Hey all Brian from VA here MS dean! One glow - this morning hearing our jazz band perform for the 8th grade in the gathering area and the kids being a wonderful audience and enjoying the music! #admin2b
Melissa from MO - HS English - Glow: Fall grad semester is over and I only have ONE semester until I graduate with my admin certificate and Ed Specialist! EEK! I can't wait! #admin2b
Joel Brown math teacher/dean of students from NC...one glow for this week is our school is in the beginning stages of intentionally implementing small group instructions in all core classes! #admin2b
A1) The best tech instructional practices include having students create there own works and being able reach outside of the classroom and even their normal environment. #admin2b
A1: tech that is used to augment a lesson, but not become it's focus. An application or tool that puts students in a position to leverage it in order to become more independent in their learning. #admin2b
A2: leaders need to allocate resources to Ts and Ss, be clear about the vision that is to be regarding tech AND learning, as well as giving Ts time to research, discuss, and share best practices. #admin2b
A2: Principals must be Technology leaders to establish the vision 4 technology in the classroom, providing PD, securing resources, showcasing technology during meetings. #admin2b
A1: Tech can not be used simply as a substitute for a lesson you already have. Tech should transform your lesson to better student understanding. #admin2b
A2 Lead by example! Also support the Ts extension into that realm, whether through more creative planning/lessons, PD time in and out of school hours/building , encouraging grants for more funding for tech needs. #admin2b
A2) Leaders guide the school to what is important. Leaders need to be the #1 cheerleaders. First by modeling usage, 2nd by giving time for PD and planning for teachers to use the tools, and 3rd by assisting teachers in the implementation by proving excellent feedback! #admin2b
A2: Capacity building for your teachers. When it comes to tech, sometimes we get inundated with strategies getting rammed down our throats. Build capacity over multiple PD for better integration. #admin2b
A2: Leaders must also help to identify the other parties that need support when it comes to technology, Ss, Ps, the community? and the approach in addressing this. #admin2b
A3: the purpose. Much of the learning that tech augments can be done WITHOUT tech. Therefore, what purpose does the tech play--is it substitution or extension of learning? Need to be clear! #admin2b
A3: Start by first identifying the content that you want to address, the method and instructional strategies, and finally identify the tool to support. #admin2b
A3: Test it out yourself. If you can’t see using it in your classroom, or it doesn’t fit a need for your building, it’s probably best to shift focus elsewhere #admin2b
A3) Look for tools that give you the most bang for your buck. What can be used in all classes that everyone can become experts on. The high flyers will go the extra mile but the nervous ones will be overwhelmed if given too many resources at once! #admin2b
A3: A plan for long term support. One PD session is not enough. Teachers need to have support & training available as they experiment and grow with it too. #admin2b
#admin2b A3: not everyone is as Gung-ho for Tech as I am. And that's okay. I think of the movie "What About Bob?" It takes Baby Steps, but there has to be intentionality and purpose behind each step
A4: Work with all stakeholders to best understand the needs that they have and how tech will help leverage the learning. Making sure that everyone is heard ensures a stake in the game, and greater trust in the path forward. #admin2b
A4) 1) Understand your audience and be patient! Knowing your audience will help with being patient because you know where they are technology wise. 2) Use your teacher leaders to help with implementation. Be strategic! #admin2b
A4: Take steps. You don’t have to go “digital” in one year. Piecemeal it. Make sure the technology your endorsing is teacher friendly and student relevant. If it helps teachers and students, who can be against it? #admin2b
