Morning! Our school has gone 1:1 with Chromebooks in our middle school. Really easy implementation! Happy to answer questions.
Worked on my 30 day yoga challenge
I enjoy that GAFE is always available to them (I am also BYOD) if Ss is more comfortable with that.
My school doesn't use chromebooks. We do have digital devices though.
'Mornin' y'all. Lisa, ESE support facilitation joining in from central Florida.
Good day gang Eric in NJ saying hi
Ss can use the phone apps if it is more comfortable. They decide.
Chromebooks: great when the wireless is working. Has been going down a lot lately. Good thing I always have a plan B!
I need someone to explain GAFE to me.
Megan from Massachusetts, where it's not snowing now, and won't really snow Saturday either! Good luck, mid-Atlantic!
Good morning East Coast edition. Craig, 4th grade teacher from CA
I’ll be lurking this morning as I don’t know much about Chromebooks but am interested to hear what my PLN has to say about it!
I would love to have Chromebooks. Don't get me wrong, iPads are great, but I love Google tools. So, lurk I shall! Have a great Day!
We have chrome books. We use the google drive. Ss can share with me through their email grade 3
Good morning ! Steve from NJ here. What's today's topic?
Good morning from chilly CapReg NY! Can't wait to share about GAFE!
My school is 1:1 w/ iPads, so not much advice on Chromebooks. Google Classroom + Goobric + Doctopus is awesome, however!
Biodigital Human chrome app is great for science/health classes
You have snow? https://t.co/xaJD3IbXmW
Manny from Baltimore here. struggling to not go back to bed and enjoy this 2 hour delay.
Fat cat 7-minute workout is a great Google App for brain breaks/instant activities
I really like that Ss can choose app/extension that works best for them. I learn so much from them!
Chromebooks allow a student experience of discovery at their own pace. Ask a good question, let Ss go for it and collab on Gdocs
Good morning from Massachusetts.
Brian, HS principal
Good luck! Have you tested your district emergency messaging system yet? https://t.co/NrsZ8UKZK6
Good morning PLN! David MS Principal from VA here. Waiting on the snow to arrive. Expecting 8-12". Could miss several days.
GAFE's uncanny ability to allow Ss to work alongside each other in digital space allows collaboration to the nth degree!
I think it should be awesome Steve's and the awesome things they are doing. Need to suggest it. https://t.co/2qtTrmEWyu
Good morning ! Steve from NJ here. What's today's topic?
Google Apps for Education
Great tools to support students' development of electronic portfolios...pics, video, audio, text script...lots of creativity.
Google apps for education (I believe)
Good morning . Stacey from the snow prepping state of NJ.
Yep very little, but enough.
Our teachers have been able to be innovative with the use of + Google Drive together on Chromebooks. Paperless classrooms
Ooooh jealous :) https://t.co/Tv7Y4lwCY2
Morning! Our school has gone 1:1 with Chromebooks in our middle school. Really easy implementation! Happy to answer questions.
Chromebooks and innovating ways of using...
Have a set of chrome books in class entire school will be 1to1 by next Sept.
I'll put Ss work on a G slildes file, share with Ss & have them make comments on following slides. Each can read/comment on others
Craig! Always an honor at 2:30a pacific time.
Can students install their own apps and extensions in your district? Love that!I have to use my admin rights to push to Ss
Bundle up and be safe! https://t.co/9ZaC7IK5mH
Good morning PLN! David MS Principal from VA here. Waiting on the snow to arrive. Expecting 8-12". Could miss several days.
diff between using chrome books and google apps on other devices?
Grace from MA, struggling to stay awake, but happy to join in this morning
I'm having Ss draw 2 characters from books or movies and then animate them through google slides (ex: Mickey meets sponge Bob)
I use Google Classroom & other T's in my building are starting as well. More T's in my school want them-see value-
try I believe the first two weeks are free. I love it. It is my sanity.
Ditto! https://t.co/CqobDWINRg
I’ll be lurking this morning as I don’t know much about Chromebooks but am interested to hear what my PLN has to say about it!
