#admin2b A1: When tech is integrated to enhance the learning goal - not be the learning goal in-and-of itself.
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:06 PM EST
Welcome! :) That sounds awesome! You’ll have to share more as it progresses. #admin2b
    In reply to @Teach_Learn88
  • mromero0717 Dec 4 @ 8:07 PM EST
A1: Not "doing" tech but using it as a tool to ENHANCE student learning. #admin2b
  • BrianDunleavy16 Dec 4 @ 8:07 PM EST
A1 Purposeful. Not just for the sake of using it but it enhances the lesson. Connects with learners. Ts use it well. #admin2b
  • Teach_Learn88 Dec 4 @ 8:07 PM EST
A1) The best tech instructional practices include having students create there own works and being able reach outside of the classroom and even their normal environment. #admin2b
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:07 PM EST
A1: Technology is a tool, not a learning outcome. Technology can enhance the learning experience. #admin2b
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:08 PM EST
A1: tech that is used to augment a lesson, but not become it's focus. An application or tool that puts students in a position to leverage it in order to become more independent in their learning. #admin2b
  • BryanMcDonaldPD Dec 4 @ 8:08 PM EST
Realizing it is not about the technology but about the Learning. Teachers using it to support and differentiate students learning. #admin2b
  • TBonhotel Dec 4 @ 8:08 PM EST
Tech is a tool- use it to engage the Ss to dig deeper in their thinking and learning. #admin2b
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:09 PM EST
    Question 2 coming in 1 minute! #admin2b
  • BBaumeyer Dec 4 @ 8:09 PM EST
#admin2b A1b: pet peeve is when "integrating" tech ONLY looks like Ss looking up definitions of vocabulary words...
  • jodiepierpoint Dec 4 @ 8:09 PM EST
Hello #admin2b - jumping in a little late! A1 - tech should enhance the lesson, not be the lesson.
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:10 PM EST
    Question 2: #admin2b
  • McNulty1977 Dec 4 @ 8:11 PM EST
3rd grade teacher and #admin2b from Hingham, MA checking in on the chat!
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
A2: leaders need to allocate resources to Ts and Ss, be clear about the vision that is to be regarding tech AND learning, as well as giving Ts time to research, discuss, and share best practices. #admin2b
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
A2: Leaders must model the use of technology in all that they do. #admin2b
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
    Welcome! :)#admin2b
    In reply to @McNulty1977
  • BryanMcDonaldPD Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
A2: Model, Model, Model. Support, support, support. #admin2b
  • BBaumeyer Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
#admin2b A2: being the model of "Hell, let's try this out." Showing it's okay to jump in and make mistakes along the way
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
A2: Principals must be Technology leaders to establish the vision 4 technology in the classroom, providing PD, securing resources, showcasing technology during meetings. #admin2b
  • MrHillPPS Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
A1: Tech can not be used simply as a substitute for a lesson you already have. Tech should transform your lesson to better student understanding. #admin2b
    In reply to @MrRussoRH
  • TBonhotel Dec 4 @ 8:12 PM EST
A2 Leaders need to use tech too--model what they want to see #admin2b
  • BrianDunleavy16 Dec 4 @ 8:13 PM EST
A2 Lead by example! Also support the Ts extension into that realm, whether through more creative planning/lessons, PD time in and out of school hours/building , encouraging grants for more funding for tech needs. #admin2b
  • jodiepierpoint Dec 4 @ 8:13 PM EST
A2. Leaders need to make sure Ts and Ss have access to the technology. I wish @YouTube wouldn't be blocked!! #admin2b
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:14 PM EST
A2: Leaders must also provide supports for learning the technology whether that is through PD or through coaching. #admin2b
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:15 PM EST
    Question 3 coming in 1 minute! #admin2b
  • Teach_Learn88 Dec 4 @ 8:15 PM EST
A2) Leaders guide the school to what is important. Leaders need to be the #1 cheerleaders. First by modeling usage, 2nd by giving time for PD and planning for teachers to use the tools, and 3rd by assisting teachers in the implementation by proving excellent feedback! #admin2b
  • MrHillPPS Dec 4 @ 8:15 PM EST
A2: Capacity building for your teachers. When it comes to tech, sometimes we get inundated with strategies getting rammed down our throats. Build capacity over multiple PD for better integration. #admin2b
    In reply to @MrRussoRH
  • fordaka Dec 4 @ 8:15 PM EST
#admin2b A2: I think that as instructional leaders, we should model what we expect. In meetings, we should use technology effectively.
