I would say identify a lot of songs in hip-hop which have STEM themes because technical writing of this sort helps you become a better writer overall. Writing several 15-page lab reports helped with development & execution of good story telling and comprehension. #HipHopEd

Late to the party. This movie came to mind for tonight’s topic. Such a timeless masterpiece #HipHopEd #FindingForrester

Just as Hip-Hop is more than music; literacy is more than reading to pass an annual test. They’re both life expressions #HipHopEd

#HipHopEd we can vouch for the depth of the sister’s knowledge, especially on this subject

#HipHopEd I digress. 🤦 If you have ss in your classes from non-US backgrounds, do yourself a favor and tap into artists from their home countries. Try to tie some of that in. You'd be surprised how ss soar on both ends of the spectrum

Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things. #HipHopEd #CrisisOfEarthX

Address imposter syndrome head on. Acknowledge that there is a place for them and about them in the literacy convo. #hiphoped

Meet members of your family on their technological turf. Ex: My grandma knows I like texting rather than writing letters so she texts me. Ex 2: We bought her a nook so she could read what she wants in modern fashion. #HipHopEd
