Hi Alana Stanton here from Ga. I teach tech special, 2nd grade writing, and Kinder enrichment Math/Read
Today a kinder child added up 10, 2, and 10 and explained it. That rocked... #MakeItReal

Hi I'm Selena Knight, Instructional Tech Facilitator in Mesquite, TX. I got to have fun building battle bots with Spheros to build problem solving skills with 3rd graders! I also got to see a student use her voice to participate in a campus tech meeting with staff. #MakeItReal
A1 Teaching memory strategies is really fun because Ss and I get to be creative and use humor. Check out these Memory Palace Lessons I developed https://t.co/aNQmcksCfd#MakeItReal
A1 I use songs with most skills, I also use hand motions. I have found this to be helpful in students remembering info and having fun at the same time #makeitreal
A1: Since I do not have a classroom yet and am learning best practices for my future classroom, I would love suggestions for this, especially with more difficult content areas! #MakeItReal
A1: Right now, I'm doing the Fast & the Curios #EduProtocols with my word root vocabulary. Ss can learn twice the words in half the time. I also teach them strategies like #sketchnotes so they can help themselves learn. #MakeItReal
#MakeItReal hi all Aprajita Ralli from India and I teach History to the secondary School children. My kids made posters to talk of factory Act ...that made it so real
That is a constant strategy of mine. We discussed that at #PLC training yesterday. When you #MakeItReal to Ss, the learning and retention skyrockets. As does engagement. So glad you wrote the book, Denis!
A1: Help students learn to create their own memory pegs and learn to self assess. Giving them strategies to monitor, track and reflect on their learning is huge! #MakeItReal

A2: I use Accountable Talk Posters and Starters in Math. Kids don't often know how to communicate well with each other, especially when they disagree. This really helps! #MakeItRealhttps://t.co/K0piDNXO80
I have a campus that uses Music Mondays in ELA for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. It is making a huge impact and the kids love it. Music is the embodiment of ELA :) #MakeItReal
A2 When trying to change, start small e.g. start by reading just one page of a book and build up over time, otherwise you'll likely revert to old habits #MakeItReal
A2: I teach HS, so giving them ways to be empowered and in control, such as tracking their own progress or how to manage to do lists (assignments and project deadlines) using tech, which is a skill even we adults need. #MakeItReal
A2 Talking about it & celebrating it every day. This takes effort, but is worth it.
I would recommend @Flocabulary as it has great songs for habits and the way we treat others #MakeItReal
Yes! You do need to look into it! The book is fab! Yes to #sketchnotes too! I created a hybrid graphic orgainizer #sketchnotes system ( #SketchNotesGO ) that helps my Ss who fear the blank paper and can't start. #MakeItReal
A2: Expectations play a huge part in the habits students build. If work or behavior isn't up to that expectation, give the student the (mandatory) "opportunity" to do it correctly. This promotes #growthmindset too. "This is a good start, remember....". #MakeItReal
A3 I cheated and prepared a list of resources to share with everyone ahead of time. It contains books, videos, podcasts, blogs etc. educators and other pros can use - https://t.co/6tCUiWIsJZ#MakeItReal
A3
Music, Movement, Bring Energy to your lessons and your students will follow.
Use the real thing or as close to it when teaching. And tell why they need this lesson in life, this makes it relevant. #MakeItReal

A3: I currently can't say enough positive things about @Seesaw especially for younger grades with iPads. It speeds up the process and has such an easy interface for them to apply, explain and demonstrate their learning. It has a nice bank of material as well. #MakeItReal
MaryRose this is vital! My one word is Present while last year was courage. Two different years yet I would not trade this one, Being present is a gift #MakeItReal
A1: Visuals help me get a better grasp on content, so I encourage my students to try it! When teaching vocabulary, we always find images to go with roots and words. I also create infographics for each standard we cover (kids try it too, sometimes!) #MakeItReal

They love writing on the tables, I only have one but today letting my kinders try the others, they were in love playing our odd and even game...especially Claire.
She said mommy we broke the rules today #MakeItReal
Thanks for joining #MakeItReal tonight! I put together a Google Doc with the most effective "Learning How to Learn" Resources for you. Check it out - https://t.co/6tCUiWIsJZ
A2: Encourage Ss to try different things until they find something that works; they see that it’s okay when something that works for another student doesn’t necessarily work for them. They take more ownership & are willing to stick to it when they know it works! #MakeItReal
Thanks Oskar @focus2achieve for teaching us so much about how students learn and thank you Dennis @MathDenisNJ for reminding us to keep it relevant. You guys rock! #MakeItReal
Right? She helped me develop a system of Monday: Brain dump of specific info from previous week (or at end of period from that day), Wednesday: Think Pair Share activity to compare Brain dump info, Friday: #Sketchnote the combined/revised information. Great stuff! #MakeItReal
