Re: tidbit: Very interesting distinction. Some of us are introspective. Many of us are not.
-
Q1: What is something that happened in your class/school that you will remember for the rest of your life?
-
Many people have gone through traumatic experiences remarkably unchanged. Not all for the good.
-
For me reflection piece come in the way of chats & my blog. I encouraged reflection in my Ks as well https://t.co/ugVHR4ZBB7
-
A1 building 1-3rd & 4-6th student advisory this year-Ss motivated to make positive change in school https://t.co/NexOPYPbl7

-
Q1: What is something that happened in your class/school that you will remember for the rest of your life?
-
Yes, I find that chats and blogs are good outlets for reflection too.
-
Hello from LV,NV. Can't believe this school year is almost over! Wrapping up 15 yrs of teaching English!
-
Love hearing about advisories in elem. We so often only hear about them in high school.
-
Friend at work survived an aneurysm. Didn't change him a bit. I went through cancer. Still changing.
-
Isn't it crazy how fast time slips by?!?!
-
with able to build up cohort of & https://t.co/NexOPYPbl7

-
Q1: What is something that happened in your class/school that you will remember for the rest of your life?
-
A1: end of year senior projects are my favorite. I love seeing the Ss become the teachers.
-
I think that the best thing we can all do is to keep changing.
-
A1.Students. Every S that I've had has motivated, inspired, and challenged me 2 improve to better serve them, Ts, Ps & comm.
-
A1: When you receive a card from a child that expresses their personal growth.
-
It truly is a gift that they give themselves and give to us!
-
I agree. And I would have anyway, but cancer accelerated it. Catalyst.
-
-
Congrats on 15yrs...way to go.
-
Hope you are saving all of those!
-
we've had good success even though its a slow process-looking forward to building on momentum https://t.co/wnraQreLuT

-
Love hearing about advisories in elem. We so often only hear about them in high school.
-
A1 First time out of the classroom in 39 years. So I would say learning the ropes of subbing & my role in the classroom
-
-
A1 hi everyone, this year I switched schools & felt supported in my first authentic PBL, my teaching is never going back
-
LOVE IT!! (I am a B'dway fanatic!) What a rich experience for all!
-
-
helping students especially those with childhood trauma.
-
I'm really eager to hear more about this--the inception, the process and the growth.
-
A1: Continued confirmation of abandoning leveled std assessment is w/o a doubt right direction. https://t.co/P77ubL7U3W
-
-

-
A1 hi everyone, this year I switched schools & felt supported in my first authentic PBL, my teaching is never going back
-
Bravo, what a great experience!
-
Awesome...PBL enriches and enlightens our students in the learning process.
-
A1: When I was a principal and had over 500 people show up to our back to school night barbecue. https://t.co/3PgG7V2U6q
-
Hi Ana! How wonderful to feel so supported. Wish everyone had that experience!
-
my new normal, as they say.
-
love to take credit but built with my principal & been a work in progress-we know what to do better https://t.co/Vi53MD3BaO
-
-
I'm really eager to hear more about this--the inception, the process and the growth.
-
A1b. And to be fair Teachers as well. They're the heart of the school as well
-
A1 We lost a HS teachers to a drunk https://t.co/5kdROLnors Year's Eve. He was turning into his apt complex and hit head on
-
That is so impt. Caring relationships-the number one protective factor supporting resilience.
-
YES!!! Keep up the good fight! (Good to see you and the boys tonight!)
-
Where was my invitation??? ;)
-
-
-
A1 You bet that stayed with me. I have always hated being around drunks.
-
-
Oh my!! What a shock and such a tragedy. Talk about trauma...
-
Q2...Speaking of resilience...
-
Q2: What was the biggest obstacle that you overcame this year?
-
sorry to hear that. Tragedy is always hard, but often brings everyone together. Prayers sent.
-
A1 Navy firefighting training during basic training in ’77. Donning gear & entering a flaming space on purpose.
-
Yeah. Mr. Sampson taught Anthropology and History. Fairly young man.Going for his Master's.Great teacher.
-
Whoa! Makes me think about what is going on in Canada!
-
A2: Standing up for what I believe in and not being a carpet.
-
Oh gosh. I was only a kid then. I had just turned 17. Lotta years ago. Yeah, it did bring us together.
