My name is Paul and I'm from NJ. On the first day of 2019, I took care of myself and relaxed. I spent a great deal of time conducting a self-audit so that I could prepare myself for some great things that are coming up this month. #pln365
Lynette from NJ here and looking forward to this chat. I spent the first day cleaning and getting ready to go back to school to start a fresh new challenge. #pln365
My planner had me list 50 goals. Then choose the top 5. Then it said I must be willing to let the other 45 go to master the 5. I'm going after the 5. #pln365
A1: I'm going to stop chasing people who don't make time for me in return. I feel like I'm chasing people. I'm going to make more time for those who want to spend time with me. #PLN365

A2: The habit I am bringing into 2019 is focusing on valuing the strengths of those around me. Especially my students!
A2: So, from the gentle nudging of @jbretzmann and @kennybosch , I've started a #FiresideChat for teachers in our area to get together and talk all things education! Next meeting is tomorrow night! #PLN365

A2: New habit: Reminding kids everyday, every period how awesome they are and that they matter. This includes ALL email correspondence. Positivity rules. #pln365
A2: I’m always positive, but I want to bring that contagious positivity to more staff and students. Humor is a great way to accomplish this as well! #pln365
A2: I am trying to maintain a positive attitude throughout the year. I consciously try to smile and interact with all students who pass by my door and stick with motivating music to start a great day. #pln365
A2. I plan on being more reflective in general & of what I accomplish/don’t accomplish each day. I keep a small note pad in my pocket & basically write down what I achieved & good ideas from others. I read each days notes when I go home. #pln365
A2: One new habit for 2019 is related to my #oneword2019 - Courage. Being more fearless and assertive in my professional life and with professional decisions, as well as being willing to take more risks and try new things. #pln365
A2: I get out of bed earlier and try and do my pt before school. Lost a lot of progress since going back. Hoping to find a manageable rhythm soon. #pln365
A3: By thinking of new tasks as "instead of" as opposed to adding them to the pile "in addition to" I am always auditing my process to see if I can eliminate any unnecessary steps. #pln365
Q3: Often times we face IN with the new especially when it comes to tasks and initiatives. How do you balance the pressures of accomplishing new tasks while still meeting the expectations of completing the old ones?

A3 Try to eliminate the guilt. I might not be able to get everything done (I'm an Instruc Coach/Rdg Spec); but, I try to make time to meet with as many Ts as possible to support their work. If not, it might just be an email to let them know I'm here to help #pln365
A3: Take a deep breath and keep a focus on end goal. Then use new ways to get there. I was around long before computer use in classrooms but now through risk and challenge I use technology daily and loving it. #pln365
A3: I know we hear this a lot, but prioritizing is key. Perfect what we are already good at while doing our very best at the new. Asking for help can also be a game changer! #pln365

A4: There's a certain way that I like to drive to work. Call me a creature of habit. If I took a different way it would definitely save time. I know this yet it's like every morning I'm driving on autopilot. #pln365
Q4: Efficiency and time management is an area which many people look to improve upon. What is one routine you could take OUT of your schedule to save more time? #pln365
#pln365
A3 I make a "terrible list" of the things I really don't want to do and do one thing each Friday (that way if I do it before I am free!) ...like call AT&T or tell my boss I need off the Friday before Spring Break....
A3 With a smile, accepting that I will do what I can, prioritizing tasks, setting boundaries, avoiding the pit of negativity who only complain instead of doing... #pln365
A4 - Often times I think too much. This year and I trying to DO more and then refine later. One routine that I can take out to save more time is overthinking!

A4: I neurotically check social media....and also my bank accounts. I have read it's best to set times to do that in the day so you aren't "phone grabbing" and I am getting better!
A3. By realizing I can’t do everything alone & not be hesitant to ask for help if needed. Also planning, prioritizing, & goal setting with timelines/checkpoints. #pln365
I reflect and analyze what sacrifices will have to made and weigh them. A friend of mine td me that we can do many things well, but we can not do all of them well at the same time. #Pln365
Q3: Often times we face IN with the new especially when it comes to tasks and initiatives. How do you balance the pressures of accomplishing new tasks while still meeting the expectations of completing the old ones?
Absolutely! Oftentimes people forget I am there when I am trying to work in the office. I have started going to a different office at times because it is quiet and there are not pits in the way. #pln365
A4 My personal Facebook. I realized I was spending too much time on just surfing, for no obvious reason. I created a professional Facebook page and I am putting my energies toward that. Also, to make an effort not to spend time on things/people who are not helping me grow #PLN365
Very true!! Even if I can’t sleep and I’m soooo tempted to check it, I just stay in bed and rest! We’re talking School days of course....not weekend 🤣😂 #pln365
A3: Sometimes the new tasks and initiatives are welcome replacements for the old ones. When confronted with something new I'll explore it to see if it is something that I truly need & that will be more relevant and efficient than the old way. But, if not - don't need it. #pln365
Kris, I am an Instructional Coach/Reading Specialist. I hear you. While I'm not sure I can help, please keep me in mind if there is anything I can do. My website, https://t.co/jXs5t5YUJC, focuses on practical literacy resources and strategies. #pln365
A4: Trying to finish everything before I go home. Some things really can wait until tomorrow. Having time to step away and unwind makes the rest of the time more efficient. And, good scheduling helps, too! #pln365
Q3: Often times we face IN with the new especially when it comes to tasks and initiatives. How do you balance the pressures of accomplishing new tasks while still meeting the expectations of completing the old ones?
Thank you, Dr. Rosa. I saw how often my daughter, due to her disability, was often the victim of inequities-whether it was in school, in public, or by well-meaning family and friends. Thank you for letting me share my view #pln365
One habit that I’ve left behind is feeling guilty for not spending more time wit my older kids when they were young. I was single mom/working n in school full time but still felt guilty. #pln365
Looking back in hindsight can be difficult. We often do the best we can with what we have. I enjoyed talking about the lives of our respective children today. Sometimes, it’s just nice to know that in this life that “you’re not the only one.” #pln365
