The #INeLearn hashtag is used for both asynchronous sharing and synchronous conversations. Include #INeLearn in your tweets if you want to share resources or questions with Indiana educators and school leaders. Asynchronously, the #INeLearn hashtag provides educators across the state of Indiana a central space for sharing. On Thursday evenings beginning at 8 CST/9 EST when you use the #INeLearn hashtag, you are joining a live conversation--the #INeLearn Twitter Chat. For one hour, we interact in real time having a virtual discussion.
So excited to chat with you tonight, @candicedodson! You are AWESOME at cultivating relationships. Can't wait to hear what you have to share! #INeLearn
Hi I’m Kevin from @LCHSBears. Made it through day 1. It was an awesome day. Can’t wait to meet my students in the rest of my classes tomorrow #INeLearn
Q1: It’s back to school time! What are some ways that you are using the new school year to reconnect with your Ts at the start of the school year (personally and professionally)? #INeLearn
R1: I learned so much over the summer using @CanvasLMS for our summer school and I’ve learned some quick ways to help out Ts with importing content into Canvas. It’s been great helping Ts be more confident using it. #INeLearn
Q1. I will spend time wandering the building and asking my colleagues what’s new and how their summers were. Even when I’m swamped I like to pop in and as if they need something copied or brought to the office. #INeLearn
A1: our LMS @itslearning looks different this year and has added features. Already getting emails for some help, can't wait to connect in person via some training/support. #INeLearn
Quick wins are SO important! I love @CanvasLMS and I'm glad that you are using it to connect with your teachers and help them get the year started on a positive note! #INeLearn
A1: We have had lots of great professional learning opportunities this summer thanks to @iStockTeach so it has been great to stay in touch with many #MishawakaWay educators all summer long, but I am really looking forward to having all of them back in a week. #INeLearn

It was using it from the administrative side instead of being on the teacher side. We had approximately 1500 students doing virtual summer school in @ltgoodnews. It kept me busy and made me learn some new tricks. #INeLearn
I LOVE this. Sometimes just being seen and available is key to building those positive relationships! It's definitely about the little things. #INeLearn
R2: I went around to each teacher in my department yesterday to address their tech needs. I didn’t leave their room until their issues were resolved. Did it take all day? Yep. Was it worth it? Yep. It helps the Ts and in turn helps each Ss they serve. #INeLearn
A2: Coming in prepared with tools I use in coaching, being realistic in how many meetings I can have in one day, shutting off the electronics. Also, making sure I have some reflection/office time within the day helps me stay more present, in the present. #INeLearn
R2. Sometimes it means sacrificing your own prep time to assist in new learning, watch a lesson and give feedback, or coteach. Also, connecting on a personal level, not just professional. #INeLearn
A2: The best way for me to stay present & focused on them is to be in their classrooms & their buildings. Whenever possible I like to get out of the ad center & be where the real action is. I love to get to see them doing what they do best, teaching & learning! #INeLearn
Really a big fan of the Blueprint option for pushing content to multiple teachers of same content. Helped out some math Ts with this option yesterday also. #INeLearn
I love that you describe the sacrifice. It really does take a servant's heart/attitude to be an ecoach....we have to put our Ts first sometimes. #INeLearn
Q3: We’ve all heard this expression: “They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” How can we show a genuine interest in our Ts (show we care)? #INeLearn
Shutting off the electronics is a must! One edtech coach at #iste18 challenged us to put our phones on airplane mode whenever we meet with teachers! #INeLearn
One of the most fulfilling things I’ve done as a teacher/coach is to go into others’ rooms and give feedback. Plus, I learned SO MUCH MORE outside my own room. #INeLearn

A4) The more "Seen" the Tchr is - Fligrid, SeeSaw, Video Messages, Remind 101, Zoom/Skype Chats etc...the more confortable Parents feel even if they can't "get in to the school." #gtchat
R3: sometimes it is easy to do some quick fixes for the Ts. Sometimes I will log in administratively and make the fix for them before I go to visit them. It’s easier and I don’t mind. #INeLearn
Feedback is one of the most powerful tools we have! Not only providing feedback but being willing to learn and grow from feedback given to you! #INeLearn Thanks @LetThemEatPaste for reminding us of the importance of feedback!

