. I also want to create an environment where students buy into Blended Learning and therefore want to be part of it. #rcstechchat
A7 our school uses live school for student points. They can take the points the earn and shop at our cougar mart. Students can see who gets points - eliminates a lot of classroom bad behavior immediately. #rcstechchat
Sorry for those of you not seeing the questions but I promise the Questions are posting....you may miss one but you can scroll through your tweetdeck feed! They are all posted. #rcstechchat
Guys we are almost done and I am so proud of you all! The last question will post in 1 minute. Make sure you don't log off until completing the form at the end if you are wanting PD credit for this chat ;-) #rcstechchat
A7 Using timed rotations so that if you have limited technology, all students have a chance to have small group time with the teacher and interact with technology.
#rcstechchat
Question 7- Make sure to put A7 with your response to this question. Also, try tweeting and responding to others in this chat and add the hashtag #rcstechchat to every post you make.
A7) The timer on ClassDojo keeps them on task without me having to say a word! Additionally, having consistent guidelines and enforcing them all year long is crucial in allowing kids to work independently and for it to go smoothly #rcstechchat
A7 I like to let the students set some norms for blended learning just like we set them for PLC groups. We have a set for each class. Some get very interesting. #rcstechchat
#RCSTechChat A7 - Timers are wonderful for students and teachers. Everyone stays on track. If students know the expectations they will follow through with expected behavior. Students are truly engaged in BL and there do not get off task. Capture, Inspire, and learn
A7 - expectations are key. Motivate and encourage them on their way to their goals. Give a set time and let them live up to your expectations. When they fall short, give a stricter expectation. #rcstechchat
A7 Ss need to know the expectations & that you aren’t just giving them busy work. Anything I give them impacts their grade. They also know that they can be pulled off the computer if they abuse the freedom. I try to keep the activities diverse, so they stay engaged. #rcstechchat
Last question! Question 8- Make sure to put A8 with your response to this question. Make sure you wait for the form to be tweeted at the end before you log off if you are wanting to receive PD credit for tonight's chat! #rcstechchat
A7-Ts must expect the 1st couple times of starting a new learning environment to be a hot mess, but realize that it gets easier as Ss adjust to the new expectations. You have to persevere to excellence!

A8: I read a lot of tweets about stations and would love to incorporate more into my classroom. I think this provides a variety of learning styles for Ss, gets them up and moving around and a chance to work with peers on questions. #rcstechchat
A8) I could incorporate a BYOD day in my classroom. I think most, if not all, of my students would be willing to participate using a device from home and I could spend a whole day using differentiated BL. It would make for an awesome Friday/ end of week incentive #rcstechchat

A8: A lot of people talked about using stations in order to manage learning in class. My class has Ss working on many different things, but Ss are scattered. I'd like to start using physical space to manage stations so Ss can work together instead of independently. #rcstechchat
A8- I believe just showing and motivating students each day and showing them there is not just one way to learn.. it’s our job to meet each students needs and give them the best chance to learn...#rcstechchat
