off to a great start this week and you?
Good Tuesday morning! Looks like the second rainy (indoor recess) day in a row! Always more challenging! 😊
Good morning! I'm not late today. And I'm coffeeing!
I just want to know that they learned to think critically about their surroundings.
Good morning!!! Happy Tuesday to all!
I would hope that I made them all feel special. That we worked hard and accomplished what they didn't think they could
Good morning !
Brian, HS principal from Mass.
I cant help but wonder, what fellow teachers will say at the dinner.
Good morning . Stacey from NJ. Excited for day 1 with our trainer. Another glimpse at MS teaching. cc
Good morning, all! Anyone else in red ribbon week? I'm running out of red! Lol *attacks closet*
Wow. These questions. Pretty sure I used the wrong study guide to prepare for the chat.
Good morning friends! We survived Monday! Hope all is well with all of you. David MS Principal for VA!
Good morning from Maine! Grabbing a hot cup of coffee to enjoy with y'all this morning
I dont remember the material you taught but remember that you knew I could learn it so i did.
Michelle from Ontario grade 1-2 checking in. Excited to be doing a whole day of outdoor ed today.… https://t.co/BRk1NoiMoI
I hope they will say that I made a positive impact on them, that the school is a better lace because I was there
Since I'm in the background now with tech and not in the classroom, I'm curious what my colleagues might have to say?!?
We always thought she was crazy, but she cares about all of us more than she cares about her "content" https://t.co/kZmPFyPAJk
I love this! spot on! https://t.co/I0tKLOkVVq
I dont remember the material you taught but remember that you knew I could learn it so i did.
Get the Gucci bag youve been working in the lesson for 20 years. Ms. Hicks and your sneaker game is fire .
One day when I retire I want my kids to say 3 things- he helped open our world to what's possible, he believed in us, we were loved
I want them to say I've inspired them to follow their dreams and enjoy the journey. Oh, and I was kind to them. And always truthful.
Or that something in one of the books we read helped them out later in life.
Hopefully the same things they say to me each day...that I truly care about their input, opinions, & choices.
If I am honest, it would entirely depend on when they were my student, which grade I taught, under whose admin I worked, etc.
I hope my students will say she was always there when I needed her and I felt I was heard when I spoke.
I hope they are similar to the ones I would have shared with my 3rd grade T at her retirement party. https://t.co/aaeGu0hoXb
Good morning ! Busy week, lots of great things I'm working on.
that's tough, board games, cards, blocks, that's what I used when I taught 2nd grade, had to keep them entertained
hope coffee is one of them ! https://t.co/bylfAPxBLi
Good morning ! Busy week, lots of great things I'm working on.
But I am so fortunate, I don't have to retire for another decade, so I get to keep doing this! https://t.co/nxGWZFEGYc
Whew! Glad that's not the question! Lol https://t.co/G58WP8OG1A
I cant help but wonder, what fellow teachers will say at the dinner.
These are so good. I am <3 each of them!
And maybe that they became teachers.
Whew, too real to consider: retirement. Words of reflection (we hope)? He cared. He listened. He was about learning.
Hope to hear this from my former Ss in three years...keep on learning in your retirement...you inspired that in us!
I kind of think ti should be. It speaks to what we are doing here.
thinking they'll see me as one always doing the tango on the line between insanity and genius
I hope they will say, "she loved each and every one of us and gave up on no one!"
Um, I am never retiring LOL.
he's a great guy and made us laugh he made school fun and taught us to live our dreams every day
I hope they would recommend books for me to read and buy me a wheelchair. lol
today is neon day. Yesterday PJs. 4th PJ day for my older son. My school isn't doing it.
Good Morning - I'm awake and I remembered! We're off to a good start here in CT!! PS - I'm Melissa, 3rd grade T
8th graders that I taught in 2nd told me they still remember a book we read and how it helped them, very powerful moment
we are & each way is themed. Had a P tell me our theme promoted stereotypes. Messy hair/clothes day = messy druggie
Can't really ask for more than that, can we? https://t.co/y1x2TscfGY
I hope they will say, "she loved each and every one of us and gave up on no one!"
If they had a general sense that it was a good year together, they were heard, and we enjoyed learning, I would be happy.
Same here. Where do you teach? https://t.co/jUV7az5HEf
Since I'm in the background now with tech and not in the classroom, I'm curious what my colleagues might have to say?!?
This is a great example of Habit 2: "Begin with the end in mind." I imagine what Ss would say if I ran into them at a grocery store
isn't it going to be cold?!?!?!?
I want them to say they felt safe, were inspired, learned to love reading, had fun, & I would love to hear one story....
Good morning! Better late than never I guess.
