Same here Nicole. I've been up since 4:45!!! Sitting on deck w/ coffee listening to the morning wake up.
Love attending and volunteering all the school functions. i.e. Carnival, Spring Fling, etc.
I/we advocate for our students & school in the community through our Business Advisory Council.
I started a club at my school where we work at their ReStore & help build homes on local sites.
1st thing you can do to help a school community and make sure teachers feel listened to. They are the linchpins to the whole thing.

I created a Creative Writing Club that is an outlet for Ss who often can't find one
One of the biggest things I do is mentor kids at my church and teach parents how to be advocates for their kids

That is so important for students to feel your presence. My students love to see my grocery cart or me cheering.
In my utopian society, schools and YMCAs are blended, open all day, and serve a role in local communities.
At the heart of good teaching / education is the fostering of hope in the Ss and positive relationships

I'm a few miles from the base. I can hear the horn at 6, 5, and 10. And FEEL and hear the bomb practice.
It's key that all staff feel the same about the school. All must be on board. If not, find out why, and fix it.
I really think Ss know when you genuinely like them and they respond to that.

I love to arrange opportunities for parents/guests to come in, like a poetry reading, guest speakers... 60's Coffeehouse coming up!
