Welcome to #G2Great I am going to be a little crazy tonight! I am going back and forth from #ILAchat and #G2Great we have such amazing topics so my little fingers will just have to type faster. LEADERSHIP matters. @DayOneDrew#G2Great
Welcome #G2Great friends. We are so happy that you are joining us tonight to talk about this important topic. Every teacher deserves to reside within a CULTURE of teacher leadership!
@franmcveigh@hayhurst3@brennanamy
A4: #G2Great If our goal is to TRULY create life-long readers during independent reading, shouldn't we make sure the materials we offer directly relate to the lives of the children we are trying to influence? Windows, mirrors, and sliding doors might be the MOST IMPORTANT pieces.
Q4: Student choice is important for a successful #independentreading program. As educators, librarians, and peers help students choose books, what role does the equity work around windows, mirrors, and sliding doors play in the process? #ILAchat
A1 team leads comes to mind, perfect way to elevate one member of a team to develop and encourage their skills. Could rotate in order to best build capacity. Coaching/TL model also works, separate the job so it can be done all day on a larger scale. #G2Great
A1 We can begin by engaging in collective conversations to really explore the strengths and passions each teacher brings to the leadership table. #G2Great
A2: Conversation starters or directors. Sometimes it's important to just listen and sometimes it's better to steer a conversation toward reflection and growth if it's spiraling elsewhere. #G2great
#G2Great#LitBankStreet
A1: Getting to know the whole teacher the way we should be getting to know the whole student. Seeking to bring teachers and people from communities of active passion
A1: I think it depends on the school but there are lots of opportunities to lead in every school I've ever worked in. Important to create an environment where Ts feel confident enough to do so! #G2Great
A1: TL=inquiry igniters, student-centered advocates, growth mindset motivators, leaders by example, joyful, resilient, persistent in the pursuit of the whole child’s growth & development #G2Great
A1 we are piloting learning labs with our target leaders as first hosts. Prior to that they were the first to participate in walkthroughs to identify and monitor school goals. Now the whole staff is getting the chance. #g2great
A1 Teachers can be mentors, coaches, organize professional learning, lead book studies, advocate for students. Great principals encourage teacher leadership. #g2great
A1 We can begin by engaging in collective conversations to really explore the strengths and passions each teacher brings to the leadership table. #G2Great
A1 The foundation is to have models for strong buildings leaders (principal, coach etc) These models give them a vision for what real leadership looks like (or doesn’t) so we have to make that a priority. #G2Great
I see a lot of titles being bandied about. Leadership isn't a title. It's a mindset. What you do, what you believe, what you cultivate around you, how you show & share your passions & talents makes you a leader, no matter the title. #lookwithin#G2great
Hello #ILAchat & #G2Great friends. I just arrived at Atlanta airport & next flight boarding soon. Sorry I”m mostly ROBO Pretweet Mary tonight but will divide my little time left between both flights & then return to Robo Pretweet Mary. So grateful for you BOTH!
A1 In Reading Recovery we spent 2 weeks “Roaming in the Known” to get to know students FIRST. This allows us to respond to important questions: Who are our kids as learners & humans? Where do we begin? #G2Great
A1: Teacher leaders can set the example that as teachers, we are never done growing and learning; there are always better, more efficient and more creative ways to engage with our students #G2Great#litBankstreet
A1: T leaders are constantly stay on the cutting edge of best practices. They are sharing their learning both formally & informally. Sharing a resource, an article; every conversation I have is an opportunity to learn from someone or have someone learn from me! #G2Great
A1: #G2Great I think the term leadership is evolving. Schools are beginning to take advantage of the knowledge base that is gained from application via teacher-led conference sessions, teacher-led PLCs and teacher-led PD.
