Albert Your quote "Learning is Global" should be in every learning space around the world!

True and then it follows that "global knowledge is global power"
A3: The future belongs to those who can adapt. A global perspective prepares you for that.

A3:Our students are growing up in a global economy and need to be able to connect with different cultures Etc
Yes! We have to do what we can to provide these types of experiences. Love this insight!
NY is the best I can do for now, lol!
So nice and so true, we need to think and be as one, we basically all want the same things IMO.
A4 I think whether global or local, it's being able TO connect. Little PD is valuable, it's choice. Of course perspective 2
I agree & w/tech today, the opportunities U can bring into the CLSRM are endless
A4: the needs on a local level may not correlate to the needs of other countries and vice Versa.

A4: Implications are to make your school/city/community known around the world. We can learn what others have done
A4: It allows Ts to individualize the PL they feel is needed for their own growth. Opportunities are limitless for Ts and Ss
A2: having expert educators who curate content makes it easier to find the good stuff. So many ideas stockpiled for my 1st yr!
Awesome the power of changing one letter!
A4 coaching and sorting time needed to take advantage of all the opportunities available.
A4: Harvesting ideas from around the world and growing them them to custom-fit at home creates a win-win and makes us BETTER!
A3: been said, but let's not forget Ss connect globally already w/ online game play etc...It's time for schools to get on board.
A4: New Zealanders running chats in Texas 😀

Nice, we need to make all our students feel valued on a global level! A4
A4 We get bogged down in what the ISD perceives as the best road, this will expose us to alternative, possibly better ones.
Ts can have personalized PD in topics they need/want. No more cookie cutter lessons. Be real, meaningful, & powerful w/teaching
So true! That is one awesome and very large room! LOL. A4
That is exactly what we were thinking! And during
YES!
A4- We want to help connect students to professionals, Ts to relevant PD and much more!
A4 Vast connections make local learning a thing of the past. The knowledge and expertise of today's world is only a click away.
A4 It might help us crack the case of Ss we can't seem to reach, concepts we have tried to teach&are not shining through to Ss.
A4: local professional learning is no longer confined to who knows what in the building. We have 24/7 access to the world.
The personal touch of a local PLN is imperative, but the inspiration from a global PLN is priceless. https://t.co/GNmGRZSFi1

Q4 What are implications of global connections for local professional learning?
Q4 forums like this one allow us to see what's happening in the world around us. Not just in our area.
Yes, students need to have many teachers and learning inspirations! A4
A4 Our learning grows and hopefully exponentially.
Both essential and important for different reasons IMO.
A4: my global PLN provides an abundance of perspectives, insights, & learning opportunities that greatly impact my leadership
A4 I also think we can see what impact we have on other communities and their learning.
A4 also, I have Skyped with several scientists that have real world experience. Ss LOVE this...so do guest Skypers!
A4 I’m not sure. Let’s find out!
Love the bridges concept. We are all connected whether we like it or not!

A4: It is important that we bring the global perspective into our local issues...our Ss need 2 understand the size of their world
THIS! Hi Rosa. One of my highlights last summer was connecting IRL in that workshop out in CA.
This is really important, most students tend to think small and often only local! A4
True! We must value the PD of other areas. Collaboration! Collaboration!
Q5 Should all teachers be required to be globally connected?
“: Awesome the power of changing one letter! ” Affective empathy & perspective talking must be we
A4: Students/teachers may realize that their points of view are not the only ones, or necessarily the best.
Keeping in mind that it just takes one interaction to inspire😃 https://t.co/9A3SqkDuAY
Yes, students need to have many teachers and learning inspirations! A4
it was GREAT to connect with you, Barbara. :)
Empathy is a key for us to have sustainable connections.
A5 If you create a culture that encourages it (with enthusiasm) then you won't have to require it.
Nice point, often it takes a while to find this one person!
Q5 My hope is that all teachers want to. I don't think "requiring" Ts is what we want. Compliance doesn't work.
Fair enough, what then? A5
A4: Expand your teacher horizons with GC. Learn more. Take risks. Change learning experiences for Ss. Be a game changer for kids.
A5: I believe that all ts should try to be globally connected. Once they try they will require it of themselves.
A5: Absolutely! How will teachers be able to help our students compete in the 21st century if they do not know themselves?
So true There is no excuse for not having time to grow & learn https://t.co/zNXBaXQ8jf
A4: local professional learning is no longer confined to who knows what in the building. We have 24/7 access to the world.
Love the last phrase. Ts have to be the changers! A4
You can't mandate "best practices" ... but all leaders have an ethical imperative to foster them. https://t.co/T95tkaOKPs
Q5 Should all teachers be required to be globally connected?
Nice Albert, nothing beats internal motivation! A5
agree 💯%. Ss live in a fish bowl and do not realize what else is out there. Locally or globally.

Q4 What are implications of global connections for local professional learning?
Q5: Encourage, but don't require. Admin should find ways to encourage / implement a global learning environment.
A5 Made to? Dunno. If belief isn’t there first I don’t think it’d fly. Maybe share learning including where inspiration came from
What if some teachers don't see it as a need?
A5 You can't force teachers to get connected. Let reluctant ones see the success of early adapters.
Awesome participants that's why!
Awesome participants that's why!
A5 not fond of requiring global connections for many reasons. Want to make it irresistible for teachers.
A5, like we do with students, model. Show the power, be evangelist. Like students, everyone needs to learn at own pace.
What if the reluctants don't see no matter how long? A5
What if the reluctants don't see no matter how long? A5
A5 The word "required" makes it a chore, how about we make it our mission to inspire teachers they are compelled!
A4 Connections on Twitter lead me to local events like . Makes big cities seem much smaller when u connect in person!
A5: Ts should be encouraged, trained and supported, but a requirement could turn many off and an opportunity could be lost
Too much PD scratches teachers where they don't itch. Good leaders cultivate strategic itches. https://t.co/19EQKDzt1y
What if some teachers don't see it as a need?
A5: Absolutely! Required is a strong word, but it's like asking "Are teachers required to be lifelong learners?" They better be.
That's why it should be required...they need to grow and see various perspectives!
Great metaphor and some very good advice!
A5: Authentic connection is not mandated...but we need to ensure that they understand the WHY for Ss sake
To some extent, I don't think 100% choice is ok.
A5) It is our duty to be globally connected because our . https://t.co/SnrWyts6k7
Q5 Should all teachers be required to be globally connected?
We shape the future. We need inspiration to take risks do what's best for Ss, even when it's not w/the majority
Nice Asael, love the notion/sense of duty! A5
Agreed! Bc some will never stretch themselves!
Some people get so blinded by the frustrations of being "forced," they miss out on the benefits
Nice idea Amber and sound advice!
A4 Like when the iPad came out.. Or Chrome? I didn’t know I needed one do bad. Share widely and be on the lookout.
Fair enough., how the reluctants be non-forced then into action?
Honestly, once the connection is made, it requires no more effort to connect globally.
Nice! Great advice and perception.
A5: The trick is to inspire them to want to be not force them to be. Show them the educational aspects and not just social.
A5 we can't mandate ethics. If we could, we could change the world. People have to see a need to change. We can only encourage.
Nice Heidi, maybe this is the key, give Ts reflection time to see what should be done!
A5: With any initiative it helps to have a core group of practitioners show how they use it and demonstrate benefits of doing so
It can just become apart of their already required lesson plans and vertical alignment.
a5 if they r serious about preparing our Ss for the future absolutely!