R3. Start with a hello. Remember a topic they’ve expressed interest in, know their spouse/child(ren)’s names, bring them a snack that they’ve said they love. #INeLearn
The blueprint allows you to create a “shell” course. The shell has multiple sections linked to it. I can add, change, delete content then sync the content to all of the sections (multiple teachers) in one push. #INeLearn
R3: greeting teachers...asking about things/people they are interested in. Sharing a resource with them that is aligned w a lesson they are planning. Chocolate. #INeLearn
YES! Personal connections are essential and remembering those details matter. I still struggle with remembering names, but I can remember everything about that person! #INeLearn
A3: High yield strategies apply to both Ss & Ts. Hattie tells us 1 of the lowest impact is content knowl, & relationships are near the very top of Hattie's list. If Ts don't trust you you it doesn't matter what you know. We are there to serve & support! #INeLearn

R4: I also find sharing that I don't have an answer or don't know something builds trust with teachers. They know I am being open but will also track down the answer to their question #INeLearn
Q5: Building strong relationships with Ts takes work! What are ways that you intentionally reach out to Ts, especially when they aren’t asking for help? #INeLearn
R4. Let them see your vulnerabilities. We all make mistakes, but being transparent about fixing them and changing is key. Once I discovered #growthmindset my entire approach to life and teaching changed. #INeLearn
A4: So true!!! The best way is to be genuine, sincere & humble. If Ts know that you truly support them & that you genuinely care about them this gives you the opening to build a relationship, which then leads to authentic shared experience, which creates trust. #INeLearn
It was....I think we just forgot the Q label. The Q was...Q4: Trust is a tricky thing to gain. Once lost it is nearly impossible to get back. How do you gain & maintain trust of Ts? #INeLearn
Sorry! We just forgot the Q4 label. Here was the question for Q4: Trust is a tricky thing to gain. Once lost it is nearly impossible to get back. How do you gain & maintain trust of Ts? #INeLearn
R4: I try to help out when I can. I do not know everything and sometimes I have to say, “I don’t know...” I then find out the answer and go back and help. Being honest helps a ton! #INeLearn
A5: Sometimes I try to notice something that's going well in their classrooms and want to learn more about. Then I can ask if I can learn from them! Or I've asked to collaborate as part of one of my professional goals. Takes pressure off them since it's my need. #INeLearn
R5. I love to do walkthroughs and leave a positive note. Often times the teacher will open a dialogue and become more comfortable sharing the good along with the struggles. #INeLearn
A5: Listen just listen! Sometimes when a teacher doesn't ask for help they want to be heard first. I practice just listening to them without intention of action. Eventually it almost always leads to a future collaboration! #INeLearn
Q5: Building strong relationships with Ts takes work! What are ways that you intentionally reach out to Ts, especially when they aren’t asking for help? #INeLearn
R5: I will sometimes go around during classes and check in with the Ts when Ss are present. See what they are doing. Ask how I can help them out in emails, etc. #INeLearn
R5: i'll never forget the librarian before me; she often varied her lunch time to accommodate the classes in the library, saw different Ts in the staff cafeteria. When she heard what projects and ideas were planned, she offered to help: meet them where they are. #INeLearn
Those positive notes are awesome! Not only do they build relationships and confidence. But name specifically what the teacher is doing! Opens the door to awesome conversations! #INeLearn
A5: I agree! I always intentionally try to learn something from each teacher I work with because honestly I do! I just need to name or point out what I learned from them. It helps build a learning community! #INeLearn

