Q1: Introductions...Which PD learning format do you prefer? Online, Face-to-Face, or Blended (both Online & Face-to-Face) Why?
A1 Iβm a blended PL gal. Sometimes I need interactions. Others, & & other platforms do it!
A1 Kathleen from Hillside. I'd say both, I like to hear, then tinker on my own.
A2: both, like online for self paced easiness but face 2 face bc assistance is right there
A1: Nancy from Abbotts Hill. I like blended. Like to be able to work at my own pace.
A1: Hannah Rome-CCES K. Blended! I like to have a heads up on what PD will be about & face-to-face for questions and examples!
Hey ! Steph from here. Favorite format is BLENDED! Love to leverage tech but love that coaching too
Q2:How do you ensure your preference(online,face-to-face,or blended)does not hinder your ability to personalize PD for others?
A1 I actually am a blended girl myself
A1: Depends on the quality of PD. If high quality then face-to-face to build on the hands-on learn aspects.
A2: Try to offer a variety of options, so everyone can get what works best for them.
A2 I usually always deliver F2F during faculty or planning but pre-work and exit ticket is virtual or electronic for staff
A2 Offer it all! Itβs our jobs as coaches to meet P where they R
A2: I like to send a learning or interest survey before the PD
Better late than never.. I made it.
A2: Put all the resources out there! Consider staff schedules, the master schedule and teachers' strengths.
Heather checking in from ready for
A3: Curating Resouces and Coaching/Modeling are the current trends in my PD offerings.
A3: Allow for flexibility and meet them where they are with content.
A3: Use Padlet to allow input on topics to cover. Schedule sessions so teachers can pick and choose what they need.
A3 - let them choose different stations to rotate to based on interest or where they feel development is needed
A2: starts ALWAYS with an interest/preference survey and is customized from there. I try not 2 assume
A3 Ts choose how/when to learn. Before school; lunch; digital badging site, coaching cycle.
Missing tonight but the will be whole again tomorrow!
A3: I provide variety, so people can choose what works for them. F2F + video tutorials + self guided directions, etc.
A3 do a zillion private conversations in the hall, at carpool etc...count?
A3: I share out materials, advice and a listening ear to colleagues. I've also used Nearpod and Padlet to share out info.
- Should we do some for ?
Q4: Are there easy methods for providing Personalized PD that give choice and voice to participants?https://t.co/0iNxgbIcNS
A3: I love to offer stay & play or get it& go...I also use Yammer
Don't ever let the opportunity pass to MODEL best practice (7 principles of PL) in your
- A4: Yes! It's all easy to do when you're !
Sorry for the tardiness! Just got home from the Java Join Up thing at McNair.
A3: Experimenting with badges was teams/grade levels as they work toward a tech goals or implementation of app
A3: Creating a PL University. Everyone signs up for their MAJORS (based on TKES needs of improvement) & MINORS (interests)
A4: I have a PD OneNote When I do F2F trainings, I create directions in there and also provide links for videos/resources.
Joining in...
A3. and baked goods, of course.
A4: Allowing Teachers to CHOOSE their sessions/experiences or goal set and track their own learning is empowering.
A4 Provide lots of opportunities to learn. Get Ts involved in leading.
A4. Yes, but you have to start by convincing school admin that Personalized PD is as good or better than trad.
Since it's intended for the Ts, & that is the exact reaction I want! Laugh. Better than being scared of tech.
A4 is good at this. Based on our strengths and weaknesses he personalizes his PDs and within that there's choice
A5 Ask them what they want to get better at and what they would share. Then have leaders and learners.
A5: Survey Monkey about preferred delivery method and topics of interest.
Q5: a creating a quick form to assess proficiency levels or solicit feedback is great way to collect data
A5: There's a survey here in the toolkit for
A5. Interesting Q. Survey. Ask what they like/ didn't like. Ask how they could use something. Ask what they'd like more of
I like getting teachers to lead, lift them up! https://t.co/vGilp4zZBA
A5 Ask them what they want to get better at and what they would share. Then have leaders and learners.
the chat is live now. Hope you can find some good resources!
