#aussieED Archive
#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.

Rather than prepare students for the future, let's help them create the future
A1. Collaborative learning is when people share their ideas in order to complete a learning experience
Love this!!!
https://t.co/dXutatTAgj
Rather than prepare students for the future, let's help them create the future
You must have loved the hols!
. Soon a computer will beat us all!!! lol. They get to the trends quickly though
Hello - This is Natalie and we're a research based company in the North of England :-). Nearly midday here!
Yay, Chris! So glad to see you my friend:)
A1. Collaborative learning can be Ss w' Ts, Ss w' Ss, Ts w' Ts!! As long as you have a friend you can collaborate!
A1 Everyone bringing their talents to solve and learn
Nice to see you Stu. Hope you enjoyed sunny Melbourne last week
When the sum total of learning is greater than individual capabilities. A1
Yes Hols have been a blessing
A1 I think 1 of the key parts of Collaborative learning is the emphasis on learning not just WITH others, but FROM others
A1 Collaborative learning is about learning together, questioning, challenging & going beyond
Hi all! Andrea here from East Tennessee! I teach middle school Ss Microsoft IT Acad. Love learning with anyone who wants to learn!
Karen from Brisbane! Learning happens with everyone I meet but esp my Ssπ€
Thanks Bernadette, nothing beats F2F, loved the summit!
A1 Collaborative learning is when rather than learning something someone else knows, we're trying to learn something new together.
A1. Learning where we recognise that our chief resource is not textbooks or technology but each other! https://t.co/mHbx80mseW
It was awesome, came home to NZ nothing but rain! LOL
A1. Learning that takes place within a relational setting w/ peers, where ideas are piggy backed to enhance understanding
A1: Is it learning where we work together to share the parts we know to shape our understanding? We cultivate learning together.
a1. It takes place in a space where we give, receive, push back and ultimately work towards a common goal.
Make sure you have/had time to yourself!
A1: working with others, challenging each other's thinking to deepen ubderstanding & build on knowledge, open to new perspectives
Hi everyone, Bronwyn classroom educator and global ed advocate. Sorry I am late.
A1 - Collaborative Learning is using the power of peer pressure for good!
A1:It's the sharing of the ideas and materials of schools. It's allowing an idea to be shared and a question to be answers by many
A1 Any type of learning that involves figuring out things with others
I enjoy learning with my students as I begin teaching grade 1 this year.
A1 Collaborative Learning allows for high quality and high equity for all learners
You also can't lose it, and you don't need extra copies of it:) Love this graphic. Thanks for sharing.
Great definition, Stuart!
Hi all. I'm Erin, a teacher librarian from Sydney who LOVES to collaborate with teachers and learning from others
Nice Matt, like the idea of cultivating learning. A1
Collaborative learning is working together to gain a shared outcome
A1: Collaborative learning - discussion with others about a task, topic or issue in person or virtually - often with a purpose
Crystal here, love learning from students and my faculty and others. PD is always my inspiration time
A1. Working together on a common goal. Can be in same space or virtual.
A1 Collaborative learning is about discovering truth, as opposed to memorising stuff in a textbook.
LOL. Thanks, just done an assignment on it.
some great points Graham... not sure about the need to reference to British & American roots though!!
I love to learn from my Ss, peers, educators nationally & internationally.
A1. Lots of humans learning & sharing that learning in order to create more learning!
it's only in school reports that the word "cooperative" is often used as a synonym for "compliant"! Very sad
A1 Collaborative Learning is about communication, sharing, and building skills discussing what is being be learned
Hi, Jay! Great to see you:)
A1 Two or more people learning, encouraging, helping, critiquing and brainstorming together...
Hi I am also from England but a little bit south - East Midlands - Robin Hood county
A1 Something that introverts are often uncomfortable with. Must not be forced to do it.
Hi, Brian! Great to see you:)
Been the same here. Awesome day yesterday though was able to take the kids to the Weribee Zoo. Nice to get out
A1: Collaborative learning is working together for a common goal, utilising the skills of all involved
Hello all! Greg- Kindergarten, Maryland (USA). Checking in bright and early here. Hope all are well.
Thanks for telling me LOL. Couldn't believe how warm and fine it was last week!
I thought about that the other day. Time for another trip https://t.co/kbyNbq9cnW
Hey Jay! Can you believe it's been a whole year since I was visiting you?
