Good evening agents of change from #teachpos! Michael A. from #122edchat in Chicago. I am an award-winning #STEM Facilitator for @SmartLab_tweets from @Simmonsknights1. Wishing I was live, but I am flying to Denver, currently.
@Shapiro_WTHS Hello! My name is Alicia Tackes I teach 3rd grade in the Lindbergh School District in Missouri. This was my dad’s first Father’s Day as a grandpa, so we made sure he received lots of “grandpa attire” #teachpos#edu5213sbu
Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there! I'm Eryka and today I baked a vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free cake for my boyfriend. Happy to be here with you all tonight! #teachpos
Hi #teachpos! Valerie from FL traveling back from Indianapolis! Today my hubby is driving but he spent yesterday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway watching vintage cars race! He’s a happy dad!
Hey #TeachPos & Happy Father’s Day out there to all the Dad and Teacher Dads too! I’m Wendy Hankins, 2nd grade.
I waited on my husband hand and foot, took him to lunch and dinner, bought him a shirt and gift card, and, most importantly, wrote him a love letter. ♥️
A1: Their stories inspire me. They are dealing with so much before they enter the building, but many function with a smile. No one can guess they are carrying so much. Makes me dig deeper when I want to give up. #teachpos
A1: My students inspire me to be better each day because they constantly encourage each other and myself. They love unconditionally and still have a curiosity for learning! They don't let their home lives dictate their school life. #teachpos
A1:All I have to do is look into the eyes of my Ss to be reminded that what I do matters. To me, it’s about the relationships, they know that I would do anything for them. We’ve laughed, cried, been disappointed & celebrated together. My Ss inspire me to do & be better. #teachPOS
A1: My students inspired me daily! Their presence lifted my spirits when I entered the room...especially on days where I was feeling droopy! They were my support system and I let them know how much I appreciated them! #teachpos

Hi @Shapiro_WTHS & #teachpos crew! Christine gr 2 teacher from Massachusetts 😊 my Ss come in each day full of excitement & tremendous effort to learn & share in building relationships w/all ~ Peers, teachers, support staff ~have to do my part in making it all come together 4 all
A2: Gotta acknowledge and celebrate their accomplishments, no matter the size. A win is a win. They need to learn to embrace the good that they do. #teachpos
It always amazes me that some of our Ss are living through things we could never imagine & they can still come to school each day and smile. They deserve us to do the same for them! #teachPOS
Thank you! That means so much to me. I can’t imagine a S ever feeling like no one was on their side. It’s more important to me that they feel loved & supported than if they pass a test. #TeachPOS
A1- my students are so positive when they walk in each morning. They always come in smiling with a story to tell! That inspires me! #teachpos#edu5213sbu
My Ss inspire me with how forgiving they are. There were some times that I had really bad days, and my Ss said it was okay and that tomorrow would be better. They never held my bad days against me, so why would I do it to them? #TeachPOS
@Shapiro_WTHS A2 In my classroom I tell my students the sky’s the limit. I encourage them to knock down the barriers society can place around them and be fearless in their pursuit of their passion! #teachpos#edu5213sbu
A2: Last Friday I did a kind of reflection on the year w/ my Ss and tried to remind them how unique they each are. Went over each of their strengths individually in front of the class, looked them in the eyes and shook their hand to wish each one of them a great summer. #teachpos
A2: My students ARE superheros! They take on new activities and step out of their comfort zones on the daily, which is more than most adults willingly do. :) I am very proud of them. #teachpos
A2: I love celebrating everything, academic and nonacademic! Students deserve to feel special and loved everyday! Encouragement is huge in our classroom. We are a family that loves to celebrate & help others. #teachpos#read5305
A2.1: How do you make kids feel like superheroes in your class? Believe in them and make them believe in themselves and that they can do anything. #TeachPoshttps://t.co/AoVkklBwyh
A2- we celebrate both accomplishments and failures (because we learn from them!). We share our work and compliment and encourage each other. We also practice a ton of collaboration so they can learn and celebrate with their peers! #teachpos#edu5213sbu
A2: I believe building rapports with each student individually is the foundation to each student feeling special. Who doesn't want to be successful in an environment where they feel loved and welcomed? #Teachpos#READ5305
A2: Celebrate mistakes. What makes a hero a superhero is their ability to rise up and face all challenges no matter what. Perseverance!! #teachpros#Teachpos