A5: Allow PLCs/grade levels to reflect on what they need as a team. Offer feedback so they know their voice was acknowledged.
A5 I would say some form of survey. Let the teachers test it out and provide feedback
A5: Administrators can use TKES rating to identify opportunities for growth for differ groups.
A5: Google Forms & Linoit can used to survey teachers of their weaknesses and what THEY view as an opportunity of growth.
Admins set TKES ratings so that may be a circular argument. Do they decide in advance what growth is needed & rate?
how could administration use the data to offer teachers voice and choice? They'd get more buy in and impact, I think
A6 I send screencasts if someone needs specific. Or we teacher the power of SM they will learn!
A6 It could be done in videos, self paced nearpods, screen casted. Saves time and allows move on when ready
A6: Use to record voice over and deliver content. You can embed questions see who has viewed your content.
No tech involved, but I did just rescue my cat who got caught somehow in my daughter's dresser. Go figure
- Yes! homework is perfect for all Ss, Ts, and Ps! So easy to learn at home & at your own pace!
A6: I created a yammer group to support our school's focus to support teachers on their own time
A6: provide a place where they can access resources on their own time. Videos, interactive tutorials, asynchronous chats, etc.
A6 creating a PLN on Twitter for your school to support initiatives or having a resource scavenger hunt on Twitter
Time is a big deal! Having access on our own time lets T's get help no matter when or where they are!
A6 -2 Sometimes a non-tech solution is great. I have printed brochure for Ts for diff e-media available. Tactile matters.
Hey everyone! Sick little one at home, so I'm checking in off and on! Love the responses!
tell me more about the resource scavenger hunt idea. I'm intrigued!
Q7: How do you personalize PD for teachers that don't like to change or trying new things in the classroom?
- I think we need to rework this presentation and redeliver!!
hope your little gets better quickly. π
A7: Show compassion & understanding that change is hard. Build trust w/them.
A7: Give them the personal touch. Coaching that is aligned with meeting goals they set for themselves. Start small.
A7: Teachers hesitant to change just need to know how PD relates to their grade level. Prepare plenty of examples.
A7 It's all about patience and understanding but I think it's key to find one tool initially that they feel comfortable with
A7: Just like with Ss who are resistant. Value them and their feelings, and offer motivation and support to move ahead.
A7 Build relationships 1st. Then move to PD or coaching
A7: Work together as a team. Discover the standard, Co-Plan followed by co-teaching to aid in implementation!
A7 start with something you love and have had success with.
- I tell everyone that is my transition drug. Works every time!
A7: Embrace instructional risks for innovative purposes.
that's my go to! It's easy to use and the students love it which wins over the teachers
Q8: How do personalize PD for the participants that have seen it all, did it all, and wrote the book on your topic?
has the right idea FEED THEM!
- Completely!! I always find it to be a pretty easy sell!
is life changing! Perfect for Ss and Ts! The perfect one-stop shop! https://t.co/DWbSju4IV6
- I tell everyone that is my transition drug. Works every time!
LOVE Q8! This is a challenge for us all!
A8: Turn to the TIM. How can they use the tool/concept in a new way to move towards transformation?
- Keep talking like that and they'll quote you again!
Q8: if they have seen it all...continue to build their capacity by encouraging them to lead their own "go & grow" sessions
A8: Invite them to plan PD with you or lead PD on their own.
A8: PARTNER with those who have a great deal of knowledge to co-plan/ co-deliver with you. (or Triplets) ROCK
A8: Enrichment opportunity! Allow them to share w/each other. Maybe create an innovative way to help others. Raise "their" bar.
great way to build capacity and empower teacher leadership.
A8. Encourage the tech leaders to teach, show off, present, share & turn to the Dark Side called
So important. Personalizing for the reluctant learner (Ts or Ss), relationship is key to success. https://t.co/yXlZWSuuOH
A7 Build relationships 1st. Then move to PD or coaching
you ROCKED it with the chat 2nite. :)
Empathy for the learner (fellow teacher or student) goes a long way! https://t.co/nfCl76KH5W
A7: Just like with Ss who are resistant. Value them and their feelings, and offer motivation and support to move ahead.
