I wish I found this movement back when I was in high school because just engaging in this conversation would have helped me analyze things differently and use the knowledge I learn to make a difference within the classroom, and become that voice of reasoning #HipHopEd

We do! We're based in NYC, but are used in curriculum around the US, Canada & Jamaica! We also run a program/competition called #ScienceGenius, and hold our final battle at the end of each school year. We're always down to get more people involved #HipHopEd
I came into the #HipHopEd fam right around the time I started working intently in urban edu & reform. It was refreshing to see people embrace our culture in very real and very impactful ways that put students first for a change.
We have to take inventory on how far we have come in our professions as individuals over these past years & then unite to change the game for the youth that we serve #HipHopEd
That I find fascinating with #HipHopEd is how we critically analyze and integrate the structures of education. #HipHopEd operates a digital vehicle of social justice across the many disciplines of education and pop culture as a whole.
True! And would be dope to take a piece of this to Philly / NJ / B-more area to implement programs or anything else that's local yet in alignment with #HipHopEd writ large

As a prof at an HBCU what I am finding alarming is the lack of student engagement and lack critical thinking skills. We must use #HipHopEd as an ecosystem that cultivates intellectual growth in every academic level.
We want push the bar for how Hip-Hop is received and regarded for its academic rigor, it’s social emotional learning framework and its embodiment of 21st Century Learning and Innovation Skills #HipHopEd

One of the most important #hiphoped take-aways is reminding me and my Ss of the importance of the cypher, and that most pedagogical questions can and will be answered there, verse by verse, either written or off dome
