A1. I provide many platforms like Parent Camps, Parent Book Study groups, Coffee with Principal - but most important is just having 1:1 conversations about how we care about their child. #EduAR
A1: I love to interact with families on social media, using Facebook page, Facebook Live, Instagram and Instagram Story, and of course...Twitter. #EduAR
A1 I have found that the best way is to showcase students and their work through tech. I might snap a pic and text it or email to a parent or request a brag be posted on the school Facebook page. Parents love that! We ALL want to hear and see good things about our kids. #EduAR
A1) I'm excited to get lots of ideas on this one! Mostly reach out to parents via email with "learning tips" or other targeted tidbits for helping their children navigate HS and #math#eduar
Love these ideas! I like how face to face your ideas are as well. We love to use social media to "share" the great things going on in our schools, but face to face time is just as important #EduAR

A1: In my experience, the best way to connect with parents and generate their support is to treat their children with dignity and nurture their growth. I’m a parent. If I know you’re loving my kid while I’m not there - you’ve got a fan. #EduAR

A1: Face-to-face at drop-off and pick-up, by phone, by text, be a "secret" Facebook page, weekly newsletters. #EduAR . If one of them says they didn't know, there's not really an excuse!
A1 My students keep a home/school journal for reflecting at the end of the day. They write on the left side, and the parents respond on the right side! Love seeing them grab their journals out of their backpacks each morning to read their special messages! #eduar
Love seeing this week in and week out. Click the pic below, that’s what #MEMSPAchat is all about! Collaborating so much, WE TREND!
Join us Thursday’s at 8pm EST #INechat#eduar#waledchat#Masterychat
The car line is a great place to connect with parents! I always liked talking with parents of students younger than I taught. Built that rapport early for when they got to me! #EduAR
A1 I have used @edmodo for many year in my classes and it has been great for communicating, and also @RemindHQ and @BloomzApp for #edtech , of course in face at school events #eduAR
In reply to
@cwilcoxKSU, @edmodo, @RemindHQ, @BloomzApp
A2 Have lots of positive conversations first! Build the relationship over time and trust comes with it. Then, when the difficult conversations have to happen, parents are more open to what you have to say and trust your perspective! #eduar

A2: I feel that it's important to engage Ps early and positively. I call mine as soon as I get my class list, introduce myself, invite them to Back to School Night, ask them if they have any questions, and ask them to tell me one thing they love about their child! #EduAR
A2) Always come from "we are on the same side." Listen, listen, listen, and hear the love for their child in what parents say. Come from a place for what is best for the student. #eduar
I always liked the idea of calling parents or mailing the students a welcome card. Personalizing that first interaction can aid you in tougher situations down the road #eduAR

A2 Work on building relationships, time to listen and show investment in their child, make sure to connect at the beginning of the year, be available at open house, welcome them in #eduAR
A2 Leading with positives is important. A colleague and I called every 6th grade parent and personally invited them to Open House this year. I think that helped get the year started well. I show care/concern, but I try to have evidence to support the hard talks. #EduAR
A2 I’ve asked parents to write a letter at the beginning of the school year to me telling me about their child ... A Million Words or Less .. tell me about your child .. This connects us early and helps me learn so much. #eduAR

A2: I try to always remember that parents are advocates for their children. Some know how to advocate better than others, but they all want what is best for their child. Keeping that perspective helps me remain calm and focused on what is best for the kiddo.#eduar
A3. We are beginning to use Edulastic. Can't wait to see it will be like. Students can take short assessments on their own through Google Classroom. #EduAR
A2b: We should enter every parent conversation fully intent upon working together for a solution. However, some people are malcontents - you cannot please them, and there is no use developing an ulcer feeling bad about it. #EduAR#cuckooforcocoapuffs

A2: Acknowledge emotional energy -- yours & theirʻs. If you have time, practice the conversation so that it is smoother. Have a plan of action prepared. Have info, evidence, et al ready. Cultivate a relationship of "discovering/ solving" together #EduAR

A3. Love to use Flipgrid or video for students to demonstrate learning. “We are not focused on what they can tell us but rather what they can show us.” #EduAR
A3: @GetKahoot is fun for kids! Google Classroom is a great tool for dropping formative assessments in, and you can use Google quizzes to create assessments for quick response and feedback. #EduAR
A3: I use LOTS of post-it notes. I also let them “Show Me” on the app while I monitor with Apple Classroom. (And sorry about Q1/Q2...I’m out of practice on Twitter chatting😀) #eduAR

