It’s time to roll with #Edpiper. Please join us for another great chat with some awesome educators. I’m @DrJohnsonEDU - Principal and co-mod. of #Edpiper
I left out my something good... I was able to do some self-reflecting today, which is always a great thing to do. I know it sounds simple, but it can make a huge impact on whatever it is we are mindful about. #Edpiper
A1: Our school has embraced technology so well. We keep adding more chromebooks in the classroom and using social media to enhance learning. Teachers are also getting new laptops. #edpiper
Rachel from Hewitt, TX..3rd grade teacher. First time giving this a go! Good thing that happened today... a student getting SO excited about their new reading level and moving up!#EDpiper
Taylor, kinder teacher from @CastlemanCreek A student who has struggled explaining his feelings told me when he was getting overwhelmed!! It was a very big moment for us! #Edpiper
Very fortunate to work at a 1-1 district. They are constantly encouraging, teaching, & promoting S and T friendly apps! Also makes apps a choice- something we practice with our S yet struggle w/ as T #Edpiper
A1: We have a ton of classrooms incorporating more blended learning using programs such as @IXLLearning, Google Classroom, @nearpod, and a variety of creation apps on their iPads #EDpiper
After being gone a month, the best thing today was seeing the big smiles of my students and the crazy love shared with me today! It was a good day. #edpiper
A1 tech is used by not only the Ts to present information and assign work but also by Ss to design solutions and models in classrooms. It is the S creation & engagement that makes the difference #EDpiper#STEAMpln

A1 @fasanitj has the best Tech PLCs to teach us about the latest and greatest apps/websites to use in our classroom! They have helped me out so much this year. #EDpiper
A1: We don’t just embrace it....We JUMP wildly in to engage, explore, create and grow on the daily. Technology is a part of instruction, learning and sharing! #edpiper
A:1 So many ways! We are so lucky to have a great instructional technologist jfasani that will help us anytime in the classroom try a new app or a new way to create on apps #edpiper
Technology is something that I’m still learning about myself and it’s funny when I have to ask a kindergartener how do something on the ipad😂😂. They learn so much and teach me. #EDpiper
Q1: Having an Intructional Technologist on campus has been a blessing with this being my first year in a 1:1 district! She’s an amazing resource and is constantly sharing new ways to enhance S learning through technology!!! #edpiper
A2: My students already use technology, so why not meet them where they are? Technology has engaged them in ways that never thought to be imagined. #edpiper
A2: For me, technology is quick access to target speech goals and monitor progress... and technology helps aid in carry-over to other settings #edpiper
Technology shouldn't be seen as an add-on. It must be part of the fabric of the classroom. Not all require #edtech but it's spectacular when content, pedagogy, and technology all come together! #EDpiper
It allows them to be more comfortable with their learning. They are comfortable with technology and know what to expect with it- unlike reading from a book- something we are still learning & struggle with daily. #Edpiper
Q2: I find that when we are in small groups the kids stay more engaged in their lessons especially when they use Lexia. It is really helping improve reading and compression #EDpiper
After being gone a month, the best thing today was seeing the big smiles of my students and the crazy love shared with me today! It was a good day. #edpiper
We have students in upper grades completing research and creating ways to show their learning. Many of our lower grades utilize Seesaw a lot for students to showcase their learning individually and by collaborating in small groups. #edpiper
A2: Technology has completely changed how Ss learn! They can find infinite information, create almost anything, and collaborate! They are so much more engaged and invested in their learning as well. #edpiper
A2: Students can learn anytime anywhere with technology. Learning isn’t constrained to a book anymore. With tech students can own their process of learning through guided exploration. #EDpiper

A2 Ss complete research using databases and teacher provided resources and then have choice on how to show their learning. Using tech to help Ss become advocates of their learning
#edpiper#STEAMpln
So true. So if the teachers and I were talking about that this afternoon, how everything is done on a device now and we really don’t see text books much any more in the classrooms #Edpiper
A3: It has allowed for more student self discovery and taking ownership of their learning. Students are able to investigate topics in real time. #edpiper
A3: Technology allows teachers to get assess immediately. This allows for re-teach on the spot instead of the following week after papers are graded. #edpiper
Tech has changed the way that I lead. It provides me with creative ways to share information and be transparent with my staff. Teachers receive immediate feedback as soon as I walk out of the classroom. #EDpiper
A2: I did some independent #research tonight and asked my 2nd grader what she liked most about #tech at school...her reponse...WORKING TOGETHER! #EDpiper#YES#YOUGETICECREAM
A2: Let’s be honest. S. LOVE anything digital. Tech pulls them in engaged and ready to learn. Our IPads give Ss. TONS of options. I’m amazed at what our littles do when we give them the tools! #edpiper
A3 Tech provides me with more opportunities to provide quick formative feedback on work using google classroom and products to collaborate w Ss. I also provide more opportunities to view and learn the material based on percep modes
