I am one of your moderators for this evening, and cofounder of #EduAR along with my edusistas @nortnik and @Lindsey_Bohler. We are excited about tonight's topic!
Hey, #eduar friends! I'm a literacy coach and international literacy consultant based in Tokyo! I'm happy that the winter break gives me time to be here and learn with all of you.

A1: I am finishing up Dare to Lead by @BreneBrown. It is so real and raw. I have learned a lot from it. It is must read, and has given my a balance of courage over fear. #EduAR
A1: This was about a box of recipes passed down from one generation to the next. I loved it so much I spent the summer copying family recipes to give to our two daughters and future daughter-in-law for Christmas! #EduAR

I'm currently reading Hello, Universe. It's a beautiful page-turner so far!
One of my all-time favorite classics is A Wrinkle in Time.
Some favorite professional books are In the Middle by @NancieAtwell and Disrupting Thinking by @KyleneBeers and @BobProbst.
#eduar
Lindsey, it talks about fear from the perspective of Peter when he walked on Water with Jesus. So many parallels to our lives in regard to fear. #EduAr
If you are just now joining us, here is our topic for tonight! The #EduAR feed will be a great resource for anyone looking for their next great book to read!
A1: The Present by Spencer Johnson is my favorite because of its powerful yet simplistic message. There is no better gift than the present. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s a life changer. #eduar
The main message for me is to #bemorehedgehog It describes in the book that a hedgehog is sigularly focused, where as a fox is trying to do too many things and fails to do anything well. I am a fox by nature! #eduAR
I have also recently read "The Hate You Give" and "Widows"... I have this thing about reading a book that is soon to be a movie; then I don't have time to go see the movie! LOL #eduAR
Haha! I hope we do! I was mostly in MS, although my first year in NISD was in elementary. You? I still have many friends and colleagues in NISD. And, Mary, I think one or two of my friends from NISD might be in Birdville now! Such a small world. #eduAR
A2: This book is so powerful because the coaching cycles are centered around student learning goals. The teacher and the coach learn in the process, and so do the kids. It is not threatening because everyone does a coaching cycle. We all get better when we all get better. #EduAR
A2: There’s so many lessons to learn..we are still learning in @jk_rowling HP universe but the tale being set in a school was something that resonates with me #EduAR
#EduAr#StoriesInEdu is one of my favorite books because it is the first book that I was allowed to share one of my stories in as a contributing author. My daughter’s keep it on their dresser 😁
A3: The book provided validation and inspiration to what I am trying to do for students working on Passion Projects. The authors also gave me ideas, examples, strategies, and resources that I am using. #EduAR
A3: It is challenging me to stay focused on what is important for my staff and not try to do everything. Allow time for them to process, practice, revise, reflect and do again until they feel confident in their practice. #eduAR
A3 Professionally, being able to strategize and support why we can’t just do what we’ve always done in reading to allow students to deeply read. #EduAR
A3: This book is encouraging me to seek ways to sharpen myself as a teacher. Not only do I have the chance to coach a teacher, but I get to be a teacher alongside her. Lead learners are teachers first. @SweeneyDiane#EduAR#SCcoaching

Hello, Universe is reminding me to always look for multiple perspectives.
A Wrinkle in time encouraged me from a young age to be an inquirer & take thoughtful risks.
In the Middle & Disrupting Thinking reaffirmed for me that advocating for student agency matters.
#eduar
A2) #EduAr here are two excerpts from #AsAManThinketh that we should embed within our kids and within ourselves. It is not about the right now. It is about who we are determined to become.
A4: It has a great book for our Admin team. The ?s at the end of each chapter have really forced us to reflect and it has made me pause and reflect on my practices and the direction I provide my teachers in regards to professional learning. It is truly refining my focus. #eduAR
A4: I recommend this book to any educator today because of the need to empower students! This book will inspire you to own their learning. Don’t we all want that? #EduAR
I completely agree! It also captures some of the most important points and lessons from his other books and demontrates how those stories relate to Leadership and how it applies in whatever role you play in your world. #EduAR
A4: Braving The Wilderness is REAL talk about boundaries and courage and being healthy, cutting through the everyday mess and truly getting to know yourself, accept yourself, love yourself, warts and all. It's about being vulnerable, my #oneword2018. #eduAR
Love that #oneword2018! I am contemplating mine right now, and on the struggle bus a little! I am praying for wisdom and vision for what my word will be. #EduAR

"Simplicity demands that leaders incessantly clarify and reinforce these (a tight near-exclusive focus on the lowet possible number of the most effective and manageable actions and expectations) priorities." (p.5) #eduAR
A5: "People are hard to hate close up. Move in." @BreneBrown "Go further. Don't be afraid Put it all out there. Don't leave anything on the floor."

Yes, Amazon just thought it was getting a break after the Christmas last minute shopping from me!! Also, for those of us that drive a ways, I highly recommend audiobooks. Read one, listen to one! #EduAR