I agree Susie! Often, this is a person who poses the question "What if we..." or "What would happen if..." and others join the learning journey. #G2Great
A 2 Find wats to give teacher leaders time and support. To mentor and coach might mean half-time teaching. Principal let’s teacher leaders know they’re valued & appreciated. #g2great
Good point Karl. It is a mindset and it’s one that ANYONE can embrace release into the world. Too many teachers feel helpless when the last thing is true if we’re willing to do what it takes to LIVE that mindset #G2great
I see a lot of titles being bandied about. Leadership isn't a title. It's a mindset. What you do, what you believe, what you cultivate around you, how you show & share your passions & talents makes you a leader, no matter the title. #lookwithin#G2great
A1: T leaders are constantly staying on the cutting edge of best practices. They are sharing their learning both formally & informally. Sharing a resource, an article; every conversation I have is an opportunity to learn from someone or have someone learn from me! #G2Great
A2 We value teacher when we open our hearts/minds to the wisdom they have to share & acknowledge that where they are may be a stepping stone to creating a culture of schoolwide leadership! #G2Great
A2 we need to value the role, truly VALUE it, don’t just say it, do something to show TLs that you care about their importance and work in the role. Value by developing their skills. Recruit by finding those teachers who are doing amazing things and are positive forces. #G2Great
A2 We encourage leadership engagement by rewarding free critical thinking and honor a plurality of thought. We support current leaders & join forces w/other Ts who are will step into the role. Honor strengths and build people up. #G2Great
A2. We have to support & protect
Teacher Leaders. What role do they want? Help with that picture. Follow Teacher - Leader invitation. Not just pseudo-admin. Not just discipline. Soul-filling leadership that elevates students is key!
#g2great#leadership
A2: I believe all teachers are leaders, especially when they are thinking partners to others. Everyone needs and deserves a thinking partner—and we need people for different reasons/purposes! For more, check this out https://t.co/rq4wLvfng0#G2Great
A2: Opportunity. For myself I love getting the opportunity to run with the ball on things and feel that the work I am doing is being recognized when these opportunities come up #G2great
A2: #G2Great The quick answer is by promoting growth mindsets. This should lead to continuous self-reflection. Unfortunately, in the age of performance based pay&teacher evaluations, Ts feel much more comfortable maintaining status quo. It's hard to lead from status quo.
A2 We need to connect with each other personally, fact to face. Share what we see in each other. We all come with gifts to share--encourage each other to share. #G2Great
YES Lauren. We can’t have it both ways: say we want to assume a leadership role but refuse to do the hard work. If we aren’t willing to do that or insist on using flawed practices rather than using the research to guide the way - we’re kidding ourselves #G2great
We’re an independent school. #g2great In kinder through 3rd, Teachers teach all subjects. 4th through 6th departmentalized (more or less). Early childhood as well has 3 teachers. 2 lead and 1 associate
A2 show value in their contributions as learners. Shout out until they see in themselves what you see in them. Just like we want for students, we should do for Ts. #g2great
A2 It’s critical to nurture teachers who use professional reflection at any level. We LOOK FOR evidence of this process, celebrate it and work to bring it to life on a day to day spirit of COLLECTIVE REFLECTION. #G2Great
A2 Creating spaces where teachers feel comfortable sharing their learning and their questions with others. Dedicating time to learning from one another. Creating a culture where the learning the adults in the building do is in the service of serving students. #G2Great
A2: I am loving that the DOE in NYC & many districts around LI are investing in job-embedded professional learning. By creating these positions, districts are investing in meaningful, sustainable PD with people that are committed to their practice and school community. #G2Great
A2: admins (and other leaders) are wise to tap blossoming teacher leaders on the shoulder and to encourage them to grow in their leadership—which can take MANY different forms. I would not have stepped into leadership without this kind of push. #G2Great
@DrMaryHoward totally agree - there needs to be a way to blend research and practice and utilize a lot of trial and error to create great teacher leaders #G2Great#LitBankStreet
YES Lauren. We can’t have it both ways: say we want to assume a leadership role but refuse to do the hard work. If we aren’t willing to do that or insist on using flawed practices rather than using the research to guide the way - we’re kidding ourselves #G2great
A2: Teacher leaders have more impact than anyone in a school. We need to nurture and support them and their growth! They are culture changers. #G2Great#ILAChat
#G2Great#LitBankStreet
so many ways to show value for those that embody teaching leadership - we can recruit teachers into these roles by protecting time and resources and autonomy to take risks within the workspace, without expecting instant change. Progress is a process.