#EDpiper#STEAMpln
A3: Technology has changed the way I am leading. As the campus leader, it is vital that I provide my teachers with the tools and resources they need for the students. It also means that I remain current in my own practices. #EDpiper
I love all the reflection on tech integration tonight. If you think about how far we've all come, it is amazing. Ss collaborating with one another from near and far. What a fantastic thing to witness as educators. #EDpiper
It has taken me out of my comfort zone in huge ways! I feel like I’ve been able to reach some students in something that is just second nature to them. They love seeing their teacher mess up with technology, too. 😂 #EDpiper
A3: I am able to allow much more choice. I get real time views of Ss work using Apple classroom. I can use Schoology that gives immediate feedback and it’s self grading! #edpiper
A3: I’m mostly teaching adults these days, but interactive collaboration (sharing, editing, real-time brainstorming) and learning with people across geographical areas has changed the way I teach dramatically. #EDpiper
A3: I love how technology can used as a great intro to a lesson, summary of a lesson... or the actual lesson itself. There are no limits to how to incorporate technology! #edpiper
A3: Having iPads in the classroom has helped me become more of a facilitator. Learning is a lot more student-centered because I’m able to guide my students and closely monitor their progress thanks to programs like @nearpod, @Schoology, and @AppleEDU!! #edpiper
A3: It puts more resources at our fingertips that allow for more engagement and variety. It adds another layer to my teaching that I wouldn't have without tech. #EDpiper
A2: Technology has completely changed how Ss learn! They can find infinite information, create almost anything, and collaborate! They are so much more engaged and invested in their learning as well. #edpiper
That's awesome. Sounds like a little #social#media#modeling going on. Not enough of that happening. Guide Ss in digital conversation, discussion, and feedback! #EDpiper

#edpiper#STEAMpln
A3: I love how learning can be personalized with so many resources for teachers and students. It is awesome for educators as well as students to be able to collaborate with others all over to extend our learning. #edpiper
A4: Virtual classroom platforms, such as Google Classroom and @Seesaw allow you to connect with students at any time, as well students connecting with each other. #EDpiper
A3: When planning, I am super intentional to think about all of the ways to keep students engaged, how they can share their learning, and how I can assess their learning. #EdPiper
A4: how to be careful on what we say and put online. Teaching kids in CASE class being Safe online and what to do in situations is important. I teach them this through digital citizenship in CASE #EDpiper
A4: Collaboration with people that are not in the same room and sometimes not even in the same country or city as you or your students. #STEAMpln#EDpiper
A4: Technology allows for such a global reach...our kinders explored a museum today that is in a different city before they actually go visit it...how powerful will it be when they walk through the real doors! #EDpiper
Yes they do, so very much. And I love it too because it 1. Closes that gap of educator and student and builds that relationship and makes it even stronger. #Edpiper
A4: I love being able to share what we are doing in class instantly, so parents can facilitate conversations at home about what Ss are learning in school. Parents are key, and technology has made it SO much easier to collaborate with them! #EDpiper
A4: I love being able to share what we are doing in class instantly, so parents can facilitate conversations at home about what Ss are learning in school. Parents are key, and technology has made it SO much easier to collaborate with them! #EDpiper
A4: One of the things my kids LOVE is @quizlet live where they collaborate with unheard of engagement! I think the immediate feedback on everyone’s work in real time is priceless #edpiper
It has taken me out of my comfort zone in huge ways! I feel like I’ve been able to reach some students in something that is just second nature to them. They love seeing their teacher mess up with technology, too. 😂 #EDpiper
A4: I’m all about collaboration! During our library time today we recorded a flipgrid that students from another school will be able to watch, reply, and also make a recording. Thanks to @LibraryCCE!! #EDpiper
A4: Augmented Reality is something that has room for growth in #edtech, but would not be possible without tech. Check out something like GeoGebraAR https://t.co/xA1xwyjnGN#EDpiper
I love seesaw. As a parent I love getting those notifications during the day about something my kids did or worked on. I get to see their minds growing almost in real time. #Edpiper
A3: I am able to allow much more choice. I get real time views of Ss work using Apple classroom. I can use Schoology that gives immediate feedback and it’s self grading! #edpiper
A4: Teachers always help mold Ss into great citizens, now we are able to guide students to become good digital citizens by modeling and practice! #edpiper
A3: I love the immediate data I get from tech. I can easily change instruction to fit the needs of my kids. This is HUGE! Time is on our side. Yes, it is. #EDpiper
A4: I love being able to share what we are doing in class instantly, so parents can facilitate conversations at home about what Ss are learning in school. Parents are key, and technology has made it SO much easier to collaborate with them! #EDpiper
A5: Ss creating and collaborating using technology every day in the classroom! Most of the future careers that my Ss dream of having require them to have both these skills.
