A1pt 2, leads me to next step, helps to grow, set new goals,
-
google searched "great to chat with you" in thai: ที่ดีในการ สนทนากับคุณ
-
A1 feedback as a professional is informed reflection on what's working and what's not. Helps guide practice
-
Yes! Feedback is both informational and actionable! https://t.co/VQVsOuNOKc
-
-
A1:feedback is how we grow and show others what we know
-
Q1 answer: Feedback is anything that acknowledges your communication attempt.
-
A1 most influencal act that a teacher can do to promote learning, if you do one thing do this https://t.co/eGMMhPy1wk
-
-
Q1: What is feedback to you?
-
Agree! Feedback drives teaching as much as learning!
-
A1 Feedback encourages students to keep exploring possibilities and asking new questions; reflects on areas to expand/improve
-
this broader definition is key, too often feedback is narrowly defined
-
My Thai isn't that good yet, 😀! Great chatting with you too
-
☺️ I enjoy ! Interact w/great colleagues here
-
A1. Any information, ideas, to guide individuals to better understanding and learning.
-
A1: feedback is a constructive response to task; its goal is to address learning strengths & areas of potential growth
-
A1: Feedback is what takes a Ss understanding to the next level. Correcting mistakes and enriching correct answers.
-
A1b Feedback has implicit message of: "I see you, I hear you, I want to help you grow." Important for soc emo lrng as well
-
Love how Sean highlights that feedback furthers learning across the spectrum of comp. https://t.co/6riOdDDEpR
-
-
A1: Feedback is what takes a Ss understanding to the next level. Correcting mistakes and enriching correct answers.
-
A1 feedback is a dialogue between collaborators that have established a mutual goal, intentional and aims for understanding
-
totally agree! I tend to think of feedback as a cycle that pushes everyone to the next level
-
-
Great discussion on feedback happening in
-
Q: What are different mediums you can use to give feedback? When do you use them? Who is giving the feedback to whom?
-
A1 When I plug in my electric guitar, I hear feedback and know that something is not how I want it to be...and change it!
-
Q2 repost: What are different mediums you can use to give feedback? When do you use them? Who is giving the feedback to whom?
-
yes! And that aspect of collaboration goes far in actually coming to reach those goals.
-
Hi Arrive a bit late. Was in Pittsburgh visiting son. Shai from PA HS Math T
-
Love the metaphor! Some times you need to pull out the tuner too! (learning outcomes) haha https://t.co/InyWu6HdXo
-
-
A1 When I plug in my electric guitar, I hear feedback and know that something is not how I want it to be...and change it!
-
A2 Lots of#edtech tools to help use survys for Ss to self-assess, give me input, both Ss & Ts impt
-
this definition of feedback really resonates with me. Basically, in the classroom, Ss and teachers need tuning
-
A2: I taught my students Q's to consider for problem solving and based 1-1 discussion around them
-
A2 I use my stern teacher face to give feedback to off-task middle school students. Also 😜
-
A2 I like to give comments to the whole class on patterns I've noticed. Emphasizes they're not alone
-
Hey ShaI! Hope you had a great weekend!
-
A1: Feedback is what makes a student grow as a learner. Without feedback, one remains stagnant.
-
Verbal and written in person and online in my class feedback is given: T to Ss, Ss to Ss and Ss to T https://t.co/eF8JFru7KB
-
-
Q: What are different mediums you can use to give feedback? When do you use them? Who is giving the feedback to whom?
-
A2: f2f, Edmodo, GAFE, recording; feedback may come from students, teachers, and/or other instructional leaders.
-
Great strategy! Do you find it easy for students to follow up on class-wide feedback? https://t.co/EbzQtTtSqx
-
-
A2 I like to give comments to the whole class on patterns I've noticed. Emphasizes they're not alone
-
Thanks Craig! Would have to say the same about you!
-
yes, needs a buy in from all sides
-
Feel free to post multiple tweets per question! Let's dig deep!
-
words: a2 written and spoken. Physical actions, nod of a head or thumbs up. Ask why?
-
Q2: I like to gather feedback via FA in order to adjust instantly while building a culture of pos. feedback so each S grows
-
Recording? How does that work in your classroom?
-
Teachers are the band leaders or orchestra conductors in the classroom... https://t.co/mJcayYbqOr
-
-
this definition of feedback really resonates with me. Basically, in the classroom, Ss and teachers need tuning
-
A2: I like to gather feedback via FA in order to adjust instantly while building a culture of pos. feedback so each S grows
-
A2: peer/teacher feedback; checklists, rubrics, anecdotal notes; written, verbal, audiovisual
-
Type in the feedback on GoFormative or call them up one on one. I do whole group reflection. Mostly T-S but sometimes S-S
-
yes at graduate level, or with individual check-ins. Privilege of a small class. Have to attend to it somehow
-
and I'd add that's how teachers grow as well!
-
Q3 coming up in 1 minute!
-
A2: Feedback can be verbal, digitally written, written on paper, nonvebal. T to Ss, Ss to Ss, Ss to T, Ss to Ps, Ts to Ps
-
Do you find specific situations when one type of feedback is more appropriate than another?
-
-
-
I review snapshot of work on formative morning of class and have meaningful discussions as kids enter class
-
Q3: What are strategies for creating an ongoing feedback loop between you and your students? What are the benefits?
-
A2 cont.a cycle that can involve learners and facilitators at all levels, must first be embedded in the school culture.
-
It is a web, but no one that traps you and kills your learning, one that makes you stronger and better.
-
-
A3: Not sure of a strategy, but when you create a positive learning culture where Ss aren't afraid to take risks, it helps.