A2: This is such a great question and I struggle with this. It seems to be so difficult for reflective teachers, who try to lead, to do so without it feeling competitive. #G2great
A2 Our conversations will have to change in schools to create a collective spirit of reflective practices we need. If dictates & mandates lead the way, we can’t expect that to happen. The reality in which reside celebrates or demeans this process. #G2Great
Of course we can and we SHOULD. But we also have to make sure that parents are supporting those efforts and following through out home. MANY will but not all! #G2great It’s not just ACCESS but also time and opportunity
A2. We must think about TL's as a resource: the materials they share & the change that create along w/ strategies they provide for all. We want to recruit T's that will provoke growth across the school climate
#LitBankStreet#G2Great#TouchPoint
To recruit these Ts into leadership roles, you have to intentional LOOK for those talents. That means taking time out of an ofc to visit rooms and have formal & informal discussions w/ Ts. Finding a match to talents requires knowing those talents exist.
#G2great
A3. Set up open communication:
Voxer, Flipgrid, Google docs.
Move paper work to memos so Teacher Leaders can have F2F time with peers, build relationships, and cement learning!
#g2great#leadership
A2. Encouraging teachers to take opportunities to challenge themselves in areas that is outside their comfort zone. Teachers who want to learn #GrowthMindset value learning from each other. A safe place for kids, is also a safe place for adults #G2Great
A3: Ask Ts and TL how they will be most efficient & effective in working together. When? Where? How? How often? What do you need to support your work? Choice provides opportunities to match needs, style, & time. #G2Great
A3 give time for collaborative team meetings with loose but some guidelines. Give them the respect they deserve to put their heads together. Innovative things come from strong teacher minds working together! #G2Great
A3 We can offer CHOICE in the professional learning mix so that teachers can follow their passions. We know how important this is for our children but it’s equally important for our teachers! #G2Great
A3 #G2Great I think leadership is really a wheel. Structures to embrace it have to start from the faculty. Small important moves that boost confidence & intentional work they care about. Leaders can be empathic and and supportive.
And it works both ways. WE have to know our talents exists and others need to know they exist. This two way belief system is so important. Sometime that means NOTICING what we didn’t even know #G2Great
To recruit these Ts into leadership roles, you have to intentional LOOK for those talents. That means taking time out of an ofc to visit rooms and have formal & informal discussions w/ Ts. Finding a match to talents requires knowing those talents exist.
#G2great
A3: #G2Great I think it’s beginning to happen in some districts! Admin should, and in some cases are, noticing strengths within buildings and systems and are taking advantage of these strengths by setting up teacher-lead PD and PLCs. We are off to a great start!
A2. Sometimes what we think we see coupled with what we hear misinforms us. We all have some leadership in us; nature of the job. Looking for that in each other is the prize.
#G2great
I agree. Teachers leaders lead through influence and are most often highly intuitive! They also have a unique lens of the buildings and districts they work in! #G2Great
A3 I think the PLC format is one of the best ways for teacher leaders to share with each other. I'm consulting in a district where PLCs are well established. It's interesting to see how grade levels or vertical teams come together to celebrate and problem solve. #G2Great
A3: I cannot wait to see the answers for this! I am thinking of ways to remove the classroom walls, open doors, creating locations in buildings where people can share. Creating time for PLCs. #G2Great#ILAchat
A 3 Common planning times and meeting times 3 to 4 times a week. Teachers need time for conversations, gathering feedback to help them, sharing read aloud texts they love. #g2great
Schools or DA's can
help their TL's by sharing instructional resources. Also showing how to use the curriculum in planning instruction & assessment is essential to TL's success
#LitBankStreet#G2Great
A3 We can invite more open ended flexible and RESPECTFUL conversations to the table. We replace TELLING by passion-fueled exploratory collegial dialogue so that we can lift up very wise schoolwide professional voices! #G2Great
5-minute turn-keys at a faculty meeting showcasing a talent in lesson delivery, effective questioning, assessment design, etc. is a great way to recognize skill and build leadership within staff.