#EDpiper#STEAMpln
A5: Since students can learn any fact they want to online, now more than ever, we need to teach them how to think creatively and critically to compete in the future work force. #edpiper
Q5: The future of #edtech will allow teachers and students that ability interact as partners in education more effectively. Students will track and process large amounts of data concerning their own progress toward mastery. #EDpiper
A4: Teachers can provide feedback to students much faster on digital products and share online resources immediately. Easy access to those materials, however, require more challenging questions #EDpiper
A5: The practice of connecting curriculum to real-world scenarios. Career and Technical learning has had a revival of sorts in the past few years and it makes sense! #EDpiper
A5: A big “ah-ha” moment we’ve had is during writing time. “Well Siri can tell me how to spell that.” So teaching them the use of a dictionary and how to become an editor of their own work...even if Siri can help. #EDpiper
Q5. Now days teachers are more in tune with the different ways that students learn that in 5 years that will continue to improve. There are so many different ways students learn that technology is a great tool for teachers to help aid in their teaching of students #EDpiper
That's awesome. Sounds like a little #social#media#modeling going on. Not enough of that happening. Guide Ss in digital conversation, discussion, and feedback! #EDpiper
A5: Great article that focuses on the true skills #SEL that students need to be successful...how are we incorporating tech w/these skills? #EDpiperhttps://t.co/DeEcWuWxGu
A5: Allowing kids to explore and not just use tech you tell them to. We are creating visuals for presentations this week. I gave them options but told them I was opened to others. I am so excited to learn from THEM! Not just about their authors, but the tech they chose! #edpiper
A5: Working together on projects.. I had students do a project on what makes @CastlemanCreek special to them. They worked on the project together #EDpiper
A5: Not every new & improved thing is going to change the tech world, but it will definitely be a stepping stone. T have to give S the chance to see the foundations first so they are prepared when the next “thing” comes along #EdPiper
A5: encouraging collaboration among peers to solve real-world problems. We live in a problem-based world so why not structure their education around that inquiry? #EDpiper
A4: I love being able to share what we are doing in class instantly, so parents can facilitate conversations at home about what Ss are learning in school. Parents are key, and technology has made it SO much easier to collaborate with them! #EDpiper
R2: in some ways, it has been a detriment to learning. They have all the tools to find answers, but also have multiple ways to get distracted on the plethora of websites. They do have many ways to create and explain course content. #EDpiper
Q5: digital citizenship, research, collaboration, sharing, accepting feedback from peers. Ss. build their skills each year and they will be prepared 5 years, 10 years, etc. #EDpiper
YES!! I say this all the time! School is no longer about memorization. It is about being able to THINK, ask questions, and use those facts we look up for something bigger! #EDpiper
A5: I think learning will continue to become more personalized so Ts will need to be more adept at designing lessons that allow for different pathways of learning. As educators in inner cities, we will continue to figure out how to level the playing field for our Ss #EDpiper
A6: Technology should not just be a "fill-in"... it needs to be purposeful and Ss need to be taught how to use is proactively and effectively. #edpiper
A6: If tech is only used to connect Ss to content, and Ss never connect to each other (with or without tech) then tech is not being used appropriately, IMO. #edpiper We must facilitate face-to-face, heart-to-heart learning. Always.
