Welcome to #HackLearning chat. Today our authors will be sharing one tweet per minute for the next 30 minutes. Please feel free to comment and retweet as we celebrate our learning in 2017.
Good morning and Merry Christmas to all of my #HackLearning family! I hope you all are doing well.

My best tip to help anyone learn to #HackLearning is this: Find and nurture your tribe!
We are better together than we are apart. Build a powerful PLN on Twitter, FB, @Voxer, @flipgrid or any other channel and share ideas there regularly.
Push each other to greatness!
No, your adolescent is not actually insane… Talking to teens about their brain helps them feel more in control. Here are some thoughts to get started:

Let's remember the goal is not homework compliance - it's learning. Stop wasting energy developing strategies for HW completion and focus on learning in more meaningful ways. #HackLearning

'Twas morning before night before Christmas & all through the ward, no creatures were stirring -- except fingers on keyboards.
Hi, #hacklearning. I'm Brian. I teach middle-school students English in CO.
Learning isn’t about a project or assignment or grade; instead, learning is a social construct that can be uncomfortable but in the end affects permanent change in the learner! How can I leverage this understanding to impact my work? #HackLearning

The best classroom management strategy is a well-planned and engaging lesson. Make every second of your class count! Don't expect your Ss to bring their A game if you don't bring yours! #hacklearning#movieteacherhttps://t.co/q4IAEHHKvP
We're not following the typical Q&A format in today's #HackLearning. Instead, our authors have planned 30 tweets in 30 minutes to celebrate 2017. Comment and retweet your favorites.
Content curation hack: If you want to improve professionally, you must Locate, Aggregate, Share powerful content.

Yes! HW should also not be punitive. Punishing kids for not doing hw teaches them the wrong lessons. Remember they might not have understood it or had any help at home. #HackLearning

Hi #Hacklearning! Here's my tip from 2017! GRAB A TREND AT IT'S HEIGHT AND EXPLOIT IT! In may, I posted this about Fidget spinners https://t.co/9qjP8YYxjR & got 10,000 hits on my blog! That wouldn't happen today, the fad is over. #MakeItReal While Kids Care! Passion = Potential

Today's chat is a shower of tweets from our #HackLearning authors. Next week we will be back to the 3 questions in 30 minutes format with @MurphysMusings5 and @RossCoops31 moderating on PBL.

Ss often misbehave simply because they haven't had a chance to move enough. Intentionally plan times throughout class where they can get the wiggles out in a controlled manner (pair-share, four corners, walk-n-talks, etc). #hacklearninghttps://t.co/q4IAEHq9Eh
This goes along with making decisions that you would want educators to make for your own children. Our students should be treated as if they were our "heart and soul." #HackLearning
Possible corollary Q: Why give learners tools to solve problems without first making sure compelling problems have been ID'd? (1 way @ddmeyer frames this is, "If math's the aspirin, what's the headache?") #hacklearning
Culture is built in 30 second increments. Every time you connect with someone in your school and community you are building or killing culture. We choose how we want to be remembered. #HackLearning
That's awesome 😂😂😂 You're welcome to take me to work any day of the week. Here's a secret ... I'm designing a daily short form podcast soon ... 🤫 #HackLearning
In classrooms where literacy is personalized, students spend time reading and writing in class. They also have the opportunity to talk about their reading and writing with teachers, classmates, and a global audience.

Nice way to think about it. We have to get out of the habit of having students just “do” the problems. Math is an art that needs to be revamped and rethought. Let’s be more creative than just going through the motions. #hacklearning
My favorite #education quote from 2017:
"Hackers see problems through a different lens, because sometimes the best solution is so simple that it is overlooked."

We have warm gluhwein and fantastic Christmas Markts in Europe. I've gone to Antwerp, Belgium; Aachen, Germany; and Lille, France to enjoy these beautiful sites #HackLearning

Emphasize process rather than product...in PR communications, in expectations of staff and Ss. For there to be a community of practice, there needs to be a regard for a continuum of practice, IMO. @TonySinanis#HackLearning

When we share our learning stories, we make great contributions to our PLN. Here are a few learning stories about teachers who tell their learning stories....with tools. https://t.co/KhUpmyfXLM#HackLearning

Love this. Intentionality and focus are important - this does not mean student voice, agile instruction, and responding to the individual learning needs of the student are left behind. Its about student and teacher developing a relationship around learning. #hacklearning

How might we begin to use data in healthy ways, in order to support learners and learning well? Data-driven teachers are powerful teachers. Numbers-driven teachers may be missing important perspectives. An idea: https://t.co/oKGBXtN1I6#HackLearning
Truth is, math isn't the aspirin. It's the healthy lifestyle. Many fear the challenge it involves & the changes to routine &
habit. But it staves off the headache and the pains instead of treating them. Ss need to learn how to live a healthy Mathematical lifestyle! #hacklearning