Yes. One of the major reasons I decided on Chromebooks instead of iPads.
Good morning all. I need to learn these GAFE tricks /innovations from you all. I'm not there yet. ...
We r a 1:1 Chromebook school as well. 2nd yr. now. My Ts love them. Key 4 us? Inst. drives the use of tech, not vice versa
Good Morning John From NJ checking in, what is the topic this morning?
That is so cool Kevin! Love it when the kids create!
I have all kids contribute to crowdsourcing class notes via . It becomes a great resource, class textbook
The fast start up time & tool integration with one log in make it so much easier for Ts & Ss to share information
Love the chromebooks. Have carts. Scheduling is an issue. Hoping for 1:1 eventually.
So true! Google is really one of the the only tools to offer this collaboration capability to students! https://t.co/tKxCzTItCs
GAFE's uncanny ability to allow Ss to work alongside each other in digital space allows collaboration to the nth degree!
Chromebooks and GAFE - how we use them creatively in the classroom
I'm using Google Classroom in my paperless classroom - and it's made my life a lot easier and the Ss love it!
Love the fact that our Ss are indeed free to download the apps they need. Train, trust, & verify approach.
I like that my 3rd graders can email me their stories or what they are working on. Use of tech gets them ready for sbac.
. Do you have full functionality of Google Classroom + Goobric + Doctopus on the iPad?
GAFE and CBooks have allowed some of our Ts to go completely paperless.
instead of each S making a foldable in math, they collab on one then all have dig version, thanks to c-books https://t.co/ObMgG7vjxR
Love the paperless! Lighter backpack for me. https://t.co/zMcuh51dBP
I'm using Google Classroom in my paperless classroom - and it's made my life a lot easier and the Ss love it!
We have heavy protection on our site. Ss cannot access any video content tho
I think I've learned more in the past 2 years than in the previous 10! I love it!!
So cool! Do they use Google Drawings to do this?
Good morning Great to be joining in. One way I've seen ppl use GAFE is through adaptive tests on Google Forms.
they're having a blast - 1 S is creating Mickey and myself on a hover board
I almost deleted this and resent it... *grammar police* https://t.co/8PgbQHfvrQ
I think it should be awesome Steve's and the awesome things they are doing. Need to suggest it. https://t.co/2qtTrmEWyu
Good morning ! Steve from NJ here. What's today's topic?
Good Morning Greg. Hope you have an awesome day of learning. Next need a photo of us.
Currently transitioning to Google Classroom. Took a while to get gmail fro all students with a consistent login and password.
I like that Google is constantly updating Google Classroom-VERY receptive to teacher feedback. Always iproving!
We are in year 2 of our 1:1 program w/ Cbooks. Ts love Google Classroom and how it simplifies the work flow.
We will be shortly! I use Remind w/Ps&Ts as a back up!
Ss are connected to Ts Google classroom, great tool. They can access work, research collaborate submit to Ts.
yes they do - they use Google Drawing and then insert that drawing into Google Slides - I'll share an example
We've had some problems w/ Ss adding too many apps & extensions- slows things down, sometimes conflicts.
I found email was one of the best things I ever used with my Ss! I loved that they could email me for any lost hw lol
There is also a great tool bar on google doc that helps with reading and spelling. I believe it is extra $ tho.
Not really. I find the GC Classroom app to be buggy, although it always works when Ss go through Safari.
Will begin the facilitation of Google Classroom for my Ts in Feb.
I have very little to add to this. Many google based things are blocked in my county. not everything. But are a microsoft county.
Chromebooks in the HS math class are the best because they open the door to every day!
is so useful for orgnsizarion. Love using google forms for Ss self reflection, surveys. Google slides for collaboration.
I can't wait 'til some of these kiddos who are immersed in this type of learning get up to me! My HSers aren't "there" yet.
I did this with some Ts at a workshop. They loved that we all had access!
Yes! I like that I can work on their pieces at home
The collaboration piece in is one of the main highlights for me!