Collaborative learning is where the teacher doesn't have all the answers... Teachers can learn just as much from their students
What a beautiful picture! unfortunately, rarely seen in classrooms :( https://t.co/XeOQfqHjhY
A1 Two or more people learning, encouraging, helping, critiquing and brainstorming together...
I've seen it used in more powerful places in schools too, we can't settle for cooperative learning for Ss & Tchrs
Thanks ellen, it is awesome to see so many amazing international educators on tonight.
Collaborative learning builds the way for Ss to develop independent skills to lead learning together while solving problems.
A1. Collaborative Learning is a key factor in my POD lesson planning - small groups = more bravery https://t.co/qzZxDHodqU
hey, you should also check out to connect with educators.
A1 Collaborative learning is diving in together through all aspects of the learning process to gain new knowledge
A1: True collaboration goes beyond just getting along...leads to growth through hard work and deep thinking.
A1 Collaborative learning recognises what "is right" is decided by many, rather than a set discoverable unique secret.
I agree with this. Getting people together working towards a common goal is vital
A1. Collaborative learning allows us/students to benefit from the knowledge/skills of others
A1: Collaboration draws upon the knowledge & experiences of all to create common/shared meaning
A1. Collaborative Learning is being connected with educators from around the world!
A2 Talking! Lots and lots of talking!
They sooo can!! https://t.co/PHRas8RpSa
Collaborative learning is where the teacher doesn't have all the answers... Teachers can learn just as much from their students
A2. I don't think there is one 'thing' that collaborative learning can look like! It will depend on the Ss, subject, everything!
Using the best of everyones talents to benefit students. An awesome thing
Good for you. Enjoy! https://t.co/eREBHaWKxF
Heading to Singapore in two days - hopefully I will be back next year!
not sure the Co.op would agree :))
A1 Collaboration also requires us to walk and talk with others.
A2 Lots of energy, people taking different roles according to their strengths.
A1 Collaborative learning understands all learning is first social, not simply cognitive!
A1- Collaborative learning incorporates everyone's voice in the classroom to achieve growth. Ss, Ts work together for learning.
real collaborative learning gets sidelined when curriculum outcomes are focused on individualistic skills/knowledge
A2 Collaborative learning:holding ideas lightly, generating new ones together, critiquing them - hard on content, soft on people
Collaborative learning based on Vygotsky's zone of proximal development - the only way learning can occur!!!
A2 It defininitely needs to involve communication but more than anything LISTENING. Such a hard skill to develop!
Two heads are always better than one!
Is collaborative learning the same as group work?
Nice point Eddie. Collaboration for me is more about the learning than the destination.
A2. From an internal perspective very organised & structured; however, can be seen as messy & loud from outside of the process
A2. Collaborative Learning in a classroom SOUNDS noisy - or it should anyway!
A2 Collaborative learning for Ss is powerful when Ss know their learning strengths, work on passions & are solving authentic probs
The question is are students and teachers willing to take the risks to grow as people and learners?
A1 eg. collab is each group presenting their understanding of part of a topic to share with the class 2 put the whole idea 2gether
A2 messy, exciting, energising, empowering, enticing, enterprising (sorry got into an alliteration roll...)
A1) I thinking about the mulling and chewing when I think of collaboration. It's the best kind of messy.
So true...when the process outweighs the outcome.
A2: Collaborative learning looks different 4 different learning opportunities. It depends on Ss goals & what we r trying 2 achieve
A2: A tell-tale sign for me is the existence of cognitive dissonance, supported by respectful engagement with others.
A2 Teacher as guide and not lecturer, lots of failing forward and transferable roles for students.
No doubt did I have to let them teach me when we started using Minecraft!
Collaborative learning does NOT look like a rigid lesson plan. It's student driven and leads to deeper, more meaningful learning..
A2. Does it look like butchers paper and whiteboard markers?
Yes! Listening is key to successful collaboration. Respecting and supporting voice. Exchanging ideas.
collaboration is when everyone brings something to share in the learning process
A2: talking, listening, probing questions, mutual respect, piggy backing of ideas, dynamic, active but also reflective
Q2 active listening, being an active learner, Q'ning, reflecting, building a learning community, sharing,β¦ https://t.co/qxICHuuYh3
A2: I love these examples of animal collaboration - great to share with class and talk about https://t.co/itrhoVQ8kL
A2: Messy at times. When βI' think gets in the way of βweβ think. I must βunloveβ my understanding to embrace our understanding.