Oh, and if they remember the stories we shared...I think that would be the most likely, wonderful feedback. The books. The writing.
I needed to hear these today, so thank you!
thanks for the feel good question today!
I wish there was a way to hear these things BEFORE the retirement dinner...it's going to be a while still before it happens!
Bringing it back to why we do this, right?!
I am having a second former grade two student as a student teacher this year! It is great to see! https://t.co/NqowqeNp7v
And maybe that they became teachers.
"He realized we were kids yet treated us w/respect & fed our curiosity" If my Ss say that at my retirement, I did my job
That is the ultimate goal!
I'd like them to say I never settled for the same old, I always gave them choices & I challenged them. That's life, not school
Already hear from some former students who remind me that I inspired them to become Ts. What an honour!
susankotch today is neon day. Yesterday PJs. 4th PJ day for my older son. My school isn't doing it.
Why wait for retirement ... a former student wrote this a couple weeks ago ... I taught her 11 yrs ago https://t.co/t4748Wu8dh
That is beautiful! I have two "grand students" this year. Just love it!
Ouch. https://t.co/fakioKMjdt
we are & each way is themed. Had a P tell me our theme promoted stereotypes. Messy hair/clothes day = messy druggie
That's the BEST!! Keeps you going until your retirement dinner!
Yes! https://t.co/UoM1Da3qtC
I'd like them to say I never settled for the same old, I always gave them choices & I challenged them. That's life, not school
is there ever a non-busy week?
Love reading these! I hope it is "She loved us too much to allow us to settle for less than our best."
Beautiful! https://t.co/fjWjHwGWSd
"He realized we were kids yet treated us w/respect & fed our curiosity" If my Ss say that at my retirement, I did my job
In terms of an activity, I hope many of my former students would join me in a last giant game of review wiffleball on my retirement
I am fortunate enough to teach in a small town. I get to see my Ss all grown up, and teach their kids, nieces, cousins etc
and we are sure you do !!
my proudest moment was when I was able to be on the hiring committee for a former S & she nailed it.
Not just any wheelchair, like the Cadillac of wheelchairs LOL
Kids will remember how they felt in your class more than they will remember what they learned.
I really want to hear students remind me that life is all about building caring relationships!
What did you start teaching at 12?
Thank You Eric. Im sure you do too.
Reading great things, but having difficulty with an original response. MY words feel cliche.
I hope the word LOVE is used somehow.
Made me feel a little old but happy to have a connection already. The first one Was awesome.
yup as long as they have me i'm in
Indeed! Anyone else have a bulging file of the notes, etc. from former Ss? Nice to open it & reflect from time to time.
well thank you for helping our professions.
Realizing I need to explicitly model what I want to see reflected back. Same realization as yesterday, but w/ a different angle.
West Windsor - Plainsboro. Are you going to in November?
At my retirement, they will say what they share when I see them years later in town: we'll never forget watching
. I've had Ss come back or call just to say how some particular thing stuck with them, makes the work worth it
Go to church in NJ w/a woman in her 30's I taught in my 20's in CT. Great to see her transformation from kid to mom
One of my former students is studying to be an english teacher. She just got accepted to study abroad.
I want Ss to remember my passion. To remember that I chose to be with them every day. To know that I dream, cry, and pray for them.
awesome! Congrats, you sure made an impact on this student. It's a great feeling when see your work has paid off
Honestly, if former Ss were at my retirement, that alone would make me cry.
Full circle!!! https://t.co/3lHmJAQZZL
my proudest moment was when I was able to be on the hiring committee for a former S & she nailed it.
wait I am not sure they understand how stereotypes work🤔
Not sure which is worse, PJ day or neon day. Dim the lights? https://t.co/CDsMJlBTNG
today is neon day. Yesterday PJs. 4th PJ day for my older son. My school isn't doing it.
It is wonderful! Where in CT?
I wish we were having PJ day today. Up since 2.
It is meant to go up to about 7 degrees so not bad. No rain and they'll be active. I told them to dress warmly!
I have 9 kids in my school of kids I taught or coached 'mold
I love when they inspire us!!! 😊😊😊
that's why we get up in the morning
never drop the 🎤 you could break it!
Idk how to answer today's Q, but hope it's something like "no matter how old she was, she always tried new methods and approaches"
I hope I say the same when I can retire in 3 years!
https://t.co/hToYlQsWWM
Things kids never say 10 years later "Thank you 4 helping me pass state mandated test." they will thank you for making a difference.
What I want to hear or enjoy hearing ... "He's Dill ... he has our back."
My super didn't either when he called to tell him how awful I was for allowing this to occur.