-
Interesting enough, time as we currently understand it is constant. Accounting 4 time misunderstood https://t.co/GyMnXUyOAX
-
-
Isn't it crazy how fast time slips by?!?!
-
I so agree on how important this is and is also impt. for students to see role models doing this.
-
A2: balance was off this year. Too many things, so little time. Better schedule next year so I'm looking forward to 16-17!
-
Brutal! prayers for your community.
-
A2 I’m still overcoming it. Switched from instructional design to broadcast/video project management for a client.
-
-
Time is quite an interesting concept and I have been having many conversations about it lately.
-
A2: Personally - I stepped outside my comfort zone and started to do some public speaking..obstacle that led to reward.
-
-
A2 not an obstaclebut learning job as Dean at 1 school-KEY=building relationships after that CAKE! https://t.co/l22VEsbpz8
-
A2 While I love my Ss, it's a totally different population. I kept asking myself if my impact is as powerful as it could be
-
A2 Subbing at 2very different schools. My old one and one I was interested in building a relationship with.
-
Horrible times in Fort Mac right now.
-
That must have been both difficult and yet rewarding at the same time!
-
A2 It’s an immersive thing designed to find pain-points/ghost-workarounds. Confirmation bias by client of no problems.
-
Hard to say in 140 characters, but that happened back in end of 1974. I was just turning 17.
-
-
A2 Still overcoming them.
-
I think as good, compassionate & conscientious teachers we always ask this question.
-
-
A2 biggest obstacle was aligning time management with patience. I came to terms with not being able to do it all.
-
I am feeling this as well and trying to reconcile that fact of not being able to do it all Very humbling!
-
-
I will look forward to reading this!
-
More reflecting as we move to Q3...
-
Thanks. I hope you like them both.
-
Or perhaps the "absence of time" would offer a more enlightening parallel dialogue? https://t.co/9qMepgANJg
-
-
Time is quite an interesting concept and I have been having many conversations about it lately.
-
Q3: If you could change one thing that happened this year, what would it be?
-
-
That is hard to do. I am a work in progress. https://t.co/C8cg6KfaB2
-
-
A2 biggest obstacle was aligning time management with patience. I came to terms with not being able to do it all.
-
-
-
A3 Kid Q's anxiety at the beginning of the school year. That was rough.
-
-
A3 Ha, I would have assigned a student job for an elapse video director, to catch our growth, did a little towards the end
-
Q3: If you could change one thing that happened this year, what would it be?
-
A3: good year, but going to make changes for next.
-
What changes are you thinking of?
-
A3: Allowing other people's actions to determine my path. . Be bold. Be brave. Be you. Always!
-
The corollary: the less time the less patience. Think we've all been there
-
-
A3 Not sure what triggered it, but she didn't sleep for days. She left the house middle of the night. Found 1/2 hr later
-
-
A3 know it sounds cliche but nothing-learned from each good and bad event-my focus is on now https://t.co/NR6St3lGYP
-
-
Q3: If you could change one thing that happened this year, what would it be?
-
Oh my goodness! You must have been worried sick!
-
-
I was. Good thing I'm a light sleeper. Woke husband up. Texted friend. Why found so soon.
-
Yes...the benefits of being a light sleeper--who knew?!?!?!
-
A3- as the creator for our independent study K-8 ELA I wish I could have incorporated more novels in all grades
-
-
Means I also hear Kid O when she needs to be readjusted in the middle of the night of if she has a seizure.
-
-
Q4: What was one of the most impt. things that you learned this year?
-
Husband and Kid Q can sleep through anything. Kid O and I are the light sleepers.
-
Sorry all, running late, was attending a Student Scholarship/Every Student Succeedin Event. Great student stories!
-
-
-
A4 remembering that its about relationships-with all stakeholders https://t.co/rpGoVMYUEC
-
-
Q4: What was one of the most impt. things that you learned this year?
-
What a great excuse!! I bet it was a great night!
-
A4: I really learned how to self advocate and it's lead to some great experiences and helped me connect w/great people.
-
A4 To appreciate good teachers even more than before. Kid Q's teacher has been great. I will miss her a lot.
-
A4) the importance of self-care!
