Competitive gaming is making it to the mainstream! Competitions are selling out venues like Madison Square Garden and online streaming of Esports is as popular as viewing of professional athletic events. Colleges are starting to provide scholarships for competitive gaming. It is time to build the pipeline to prepare students for these opportunities while honoring their interests and valuing their skills. This chat is aimed at building a community around the growth of Esports in grades 6 though 12 which will naturally feed into the college programs. Join us for the weekly #EsportsEDU chat at 7:30 pm ET. It is a 30 minute chat that will have one question / topic each week to guide the discussion. Use the hashtag #Esportsedu or join us via participate.com at participate.com/chats/EsportsEDU

Steve from NJ here! I teach game design and development at William Annin Middle School in NJ. #ilovemyjob I am very involved in the #Esports community and have a thriving game club at our middle school. In the process of starting a team at our HS #EsportsEDU
I just became computer club advisor and I have students that want to play in the highschoolesportsleague. There are so many challenges. League of Legends was approved by the board. Aiming for the Winter series since we need to fund raiser for membership $.
Enrollment is going great. Club starts Monday! Running two clubs, Monday and Thursday and then starting something at the high school. Need to get that organized from the ground up #EsportsEDU. How'[s yours?
#EsportsEDU Will from Georgia. Starting @FCHSEsports and we have league of Legends tryouts starting Tuesday. Lots of support from administration and county. Super exciting and stressful!
installed @LeagueOfLegends and created accounts for all computers this week. Gonna try to spark interest in that in addition to everything else :) #EsportsEDU
#EsportsEDU New Club Advisor, teacher, lead learner trying to get these Ss playing tournaments. We do not have fast computers and are brand new. Advice?
So cool, Will! I've been following your journey. I will be picking your brain regarding tryouts and other stuff when our HS team starts to form #EsportsEDU
Happy to check out all the great examples of #EsportsEDU today! I run a Tech Club at my school @SD63Parkland and host regular LAN parties where we play many different games, fix and maintain computer hardware and learn about overclocking.
Hello, #esports fam! Dropping in from Southern California! I’m a media arts teacher, CIO of @ThePioPress and @WestEsportsUS — and have been heavily involved with helping push #Games4Ed across K12 institutions! #EsportsEdu
Hey Sally. Welcome! We are starting to think about fundraising for our HS club as they don't have great equipment there. Hopefully sponsorship will become a thing :) @Dell@Alienware@HP@Acer@AcerEducation Let's get everyone involved! #EsportsEDU

My goal for this year is to establish something at our High School. Plan on getting students involved very soon and having them involved in every aspect of moving forward. Would love to compete in a league this Spring or at least organize some scrimmages #EsportsEDU
My goals this year are to build the G4E team and get kids publishing and working on game related projects. Also to finish up the UCI esports management certificate program. #esportsEDU
For my middle school club I would like to get greater involvement in competitive games like Rocket League, @leagueoflegends and @playoverwatch - certainly in house competitions and some scrimmages with other schools. Who's in? #EsportsEDU
I'm having to rethink my approach to the club. I'm leaning toward Smash Bros and Rocket League. Probably more Rocket League. Going to see about building some computers first. #EsportsEDU

Our goals for the year for our Tech Club are to have at least 4 LAN parties, teach new students how to build and maintain their own computers and support our school. #EsportsEDU
Our question / topic for tonight: What are your goals for #Esports for this school year? Are you starting a club? Thinking about it? Increasing involvement? Interested in helping to coach?
Sorry #esportsedu - coming in late but it's been a sickening day watching political twitter. N from 🇨🇦, #edtech creator/cofounder/enthusiast, and someone who spent way to much time just shocked today. 😲
I'd like to plan a club fund raiser for @ExtraLife4Kids and/or @GameChangerOrg and also some fund raisers for the clubs as I believe we will need equipment for the HS club to be up to par #EsportsEDU

When I left business world and started teaching, the first year I graduated Ss ready to take the A Plus certificate exam. Is it me or did some demographic areas stand still. I know it's not eSports but it's #edtech. #esportsedu
Let’s try to organize some rocket league scrimmages and maybe super smash - that’s huge in our game club #esportsedu do your kids play @LeagueOfLegends

I'm developing similar goals. Kinda realized I can't do anything #esportsedu without PCs. Can work in comp sci and get computers at the same time. Then teach networking with LAN parties.
Hey everyone! James from @PlayVS. We've worked with the high school associations in a number of states to formally sanction esports. We've also announced our partnership with @RiotGames with a really awesome reveal: https://t.co/8WTQ6j6Z2K

Thursday is great. Tuesday is better than Monday. Probably need 6 weeks to get the team up and running. Interest meeting coming up. Tryouts the week after. #esportsEdu
