Our older Ss translate too. It is hard though when working with the little ones.

I would love to learn Chinese!
-
It would be since they are learning two languages at the same time.
-
We had that at my previous school. In fact, our exchange program was large. We graduated Ss from 28 countries.
-
We actually have a very low amount of ELL in our school. https://t.co/8rQSjCMGms

We have many ELL students who speak Spanish and Portuguese at our school.

-
-
No worries ... What subject do your Ss have trouble with?
-
A3: Our Ss score disproportionately lower in ELA as compared to math.

A3: Vocabulary is always difficult. Also, comprehension and spelling.
-
We have Ss that speak very well English as their 2nd language & score really low on comprehension.
-
- 4th Question is Coming up next!
-
Spelling is also an issue. They try to spell it as it sounds and sometimes that doesn't work.
-
-
Woot the slide matched the question.
-
A4: Now I can say it...in a word, YES!
-
How do you get around that hurdle?
-
A4: Communication is a challenge due to my limited ability which is why I am practicing:)
-
I have tried doing written letters and use Google Translation. It is difficult. https://t.co/YgHbwpGG6h
-

How do you get around that hurdle?
-
Have you thought about augmented home communications?

-
-
5th Question is Coming up next!
-
I didn't get my hands on training...I still need that so I can see HOW to augment.
-
-
-
-
-
There are a few ways to augment. I can see a short video of Ss translating or written translation or both.
-
-
Will you share the link? https://t.co/HSD1cTPbkS

A5: Seesaw, parent/family nights, and texts/phone calls home
-
I am still working on the Augmented Home Connection. I am hoping to get ideas on how I should go about it.
-
is a great way to communicate with parents. You can add augmented content within it too.
-
I use a picture speaks 1,000 words
-
I love that idea too. A picture speaks a 1,000 words... you got me thinking now!
-
I haven't tried augmenting in &Seesaw! https://t.co/3Y6Lwfuc2Z

A6: Usually the curriculum that is suppose to he helpful. Teacher created ideas work so much better.

I find Ts know Ss needs better than the Textbook peeps.
-
A6: (sort of...) Has anyone made vocab cards to serve as triggers that would link to the word in a native language?
-
No that I know of... But would love to make some if I had a list of words.
-
7th Question is Coming up next!
-
. I guess that you could put a pic on the English word. Maybe augment phrases???
