Here are the rules for tonight. Love it or hate it is the question, but no one word answers allowed.
If you love it, tell us why and if you hate it, tell us an alternative. #scitlap
Hello friends! I'm Lori from Atlanta. I'm going to pilates right after school and then will just be prepping a healthy dinner. Prob a glass of Valentine's wine too :) #SciTLAP
Hi guys! I am a preservice teacher at Grove City College. I am going for Biology and General Sciences Secondary Education! I hope it's okay if I am a part of your #scitlap twitterchat! Excited to learn from all of you! #pstpln
Hi, Christine Casali. I teach high school marine science and AP Environmental Science. Tomorrow my students are making marine Valentines. Other than that I’m praying the rest of my family doesn’t succumb to the stomach bug my little guy has tonight. #scitlap
Here are the rules for tonight. Love it or hate it is the question, but no one word answers allowed.

My name is Katie, and I teach science and math in Missouri to eighth graders. I am currently working on my masters degree in educational technology and I’m enrolled in Digital Communications with @ghartman. I’m excited for tonight’s chat! #scitlap#LULearns
Tomorrow, we are doing a STEM Challenge in class! We are building suspension bridges. The winner will advance to the district level competition. #scitlap
A1 Hahahaha Hate it. I love looking at curriculum and researching, but I think it’s crazy to plan weeks ahead perfect plans. To me it we have to flexible and meet the needs of our students based on feedback and observation daily. #scitlap
Love it when I can do it my way. Hate filling out lesson planning outlines or templates. But I happily populated my https://t.co/Ppmg8ohTrP plans through 3/1/19 yesterday. I love it even more when I’m planning something new. #scitlap
So true. But I like to have a road map. Kinda like a vacation. You know you have to hit certain locations but aren't afraid to visit other places too. #scitlap
A2) I love the social aspect of meetings. I hate when one person takes more than his/her fair share of talking time (if it's that type of meeting). I love an agenda that is shared in advance. #SciTLAP
A2 often hate meetings if I don’t feel that they’re worthwhile :/ every now and again, though, I really enjoy them when I get to collaborate with my math/science coworkers #scitlap#LULearns
A2 Dept mtgs are generally 30 minutes of complaining. Team meetings are useful/essential but not exciting. Faculty mts are... you know. I love my @NYSMTP PLN meetings. #scitlap
A2 Guess what, I sketchnote my meetings too. Otherwise, not so much. I always have a lot to say and most meetings are just information dumps, not conversations. So, nope...putting it in the hate pile. #SciTLAP
A2: I don’t hate all meetings. But if a simple email would suffice I dislike them. I love when we can sit and have authentic conversations with coworkers in other departments. #SciTLAP

A3) I'm not sure of how to word my answer. I Love NO? That doesn't sound right...I don't mind saying no. I certainly don't hate it. You figure it out...haha #SciTLAP
A4: love technology! I have my masters in Ed tech and just attended #metc19 the last two days. I have so many new ideas for embracing g suite and letting my Ss do more of the heavy lifting! #scitlap
A4 I looooove technology! We just went 1-to-1 this school year, and it has opened up so many awesome oppportunities. Virtual labs, simulations, webquests... always looking for new ways to incorporate tech in the classroom #scitlap#LULearns
A4: 😍💓 Love it! Can’t get enough tech and always happy to try something new. But not afraid to let kids use paper too 😉 My room is currently covered in paper clams and hand drawn climate change comics. #SciTLAP
A4 I think technology can be great if used in a positive way in the classroom! I'm in a Technologies of Instruction class and it's all about different tech to use in the classroom! My professor @SFecich has some great tips on this if you want to follow her! #scitlap
A4) LOVE technology. For engagement, for research, for creating. (Plus, wouldn't it be weird to say HATE...when we're in the middle of a twitter chat?) #SciTLAP
A4 Love technology. I've used it to streamline my grading, planning, and instruction. I'm good with it and tech generally likes me. Provides for so much in the classroom. #scitlap
I teach 5 classes, so 2 sections of CP1, 1 section of CP2, one section of honors marine. Then one section of APES. At least it’s mostly marine but it’s a lot of differentiation & they have different paces & depth. #SciTLAP
A5: love it!! Love it on a personal, professional, and on a learning level. I know my stuff is always there and I can access it anywhere and share it with anyone!!! #scitlap
A5 2 Years in, as a Google school, and I love it! I am amazed every day and can’t get enough. Thanks and shout out to @jmattmiller and @alicekeeler for being so Googley awesome! #SciTLAP
A5 Google is great! Love using team drives to share files with my team. Love using classroom to share assignments with my kids. Love Using drawings to make task cards! #scitlap#LULearns
A3: hate it. Don’t do it in any area of my life and it’s baaaaaaad... 😬 definitely something I say I’m going to get better at and never do!! #sychopanticyesman#scitlap
A1: Love it!!! As long as it’s not a scripted curr. I love seeing how one lesson builds into another. And love thinking about how much ss are going to love it!! Dry ice, tube Goldberg, Rice Krispies, etc. helps me get my creativity out so I don’t cause shenanigans. #scitlap
Having articulate people that disagree with me is a prime time to grow, hate when people say “just have to agree to disagree”. HUGE intellectual cop out. #scitlap
I do want people to voice opinions and take a stance. It's important in meetings that someone points out the elephant in the room or is the squeaky wheel. Someone needs to play devils advocate. #scitlap
A7 I love the concept, but I hate the follow through :/ so hard to manage students who are all at different parts of the lesson. Maybe if I try it out more often, I’ll learn to love it? #scitlap#LULearns
A7 Always seems like a great idea.....but.... #SciTLAP
There are always those that finish fast and those that haven’t written their name yet. It is a gap, I’ve yet to master.