You guys bring such a spark to my week. I hope to get myself there in person one day.
I'm always surprised that no one ever says collaboration doesn't help.
Differentiation is key to collaborative learning so every student learns at their leading edge.
A2: I love these examples of animal collaboration - great to share with class and talk about https://t.co/gon1s8RRcd
I'm all for the process, but I ask like to know thy impact, measuring outcomes is one way
if that's what the task could benefit from & the Ss want to use them, then yes!
A2: A google doc with lots of amendments and ultimately agreement but open to contributions from all OR
A2 For collaborative learning the proof is in the pudding, for individual learning the proof is marked in red (or blue.)
A2 To me collaborative learning very rarely is about just one lesson. #
I just saw this interesting collaboration
A2 Can involve sitting on your own reading and collaborating with the author.
I agree that collaborative learning means that students work together and identify what they can offer others.
Good point Zeina, that they key, outcomes are one way...
A2: Every person has a voice and everyone is recognized for their strengths, thoughts, ideas, and learning styles
Yes! In many ways, it isn't a cookie-cutter lesson. Ss-centered and Ss-led activity.
I was getting close to saying something very much along those lines... Depends on the subject right
Stuart Kelly
Good point Zeina, that's the key, outcomes are one way...
A2b. The most rich and deep experiencial learning available. Problem-solving, interpersonal skills, 21 Century skills all inc.
A1) I think about the mulling and chewing when I think about collaboration. It's the best kind of messy.
A2 It changes. What works one day may not work the next day. A valued goal is always key for Teachers and Students
what do we do about the spectators or blockers at the table?
A2 Collaborative learning probably scares many teachers as it causes them to re-assess their role and their identity as a teacher.
Give them a leadership role that requires their participation and skills.
We would love you to come join us. It would be our privilege.
ha ha hilarious, and very true!
there are strong skills/values outcomes too, we need to honour them as we do content
A2 looks different in subjects but Ss sharing, discussing moving giving constructive feedback.
Good point, these outcomes over academic grades are the need-to-measure ones.
Thank you :-) glad you find it useful! Please do have a look at the post too as more detailed: https://t.co/mrhPv39dMH
A2 working together, asking questions, finding answers, asking new questions, searching for more answers
Hello all! Checking in from North Carolina; 4C's teacher; Elementary
A2: It might be where a problem or question is introduced and then the class researches and finds a solution. Teacher guides
A2 needs to be modelled to students so that it can be done in a safe learning environment
Very true indeed! Tasks that have a good balance are key.
A2 Collaborative learning causes us to reimagine what it is to be mathematicians, as opposed to know math facts and algorithms.
A2. Collaborative learning does not look like a group project. It is a group effort!
I agree and often the students do measure/reflect on the journey internally anyhow.
A2: I remind myself that all of the 'skills' being described here must be explicitly taught...need to be careful not to 'assume'.
Collaboration... https://t.co/sE4S36xyS2
A2b. The most rich and deep experiencial learning available. Problem-solving, interpersonal skills, 21 Century skills all inc.
I don't see the problem! Best ideas ever often get laughed at-people get uncomfortable w/ out of box thinking...
Difference Collaborative Group work &Compliant Group work. Collaborative is where they actually learn from each other. 1/2
A2. Lots of recording & discussion & sketching and Controlled arguments!
Nice work, Ts need to understand collaboration is an ongoing and slow process.
This is grt example of all below https://t.co/ZNZxbM6iiQ students collaborating on issues from ASEAN . Wo⦠https://t.co/G3hKFlGcUq
A2b. The most rich and deep experiencial learning available. Problem-solving, interpersonal skills, 21 Century skills all inc.
Q2 weirdly sometimes it looks like a bunch of Ss staring at devices working together, but looking alone esp. with Google apps
It is often the unmeasurable by "tests" that is the most important to industry.
Hi, Bronwyn! Great to see you:)
A2. Students more in control. Their voices heard more than their teacher. Teams creating ideas, reaching understanding together.
not sure if I agree with that, what if they were Ss underperforming? Or teachers not contributing? HMW encourage?
