Ready to #seesawchat? Join @EdTechJulieJ now to talk about Coding and Seesaw! We hope you can learn and share with us for the next hour. We'll be starting with introductions with questions coming soon!
It's #seesawchat time! Join the conversation and exchange ideas with teachers from around the world! Don't forget to add #seesawchat to your responses!
A1:Coding is different at each age group... K I have used the Bee Bot, and then Dash and Dot... I've used pltw and done Rosie's run time with these ages as well! As they get older I've used Tynker, Scratch Jr. Hour of Code on Khan, and more!#seesawchat
Q1 Yesterday I trained the first grade team, the music teacher, and the tech lab teacher in site PD. Learned basics and the first week after winter break we'll meet again and learn how to use Activities. @Seesaw#seesawchat
A1: I have not used anything yet with my students as far as coding goes. I would definitely have to model what to do for my students when we finally introduce them to coding. #SeesawChat
A2: Rosie's Run Time you can grab for free off of the pltw site, it is all about coding a dog through a maze (a Twister board works). It's all about turning right, left, jumping over mud puddles, collecting bones, and getting to the dog house. Kids have to self check! #seesawchat
A2: Best unplugged #coding activities done so far are Ss coding name w base ten blocks & putting into @Seesaw & then using markers to code @Ozobot to retell a story & share character traits . #seesawchat
A2: I used this one today! It was awesome and FREE! #seesawchat FREE Gingerbread Coding by Brooke Brown - Teach Outside the Box | TpT https://t.co/sp3Dn4VlZg
A2: I worked with an amazing group of K-5 Ts last year to create this website for Ts called Clueless to Coding➡️https://t.co/3tcSKw0fEG Click on "Coding Unplugged" some great resources! #seesawchat
A2: Check out Program a Partner and other new Activities in Seesaw, perfect for introducing coding! Browse the Activity Library to find something your students can watch and create! #seesawcoders#seesawchat
I've loved using her STEM bins in my classroom because they can be as challenging as you want based on the materials and recording sheets. Her December STEM ones are great too! #seesawchat
A3 My students and I LOVED the live webinar with a Seesaw app developer last week. Great way to show what you can create with code #seesawchat#seesawcoders
A3: Ss were so into the webinars @Seesaw provided on how to make an app & design thinking! They loved being creative to design the next @Seesaw feature too! #seesawchat
A4 I love Kodable and Lightbot for primary grades, but @scratch is probably my favorite for the upper grades because it's open ended and has a great community! #seesawchat
A4: Right now I just use @Ozobot & @WonderWorkshop Dash for story telling & in math for using # lines to solve or passing of time. ❤️to hear what others use. #seesawchat
A4: With the the Learn to Code 1 & 2 Teacher Guide from Apple as a resource, students can learn how to code in Swift. Create in Swift Playgrounds and share the results in Seesaw! #seesawchathttps://t.co/JWQg61am6w
I don't have examples w me right now but Ss code the robots to tell a story & w @Ozobot choose code moves appropriate for the character traits & @WonderWorkshop make dash talk & "act" out the story. #Seesawchat

@ElementaryGeek, @Ozobot, @WonderWorkshop, @Ozobot, @WonderWorkshop
A4: So many resources! Pencil Code, Scratch, Made with Code, Thimble, Girls Who Code... Each one was then shared in @Seesaw once Ss were done. https://t.co/ZvSkBXO5ll#seesawchat
A5 Like in other subject areas, Seesaw has been key in making their thinking visible. It gets them to explain their thinking (which can sometimes be a struggle) AND share it with an authentic audience #seesawchat
A5: Ss screen shot projects @WonderWorkshop & record Dash running, @Ozobot marker coded prob are put in as pics & recorded when he follows codes. We have a #coding folder in @Seesaw . #seesawchat
A5: We often pair program, so using @Seesaw is a great way to show students working together. Ss also can take videos of what they’re doing to post and can write about their experience #seesawchat
We also had HS Ss come teach elementary Ss Hour of Code activities. Ts took pics of the older Ss working with the younger Ss. Such an easy way to share out with families! #seesawchat
Just popping in. It's hard for me to add anything since I am still out on disability for my knee replacement. Loving to see the ideas that others are sharing - getting ready go back in the new year. #seesawchat
A4: the @Ozobot can actually run on an iPad screen so you can plan mazes on Seesaw's Drawing tool and easily erase/edit! Plus recording reflections helped thinking! https://t.co/l48k51qwOH#SeesawChat

Two of my favorite things... Seesaw + Coding! The coding activities, and their activities in general, is what sets @Seesaw apart from the parent communication apps that are out now. #seesawchat
A6: Tie coding into the curriculum! @makeymakey with @scratch in Gr4, using @ScratchJr in science and digital storytelling with gr1. @SpheroEdu is another use in Gr8 and HS Physics. There are so many possibilities! Always high interest too #seesawchat
A6: Make curricular links!!! Coding doesn't have to involve a robot or app, unplugged coding can support story retell, spelling, math concepts science etc. All can be documented on Seesaw. Here is a project I did a few years ago https://t.co/fA4LyOcQFl#seesawchat
A6: Make sure to explore the computer science and design thinking activities for all grade levels in the Seesaw Activity Library! #seesawchathttps://t.co/Hhl442hppQ
A6: I used @hourofcode & @seesaw's #CSEdWeek webinars/resources as our kickoff. Each week following I would incorporate a new coding site for my Ss to explore. They would reflect on it using @Seesaw. It was so powerful for my 4th graders to use. https://t.co/z0RfMGzsyF#seesawchat
