Crazy. Is October in a school crazy for those in other cities too?!?!

crazy fun! Monday we are celebrating our patron's feast day with a teacher vs 8th grade volleyball game.

Only taught for three days this week, but finally made it to the American Revolution in junior US History!

We had a walkathon to raise funds for cancer, made goody packets for patients and had mass

I find it to be so. It is the "March" of the fall semester. Mid-way point so everyone is a little nutty.

cool, what were in the goody packets

funny! When I was in HS we never got past the Vietnam war.

yes! Homecoming, testing, crazy weather, weird schedules!

we just finished 1st quarter yesterday, but we have some craziness going on too! It has to be everywhere!

Good Morning I'm running the Baltimore marathon as a relay today and I'm the last leg so I'm excited to join in while I wait

Talking Catholic specific apps, I would say Laudate is my "go-to.

Ancient Egypt is a party. One of the stickiest units content wise. Kids won't forget, if you teach it well.

Good one! Have used this with 8th a time or two.

I was going to say that one too!

I use Laudate and iBreviary, almost everyday. Laudate is so comprehensive- and IBreviary is great for the readings.

 WOW! So impressed. Have fun.

iBreviary is good, though it seems to struggle in Android devices.

A1: Laudate --- prayer app

A1 Wish I had one! We don't really use them in my class. I hear Laudate is popular

A1: I'm still getting used to 5/6 so I'm not sure of Catholic apps! Really interested to hear! I'll be sure to add them!

I've tried several Saint of Day apps but haven't found one I like - Anyone have a suggestion?

A1 is my fav Catholic app.

A1: real life Catholic, Chris Stefanick videos

I'm gonna need to watch this!!! Thanks!!

Yeah, there is a difference. I switched from apple to android a year ago. Apple apps generally higher qual.

mobile ive always been iPhone, but im not surprised about glitches-

Busted Halo has an app??! I thought they were just a channel.

There is a Saints 4 Kids app that I have used and love

ok! Now that is the winner of the most unique place for a tweeter to tweet from.

Have not... Will check it out!

Hey all, if you don't follow yet, please do! He shares great tips and ideas. Super blog too.

A:2 lexio-text using w my spiritual director everyday readings for the day

I like too I don’t use it daily but at least several times per week

I used voxer for a while, but I think the groups I was in were too big - need to try again

Agreed! Twitter and Voxer have expanded my learning so much. Can't imagine educating w/out them.

I didn't even know there was a questions feature?! Can kids input answers from their devices?

We are trying it across archdiocesan schools to collaborate in STEM Expo learning and preparation

I'll have to check that out!

I may use that for portfolios this year. Still deciding.

. don't you feel like the most popular teacher of all time when you break out the Kahoot?

Hi all. Heading to work on finances today. Subbed yesterday. Had a great time with 6th grade science https://t.co/xpj48tC3Z8

Never heard of that one. I use Canva a lot.

Use Diptic and for my posts for

I use it to help run and it is awesome

don't you? Its funny-istarted only for review, now mix-in w/ lessons bc engagement went through roof.

Love . When I am observing Ts and they have it going, I jump in too. Hilarious!

looks like I'll have to play around with it. The new auto reconfigure display feature is awesome.

Good morning ! Jumping in late on a busy, beautiful fall Saturday!

so hard to keep up with all tweets lets the cream rise to the top. Crowd sourcing at it's best.

Ooh. Is it an open group? That sounds like a great one to join.

One of our schools started using it to share work as blog in technology/makerspace

I will have to check that out.

A2. GAFE apps, Notability, Phonto, Paper 53

yes, but not consistently. Want to find a way to keep myself accountable

It is! I will look up the join form - you can fill it out and Jennifer will add you.

I check it first thing in the morning and it tells me what I missed in yesterday's tweets.

proves that Catholic pedagogy isn't as [ahem] uniform as you might think.

that may be the winning solution. Also might be a reminder for me to turn my phone off too and wind down...

So true! Cath. Edu. is not a monolith. We're super decentralized.

BB1: Halloween is on a Monday this year. Teacher's dream or Teacher's nightmare?

one more reason to love Catholic schools.

I prefer Noteshelf to Paper 53. Can you share your pros for Paper 53?

Need to brag a little-our football team won again 56-14. We are unbelievable this year!

I think my computer has taken a BB! Got kicked out.

BB1 Its not Monday I worry about... its Tuesday... All Saints is gonna be penitential this year!

  Best drawing app! Love it!

made with studio looks awesome! Could be useful for class emails as well

BB1: nightmare, for sure! Student opinion too (at least my 10 yo student's opinion)!

you got that! Lots of stomach aches at All Saint Mass!

BB1 - Parent nightmare - teacher - not so sure! Can be good or bad depending on what is allowed at school

I’ve never seen a chat Brain Break before. Neat idea!

BB1 Nightmare. Not my favorite holiday anyway.

BB1-Nightmare- ive never been huge halloween person, though- Christmas is another story.

bb1 cont. for my 8th graders, Halloween is angsty: are they too old to T&T? Costumes too childish? MS is hard. ;-)

BB1: doesn't bug me! I enjoy seeing Ss excited, so I'll just go with it and have fun! Ss need those days!

Really?? What year haven't you been unbelievable? We dreaded Mater Dei back when I was in HS! ;-)

it's fun! Last chat I did, the Brain Break was about Pumpkin Spice! Got the idea from

Bb1: another way to connect with Ss. a little crazy management wise, but hopefully the weekend gets it out of Ss systems.

Remember to check what Clinron campaign was saying about Catholics

I'm thinking of bringing in donuts that Monday to kick off Q2 and celebrate a great Q1.

Back to questions in a minute!

BB1 we will have "pyjama day" on Tuesday! Need to be extra vigilant because kids often bring treats & I have ss w/allergies

  there's an idea...like that alot.

