The #educoach hashtag is used by instructional coaches around the world. We chat each Wednesday at 8pm CST on Twitter and use the hashtag throughout the week to share resources, ask questions and collaborate with instructional coaches.
Hi, everyone! Lauren, Instructional Coach, Indiana. Looking forward to co-moderating with @realAllisonW tonight! My #eduwin has been reflecting with colleagues and having some powerful conversations to move student learning forward! #educoach
We were wading through a lot of directives and initiatives and were able to drill down and refocus on the true goal-help our ELLs speak authentically. The change in energy was palpable! #educoach
A1. I try to share old thinking with the new thinking & how it shifted. Sometimes it is about sharing perspectives and giving people an opportunity to hear the thinking involved in the shift. #educoach
Wow! Refocusing our goals can lead toward making larger impact. Sounds as if you reached the heart and mind through your conversations while also refocusing on the students. Kudos!! #educoach
Q1-Believe that at our core, all of us are wanting what is best for our kids and speak to that. When you can reach that place, most everyone is open to growth #educoach
#educoach another question I encourage PLCs to ask--- what do the students need us to learn? If we new how to get greater learning result, we would. So if we want a different outcome it means we as educators need to learn
A2-Invite colleagues in to support our own shortcomings and areas of improvement. Let it be understood that we are a community and no one person has it all together #educoach
Really like “if we knew how.” It’s okay to be a learner—I notice that’s sometimes hard for people. Not knowing has a level of vulnerability that not all are comfortable with. #educoach

A2: Often, we have to be willing to name our productive struggles, yet be willing to continue to nudge others to continue forward. Perspective is everything! There are small wins all around us! #educoach

How powerful of a professional development guide is that question? If we looked at our work from that perspective more often, we would experience a lot more clarity #educoach
Relationships come first. There have been so many times when the coaching conversation becomes a life coaching conversation. We are human and our colleagues are human. They have a need to be valued and heard just as much as our students. #educoach
Remove blame from any classroom experience that seemed negative. There is always something that may have been overlooked, undersupported or misunderstood in our dealings with kids that we can have an impact on #educoach
A3 I dont think any of the educators i work with believe their understandings and practice are fixed but my thinking about why they may be reluctant has been greatly influenced by @brightmorningtm "Mind the Gap" #educoach
You can’t argue, persuade, or convince a person who believes to their core that they don’t have what it takes to just keep trying. You have to see things in them that they can’t see themselves and relentlessly tell them that it’s so #educoach
A6: A culture that values risk taking, encourages mistakes because they move you toward growth, and where everyone feels comfortable being their authentic selves. We lead by example and encourage those around us to follow suit. #educoach
Yep! Isn’t that we all strive for? To have someone who helps us see our blind spots, yet is willing to be there alongside us to believe in us even when we don’t believe it. #educoach
A4 I think that data notebooks can have such a powerful effect on a student mindset. When we present learning in a visual way over time it helps students see how their understanding changes and grows. #educoach
A1: I genuinely believe every teacher can grow and I try to show that in all my actions. I also try not to make judgments about the way teachers teach #educoach
A2: Growth mindset comes out of being willing to make mistakes and learn from them. We can be vulnerable and share our failures and what we learned from them #educoach
A8. I have some friends and colleagues who are my go to when I recognize I might be stuck on an idea and it seems a bit fixed, they help to push me & and that’s a big reason how I can grow! #educoach
A3: sometimes people have a fixed mindset when they’re stressed or overwhelmed. Sometimes people need someone to listen and that goes a long way #educoach