-
A4: People are interesting. Truth is rare. Honesty is a treasure. Integrity is essential. (Ok this is more than this year)
-
Advocating for ourselves is so important and yet often a difficult thing to do--but we must!
-
YES! I can't express how impt. it is to "take care of the caretaker!"
-
-
I was wondering where you were. 😀
-
What a gift that teacher must be!
-
-
A4 Was worried about my "voice" now that I'm retired, but feel I still have so much to share & learn. It's all good.
-
Yes...Integrity is essential!
-
-
A4 Even though, I dedicate myself to my Ss, I'm a mom of a 3rd & 6th grader, I changed schools to be w/them, best decision
-
She's been an oasis for me.Felt similarly about one of Kid O's teachers, too She died of cancer years ago.
-
A4: Work to truly build communication, trust, relationships especially when the change that is needed is for students.
-
A4 without reflection we can not authentically transform into our better self as a teacher or human being
-
So good to see you, Ben! Catch you next time.
-
It is always great to know that there are many ways to "use our voice."
-
I always say, "Family first."
-
-
So sorry to hear that. It must have been a difficult time for everyone.
-
-
True. Chats, subbing, quasi mentoring and blogging. Just some
-
Q5 coming up around the bend...
-
A3: I learned from great & challenging experiences. I wouldn't change anything. Maybe get more sleep. Rest=better decisions
-
A4- I just qualified for my prelim admin credential and this year I have learned to Listen and be more mindful
-
Was a tough loss for Kid O.Took her to the wake. She didn't want to leave. Partly because she is so social.
-
-
Congratulations!! Yes, I think we can always grow in the listening and being mindful departments
-
Ms. AK's voice was still recorded on a switch they were trying to get her to use. She didn't want to use it.
-
Q5: In what areas do you feel you made your biggest improvements?
-
I had to explain to them that she didn't want to keep hearing her dead teacher's voice. Painful for her.
-
Wow. I can imagine it was difficult for her!
-
Yes, strive for an appropriate work-life balance! https://t.co/gw42SjjEzL
-
-
A3: I learned from great & challenging experiences. I wouldn't change anything. Maybe get more sleep. Rest=better decisions
-
-
A5 I am not as much of a reactionary hothead as I used to be.
-
-
A5: reflection on situations to determine best path. Time to think before acting makes a diff.
-
A5 with as my new favorite PLC I'm learning to balance teaching with my head and my heart
-
A5: I don't have all the answers & I'll make mistakes. I learned to be more compassionate, reflective & forgiving of myself
-
They were profoundly clueless about it. Was halfway through school year before I was able to intervene.
-
by your words and I love what you said about balancing thing w/head and heart.
-
A5 Parent involvement this year was stellar! I had parent volunteers, chaperones, speakers, & fundraising Ps- they rock it!
-
A5: I'd like to say that I've improved my listening skills, and really worked to ensure that I am receiving communications.
-
That's huge!! We are so tough on ourselves!!
-
Any tips to share on how you were able to get such high parent participation?
-
Another quick question about time...
-
A5 Not jumping to conclusions especially as a sub. I really need to know more about the kids before assuming anything
-
A5: biggest improvement? Guilt-free self care :)
-
Q6: If you had more time, what would you have liked to accomplish?
-
You are my hero and role model!!
-
This is something we all need to be mindful about. Thank you for reminding us all.
-
-
Kid O is now twenty years old and I still have to explain to people that she doesn't want to be stuck with Yes/No.
-
-
are you kidding? No way! 😉 thank you. You're fantastic!
-
A6 I wish I had more time and energy and money to advocate for Kid O the way she has needed.
-
classdojo, instant text messages, class pics, instead of letter homes. I could see which Ps saw the text,100%
-
A6: to complete the started project... I have a creation in the works, but alas, time....
-
A6 Felt like last IEP I was finally getting through. Maybe a little. I need more one on one time with staff.
-
I write and talk a lot about self-care and it is nice to see someone embracing that! YOU are the fantastic one!
-
A6 finding a way to make the & fade away & feel I give both 'jobs' my very best
-
A6: Give more trust, trust more people, truly accept the skills and help of others, realize that I don't need to do it all!
-
A6 More time being listened to and less time feeling a need to bang my head against the wall.
-
Yes, relationships, relationships, relationships--all take time.