Hopefully there would be a suggestion that because of my work and that of my colleagues, they were able to pursue their dreams.
My "retweet" button is getting a workout. My followers are getting subliminal "love teachers" messages in full force!
true, I was alright in some decent cold gear this morning. Enjoy!
Truth! Have an awesome day!
So true! What a gift that would be! 😊
Thanks for the inspiration everyone! Have a great day!
Yes! I hope they would ultimately say that my classes prepared them to do anything they wanted in life.
3 years!!! That seems so close but you can't be over 30!! https://t.co/w6sokOEIbU
I hope I say the same when I can retire in 3 years!
in regular contact with a former Ss just so she can update on the forward progress of her life So cool
better he vent on me than to my teachers. I love the community spirit of this week and fully support it.
Good morning! I want former Ss to remember that I cared about them and pushed them to realize their own voices and talents
yes it is ... when former students come back and they say these type of things ... it gives you the feels.
Time to get moving...and start the coffee iv.
Authenticity and commitment! Beautiful!
It would say a lot! https://t.co/lVNxGOp18m
Honestly, if former Ss were at my retirement, that alone would make me cry.
but, but, they are the ones steroetyping... I am so confused by this
Have a groovy Tuesday! Even if you're trapped in a space with lots of neon!
gtg, it's been a great start to Tuesday! Thanks. 🇱🇨🌴☕️🌞
Took my wife into NYC to see Wicked for her birthday, ran into former Ss at pub before show. My wife & I each got a gift that day
hopefully not. Getting coffee now.
What an inspiring beginning to the day! Thank you everyone!
Have a terrific Tuesday please check out the great projects people are starting to share on https://t.co/5z4SqNbzWY
I was too and frustrated, then I felt sorry for their S who doesn't get to enjoy a fun week
Not thinking that's happening! Congrats on your award last week!
The best gems are coffee related!!
and you have another 30 years before you even start getting old !!
Well folks-I have to help my own kid get ready for "fake injury day" at school. 😳Have a great Tuesday! https://t.co/nA6qwlFMYv
exactly, I am not sure how each day actually relates to its purpose but can't it just be fun?
you know you're doing it right when Ss talk to you even when thy don't have too 😀
Boo! That's ridiculous! https://t.co/BjkiGAimpv
I was too and frustrated, then I felt sorry for their S who doesn't get to enjoy a fun week
I hope they would say I pushed them to be more excellent than they ever thought they could
Exactly. I had friends who took issue that diversity day (back in Sept) was mixed up day.
yea, @! yesterday a Ss from last year ran to my car from her hockey practice) just to hug & say hi !
yes yes yes https://t.co/RtZkE3TJe0
Kids will remember how they felt in your class more than they will remember what they learned.
I hope my students will say that they always felt loved and accepted in our classroom!
I am just going to enjoy that one a little longer...
school is such a "blah" word that carries baggage.. Let's a new descriptive name!
I do - love those! Also love seeing former Ss in the hallway - they wave frantically and it makes me SMILE big :)
When former students gather I love hearing the "remember when" stories ... end with "remember when Dill mic dropped on his last day"

Tough one... He saw me and pushed me to become more than I thought I could be. Affirmation and inspiration. https://t.co/TJnfAtWPzJ
Good morning ! Cathy, edtech specialist in "the greatest city in the world"
GM I would hope that my Ss would say that I care about them & not just their grades. That I encouraged them to be better citizens.
Good morning Jess heller teacher of gifted
Good morning . Wow, retirement seems so far away. I hope they will say she loved us and believed in us. They knew I cared.
Ss will remember that I truly listened&was interested in their ideas, that intelligence without effort is a waste
Good morning - There won't be a dinner. I'll leave a note on the door with some cash so they can have a party. I'll be gone
Good Tuesday friends, At your retirement dinner what words will your Students leave you with? https://t.co/eQL49hh8nt
I'm all for the fast fade, but be careful, Jay. At dinners, people talk ;)
Ha! Hell's Kitchen? Kitchen nightmares? Have fun, Michelle.
Hopefully they will say nice things. We will see https://t.co/2cq0hfr1w9
I'm all for the fast fade, but be careful, Jay. At dinners, people talk ;)
That he cared about us. He wanted the absolute best for us in school and in the community it. Our needs were highest priority.
what the Fucking hell does this mean and why is it #1 trending
S advice I hang onto from among 1st class taught: "Keep my young self in me always." Wouldn't that make nice retirement capstone?
I hope the words they leave me with are the stories of their lives & the difference they made in the world
Good Tuesday morning PLN, At your retirement dinner what words will your Students leave you with? https://t.co/ZmWNxuPUIe
