I'm a complete sook! Used to live in a city where it was regularly below freezing in the winter - not by much. Auckland is semi-tropical but it's only 11 degrees celsius at the moment. #gtchat
Lurking to learn? Please say āhiā and then view a livestream from Participate Learning at https://t.co/1zR97oFf7q Enjoy the chat! All the links and a summary of this chat will be posted later on our blog at https://t.co/BXpCBWnmGw#gtchat
A1) A Google search for whatever topic you're interested is always helpful š, but Hoagies is also a great place to start. Any of the gifted state and national organization websites are fantastic, too. #gtchat

A1. At the moment, most of my online searching is for my PhD so it's generally the Uni library for research but there are lots of online sites I love too. #gtchat
A1) The places online that I find most useful for locating information about giftedness and 2e are @HoagiesGifted Hoagies pages, @GiftedHF Gifted Homeschoolers Forum, SENG, Lesley Sword articles, #gtchat
A1. I also set up a FB group specifically for those involved in education so that we can share resources, etc. and grow our knowledge. https://t.co/kiDaw1VVUi
A1) Of course, you can check out @gtchatmod Twitter lists! Also, state and national gifted organization websites have great resources. Donāt rely solely on your own stateās sites; check around (TX, CA, OH, MN, CT). #gtchat
A2 In IL I like @ChicagoGifted; it's more local. Overall, again, @GiftedHF & @HoagiesGifted. For parents, I just talk/email w/them. I tend to be a recommended resource. #gtchat
A2 One of my (many) goals this summer is to make Laughing at Chaos more of a functional resource for #gifted parents. Still sussing out what that may look like. #gtchat

A3 LOVE anything @chrstinef has written. Her Emotional Intensity book is fantastic. She has books on gifted girls, & I can't wait for the gifted boys books ;) #gtchat
A3) There have been many good books written, but Iāve attempted to also include many new titles. What I donāt share during chat; Iāll include in our weekly blog post. #gtchat
A3: The Gifted Kidās Survival Guide, Some Of My Best Froends Are Books, Why Bright Kids Get Poor Grades, See Jane Win, Young, Gifted, and Black. #gtchat
The Gifted Kids Workbook: Mindfulness Skills to Help Children Reduce Stress, Balance Emotions, and Build Confidence (Amazon) Release Date: August 2018 https://t.co/QNjwLvnEek#gtchat
We are already half way through our chat! Thank you for sharing so many inspiring thoughts about books, blogs & documentaries for GT parents & teachers! Please remember to use the #gtchat hashtag to participate in the conversation. #gtchat
A3 Finally, my own book: If This Is A Gift, Can I Send It Back? https://t.co/cHK4W8Njzb#gtchat I'm working on my next book, on self-care & the needs of #gifted parents. It's been a LONG process.
A3) A little out of the box, but How To Be Everything is a great one for older kids, or even gifted parents, themselves! https://t.co/khwSGAmaVX#gtchat
A4 I'm going to again plug my own book, because I know parents have given it to parents. (And if you know me IRL, you know I never plug myself). https://t.co/cHK4W8Njzb#gtchat
A4) Although we canāt share all the new books available for teachers, we will list publishers in our blog post which is a great place to start. #gtchat
A3. I've started a library resource in Libib - books for parents and teachers. Lots of great ideas in there. I'll add the ones from today too. https://t.co/wKINuySNWE#gtchat
A4: Teaching Gifted Kids in Today's Classroom was one of the first books I bought when I was teaching third grade. It is so relevant! #gtchathttps://t.co/HY2016kL5D
The Power of Self-Advocacy for Gifted Learners: Teaching the Four Essential Steps to Success (Grades 5ā12) (Amazon) October 2017 https://t.co/kp0INrPcoS#gtchat

Our next episode of the @MindMattersPod features @AnnShoplik of @belinblank talking about acceleration. She was co-editor of "A Nation Empowered" and a great interview! #gtchat

A4 Idk real scientific books about #giftedness, but I've always wished my teachers had read more (or at least any) old drama plays and old novels. #gtchat

A4) If you haven't gotten your hands on a copy of the groundbreaking book "Twice Exceptional: Supporting and Educating Bright and Creative Students with Learning Difficulties" by @sbkaufman, you've GOT TO READ IT!!! #gtchathttps://t.co/RUZDJyeV7s
A5) Hey, thanks! Also, @TiltParenting is another great podcast for parents of differently wired kids. There's also @thefringybit. I love-love-love podcasts and can't get enough! #gtchat
A5) There are so many great blogs available for parents and teachers of gifted kids. As a disclaimer; I have a parenting blog but will not share it during the chat. Mention of resources is for information only and not recommendation. #gtchat
A5) This is an area where we have global resources that speak across cultures. Itās important to note that āgiftednessā is a shared experience regardless of where you reside #gtchat
I actually find that the most useful podcasts are the ones that have summaries of each episode on a webpage. There is never enough info within the apps. #gtchat
So very true! I was listening to something the other day - probably a podcast!! - that was talking about how being bored, having silence, etc., is a great way to increase creativity. I do love a good, quiet car ride to let my mind wander. #gtchat
In reply to
@laughingatchaos, @HoagiesGifted, @Kate_Arms
That's why we changed the FB group. Originally for NZ teachers but we need to learn from and with each other globally to increase knowledge and understanding. Create a true community of practice. https://t.co/c7iMY2fUHi#gtchat
A6) One of the most promising films, āThe G Wordā, is still in production but screenings at gifted conferences have debuted to rave reviews. #gtchat
A6) not a documentary, but series: like the big bang theory lol, young sheldon, Scorpion. I think these are important in advocating too, as they show giftedness in a more playful way. #gtchat
Final thoughts: We gotta keep writing and vlogging and podcasting about gifted issues. People learn and CARE through stories. We have the opportunity to change hearts and minds. Keep going! #gtchat
There will be no chat next week. Our next chat will be on Thursday June 14th at 8E/7C/6M/5P US and Friday 15th June at Noon NZST/10 AM AEST/1AM UK. Our topic will be āBest Movies & Television for Inspiring Gifted Kidsā #gtchat
Final thoughts: Curation is a huge project. There are lots of resources but matching the right resource with the person who needs it and can use it is hard work. #gtchat