#G2great
A3. Set up open communication:
Voxer, Flipgrid, Google docs.
Move paper work to memos so Teacher Leaders can have F2F time with peers, build relationships, and cement learning!
#g2great#leadership
A3 We use twitter, blogging, padlet, wakelet, and voxer to connect teachers with one another and share resources when meeting face-to-face is not possible. #G2Great
Collaboration is crucial Laura. And not the kind that’s just about designating the next page in a lesson plan book. REAL conversations about what we know about literacy AND kids and decisions that will support BOTH (and hello friend) #G2great
A 3 Common planning times and meeting times 3 to 4 times a week. Teachers need time for conversations, gathering feedback to help them, sharing read aloud texts they love. #g2great

I agree. Teacher leaders lead through influence and are most often highly intuitive! They also have a unique lens of the buildings and districts they work in! #G2Great
A3 A small group of us have been discussing how to move our district PDs to an edcamp model. We have also used our online comm (Dojo, Blooms) to spotlight the awesomeness in our school #G2Great
A3 Helping to facilitate PLCs as outside consultant, I'm learning that the grade level team sets the agenda. At the close of each PLC mtg, they discuss what they'd like to address in the coming PLC. They go away and research, gather data, read. Then come back and repeat #G2Great
A3 embed these opportunities in the work they do with students. Learning labs and walkthroughs. FT sub + 1 coach covers a class = 1 coach + 1 admin + 2 teachers engage in walkthrus. Weekly. #g2great
A3 A key is building strong relationships. This idea could be used with coaches as well as teachers (with either a focus on colleagues or student) Focusing on colleagues would help with staff relationships. https://t.co/4OSX0xiuxI#G2Great
Love the digital spaces for collaboration. So smart. Curate them and make a portfolio of shared goal/decision making this would help to cull out leadership moves! #g2great
A3 ALL schools need an excellent coach to promote professional learning while giving teachers a model for what leadership looks like, sounds like – and FEELS like (positive + supportive). #G2Great
VERY AGREE! We talk a lot - as a building - about telling our school story. ("If you aren't telling it, who is?") But we have to promote ourselves, AND we have to promote colleagues we see doing it at a high level!
#G2great
Love seeing this. The more often the better b/c then it isn't a showcase on one, it's just part of the time set aside. EVERYONE has something and finding time for them to share and show it makes the sharing and showing feel less like bravery. #G2great

A3 I agree. Time to meet and learn together. Share what’s happening, Reflect and feedback. Admin needs to prioritize what they need from teachers. Too many add ones burdens everyone. #g2great
A 3 Common planning times and meeting times 3 to 4 times a week. Teachers need time for conversations, gathering feedback to help them, sharing read aloud texts they love. #g2great
@vrkimmel#g2great A3: I agree. I also agree that in most cases, this is happening. However, your tweet just spurred a thought. How many PLCs are true PLCs?The term(acronym) is used in so many ways. Sometimes, in ways not true to the original thought of the theory of true PLC.🙄
A3 I think the PLC format is one of the best ways for teacher leaders to share with each other. I'm consulting in a district where PLCs are well established. It's interesting to see how grade levels or vertical teams come together to celebrate and problem solve. #G2Great
Okay #G2great friends. Back to ROBO PREtweet Mary. Boarding my second flight. The airlines just doesn’t seem to know how much I love to chat but missing my flight isn’t much of an alternative. I’ll check in when wifi kicks in and post wakelet later.