This is very true. They have ben great to work with https://t.co/9gfb1GMrfP
I like that Google is constantly updating Google Classroom-VERY receptive to teacher feedback. Always iproving!
our district is just starting ms 360; similar ? I've gotten used to gafe
Google doc also has a place for you to comment AND you can see the revisions
Chromebooks have made it so simple for more of our students to have their own device. We're closer to 1:2 right now.
Totally agree, Keep sending Google GAFE feedback... they really do listen!
Each semester I add in a challenge. Find one I would use and don't know about yet! They have to dig deep!
Kids will find apps, extensions and add-ons on their own to help their learning & share with all. can't do that with a worksheet!
At the same time, as Ts we mustn't fall victim 2 branding GAFE as the end all be all. Plenty of options for collaboration & workflow
I think I need to get more use out of google with my students - on the fast track of T learning thanks
I want to find ways to use google classroom as part of staff meetings, etc. to share resources and learn with staff
Good morning Jerry. I so agree. Pics at and beyond.
Great thing about GAFE ... it works on different computer platforms ...works at home and school
Anyone google certified. I have sorta been working on it.
My district is BYOD so no chrome books, but it am loving Google Drive/Google Classroom for student writing
My district is BYOD so no chrome books, but it am loving Google Drive/Google Classroom for student writing
My Ss also using Google drawing to brainstorm for their writing. It's color coded and easy to follow for all learning
Google classroom is the ideal tool! Allows you to push out a digital wksheet & u have viewing permissions! https://t.co/bKeDCpI1Ma
I'm using Google Classroom in my paperless classroom - and it's made my life a lot easier and the Ss love it!
During Mystery Skypes, we have Google Mappers (ht to students for the jobs), we've also done back channels.
Nice! This is the game changer that has helped me use GC to give Ss more timely & focused feedback: https://t.co/2ndT9s0ZiV .
I have decided NOT to go completely paperless even though my class is 1:1. Think there needs to be a balance.
. interesting statement about Safari browser & GC Thanks for the Tip!
Yes I use classroom for that Ss can find assignments and work , I can grade & comments https://t.co/yZVaMfsKOM
I found email was one of the best things I ever used with my Ss! I loved that they could email me for any lost hw lol
And all of the embedded tools- voice to text, research, citation builder, image search https://t.co/YHmrYhnCkN
Google doc also has a place for you to comment AND you can see the revisions
Tell me more, Denis. I feel like CBs in math is the hardest fit.
The nature of private companies wanting us to only use their specific product makes it hard to blend a lot of them. :/
And that is one of the problems I have with Apple. No way to give real feedback.
: I don't have to wait or pay for upgrades to the GAFE programs. I always seemed a version behind with Microsoft.
Morning, Cathy! How are you today?
I learned that trick from a S - as is the case for much of the tech & apps I use! :)
Ss and Ts have begun to use Google Classroom as a way to connect and learn with things like a Virtual Debate &
Our district makes some extensions available to all, but limits the amount that can be added
Good morning friend! Wish we were closer-I have been 1:1 CB's in my class since last year. I would love to come help you!
We need to use our chromebooks more for students to visit their learning journals to reflect and comment within
many math Ts try to put their current paper world into digital. that's useless. Cbooks allow changes to the questions
What a great, collaborative approach to supporting learning!
Love this Mark Deep in their roots, all flowers keep the light. — Theodore Roethke https://t.co/2ojMMchPlR
Wow, I really needed this.
Yes, MS 365 is similar because they are trying to compete. But the Google features are more seemless
Google Drive/Google classrooms lows me to comment on student work either synchronously or asynchronously. Great for feedback
Yes--I do love how easy it is to give feedback on essays! The auto track changes & comment features are great!
Also be mindful of student data/privacy concerns. Some extensions my use S data in wrong way. https://t.co/J1jvgc5F79
We've had some problems w/ Ss adding too many apps & extensions- slows things down, sometimes conflicts.