Not sure it's a cop out so much as you know the result of the conversation. I will not convince a creationist to suddenly believe in evolution any more than they will convince me the earth is 20,000 yrs old. #scitlap
A6: Depends. People who put as much effort as I do? I’m sometimes ok. People who like to email me to disagree with how I do things when they don’t do anything?! yeah.. abhor. Where did they get a video of me after this happened this week?!?! #soresubjectthisweek#scitlap
A5: Love Google. I’m a Google Certified educator level 1. I have level 2 on my to do list. Google drive and Classroom make pushing digital content so much easier. #SciTLAP
Maybe, or maybe so. Is the object to convince or to educate? I often revisit what people tell me and change my position days, months, or years later. I can almost always point to when that discussion/thought process started. #SciTLAP
A2: depends on the company. Most of the sci sept? Love. The rest of the school? No. And nobody better be complaining about stupid things or personal sitususons. #scitlap
A8 love projects when they challenge my students and are relevant to the curriculum. One of my favorite things I’ve done as a teacher was a roller coaster project during our force & motion unit. Students who struggle on traditional assessments really excelled. #scitlap#LULearns
A8 I’m in the middle. The one that makes me crazy, is the video. Redo, redo, redo, redo....but they don’t get it done. Too obsessed with perfection. I have set time limits. #SciTLAP
A6: 🤔 I think initially my instinct is to hate it, but I learn a lot from those that disagree with me. Except climate change deniers. I just a agree to disagree and get away as soon possible. #SciTLAP
simple def: Google Docs with links in them. Example would be a doc with a link to a video or reading and the doc has the questions to go with it. #scitlap
A8 I love a good project. It always starts out great and Ss are working and excited. Then a day before its due you realize most are crap and the others won't even turn anything in. #scitlap
A8 love! While it takes a ton of facilitating on my end, I love the engagement my kids have with them. Today my partner teacher picked up a note girls were passing back and forth. They were writing about our project we started. LOL sort of made me happy #scitlap
A9: somewhere in the middle.... I think it’s necessary at times to help kids practice a concept, but I think it is often more worthwhile to get work done in class #scitlap
A8: I love projects. A well planned project seems much more valuable than any test in my book. Ss ask great questions and try new things. I learn more too from my Ss projects and processes to create them. #SciTLAP
Especially when they cite “research” from some junk think tank that doesn’t employ a single scientist. Since we all know that aliens are causing our climate change. #scitlap
I tried to follow everyone tonight! If I missed following you I am so sorry! This was a great first Twitter Chat to participate in! I learned so much from everyone! How often do #scitlap chats take place?
A9: HW as busy work I hate. If practice seems needed than yes. I like to use more in the flipped classroom model. Have Ss watch Videos then we have more time in class for creating things & addressing misconceptions. Only my AP class will have Feb break work. #scitlap
A9 hate. I want my lovies to enjoy their childhood. The only way I give homework is if I think it’s going to be worth our while. If it isn’t purposeful then it’s not needed. #scitlap
That kind of no I say all the time. I'm talking about when a few Ss come to me and are like "We have this competition/club we want to do and need an advisor." #scitlap