A6: T don’t explain the learning goal or objective of the tech & students just “play.” While it is fun, they need to be reminded of why this is here to help them and make connections for future assignments #EDpiper
A6: I still feel there is value in human interaction as part of learning how to navigate this world and if we only use tech we miss out on a huge resource! #edpiper
So much research supports learning gains at higher levels with immediate feedback. Tech has made the timeliness of feedback easier and better than ever. #EDpiper
A4: One of the things my kids LOVE is @quizlet live where they collaborate with unheard of engagement! I think the immediate feedback on everyone’s work in real time is priceless #edpiper
A4: I’m all about collaboration! During our library time today we recorded a flipgrid that students from another school will be able to watch, reply, and also make a recording. Thanks to @LibraryCCE!! #EDpiper
A6: Tech cannot be the only way to learn. Just like we have to provide differentiation in math and reading, we have to do the same with technology. #EDpiper
A6: While I think technology is great and super important in our society today, I still think there needs to be a good balance in the classroom. Nothing like holding a good book, journaling in an actual notebook, or drawing an amazing diagram! #edpiper
R6: some Ts think that Ss being able to find answers is a bad thing. I agree we don’t need a surgeon looking online for how to do surgery; however, we might as well teach researching skills to help Ss find correct info, process multiple sites of info, & form opinions #EDpiper
A6: In Kinder, they need hands on activities, practice with writing utensils and paper, and social skills with their peers. Tech needs to be balanced with these other necessary skills! #EDpiper
A6: As with all things, balance is key. Collaborating with use of technology should not replace face to face talking/contact. Just go to any restaurant and see this is a concern. #edpiper
A6: If tech is only used to connect Ss to content, and Ss never connect to each other (with or without tech) then tech is not being used appropriately, IMO. #edpiper We must facilitate face-to-face, heart-to-heart learning. Always.
A6: Students still need face to face interaction and conversation. They need to develop those social, communication, and problem solving skills. #EDpiper
A6: studies have shown note-taking by hand helps students memorize and process information better. Online note-taking may not be as helpful in processing new material. #EDpiper
R6: some Ts think that Ss being able to find answers is a bad thing. I agree we don’t need a surgeon looking online for how to do surgery; however, we might as well teach researching skills to help Ss find correct info, process multiple sites of info, & form opinions #EDpiper
R6: we need to be looking at redefinition of activities we do in class. As was stated earlier, tech shouldn’t replace pedagogy in importance. We are teaching, we don’t teach with tech. Good teaching and good activities should happen in our class, not because of tech #EDpiper
If we treat technology as a privilege or use it in ways that have removal consequences attached, then that can be harmful. If we are really integrating tech into learning, then we can't remove it bc we're frustrated. We have to teach how to use it safely & efficiently. #EDpiper
A6: Technology should not just be a "fill-in"... it needs to be purposeful and Ss need to be taught how to use is proactively and effectively. #edpiper
A6: I still feel there is value in human interaction as part of learning how to navigate this world and if we only use tech we miss out on a huge resource! #edpiper
I find that the best use of tech is that unexpected moment where “oh, that would be a good moment to use...” or a moment where a S says “hey, can I do this on my Chromebook?” Um, yeah. Share, collaborate, create, b critical, and communicate. #EDpiper
Good night, all. Now, go to bed and turn off all your tech....well, except Alexa. She needs to be alert to wake me up in the morning. LOL. #EDpiper Thanks to all my @CastlemanCreek PLN who showed up tonight. You are better than cupcakes at 3:30.
My biggest shout-out tonight goes to @CeeNote80 We love you, Mr. Carl. You make things happen at CCE. We learn so much from you, especially how to make days happier and full of joy. #EDpiper@CastlemanCreek
A2: Learning has changed w/ tech because now there are NO LIMITS to the content, to knowledge gained, or questions remaining. With a device & WiFi learners of any age can go as deep as they want, or seek any answers to looming questions! #excitingbutscary#needDigCit#EdPiper
We are losing the aspect of relationships due to tech and the polarization of our society. We have to communicate F2F in a respectful way. Yes, this is #Citizenship and #DigCit can help with this. #EDpiper