Good morning all! Headed to so my schedule's a little wonky - wanted to wish warmth & safety to all the path of
I have a folder in Drive 2 store info for staff (roster, schedules etc). Forms for gathering info (PLC mins). DM me 4 more
I need to explore more apps and extensions and better yet have me and kids create our own!
I'm wondering where mine is at... grr. Will have to follow up if I don't see it in next few days https://t.co/ZmyBIAMY2j
I'm writing a book on integrating google apps for math classroom. IT is the hardest, but because of mindset
I started w/ Google Classroom last year-amazing all the changes they've made. They really listen to T feedback!
I do love my apple devices for me though.
The ease of management and scalability of Chromebooks and are what make them the perfect match for k12 education
I agree with the first part and will have to explore
What are some extensions you guys can't live without for your students?
Good morning! Loving the shirt!! :)
I love I can use on my iPad.
Today my Ss will be using Chrome books to create "baseball cards " of leaders of WWII.
Good morning! Safe travel!
I agree! Much more responsive than other platforms I've used in the past.
Thank you for the sentiments-I only wish I agreed with Linus!
Limits the amount ehh? hmm https://t.co/rdScZWlzF2
Our district makes some extensions available to all, but limits the amount that can be added
I'm using Google docs and drive but our laptops are not chromebooks. My district is really moving w/GAFE & I hope to get certified.
Have you had them use Chrome on the iPads instead of Safari?
thanks - something small and it was the first time the Ss used animation but they love it now!
Desmos has changed the way math can & should be taught. theres no better tool for HS math exploration. Working on elem too
Good morning Connie I give you permission to come to Chattanooga to assist any time.
I know you both also know Edcite is great for different math question types too ;)
Always looking for ways to help teachers go beyond just using GAfE for the sake of use (TY ) https://t.co/QSgBYdY73B
Yes, and you can track their revisions and time spent on task https://t.co/VzcrHiVcpn
Yes--I do love how easy it is to give feedback on essays! The auto track changes & comment features are great!
We use it daily, but only when the lesson is enhanced by the tech. We don't use it just to use it
also makes it so easy to continually remind them to refer to the notes when they need help.
It is common for school districts to be all or nothing around Goo. https://t.co/2Q1CVHWjG7
I have very little to add to this. Many google based things are blocked in my county. not everything. But are a microsoft county.
Getting snow, but NEVER ready for it!
I want to try this!! https://t.co/ngdZ8N5M0I
My Ss also using Google drawing to brainstorm for their writing. It's color coded and easy to follow for all learning
I'm sure it is on its way! Looking forward to your pic!
Chromebooks & Google help our students collaboratively develop, edit & publish like never before. Even with students in Tanzania!
Be careful what you say Greg....... !
Must have indeed! Especially for any tech-savvy teacher! https://t.co/RgKq6vZEyi
. Recently took a workshop about Goobric + Doctopus ~they are a "Must Have" for Teachers & Students using
Nancy from Ohio late today but have 10 Chromebook carts that teaches sign out and use daily
Well , I'm off to start my morning! B sure 2 join Monday at 10pm est. This week's theme: the Out of Control Teacher!
So true! :) Push button, wait for a little bit, and you're good to go. https://t.co/HmrvmEdZKW
The ease of management and scalability of Chromebooks and are what make them the perfect match for k12 education
They can be added once there is a need- just needs to be communicated to our tech folks who can "check into it"
Yes! I have introd that to my elem Ts.
yes; so much easier to transition between tasks and eval of Ss work
this is probably a silly question but how does one become Google certified? Where do I begin?
well then have your guys get in touch with and integrate it into your Qs.
Want to explore crouton to be able to dual boot a chromebook.
I don't care for the Google Classroom app either. My students don't use it nor do I.
Thanks! Sadly, no one asked me what it stood for...😩 They must have sensed I would talk endlessly! 😄
Good morning, Chris, Assistant Principal, CT checking in. Been away from the chat lately- running in the AM.
Google "google certified teacher." link will pop up
