A1) No, in Utah we have a weird shortened schedule he final week of the season. Playoff weeks is getting back normal. Week 10 is played on a Wednesday. #TXHSFBCHAT
A1 cont: ideally we want to stay as close to our regular season routine as possible, but at the same time save legs and stay healthy for a long run #txhsfbchat
A1: I have been on staffs who do and don't I feel when we do change practice schedules it tends to have more negative impacts than positive. #txhsfbchat
A1; Contniue 45 to 60 on field NO PADS for Practice then 45 to 60 minutes lifting afterwards. 0 period 6:45 to 7:30 becomes physical therapy, stretching, or film study. #TXHSFBCHAT. Closer or further we go we will let kids sleep and cancel 0 Period all together. Healthy & Excited
A2 each game is on we set our sites on, epically for our seniors. We brake down how many more practices they may have left and focus on extending them #Txhsfbchat
A2: In South Carolina, there is a Lower State and Upper State playoff. Lower champ vs. Upper champ for state. So, it's something to play for those as well. #txhsfbchat
A2: Great ? Because we're all chasing the Title Game & State Trophy but usually that is not realistic. I would say getting to quarters is realistic goal in our state (OR) & Classification 2A - small rural 11 man football #TXHSFBCHAT
A2) We also want a home playoff game. We have a tough environment late in the season. 7k feet & cold cold cold, would love to get a southern UT team up here... #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: that would depend on the program you’re currently in. Sometimes a single gold ball is what you want, some programs want the state title every year (we are in the latter 😎) #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: We've made the playoffs in the past but not consistently. Need to take that next step towards being a consistent playoff team to help build the program #TXHSFBCHAT
Totally agree! If they do not have physical aspects & techniques down - your NOT in playoffs - In Playoffs it becomes about mental edge & health IMHO #TXHSFBCHAT

A2: State championship is always our number one goal. From there we set weekly goals to help us get there. Winning our region championship is a goal and measuring stick to getting to our goal of winning a state championship. #txhsfbchat
Yes. Use the same periods but shorten them all. Fewer full padded practices but still have to be full speed vs. bags to keep the timing of the O. #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: Continued my young staff did not quite make it this year, got WAXED in 1st RD at HOME. Yikes, but EVERYONE got better this year - AD's goal LOL - #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: We only pull up kids that we feel can help us in some way. Good look for scout, backup, option for Special Team to give someone a small break #txhsfbchat
#TXHSFBCHAT
A3: great question. One of my favorite things about playoff practice is having enough guys for 2 look squads and having extra coaches free. We get a ton of great looks from these guys
Q3: We can only suit 33 for a playoff game so we rotate among freshman, and everyone all 35 to 45 players travel & participate in all other aspects - easier to pass Torch #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: we are small anyway, but they are part of “it” now. They are still our scout, but we make sure they know their job is even more important. #TXHSFBCHAT
A3 our JV will continue to scout for us. We looked at it as extra practices for those kids to get better! Others are not getting those practices. #TXHSFBCHAT
Coming in late A1: playoff practices are usually shorter and more to the point. A lot less full live reps of 1s on 1s and the ones that are on a quick whistle #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: get them a few more reps than normal during individual periods. Also need them to be around and get familiar with the playoffs and the expectations associated with the program #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: subvarsity Guys are brought up to give a good scout look, and get those important extra practice days in. It’s like Bowl Practice in college for those young guys. Can’t beat experience #TXHSFBCHAT
#TXHSFBCHAT We all coach both anyway. We have flipped practice. O coaches Varsity while D coaches JV and then vice versa. But we don't keep all JV kids for playoffs.
A4: other than beating the opponent that week, we tell them to enjoy the ride, they are in the TX HS Football Playoffs, not many get to experience that #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: each week the games become more important and I️t becomes about who will blink First. You have to be sharp and sure of yourselves so you can play fast and not get lost in the moment. Dance with who brought you and don’t lose your head #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: other than beating the opponent that week, we tell them to enjoy the ride, they are in the TX HS Football Playoffs, not many get to experience that #TXHSFBCHAT
A5: I’m always extremely grateful to the seniors, and the underclassmen need to understand that and be gracious as well. We tell them to let it hurt for a while, but remember the feeling. (Have yet to talk to them after the last playoff being a win) #TXHSFBCHAT
A5: Thank you for the privilege of being involved in their young lives, particularly the seniors who at a small school, we have coached for 4 years. Take the lessons learned & be great Americans, husbands, fathers, friends etc. #TXHSFBCHAT
A5: Underclassmen, emphasize playing another sport and being in the weight room. Seniors, to take what Football teaches about collaboration, sportsmanship, work ethic, and drive into their life's endeavors #txhsfbchat
A5: all the head coaches I’ve ever been around have done a great job of letting the seniors know that they played a big part in the process, and telling the underclass men that games are won in the offseason so be ready to work! #TXHSFBCHAT
A5: the underclassmen go to the weight room after the last game to do bench. It promotes the idea that no one will outwork us in preparation for next season. #TXHSFBCHAT