A2: I acknowledge & praise their strengths. I ask THEM for help & remind them that I need them. I allow them opportunities to showcase their passions & to share that with others. Ss want someone who’ll listen & believe in them, it’s my privilege to do that for them. #teachPOS
Totally agree! And that's not always easy for them to understand. We work on that a lot in my room and we talk about having a growth mindset! #teachpos#edu5213sbu
A3: Our youngest daughter, Lilia, does this ALWAYS. I laugh at her or use humor when she rages. It settles her down pretty quickly. Once she is calm, she and I can talk about the "why" behind the "what", then brainstorm how to do things different. #teachpos
First try, but will repeat every year for sure and try to do it more often!! They seemed surprised to see how much I knew and understood them! #teachpos
A2~ look them in the eye & engage in continuous authentic heartfelt conversations with them not just about school/academics, but what’s important to them ~ praise, relevant feedback and provide a soft place to fall ~ help them up, help with action steps ~ LOVE THEM ❤️ #TeachPos
A2: In my opinion we need to focus on more on finding out about them and less on what we just see. Superheroes are valued. Kids need to know they are valued. Get to know them and talk to them about what they like/ are interested in. #teachpos
Love this! Nobody's perfect and our students need help understanding that sometimes! Celebrate the mistakes, they make us who we are! #teachpos#read5305

It’s okay to apologize to kids.
Saying sorry can be difficult to do, especially to your students.
Show them you are human. Show them you are real.
Show them you make mistakes too.
Show them your love...
...and they’ll show you respect. ♥️

A3: Kids push buttons trying to find the one that will get you to give up on them. Too many already have, show them you are not going anywhere and eventually that negativity will lessen. No promises on going away haha #teachpos
@Shapiro_WTHS A3 When I have a student that just seems to get under my skin I make sure I spend one on one time with them and find something unique that I LOVE about them! That helps me look past the frustrating times and remember they are a child I love too! #teachpos#edu5213sbu
A1: Knowing they choose to come to school each day with a smile on their face & hearing them say they love be there. 💕💕 that’s all I need to know to make it their #bestyearever#TeachPos
A3 It starts by knowing that their is something behind the behaviors. Don't take them personally. Try to know the student more and make the right connection. They may become your favorite or you may save their life... #teachpos
A3: Always try to show them I get it andu nderstand. I use humour as much as I can to ease atmosphere in class. Ss love it and are SO MUCH more likely to react in positive way when I have to intervene. Try to sit down w/ them and chat to figure out what's on their mind #teachpos
A3 #teachpos
I try to turn it inwards and figure out why I feel that reaction. It's usually helpful and telling. And I try to figure out why the student is pushing it. No one, child or adult, is trying to push buttons just to be mean. There's a deeper reason.

Talk to them! Get to know their interest & hobbies, ask about their families, favorite things to do, etc. I spend a lot of time at the beginning of the year just spending every free minute talking and sharing with them! Never waste a chance! #teachpos#read5305
I had several Ss who fit this. I sat down with their parents and got to know what was happening at home. What I found out is they had a LOT going on. I chose to see them for who they are & tried to find something they loved and bonded with them on that particular thing. #teachpos
I do the same thing! Or I find something that that kid enjoys and use that to motivate them. Like giving them a job or putting them in charge of something so they can have an outlet for some of their crazy energy! #teachpos#edu5213sbu
A3: no matter what, I will NEVER give up on Ss, EVER! I try to get to know them & understand the why behind their behaviors, you have to have a relationship established before Ss will share with you. They need to know you genuinely care- otherwise they won’t connect. #teachPOS
A3: When kids are challenging, you have to take a deep breath and continue to love them. Don’t ignore the behavior or them. Love them and teach them how to behave. #TeachPoshttps://t.co/P6ncWqrXjh
***NOT BREAKING NEWS***
Teachers have to take an interest in ALL kids. Not just the “good” kids. Not just the ones who never get in trouble. Not just the one who make good grades. ALL kids. Kids know when you don’t. They feel it. Never make a kid feel like that. @SteeleThoughts
Bonding may be over reaching. laying a path that is constructive in order to successfully teach the material would be a goal. Time, humor, patience , and modeling help #teachpos