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:16 PM EST
    Question 3: #admin2b
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:16 PM EST
A2: Leaders must also help to identify the other parties that need support when it comes to technology, Ss, Ps, the community? and the approach in addressing this. #admin2b
  • jodiepierpoint Dec 4 @ 8:17 PM EST
A3. Take risks! Try new things! Learning is no longer limited to the 4 walls of the classroom. #admin2b
  • BrianDunleavy16 Dec 4 @ 8:17 PM EST
A3 Know what you are doing and show multiple uses. Allow teachers to play after you model it. #admin2b
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:18 PM EST
A3: the purpose. Much of the learning that tech augments can be done WITHOUT tech. Therefore, what purpose does the tech play--is it substitution or extension of learning? Need to be clear! #admin2b
  • mromero0717 Dec 4 @ 8:18 PM EST
A3: Offering differentiation, choice - not all Ts are in the same tech comfort zone #admin2b
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:18 PM EST
Love that you added the other important stakeholders! #admin2b
    In reply to @andreakornowski
  • TBonhotel Dec 4 @ 8:18 PM EST
A3 Remind Ts that they have to try it, use it...don't be afraid to step outside the box. It doesn't bite #admin2b
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:18 PM EST
A3: Resources available/network infrastructure, ongoing PD, supporting Ts more “resistant” to change, #admin2b
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:18 PM EST
A3: Start by first identifying the content that you want to address, the method and instructional strategies, and finally identify the tool to support. #admin2b
  • jodiepierpoint Dec 4 @ 8:19 PM EST
A3. I think it's also important to remember that not everyone is at the same comfort level with tech and we need to keep that in mind. #admin2b
  • MrHillPPS Dec 4 @ 8:19 PM EST
A3: Test it out yourself. If you can’t see using it in your classroom, or it doesn’t fit a need for your building, it’s probably best to shift focus elsewhere #admin2b
    In reply to @MrRussoRH
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:19 PM EST
This is key. It's important to have Ts reflect on where and how they can transfer their learning and use it. #admin2b
    In reply to @BrianDunleavy16
  • Teach_Learn88 Dec 4 @ 8:20 PM EST
A3) Look for tools that give you the most bang for your buck. What can be used in all classes that everyone can become experts on. The high flyers will go the extra mile but the nervous ones will be overwhelmed if given too many resources at once! #admin2b
  • McNulty1977 Dec 4 @ 8:20 PM EST
A3: A plan for long term support. One PD session is not enough. Teachers need to have support & training available as they experiment and grow with it too. #admin2b
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:20 PM EST
A3: Sometimes the best integration is when Ss model tools for their teacher and inspire new uses in the classroom. #admin2b
  • BryanMcDonaldPD Dec 4 @ 8:20 PM EST
A3: Go slow and support everyone. Not everyone is at the same place when using technology. #admin2b
  • BBaumeyer Dec 4 @ 8:20 PM EST
#admin2b A3: not everyone is as Gung-ho for Tech as I am. And that's okay. I think of the movie "What About Bob?" It takes Baby Steps, but there has to be intentionality and purpose behind each step
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:21 PM EST
    Question 4 coming in 1 minute! #admin2b
  • fordaka Dec 4 @ 8:21 PM EST
    #admin2b A3: Accessible and equity
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:22 PM EST
    Question 4: #admin2b
  • jodiepierpoint Dec 4 @ 8:23 PM EST
A4. Ask staff what they need and want. Important to survey needs of the building! #admin2b
  • mromero0717 Dec 4 @ 8:23 PM EST
A4: Don't be afraid to try something new, to fail, and to try again. #admin2b
  • MiriamCheuk - Moderator Dec 4 @ 8:23 PM EST
A4: Model & celebrate the use of technology in the school, communicate the expectation for technology integration...#admin2b
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:24 PM EST
A4: Work with all stakeholders to best understand the needs that they have and how tech will help leverage the learning. Making sure that everyone is heard ensures a stake in the game, and greater trust in the path forward. #admin2b
  • BrianDunleavy16 Dec 4 @ 8:24 PM EST
A4 Ask your teacher leaders in the school what tech they use already, you may have experts already in the room. They can help lead the PD. #admin2b
  • TBonhotel Dec 4 @ 8:24 PM EST
A4 Ask your Ts what they want, then differentiate your PD to address their wants. Be sure to share their accomplishments!#admin2b
  • jodiepierpoint Dec 4 @ 8:25 PM EST
YES!! Sharing accomplishments of others is HUGE! Even baby steps people take! #admin2b
    • TBonhotel Dec 4 @ 8:24 PM EST
A4 Ask your Ts what they want, then differentiate your PD to address their wants. Be sure to share their accomplishments!#admin2b
  • Teach_Learn88 Dec 4 @ 8:25 PM EST
A4) 1) Understand your audience and be patient! Knowing your audience will help with being patient because you know where they are technology wise. 2) Use your teacher leaders to help with implementation. Be strategic! #admin2b
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:27 PM EST
A4: There's a time and a place for high tech, low tech, or no tech, it's up to us as leaders to model that. #admin2b
  • MrRussoRH Dec 4 @ 8:28 PM EST
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:28 PM EST
And engage in the questions to identify it. #admin2b

Thanks for a great chat, #admin2b!
  • DrBody4Life Dec 4 @ 8:29 PM EST
A4: Take steps. You don’t have to go “digital” in one year. Piecemeal it. Make sure the technology your endorsing is teacher friendly and student relevant. If it helps teachers and students, who can be against it? #admin2b
  • AshleyTerryHPE Dec 4 @ 8:29 PM EST
A3:When leading PD for tech integration, go slow and give people lots of time to explore. The exploration is where the questions come out. #admin2b
  • BryanMcDonaldPD Dec 4 @ 8:30 PM EST
Another great chat. Thanks to everyone. @MiriamCheuk @MrRussoRH @GenieneD #admin2b

  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:31 PM EST
I would agree. I find myself continuously highlighting that in coaching conversations. #admin2b
    In reply to @TBonhotel
  • andreakornowski Dec 4 @ 8:32 PM EST
I find myself asking is it making it more efficient or putting learning in the hands of learners, if yes, then tech. #admin2b
    In reply to @TBonhotel