A4 This is what brought me to @Twitter I wanted to extend my professional learning and learn w/others who are helping me become a better leader. It's a process. Everything turns up in my practice bc I am a learner. #G2Great
Big warm thanks to #ILAchat for inviting me to be part of this discussion about IR you are making an impact! #G2Great Ty to all the great Ts I learn so much from all of you. Your words will follow me into the classroom!
A4 We have to be willing to create a respectful culture for leadership before we can move forward. You can’t do this important work if our teachers don’t feel safe in their own environment and know that their perspective will be valued. #G2Great
A4. Be humble.
Invite others to join.
Invite others to share.
Be visible.
Open door.
Be patient.
Share (twitter/blog/Voxer)
Open to conversations.
#g2great#leadership
A4: We have to live it. I put my learning on display. I don't hide my beliefs. This might come as a surprise but I tend to be pretty loud about what I believe and I always invite others to the party.
#G2great
This is so important in creating a culture! Lead by example and demonstrate leadership! Teacher leaders have an impact when they lead this way! #G2Great#ILAchat
A4 We have to be willing to create a respectful culture for leadership before we can move forward. You can’t do this important work if our teachers don’t feel safe in their own environment and know that their perspective will be valued. #G2Great
Fran, you hit my FAVORITE word in education: INVITE.
Invite people to share an experience, to share a talent, to share their best parts, and we ALL get lifted.
#G2great
A4: A big part of having an impact on Ss and Ts as a T leader is developing trust & positive relationships. Being an effective listener, communicator, and having a high emotional intelligence will in turn have an impact on culture, Ss, & Ts. #G2great
A4 Once we’ve built a foundation of respect, then we invite teachers to generate questions they are eager to explore. This will promote a collective spirit of curiosity inspired professionals that fuels new understandings! #G2Great
A4 I truly believe coaches and school leaders also need to have a coach of their own. This sheds light on the coaching/reflecting process. Everyone deserves a coach. #G2Great
A4: We have to live it. I put my learning on display. I don't hide my beliefs. This might come as a surprise but I tend to be pretty loud about what I believe and I always invite others to the party.
#G2great
A4 A culture of collective professional responsibility won’t happen overnight. It’s not about scheduling a PD but creating an invisible thread that views each teacher as key contributors of the leadership process who are valued. #G2Great
A4 This is a tough one. I think there are some who have the natural aptitude for continual growth. I worry that others see teaching as a job. The solution, I believe, is to challenge teachers to do the hard work of aligning curriculum, assessment and instruction. 1/2 #G2Great
A4: Starting with a collaborative and curious mindset helps.
Genuine curiosity for students and learning. Opening your door helps, teaching is a team sport!
#G2Great
A4 We feel so comfortable empowering our students to use their voice. When we as adults use ours, we worry how we will sound. Is it bragging, is it tooting our horn? Once we acknowledge that we want to learn and part of that is reflecting, sharing and asking questions. #g2great
A5 TLs have to be lead learners, they have to be thirsty for more. They cannot be complacent or live in the past. TLs need to be on the cutting edge of everything in education. This will make others thirsty for learning as well! #G2Great LEAD BY EXAMPLE!
A5 #G2Great Learning and teaching are reciprocal. One feeds the other. I live the life of a learner & that makes me authentic. It makes me relatable to my Ss. I am curious, & unafraid to make my mistakes visible. It's about practice not perfection. #G2Great
A5. I believe it is imperative for Teacher Leaders to be readers.
Broad background.
Have curiosity.
Exhibit willingness to learn more.
Being the "lead learner" is fun but challenging!
#g2great#leadership
A5 To nurture “master learners” we start by inspiring then. Until teachers recognize the power of their own knowledge and embrace a learner mindset, becoming a master teacher will be a pipedream at best. #G2Great
A4 2/2 Only then can we hope for positive change in student learning which leads to teacher buy-in. Buy-in rarely come up front. There must be implementation first, see results, then buy-in. #G2Great
A5: an important part of collaborative leadership develops from someone who is equally comfortable modeling their mistakes as they are with their triumphs.