True, but our QB is only a sophomore and threw for over 400 yards last night!

I am with you Christine It is my LEAST favorite holiday all the way around.

I'll have to sneak in some kind of treat...school is strict with foods, but kids deserve it!

BB1: it's good as long as there are guidelines and you have a lesson prepared. I do a history of halloween & All Souls' Day

Treats don't have to be food-- is there an activity or game you could sub in?

I think Donuts might be the move that day...

Good morning having a great Google Boot Camp session at Archbishop Wood.

   NICE! Have a great session.

send them up here, even the adults trick or treat, luckily the adult "celebration" is scheduled for Saturday

Great intro to saints unit I do.

Have to check out early! Taking the kiddos to a fall fest! Will check the archives later. Thanks for all the inspiration!

there are a lot of things I can do or bring! I just really like donuts!!

Nice! Last year I dressed as a normal teacher for H-ween. First time in shirt and tie in 7 years!

Not just a drawing app. Lot's of paper choices and writing choices. Works w/several stylus'.

A3: What apps would you recommend for HS students?

AMEN! We have a great donut place in town. I rarely do things like this, so its a big treat.

Need to download that! Really, I so many apps!

I love Halloween but it should always be the 4th Saturday of October.

Nice to meet another Nebraskan. Saw you knew Card-Elect +Cupich. Went to Catholic Ryan High with my mom. :-)

a3 G. Classroom, and whole suite (Docs, Drive, Slides, Sheets...)

Too bad it's expensive. Paper is free.

A3: all my Ss are encouraged to have , we used for a project... used intermittently

A3: depends on the subject for specialized apps but overall, organization and productivity apps are what they need and use.

Omaha is so proud of him!

is a great tool. Need to find ways to use that one more often.

is great! I forget to use it.

I would definitely recommend google suite and classroom. It's so efficient and easy to use

any in particular that you've found useful for both yourself and your Ss?

My students are quickly becoming very familiar with classroom-

VERY YES! I was gonna do standard glazed donuts, but that just won't do now.

A3 Google apps. Keynote and Pages. Explain Everything and Notability

Agree! It's one of my favorites but weekdays tend to kill the celebration. https://t.co/e2euUrsPjn

I love Halloween but it should always be the 4th Saturday of October.

used it for a timeline project and a digital brochure project.

I was one of the 350! So interesting to see the results.

A3 Anything and a good Bible app that they can use.

I use padlet for exit tickets and reflections.

there are definitely other uses for it ... need to keep on experimenting.

 My students love PicCollage.

A3: Ss need apps that Ts show how to use and are excited about! Ss need to be familiar with the apps and know the purpose.

A3) If schools are GAfE all those apps. Wish we were at might have more suggestions!

I find Google Keep a must, SM apps, Evernote, are favs

Seesaw was by far the top mention. No surprise there, as teachers really do ❤️ it.

I'm making sure I have this archive for next week! :)

I've implemented google forms for girls to track their service hours

I've never heard of edpuzzle. What's the gist of it?

It is definitely expensive. But I use it daily and have for two years

A3) can be a great way to involve students in a gaming way

Wow! What a list! Muchas gracias!

I have been letting my Ss pick the app they use for a project. WOW! Results are amazing.

really? I'd love to learn more about how you do that!

great idea! I wonder if I could get my ss to move that way? Admin wants adult sig. How do you verify horus?

I am just setthing that up for my school - using forms & docappender to create individual reports for students

we self report for in school and get verification for out of school - using forms to consolidate

This is amazing! Thanks for sharing this!!

definitely will be doing more of that!

Joining late, will try to follow.

I want to do this more often, but my ss don't yet have a lot of exp. w diff. apps.

does it work as an interactive gallery walk?

Absolutely! And I nave no need for yellow legal pads anymore.

   Ginger, you are the best!

I love the idea behind that chart. It's full of great alternatives! Thanks for sharing!

Use any video, edit it, add questions, and use it as a formative for your Ss. My Ts really like it.

My pastor told me about it.

Q4: What apps would you recommend for elementary students?

Yeah! Its hard to keep up to date. Apps, sites, always developing.

nice. Thanks for the Rec. I'm going to give it a shot this week.

I thought that too-they help each other and learn very quickly. Then they teach me!

I think a prof dev day with Ss would be interesting. Ss can show us what they already know and use new tech ideas with them.

is a fantastic tool. Actually have a former S who works for them

A4: and are big with my students

This is a cool idea! I might devote some of our tech times to such a goal.

A4: hard not to say again ... something about having it right in front of them keeps them engaged.

like this idea- now to figure out a way to integrate it.

A4 Explain Everything and Book Creator were my go-to's.

we use an honor system. Most students use the same location all 4 yrs & we provide opportunities in school

The collaboration and geo-location features are fantastic!

I love the approach. Definitely something I want to do.

could preface it with a google forms survey too...

A4: released a game yesterday!

    I know loves Spelling City.

Gotchya. That was kind of what I thought. I think that would work for my ss as well (and get rid of paper work!)

A4: When I'm doing observations and Ts are using Padlet or Kahoot there is always great energy.

I was just about to ask if anyone has tried

A4: from my kiddo: , Google Apps, Google Classroom, Quizzlet

If you start creating it's very simple.

it is so good to get rid of all the paper!

I like possibilities w/ book creator. I do a PBL around creating a children's book about a history topic.

is definitely awesome. I even had my School Board do one. They loved it. https://t.co/TqjM71itRx

A4: released a game yesterday!

No excuses w/ a Form. No more lost service hour sheet!

that's my session topic for with

A4) Elementary: plain old camera app for scavenger hunts/show what you know

So many great ideas for elementary! I'll be adding these to my list!!