A2 I like collaborative learning most when it's organic. I love catching my ss supporting each other without my prompting.
2/2 Compliant is assigning work, the job gets done but its not collaborative, meaningful or effective
Are you saying collaboration good, individual bad? isn't that a bit simplistic?
A3 Teachers need skills to differentiate so students learn collaboratively at just beyond their current level of understanding.
I am saying this a lot lately. Listening. We need to listen, comprehend, question and act to collaborate effectively
A3 I like using as the process relies on involvement from all, each phase depends on ppl & leads to solving a prob
Hi Today I'm at a teacher meeting. Will join next week!
Hello tweets artners ..greating from Spain
A3 Relating to others, Managing Self and Participating & Contributing... some of the NZ curriculum
A3 listening more than anything. I have tried Socrative circles w Y7 +8 and they do need lots of practice w this skill We all do!
A3 talking 10%, listening 90% (need 10 people to make that maths work though!)
a3. Soft skills that we Must start teaching before it's too late. Empathy, kindness, etc. are as important as math if not more so
A3: ability to communicate your ideas, empathy as you listen to other viewpoints, better self-awareness as you contribute ideas
A3: Ability to listen, reflect, share, understand, collaborate, and most of all empathize with others
Even worse in university as you'd think as 'adults' people would want to contribute their bit...!
A3 I think Collaborative Learning assists students to embrace failure as a constructive tool for learning
This is the exact image I use when teaching my Year 11 Biology kids about symbiosis!! Perfect example :) https://t.co/L73c4tsaiZ
A2. Good Collaborative Learning allows "Teacher Talk" to be drowned out by effective "Student Talk"
I love it when I am helping another S and someone has a question and their neighbor helps them before I can.
A3. Patience and lots of it, team work, interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve and be creative inquirers
A3: Turn Taking, negotiating, reflecting, paraphrasing, being concise - heaps!!!!
Yes! β 'skills' must be explicitly taught...need to be careful not to 'assume'. β
A3 negotiation, listening, discussing, humility, sharing, Ss (& Ts) need to be open minded to new ideas, we don't know it all!
A3:Collaborative work is consistent w/Constructivism-S's create meaning. 1st teach interpersonal skills & build trusting community
I think collaborative learning is a great way to work personalised learning https://t.co/z1hHWwPuI8
A2 Collaborative learning probably scares many teachers as it causes them to re-assess their role and their identity as a teacher.
A3 students need to be able to listen to each other and give constructive feedback
A3 Negotiation, tolerance, understanding, patients. REAL LIFE skills!
A3. The ability to plan, organise, communicate, problem solve both f2f and using tech tools
Love the word compliant. Collaborative work is getting the minimum done to satisfy a required outcome
A3. Collaborative Learning requires we all learn to better LISTEN in world where TALKING seems to be valued more.
A3. Listening, confidence - to share, step back (when necessary), seeing ideas from different viewpoints, reflecting, creating
A3 I think CL also assists you to embrace challenge as something you can attempt to master rather than challenge being unchangable
Trust is an essential element often overlooked. We can only move at the speed of trust - Steven Covey
A3 devlp cold & warm feedback, productive group wrk jobs etc, time management. All of these need to be taught to Ss to do well
A3: Empathy. Patience. Shared understanding and communication of our ideas and intent. We learn unlearning, to relearn new ideas.
A3. Listening, trust, active participation, co-operation, ethical behaviours, problem solving, self-control just to name a few
A3: Thinking about it, a big skill is respect for others and their ideas also grows empathy and learning
Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly
Yup! Those ever important interpersonal skills-something, that until recently, weren't valued in education.
A3: Life skills r developed; compromise, problem solve, negotiate & work effectively as a team. Everything we want our Ss to learn
A3. I think it also takes a certain level of modesty - the realisation that you can learn from others and be a listener
Supporting and respecting voice...that resonates with me.
A3 Supports developing skills required in workplace. Maximize this via cross cultural collaboration. Connect with peers globally.
A3 a belief in the process, a desire to want to learn more, a willingness to learn from mistakes
Do you always need to be a collaborative learner? Sometimes Ss need alone time to process and think? It's about the situation
A3 Collaborative learning requires teaching about collaborative learning... Especially if students are coming from sitting in rows
language learning is about expressing ideas, not single or groups of words
Plus teachers have autonomy they are not dictated in what they have to do - base for innovation & creativity
So true. In collaborate, I get to learn, not grade.