#G2Great#LitBankStreet
A4 I’m from Iowa. I useThe Field of Dreams in workshops. W/ teacher leadership it isn’t about “build it & they will come”. Rather it is “build it together & they will stay.” Teachers MUST be part of the process. Their voice matters. We can’t build behind closed doors. #G2Great
A5: Master teacher & master learner behaviors/actions show up when we STUDY KIDDOS in order to figure out what they need and what we should do next. #G2Great
@vrkimmel#g2great A3: I agree.
#G2Great
A5: #G2Great There are a ton of clichés we could use here: “life-long learners”, “if you aren’t learning, you’re dying”, “you are never too old to learn”, etc. Bottom line-Every good teacher actually LOVES TO LEARN. Those learners, they should be our leaders.
A5: Willingness to acknowledge their own places for growth teacher leaders can begin to make genuine room for those who they work with to partake in a collaborative process for growth.
#G2Great#LitBankStreet
A5: an important part of collaborative leadership develops from someone who is equally comfortable modeling their mistakes as they are with their triumphs.
#G2Great#LitBankStreet
A5: As a teacher leader you need to be willing to constantly learn and grow, being vulnerable and able to take risks for the betterment of yourself and students #G2Great#LitBankStreet
A5: Always learning, through things like Twitter or PD or further our education or taking a craft class. Whatever it might be if we want to be leaders we need to be lead learners. #G2great
A5: Master Ts are always looking for ways to perfect their craft. The field of education is ever-changing, and TLs stay on top of the latest philosophies and innovations so they can both hone their own skills and support other Ts' profess. development. #G2great#LitBankStreet
A5 Being a master learner fuels our role as master teacher because it gives us the understandings that will enable this process. Growing professional knowledge across the entire building is our ultimate goal and so we respect this process! #G2Great
A5 Being a teacher leader is impossible with flawed thinking. We have to make professional learning a priority and then give teachers the confidence and support to become a leader. Our learning isn’t options but we can nurture it! #G2Great
Master teachers are always seeking to elevate their game. New tools, new ideas, new options come from new learning, taking old ideas in new directions, repurposing old ways into something fresh & engaging. That goes for content as well as pedagogical methods
#G2great
A5 Humility is so important. No one has all of the answers. The more open we are, the more we can keep learning. Learning to say I am not sure or I need to learn more is such an act of courage and humility. #g2great
In reply to
@DrMaryHoward, @franmcveigh, @hayhurst3, @brennanamy
A5 Any professional in any field knows that to stay at the top of your game, you are always learning. Teachers above all others should constantly be looking at ways to become even more accomplished as learners. #G2Great
A5: Master teacher & master learner behaviors/actions show up when we DESIGN learning opportunities w/Ss curiosities, passions, interests & needs in mind. #G2Great
A5 If we are going to truly establish cultures of learning, we must always be curious learners and not only make our learning visible to others but invite them to join us. #G2Great
A5: Recognizing that learning is forever. Never think that one is done learning no matter how many years you have been teaching. This helps create the teacher leader. #LitBankStreet#G2Great
A5. Continued learning is important. Using new tools is important. But creating something from what is learned is the elevated art of the Master Teacher. Just as we teach our kids DOK, we must practice the same in our professional lives.
#G2great
A5: I always say the title "master teacher" should change to "reflective teacher", but I love this idea from Couros! You have to be a learner to be a teacher. If you are a master learner you will find a way to teach a novice learner. #G2Great#ILAchat@gcouros
A6 TLs have to be the people that others are following anyways. Find those teachers in buildings that are friends with many, the ones who other’s go to when they need someone to talk to, someone to cry on, someone to help. THOSE are your TLs. #G2Great
A5 I could never separate master teacher from master learner. They come as a package. When one feels that’s it for the learning, one needs to step aside. #g2great
A6 Everything impacts everything. If the person in a hiring position doesn’t know literacy, then we set up roadblocks to teachers who would otherwise grow into their own leadership role with support. People matter so we start there! #G2Great
A6. Let Teacher leaders volunteer.
