"Welcome to EdTechAfterDark! Our community was born out of discussions for a rich EdChat type gathering for those of us who are thinking about the digital edu-landscape long after the sun has gone down. For us night owls, when the clock strikes 10PM EST, you’ll find us on Twitter over at #edtechafterdark. All are welcome! Our discussions range from our philosophies about EdTech, digital best practices, and simply sharing our stories." --www.edtechafterdark.com
Sylvia, Academic Coach/ENG Tchr at Title 1 HS in Tampa ... fav words for #EdTechAfterDark — “it’s finally here” ... to get through bad times “this too shall pass”
Sadly ... without hurt / loss, we can’t appreciate joy / happiness ... I know my losses remind to always appreciate the time I have with those I love #EdTechAfterDark
Our principal started the year by telling us the subgroup that is growing the fastest across the nation is the homeless student population 😔 (not a race or gender, poverty wins the title) #EdTechAfterDark
A3 Recognize/Teach the steps of grief ... remind sts it’s normal to be sad .. going on with life is not shameful, it is a reality & celebration of the + memories #EdTechAfterDark
But I would argue that all people experience & struggle with trauma ... I think it’s more fear than lack of understanding.. we all struggle with this area-how do we help if we can’t even cope? #EdTechAfterDark
And sadly, trauma is getting worse while are avoidance / support to know how is lessening ... we did get a 45 min training about suicide prevention ☺️ #EdTechAfterDark
As usual... #EdTechAfterDark encourages tchrs to step out of our comfort zones to help our sts ... thanks friends/family ... 💜 my PLN (missed seeing you guys at EdCampTB)