-
yes - rubrics, for example may show what Ss have done at what level, but gives little feedback on how to improve.
-
A3:I think it's essential to create an environment where students "fail forward" & know that the loop is part of the process
-
I think we both have the same idea! It starts with a culture!
-
yes, Ss may infer what needs to be done but clarification, planning with T is important
-
A3: co-constructed feedback, self-peer feedback on tasks before submission for eval &a space for teacher descriptive feedback
-
record Ss, myself, or Ts to determine if goals are met and/or ID other opportunities for growth. Audio/video
-
rubrics can be frustrating when not utilized by Ss w/ work in progress; verbal comm w/ rubric, key
-
failing forward indicates improvement. how can we get students to realize they really are improving?
-
A3 Provide support, regular checkins, Ss feel comfort asking ?, taking fdbk & giving me input too
-
A3: cont. With flipping my class, I have time to have ongoing cycles of f2f convos with Ss as well.
-
A3. Nurture a growth mindset from feedback. "I love that you made that mistake because it brings up a great point...!"
-
absolutely! I ❤️ mistakes because it means I tried! Starting my first unit tomorrow & will learn tons I'm sure😉
-
as others mentioned. When sincere, authentic, and honest, that dialog continues .. Also need to adjust goals
-
A3: Social media is a must. Students are raised on it and teachers must embrace.
-
interesting, can you give an example of adjust goals to continue feedback loop?
-
flipping a class the right way seems to be tailor-made to speed up the feedback loop
-
I'm having students blog for the first time & am hoping it allows the to easily review their progress & process
-
what social media do you use in your classroom? do you find that one is better for certain things?
-
I'll let you know how it goes though 😁
-
Forms of aided schools, based on a daily basis and the transformed scale.
-
A3. Point out your own failures as a teacher and how you are learning from them.
-
which platform are you using?
-
such a great point - it humanizes you and makes it ok for students to learn from their failures
-
A3 make yourself available, model change, act upon feedback that you get, teach strategies that facilitate thinking
-
what types of social media are you using and how? I love the idea but have been timid
-
yes- rubrics can be final! A co-constructed met/not met checklist gives Ss the opportunity to persevere
-
A3 verbal conv. RELATIONSHIPS! the flexibility of and interested in
-
-
Great way for students to illustrate their progress, make it personal, and connect experiences! https://t.co/BIsDv7ALmE
-
-
I'm having students blog for the first time & am hoping it allows the to easily review their progress & process
-
Edmodo is my tool of choice. I use Twitter to share and with students, parents, and everyone!
-
blogger at the moment since it plays well with do you have any suggestions?
-
Q4: What challenges might you face in creating an ongoing feedback loop? How can you overcome them?
-
A3 SS, PS, and Ts must see your openness to receiving and acting upon feedback.
-
i'd love to help in any way that i can!
-
interesting POV. I could see this taking students by surprise but then making them feel safe next time
-
-
I suggested to a P to have their child teach the concept to the parent, and parent listen and provide feedback. Ting=learning
-
sounds good. Offers a lot for time stamps & analytics. we're using Google+ w/some challenges
-
I agree with your responses to Q3!
-
A3: continuous process of learn, assess, reflection/feedback. In other words, foundation, retention, solidification.
-
-
Definitely blogging a great way to track progress, reflect.
-
-
A4 one challenge=the sheer time involved. Can be hard to keep up w/giving feedback to dozens of Ss on multiple fronts
-
A4: timeliness is my biggest struggle; I need to have Ss do more peer review. I know Ss learn by both sides of the process
-
Most important ingredient to successful flipped classroom is a strong, daily form. assessment system!
-
A4 being consistent w/ giving fdbk, helping Ss as needed, need a routine
-
A4: time is definitely the enemy of feedback, not just the time it takes BUT the speed at which it becomes too late
-
A4: On Edmodo or email, I can have miscommunication. That's when I reply with "see me before school or during class"
-
they need practice providing meaningful feedback with purpose to help. SM and digital citizenship are a necessity
-
Yes! Modeling this is so important! https://t.co/ZRDLsBPRL2
-
-
A3. Point out your own failures as a teacher and how you are learning from them.
-
definitely! how do you manage this?
-
Agreed, Edmodo is great for feedback, Ss can always refer back to it, track growth.
-
A4: Now that I use with Live Results, giving feedback is much easier and consistent.
-
. A4: I love having the students give each other feedback!
-
One challenge is being on the same page about progress with Ss! has a great idea for this! blogging!
-
A4: Ss (not) WANT(ing) for success. Ss not contributing to the feedback.
-
Q5 is coming up and will be the last Q!
-
so great to hear from you
-
A: Feedback comes from many places: immediately in Kahoot games, peer sharing, Google commenting from T.
-
A4: a feedback loop can be challenging with personalized learning (immediate, personal, relevant, meaningful)
-
-
Q5: How do you use evaluative feedback? Non-evaluative feedback? When? Why?
-
This happens naturally in my now. Love to stand back and listen!
-
gives us so many fast assmt & fdbk choices, too, my Ss enjoy Formative
-
A4. Feedback does not end when unit of study concludes and new "chapter" begins.
-
Can you explain what you mean by evaluative and non-evaluative feedback?
-
A4 definitely timing-always most effective when it occurs in the smallest window-more difficult as a coach than T in finding
-
Example: evaluative feedback attaches judgment "on correct path because..." vs non-evaluative "have you thought about this?"
-
A5: I don't grade any FA. Just provided feedback. Ss can always improve SA based on evaluative feedback.
