Tonight's topic is Options, Options, and More Options! We've got five questions lined up with different option plays for you to talk about! #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: On the OL, we essentially block it using outside zone steps, with the exception of the playside tackle. He releases to upfield to avoid the pitch read and seal the first playside inside linebacker #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: we have four different blocking schemes depending on coverage. One is we crack back and pull the right tackle to number 1,2, or 3 depending on coverage #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: If the kid can run at all, then it's effective, in my opinion. QB pull keeps the defense honest. If he gets anywhere from 4-6 yards a pull, that helps us tremendously #TXHSFBCHAT
My bad probably explained wrong. We run it the way you orginally drawn up. Only thing different is we can have Psg climb to back side back instead of staying on the 1Tech. #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: Depends on the defense of the week...if they run a lot of man, then tag it because the give or the pull read would be more effective. If zone, I say keep it on and go with it! #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: In the past we have always had the RPO on. We did put in tags to tell our QB, we “think” this will be there to tell him we want the run. #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: Looking at DE...DE widens, QB keeps, DE squeezes, give the ball. QB has to be patient on the mesh to give time for the pull. Throw the RPO to the back releasing down the hash based on how the OLB comes downhill for the run, or stays back #TXHSFBCHAT
End each RPO with a "blue" or "green" signal, indicating "think run" if you give him the green sign, or "think pass" if given the blue sign. Helps lead the QB to the thinking of, "the run is likely going to be there so just hand it unless..." or vice versa. #txhsfbchat

Not necessarily, you teach the QB to look RPO on the squeeze. He reads from DE to S in this case, because they're in the same field of vision. The back is on a quick seam/beater route, if the QB does pull for the RPO #TXHSFBCHAT
A5: I think what you see most is midline from the gun, with the deep motion for pitch relationship. It's not pure midline, but it's effective and puts defenses in conflict #TXHSFBCHAT
A5: We used to always have problems with our scout team simulating the opponent offense. So we began having a scout team practice. While starters worked on one end of the field the scout team walked through and learned opponents offense on the other end of the field #TXHSFBCHAT

It is tough, and not every QB can do it...It's essentially a triple option RPO. This 3rd option is like teaching the pitch read...its takes time to develop and get the timing just right. Man coverage makes it tough for sure, but a give is never wrong! #TXHSFBCHAT
