I have been a little absent from the Twitterverse in the last couple weeks - have had some great visits with family and reconnected with Sorority sisters! #IDedchat
Kevin from @LCHSBears in Indianapolis, Indiana. I teach high school science, serve as an eCoach, and serving as the eLearning Specialist for our summer school program. #IDedchat
.@leadedtech I saw a couple of your peeps last Thursday evening at the U of I teacher fair AND I noticed you were just recognized for your awesomeness! #IDedchat
How about since we have a Supt in attendance, we start with how he feels about social media and digital connectivity as a district leader? #idedchat@jonbartelt

Is it bad that a small dose of Tylenol as well on THOSE type of nights when they were super young? I so miss those days with my girls now. They just say “good night” and you never see anything more from them. #IDedchat
Not so much calling you out as much as giving you full RESPECT & Props! I'm so very impressed you are active on Twitter and Voxer! Our district is currently interviewing for a new Supt! I love that you are here tonight! #idedchat
As a district leader in Jerome, I try to model the use of SM for learning and telling the great things going on in our classrooms. We use the #JSD261 hashtag :-) #IDedchat
Social media, for me, is telling my story and my school’s story. I use it to communicate with stakeholders, it’s a means for them to contact me. I’m a teacher 24/7 so I want my stakeholders to be able to get a hold of me if there is an issue. #IDedchat
I know a neighboring district used social media as their main means of promoting a bond issue a few years ago and passed with a high percentage. #idedchat
Wishing your district the best in your search - happy to help your next leader by sharing anything they need to be successful. I was kidding about being called out :) #IDedchat
Our building and district use it to promote our story and all things that are good going on in our buildings. Always want to highlight the good. #idedchat
I think social media is something that cannot be minimized or ignored. It isn't the be-all-end-all but it definitely can be a vital part of a community fabric & interaction. I see it dismissed as a "distraction" far too often. #idedchat
Agreed! While our district doesn't have as a big a presence on Twitter, we have a large following on Facebook both at the District and building levels. Lots of community members follow as well as parents. #IDedchat
I think Social Media can be a great way for a community & a district to have a constant dialog & conversation. Yes it can be messy at times, but working together is so much better than isolated. #idedchat
Many times you find the "messiness" isn't as "bad" as imagined. Most of the folks that interact with us are very positive. We address concerns when they arise - most often with a positive outcome. #IDedchat
Our story is THE story. It gets you it in front of the wave. Prevents false narratives from grabbing hold. We can share activities and create a transparency between the school and stakeholders. #IDedchat
I use @RemindHQ for my golf team, and also for my admins & secretaries for network/tech issues. It has been a great tool! I use it for rec league teams I coach too! #idedchat
Just have to avoid the PD that says "you need to try this" or "here's another great tool to try" stick with what you know until you master it. #idedchat
OK..... a question I have for everyone. What educational book would you recommend teachers read this summer? Why? (You can suggest more than one). #IDedchat
Find one or two, get great at it. It’s the same as standards/indicators. I’d rather know the power indicators with depth than know all of them superficially. #IDedchat
Agreed. And that's what we want for our students. We want them to master the material, even if it ends up being less, as opposed to trying to remember an entire textbook. #idedchat
We did this last week. Has some serious potential. Would like to se more robust opportunities for HS level, but with @google leading, it will come. #IDedchat
Sorry I’m late to the party! Lisa joining in from Lewiston. Just finished Start. Right. Now. Half the book is highlighted—just greatness for Ts or Admin. #IDedchat
Yeah! They are here starting Friday. Can’t wait to see it in person. Seeing it all happening around Idaho has been surreal. #IDedchat#tugtheheartstrings
Does anyone know the title of the book written by a teacher in response to @gcouros Innovator's Mindset? I know that it gives great specific examples of classroom applications...but cant remember the title. #IDedchat
So I can create courses in @CanvasLMS. Lead teachers enter the content. I add sections to the courses. The lead teacher can then push content out directly to the sections instead of sharing to commons then the other teachers having to import into this sections. #IDedchat
We have about 1500 Ss that take summer school in my district. I don’t want to have to import into each class individually so I can push out through blueprint. #IDedchat
It’s still “new” and I’m nervous about bugs. The only thing I’m not sure about is if there needs to be a change after items are shared. The change in one area doesn’t carry over after the content is initially sucked and unlocked. #IDedchat
OK....preview to an upcoming chat. It is April - but what are some things you do in MAY to make it matter...to keep learning the focus to the very end? #IDedchat
@averyteach there is also Making Evaluation Meaningful (also by @MCUSDSupe ) which is a fantastic book that I highly recommend. (Yes, I'm a reader). #IDedchat
It’s all virtual as well. We are working on course content now. Approval from our Dept of Ed. Increasing rigor. We do require our Ss to come in for ECAs. #IDedchat
Hi Tracy! We are "edcamping" tonight. We have talked about social media; book recommendations; now how to keep learning the focus to the last day of school. #IDedchat
Yes, most are getting PE/Health out of the way. Some are Ss who are doing classes at our career center, concentrating on music/band, or are taking AP courses. #IDedchat
I always loved the experimentation with lessons that I did in the last few weeks of school. I tried wilder ideas and also got to use items that came in on grants after the intended units were over. All on topic, but way more fun. #IDedchat
Connect with other classrooms across the country to share and learn from each other, or take a virtual field trip by connecting with a museum or zoo (on rainy days) #IDedchat

Honestly, no. The cost of the classes is one thing that is an incentive. It is very reasonable. #IDedchat. We also work with schools & Ss from throughout Indiana. We have had a student take a class from California in the past. Transferred the credit to the school #IDEdchat
Even still. That is fantastic that your district is able to do such a great job with summer school and have students WANTING to be there rather than being "forced" to go. #idedchat
End of the school year I give activities that blend many different concepts from throughout the year, I give fewer guidelines for Ss, and not as many instructions. #FigureItOut#IDedchat
I think it is a great model for virtual school that can benefit Ss who are behind due to poor grades, those that are self-motivated who want additional challenges, or work at your own pace kiddos. Why hold Ss back? #IDedchat
If you are going to be in Southern Idaho this summer (or would like to make the trek to see our beautiful country), we would love to see you at #edcampidahohttps://t.co/Wvki3rotQZ
