  • techyturner Sep 18 @ 10:07 PM EDT
A1: A global ready student is one who has, is, and will take the time to learn beyond the immediate situation, local culture, and national society. #MTedchat
  • cristama - Moderator Sep 18 @ 10:08 PM EDT
Hi all!! Crista Anderson, Dixon School Principal ;) At the gym... So may be slow #MTedchat

  • cristama - Moderator Sep 18 @ 10:10 PM EDT
A1: To me, a global ready student is flexible in their approach to a problem, prepared to seek information and understanding critically, and communicate confidently across digital platforms and in real life. Must look to understand various cultures and ideas. #mtedchat
  • BKd204Sci Sep 18 @ 10:10 PM EDT
Brian from IL jumping across time zones tonight A1 Global ready means being prepared to serve here, near, and far Having the foresight to do the most with your talents to serve a community #MTedchat
  • AmandaRapstad Sep 18 @ 10:11 PM EDT
A1 W/the technology we have now being global ready means students are able to reach out to others outside their immediate circle or school culture. They can learn about other places and cultures by talking to people in other places. Learning isn't just in the classroom #MTedchat
  • BKd204Sci Sep 18 @ 10:12 PM EDT
With technology making the world more accessible Ss need to see where their skills can fill a role, no matter where it is #MTedchat

A1: A student who has a strong desire to continuously learn, both in technical and academic terms, beyond their inner circle of experience #mtedchat
  • DanaeAquino Sep 18 @ 10:13 PM EDT
A1: A global student knows how to participate in a global community and can appreciate diversity and understand various global issues. Learning happens outside of our classrooms and local communities. #mtedchat

A2 Empathy is at the top of my list Without empathy we will fail to understand what other truly need from us Empathy allows us to understand as much as we can relate to & work together to solve issues #MTedchat
  • St006C Sep 18 @ 10:18 PM EDT
A2) Empathy and sincerity. Learning to accept differences is hard work but pays off in the long run. Kindness also goes along with this #MTedchat

A2: I think we need to cultivate kindness, acceptance, and tolerance to get people to see similarities rather than differences. We need to foster empathy - we are humans in the end and we all have hearts :) #MTedchat
  • TriSciCurious - Moderator Sep 18 @ 10:20 PM EDT
A2: Understanding multiple perspectives --- considering how your perspective is similar and different than another person's perspective #mtedchat
  • AmandaRapstad Sep 18 @ 10:20 PM EDT
A2 Problem solving, perseverance, empathy are at the top of my list #MTedchat

  • cristama - Moderator Sep 18 @ 10:21 PM EDT
A2: We definitely need to foster greater creativity, patience, empathy, independence, courage..Emerging technologies & greater attention to what are considered soft skills require transforming learning experiences. These dispositions can be coached and modeled. #mtedchat

  • TriSciCurious - Moderator Sep 18 @ 10:26 PM EDT
    Q3 is below 👇 #mtedchat
  • BKd204Sci Sep 18 @ 10:27 PM EDT
A3 My instruction being student focused has the philosophy that all Ss can...they just need experiences It does not matter who you are or what your walk you can do anything Need to be more intentional & purposeful with this #MTedchat
  • Shelley_Emslie Sep 18 @ 10:28 PM EDT
A3: I teach differently b/c I am a connected educator and work hard to make learning about our world relevant to my Ss. I have shifted from being the teacher in the front to the guide on the side who reaches out to those who know more! #MTedchat
  • BKd204Sci Sep 18 @ 10:29 PM EDT
When Ts facilitate vs. teach we reach more Ss because we can see more In some ways the less we actually teach, the more our students learn #MTedchat
    In reply to @Shelley_Emslie
  • techyturner Sep 18 @ 10:30 PM EDT
A3: I believe my current instruction includes these strategies. I do my best to push thinking, learning new skills, and reflection of the process. #MTedchat

  • AmandaRapstad Sep 18 @ 10:33 PM EDT
A3 I try to teach students how to problem solve and guide them in their own discovery rather than giving them all the answers. I have my students analyze where they are and reflect on their learning goals. #mtedchat
  • St006C Sep 18 @ 10:33 PM EDT
A3) In the past two years I have reflected on my White Privilege and how I can shift my thinking to be an ally for races and cultures who are systemically undervalued and targets of racism. #MTedchat

A3: My current practice as an instructional coach is to support teachers to be reflective in their practice. I model this in my own practice & encourage my Ts to model it for their Ss. If this becomes a value in the classroom, it's a skill Ss learn on a daily basis. #mtedchat
  • St006C Sep 18 @ 10:34 PM EDT

    Q4 is below👇🏻 #MTedchat
  • DanaeAquino Sep 18 @ 10:36 PM EDT
A3: I have made it a point to read literature to my students that showcases diverse cultures, how to stick up for others, and to value and talk about what makes us all unique. #mtedchat
  • BKd204Sci Sep 18 @ 10:37 PM EDT
A4 Communication: Life revolves around communication, something technology has in many ways devalued The more Ts work communication into our routine, the more prepared for the future our Ss will be #MTedchat
  • cristama - Moderator Sep 18 @ 10:37 PM EDT
A3a: If you know me, you are very aware that I’ll always fight for equity for all in edu. The disparity in access to quality instruction, resources, and community/family support for students based on race, socio economic, edu-labels and geo location is undeniably wrong. #mtedchat

A4: It's crazy - I know what my Ss need to be global ready today, but in all honesty, I do not know what they will need by the time they are "in the real world" as adults! I am 3D printing in class & 3 years ago, I would have NEVER thought that! #MTedchat
  • DanaeAquino Sep 18 @ 10:39 PM EDT
A4: Communication skills...awareness of cultural norms, patience, and understanding. #mtedchat
  • techyturner Sep 18 @ 10:41 PM EDT

A4) I think problem solving will always be considered a skill that Ss need in order to be global ready. This allows Ss to adapt to the fast paced changes in the world that exist. Tech stands out as an example of this. #MTedchat

A5 I can relate to a lot of this. There are certain situations where I feel very comfortable using my voice (Twitter), but others where I feel like I don't stand up for what I feel is right. #mtedchat