As Supt, after being a respectful listener of a challenging parent, I would always ask a question,"If you were in my position, what would you do to resolve the issue" Found that most time it led to finding a reasonable solution #eduAR
A3: @Buncee is a great tool for kids to show what they know and also have an outlet for creativity. You can import pictures, voice, video to add to text and stickers. #EduAR
A2: We need to use our experiences to leverage deep connections with hurting parents . I don’t know how many times I’ve said to a hurting parent , “ look girl my son is dyslexic, dysgraphic and has school based anxiety. I had to drag him to school all of 3rd grade” . #EduAR
Just had a webinar w/ @gimkit other night, great story, and my students have loved playing for the past year, every day they ask, love the repetition they get to help them learn #eduAR

A4: I think anytime a student talks through their thinking aloud it forces them to self evaluate. Does that sound right? Is that really what I believe? Are there other conclusions? How do I really know? Those meandering thoughts are great mental calisthenics. #EduAR
A4: Explicit SEL lessons during morning meetings! Our teachers are rocking them ! Yesterday I heard lessons on “Thinking Win/Win” Building Self -Control and The 4 part Apology. #EduAR
A4 With math, I try to lead with real world context problems of high interest then pull the concepts from that. I encourage mistakes as a way to grow/learn. I push productive struggle because that makes the lightbulb moment even brighter. #EduAR
A4: Interactive lesson in SEL, Academic & Character domains with visual, maxim & higher level questions. Here is a sample that you can download of Way To Go lessons for Grades 3-12. https://t.co/W6Wx25gIbq#eduAR
Jumping in late tonight friends!
A4: I’m a huge fan of having students record their problem solving process or thinking with a tool like Screencastify and then go back and review and evaluate that recording. Build metacognition! #eduar
A4: This is a coaching cycle in action where the teacher and coach are teaching in tandem, helping each other learn while focusing on depth of instruction in mathematics. @jrh4learning@PigmanHannah@CentralCabotpK4#EduAR

A4: Cr8 lrng activities that r complex-theyʻre challenging, engaging, stimulating, & multilayered- require positive, active participation/ interaction. Require ss to not only hear or see, but also mentally manipulate the info. Ss use/choose multiple modalities. Say-See-Do #EduAR
A5 When I have an idea to help Ss or Ts, I share it, even if I am met with No after No after No or negative Nancy. I keep pushing for what is best for kids. I DO get frustrated when I pass the ball and others just drop it, though. Any advice for that? #EduAR
We did little sodas and popcorn while having round table talks on family support for their child, information about our school, and time for families to network. We have a military community and many move here and need ways to build relationships with other families. #EduAR
Q5: I try to establish a culture for learning at the beginning of the school year. We talk about the value that mistakes add 2 learning, the power of “yet”...lots of growth mindset discussions. Doing this hopefully makes Ss comfortable letting those creative juices flow! #EduAR
A5: Provide “what if…” scenarios for creative writing or discussion; Demonstrate curiosity and an eagerness to learn new things. Engage Ss to seek answers by asking questions, reading, researching, exploring, experiencing & experimenting #eduAR
A5: giving students voice and choice on how they present the information they learned. Not every student wants to use a google slide every time they present info. #eduAR
Invite people to collaborate with you ... design learning opportunities that you and partners collaborate on to share with students... ❤️ don’t go it alone ... #eduAR

A5b I model curiosity and creativity as well with think alouds, etc. I also do NOT pretend to have all the answers, which helps students feel more comfortable sharing something I may not know. When that happens, I usually question them for more info. as encouragement. #EduAR
A5: A culture of cr8tvty & curiosity is https://t.co/2fVUCYePvQ risk - Get better as a leader to support, encourage, responding to “what if?” with “let’s find out” rather than “let’s wait till someone else tries it.” Dare to be courageous. #EduAR
A5: my Ss and I meet weekly to plan units/lessons together. I let them know what concepts are coming and then we brainstorm ideas on what ways would work best for them to learn them. Their creative ideas and questions through the process is amazing to see. #eduAR