Rotate after certain period of time.
Don't make it a life time appointment.
Have a mini-interview.
"Why do you want to be a Teacher Leader? What is in it for you?"
#g2great#leadership
A good TL always strikes me as among the most empathetic. TLs reach you where you are - often in your frustration, but don't let you linger. They give you a kickstart to finding your own way out. They give options and perspective to consider, but not answers.
#G2great
A6: I think TL are people that will do it alone but hopefully wont have to. One thing though is they don't do it for the praise. They do it because they have a vision of success for the school. That vision draws like minds like a moth to flame. #G2great
Such a great reflective question. We can also see challenges through a the lens of "What's the opportunity here?" and reframe them as learning opportunities instead of roadblocks. #G2Great
A6: Leadership requires;
-deploying empathy
-leading with curiosity
-comfort with vulnerability
-commitment to development
-learning
-clear vision and core beliefs
-establishing your 'WHY'
-high EQ
#G2Great
A6 You CAN teach knowledge but you CAN’T teach personality. The best teacher leaders are kind, supportive, & know how to share information in gentle ways. Emotions matter so teacher leaders must have those qualities! #G2Great

#g2great#leadership
"Leading with curiosity" is such a powerful statement! Be willing and ready to engage enthusiastically. Ask Qs, ponder problems, actions, and solutions. Show a thirst for knowledge relative to instruction and Ss learning. #g2great
A6 An effective teacher leader can make or break the entire culture of a building SINCE they can create a safe environment for learning or turn it into one that feels threatening to the point that learning can’t happen. HIRE WELL! #G2Great
A6 You CAN teach knowledge but you CAN’T teach personality. The best teacher leaders are kind, supportive, & know how to share information in gentle ways. Emotions matter so teacher leaders must have those qualities! #G2Great
I'm fried after a long short week, #G2great. @DrMaryHoward - Hope your travels were safe. Thanks for the great questions. Thank you, all, for the awesome discussion.
Have a great weekend :)
A7 @LucyCalkins said it best when I attended the #TCRWP coaching institute in January. "I see you." It was a call to be a writer but isn't that what leadership is like. Creating a story for others to inhabit. #G2Great What story are you telling?
A7 First we NOTICE the good work that teachers are doing and help them to see that as well. We have to have a laser lens and celebrate these things so that we can nurture teacher leadership so they can share with others. #G2Great
A7. Capitalize on Teacher Leader Strengths.
Do they want to grow new areas or expand on current ideas? Let them choose and then take the lead. Alternate roles. Take a step back to allow others to shine!
#g2great#leadership
A7. To best support/celebrate & expand the work of TL's can be to: recognize, HIGHLIGHT & seek to collaborate in the innovations & philosophies that promote triumph/growth, this ='s change in our schools & our Ss
#LitBankStreet#G2Great#HighlighttheGreat
Absolutely! Kindness goes a very long way. I know I shut down when I feel unsure or threatened and that's with all of my experience. If it's a fearful environment it's toxic. #G2Great

@jazzmeister2013, @donohoe_kitty, @DrMaryHoward, @DayOneDrew
A7 If we create a collective spirit of celebratory noticings then we can find the wonderful things that are everywhere. Then we can help teachers maximize those things by sharing them with others. #G2Great
A7. Capitalize on Teacher Leader Strengths.

#g2great#leadership
A7 The idea that everyone is good at something is so critical. When we make time and space for teachers to share those things, then can all grow exponentially! Teacher leadership will then spread like a wildfire across a building. #G2Great
A7: It's hard to rumble with 'what' and 'how' we are learning and what it means for our craft.
However, when you are working with kids;
NOT LEARNING, IS NOT AN OPTION!
#G2Great
