Q1: What is the biggest strength that new teachers often bring to the table?

A1 The excitement, enthusiasm, & zeal that comes with new endeavors

A1:They are energetic and excited to teach,bring new/fresh ideas that rub off on returning teachers

There is an enthusiasm to the profession that is often untarnished at the start...we need to keep it burning and bright

Q2: Where do new teachers commonly struggle in the first few months?

A2: The intensity of the job, student teaching doesn't prepare them for all the extra things a T has to do

A2 Classroom management is huge

A2B: As we are 1:1 getting Ts used to new tech and SAMR model training to get away from substitution

Q3: Given the common areas for growth, how can we utilize their strengths to support growth in new teachers?

A3:That is why we need to observe these Ts and give them personalized training

Q4: What strategies/actions have you seen that create a culture of success for new teachers?

A4: We have a new teacher program where we connect them with veteran Ts, gives them someone to help them

A4: make required new T meetings hands on & productive.Don't just talk at them,give them time/support on tasks they need to do

A4 Strong mentorship; teachers opening their doors to senior teachers to give them feedback

A4: Critical we build authentic relationships and know strengths & weakness, in order to help grow them. https://t.co/EIlNzZgEk8

A4: regular mtngs between new Ts and admin. Help them feel like they have a direct line to those who can take immediate action

A4: help them practice the difficult tasks ex: role play hard parent phone calls, patent mtngs

Q5: If you were designing the "perfect" induction program, what would be your three non-negotiable focus areas?

A5: Reflection; Time Management; & Working with Parents

1. Building Relationships with Ss
2. Creating engaging/exciting lessons that relate to standards
3. Communication w/Ps

A5: personal needs, instructional needs, management needs.