Q6: Who’s the smartest person in the room? The Room, of course! How can we get Ts to share the awesome things they are doing? In other words, how do we amplify their voice? #INeLearn
A6: Lots of options! Adults are just like kids, they need options to show what they know. Leading PD, leading a small group demo, instructional rounds, would love to hear other successful options for this! #INeLearn
R6: I find that I can get more Ts to share with each other after I first point out the awesome things they are doing in their classroom. So many times Ts are too modest and don't think what they are doing is worth sharing!
#INeLearn
Listening in a way that does not pass judgement is everything! When I was trained as a literacy coach, I was even taught not to nod my head too much bc if I didn't nod my head for some reason the teacher may think I was not agreeing with them! #INeLearn
R6. Point out what they do well. Connect it with initiatives the staff is working on and ask them to share or if you can share for them if they’re nervous. Also, let another colleague know and encourage them to pop in to their room. #INeLearn
R6: pineapple charts. Sometimes popping into a class, getting a great idea, sharing the idea or the person doing great things in a #PLC, dept meeting. #INeLearn
A5: Being present & visible. Many Ts don't reach out bc they don't want to be a bother. I don't ever want our Ts to feel like they are a bother or can't ask for help. I try to make it clear how much I enjoy that aspect of my job & that I want to help. #INeLearn.
Q5: Building strong relationships with Ts takes work! What are ways that you intentionally reach out to Ts, especially when they aren’t asking for help? #INeLearn
R6: we MUST do a better job of building teachers up. Recognizing their Rock Star status! Talk them into doing a brief “demo” after school in their room. Invite others. Have snacks. DemoDays. #inelearn
I love options! I find that I have to be really clear when providing options bc I have some teachers that try to do everything and that can be too much! I have to specifically say select the option that works best for you! #INeLearn
R6: Encourage them to present! I wonder how many different presenters there were at the summer of eLearning conferences.... I bet it there were more classroom Ts than ever this year. #INeLearn
Q7: What are some ways that you can use gratitude to build/strengthen your relationship with your Ts as the year progresses? How can you express your gratitude for your Ts as professionals? #INeLearn
The time is NOW to truly lift each other up no matter what positions you hold in your school! Know that #Youmatter & U play an important role in shaping the lives of our future #students#INeLearn
Modesty can be our own worst enemy! Sometimes I cover classes to allow other teachers to see other. One way to break down the barriers in sharing! #INeLearn
A6: #cultureshift We tackled it by celebrating our Ts as much as possible in every way possible @iStockTeach did a weekly spotlight, focused on celebrating Teaching & Learning, & we have traction now, so we hope to continue to grow this w peer to peer celebration. #INeLearn
Q6: Who’s the smartest person in the room? The Room, of course! How can we get Ts to share the awesome things they are doing? In other words, how do we amplify their voice? #INeLearn
R7. This goes along with walkthroughs. I have witnessed so many great ideas and I love the look on a Ts face when I go back to them and tell them how successful it was in my room or how much my Ss liked it. #INeLearn
R6: I have also found that shouting teachers out on social media makes a huge impact. Teachers need to be built up as @candicedodson reminds us! #INeLearn

Q7: What are some ways that you can use gratitude to build/strengthen your relationship with your Ts as the year progresses? How can you express your gratitude for your Ts as professionals? #INeLearn
Q8: My professional learning network (pln) is a network of powerful relationships that inspire, challenge, & help me grow. How do you encourage Ts to build their own pln? #INeLearn
A7: We try to make it clear every opportunity we get how grateful we are to our Ts & T leaders. We could never do it without them. They inspire & support us as much as we aspire to do the same for them. I hope they feel our genuine gratitude in addition to hearing it. #INeLearn
Q7: What are some ways that you can use gratitude to build/strengthen your relationship with your Ts as the year progresses? How can you express your gratitude for your Ts as professionals? #INeLearn
R7: I learn something new in a class, I take it back to my room and use. If it works great for me, I share with my dept and #PLC, and share where I received the strategy. #INeLearn
I share out with my #PLNs educators that are doing great things. I hope they will network and learn with each other. I like to pull in people from one #PLN into another. #INeLearn
R8. Take away the stigma of creating a way to share what you’re doing. It’s ok to put your classroom on social media. I’m hoping the the social media challenge we’re designing for the coming year will inspire teachers to hop on! #INeLearn
A6: That's easy, @iStockTeach either finds them on social media or encourages them to join, then shares with our PLN & we all follow & support the new person. I always say, nobody can hide from @iStockTeach! We also try & model & show the value of a PLN #INeLearn

RWU: I want to keep reaching out, building the relationships with Ts I work with throughout the year, add new tech tools to our learning throughout the year, and assist in using those tools in their classrooms. #INeLearn
RWU. I want to continue being genuinely vulnerable. I am not an expert. My Ts have so much more collectively to teach me than I have individually to teach them. #INeLearn
@tarheelbd & @iStockTeach have reminded me of the value of connecting with our Ts who are more comfortable on FB. I have moved away from FB, but I am going to go back to better connect with the ones who are Twitter leery. Good reminder. #INeLearn
Thank you all SO much for joining our #INeLearn chat tonight! As always, I had a great time and am walking away with several new ideas to try! A BIG shout out to my awesome co-host, @iStockTeach! Good night, everyone!
Positivity! We must always seek first to understand, thanks @tarheelbd#INeLearn .... And random question, is your child doing track with @MishawakaParks?