I'm so passionate about getting this message across anyone who thinks otherwise...
The journey definitely gets lost in a final outcome sometimes
A3 Listening, empathy, and communication skills to get the job accomplished.
Empowering when that happens. Ss feel heard; willing to continue to participate, add input. Growth!
A3: Collaborative learning skills: listening, speaking, critical thinking, reasoning, growth mindset, and problem solving.
Very true! A good balance is key. https://t.co/uNGnAwYJOC
Do you always need to be a collaborative learner? Sometimes Ss need alone time to process and think? It's about the situation
I got to do that with when I read Learn Like a Pirate. He was great and answered all my ?'s
Great point Brett! I think, like in life, we need to find balance-teach many skills not just focus on 1
how might they contribute to the cause?
I think this is critical aspect of the collaborative classroom! Relational intelligence is critical! https://t.co/cipoR8QP2U
Do you always need to be a collaborative learner? Sometimes Ss need alone time to process and think? It's about the situation
A4. Sometimes as a Learner I just want to get in and do it myself, learn by doing not talk about it
A good list. This happens when there is collaboration. What happens when it goes wrong?
Adriana teaching and learning coach Melbourne. Sorry for being late.
A3 I actually don't think that reducing collaborative learning to skills adequately explains its worth.
true. Diff to be collaborative when those you are working with don't want to be - my own kids have experienced this!
Disruption is the way of the future, it's the light on the hill
Q3 Cross cultural collaboration builds respect, understanding, resilience and understanding. Global collaboration changes kids!
eg. Everyone brings different knowledge ti build a website together.
Even if it's not a successful session, it can make collaboration weaknesses visible. Blog post: https://t.co/866f7m0uXJ
A4 Introverted skills and deep individual thinking
It just hit me we're collaborative learning. right this minute:)
So sad - my 1/2hr break is over-back to work for me. Thanks for an excellent chat! Thanks for moderating :-)
PBL: Project manager and various roles
A4 when there is an element of relating to the safety of Ss
What or who is silly? I don't see anyone calling you names. Who are you suggesting is silly? Better wording needed?
You need to consider this when constructing tasks to be used for collaborative learning as well
A4. Some students find it extremely difficult to work in a team. This needs to be respected.
A4-collab learning groups need positive, product orientated and nurturing leadership
Ts prepare students for the world... We want people who make society a better place... Great Point Andrea https://t.co/eVyH8tISox
A3 Listening, empathy, and communication skills to get the job accomplished.
Being a HS teacher, collaborative work can be too much for Ss when it is formally assessed, esp. when all members aren't onboard
A4. "Sometimes we just need to get through the content b/c there is so much to cover". Quote has been overheard. Depth is needed
A4: challenging for the shy Ss who need time to think, lack confidence in their abilities or prefer to work independently
A4: In testsβ¦but it should be. When groups are dysfunctional. Our desire to measure often challenges collaborative thinking.
A4 Collaborative Learning cannot take place if there isn't a culture of respect present first
Hi, Neighbor! Eastern or Western NC?
A4: The oldest voice or most forceful personality dominating the outcome OR the point of learning lost
A4 One challenge is that with CL progress invloves time and sometimes people want results straight away.
Independent reflection and thinking plays a huge role in all learning. Collaborative or not https://t.co/HdnGJhrc7M
Do you always need to be a collaborative learner? Sometimes Ss need alone time to process and think? It's about the situation
compliant is a word for doing the bare minimum. We need to treat this word as a swear word. Ours S deserve better
A4: I'm not sure it is ever not positive. The smartest person in the room, is the room.We live in a world that values all ideas
What about the kids who have ASD, ADHD etc - they thrive collaboration but struggle to cope at times, we must be the mentors.
A4: Collaborative learning is gr8 @ times, but as Ts we need 2 provide variety: Ss need 2 learn 2 effectively work independently 2
reject the TPP Trade deal its nothing more then a corporate bill of rights....
A3) Listening, listening, listening. That's the step we're working on right now in 1-D:)
A4 it's hard work but mostly time-consuming. That is why in HS as it is organised is not as effective... very unfortunately
A4 Some students use their friends as a crutch when the task requires them to think for themselves.
Sherwood Forest a great spot - went there this summer & completed the course
A4b. How do we assess and report on individual understanding within the collaborative learning?
A4: Greatest challenges come if necessary skills are not explicitly taught.
Is there an ideal size for collaborative groups? Some say 3 https://t.co/oFa2oraU5d
Being a HS teacher, collaborative work can be too much for Ss when it is formally assessed, esp. when all members aren't onboard
full class collaboration be used 4 specified LEs but students should be allowed 2 choose 2 collaborate when suits them
A response not to any question. I'm a bit tired of people using name calling and other derogatory terms in this chat.
A4. Like all things balance is critical, know your individuals and know your classroom dynamics!
A4 it can take too long, Ss can get off task and you have to be mindful of behaviour
said it in the tweet. Anything with singular focus that devalues other approaches!
Another big thing I've found is when a group member is away, the rest of the group can suffer - reduced now thanks to Google Docs!
A4 when a S lacks confidence it cld become a crutch & they don't push themselves to succeed & find what they alone are capable of
Coping skills have become increasingly less evident. Ts must be mentors, modeling coping strategies for success.
A4 As long as collaborative learning is student directed, allowing students to buy in & out, it's the most effective way to learn.
Q4 my classroom is one big collaborative learning enviro, never a quite moment. Classroom design a vital tool to collaboration.
Favourite unit at uni. So powerful and allows students to progress as learners with a great framework
True. Often, though, when given the opportunity those βfriendsβ step up when they need to play a role in group success.
I've seen the magic this creates since we started our Maker/Genius time.
A3: listening, having empathy, being willing to give up the need to have it your own way.
I try to limit 3-4. I teach Science, so definitely no more than 4 - in Stage 6, lucky to be able to do 2 due to class size
A4: Must balance opportunities for collaboration with opportunities for independent learning...important skills there too.
G'day mate, is there an issue? https://t.co/H5TeYd7AtP
A response not to any question. I'm a bit tired of people using name calling and other derogatory terms in this chat.
If it's not working don't be afraid of stopping the class & trying something else
glad I'm not the only one Joel. Hope it reaffirms the worth of your efforts.
bigger challenger is Ss know when they need work in pairs, alone or small grup. Some skills need dif.ways https://t.co/p4wzg3zK5F
A4: S insecurity; S overconfidence paired together. Grouping without purpose
Q14B getting in amongst the kids, one to one conferences a must & you need to know your kids.
I love seeing older students play. We all need more play in our day.
I had to exit a prep PE class the other day. It worked for everyone else. We talked about it and grew
Awesome! Trying to structure maker/genius time for my Kinder Ss. Great learning!
A4 Collaborative learning doesn't produce (short term) results in tests, if teachers feel pressed to produce these sort of results
If you ever want to Mystery Skype, let me know.
Listen, think, think, think, plan and think, listen then act
In the spirit of our chat tonight on collaboration https://t.co/TNDxvyoy3S
I wish more edus were as easily convinced about the great benefits of digital collaboration. We would have more rel⦠https://t.co/X3SPtfFYrw
I met ( founder) at a local conference back in April and created an account the very same day.
Ss work in teams in the kitchen classroom. Get shared result, but each also gets individual results. Works well for me.
I heard from at GAFE summit that 3 is good, because no travellers/lurkers https://t.co/6hfwrErnQN
I try to limit 3-4. I teach Science, so definitely no more than 4 - in Stage 6, lucky to be able to do 2 due to class size
It's all about trial & error with new things
didn't mean to offend. Critiquing myself more than anyone else. Sorry if unclear folks.
A4: I think most learning works better with collaboration, if it is true collaboration, in the right environment :)
A5: No, of course not. Teachers learn best, and create the best new ideas and resources, when working together
As a welfare teacher this is where the bulk of my time is. Students need resilience as well
Collaboration is for anyone who wants to learn... sometimes learning on your own can be boring! Share it with others!
It's slowly becoming that. I love that it has made me a better educator/learner again.
That's the real disadvantage, is that exams are individual...
A5. All of you are learning collaboratively now :p GO TEAM
A4 Understanding collaborative learning is not always collaborative assessment. Who liked group assignments at uni?
A5 collaborative learning powerful for anyone, especially teachers! Collective wisdom, diversity of approaches/thinking
