This twitter chat stands for "Wins And Losses Ed Chat" and will be a chat where students reflect on the previous week to celebrate victories and reflect on losses to turn them into victories.

A1: “Where have you grown the most as a teacher in the past year?”
. . . This def remains my biggest area for growth as a teacher. But awesome help from other Ts has helped me turn relationship building from a weakness into a strength. #waledchat#waledchat

A1: being the same each day with each interaction! Our kids and staff know they are getting the same version of me from times of high stress to low. That trait creates a foundation for me to be real with both groups! #waledchat

Me too. I struggled last year. I started the year off so strict that I burned the relationship bridge building materials and never recovered. This year in a new school I decided to be true to myself. I’m goofy and weird. Kind of like high schoolers #waledchat

A2: “Other than Khan Academy, are there any OK options to replace TenMarks next school year for indep., student-driven Math practice?”
. . .I love TenMarks, and after testing lots of programs, Khan seems like the least-worst replacement. Other suggestions? #waledchat#waledchat
#waledchat A1 This is my flowchart for creating relationships in my room that create a dynamic classroom atmosphere. The key... LOVE the kids where they are and for who they are. Then strive to role model the ulitmate teacher descriptors.

"I want to help launch a student-led literary magazine, but I don't know where to start. Is this something I could do alone, or should I work with other Ts (even if they are from a different school) to do this?"

A3: "How can I teach my students so they learn more."
An outside perspective is helpful. And different teachers can point to research I do not know. It is hard to improve without community.
#waledchat
Cross curricular yes and vertical planning! I’m the only teacher for grade 9 and 10 ELA. I need to talk to the 7-8 teacher and 11-12 teacher so we make sure everything flows #waledchat
A3/Q3 Is it important to have a team help support a baby who has been knocked so far in the cracks that they are years below grade level and screaming for help? #waledchat
A3: finding post HS graduation opportunities for students. College is always our goal but discussing options and helping students after test leave us. #waledchat
Yes! Very excited that in a few months @Mrsyrivera and I will be doing a class swap and she is going to share her expertise on the Holocaust with my Ss! It is going to be a great learning experience for them! #waledchat
Had the opportunity to articulate with the high school teachers once. Valuable discussion about historical thinking/writing skills that could take place more often. #waledchat
A4: “How are you giving Ss feedback that is more formative and actionable?”
. . . This week, I started using the Kaizena Add-On to leave audio feedback for my Ss daily Math work (they complete on Google Docs). HUGE improvement from written feedback. #waledchat
#waledchat A4 My next step as an educator is to start presenting about the topics in my book "The Story of Always Believe" My goal is to persuade a campus to become the first ever #AlwaysBelieve school, where every room uses Always Believe in Yourself as the 1st rule.
A4 How will you become a stronger advocate for your children so that they will have the necessary support to help them achieve and allow for no excuses? #waledchat
I'm a big fan of Virtual Reality! Especially after LB got me a Star Wars VR game. I put on the headset and hold a lightsaber and I actually fight Star Wars villains! Feels like I am actually there! #waledchat
Are you learning new information about topics you already “know”@ad pushing yourself out if your comfort zone? Keep learning and be more confident! #waledchat
Seriously, dude, why are you going back to school?! Isn’t your life hectic enough with two boys under 3, a new job, and a million other things?!” #waledchat
https://t.co/aO0cOmz9Pg is my space. Been doing it the last couple of months. Anything and everything literacy there! Love having the chance to reflect on my practices #waledchat
A4: How can you stretch yourself and try things that scare you a little bit, in order to improve student engagement, and relationships with staff and students? #waledchat
Start small and find a core group of people that will buy-in. As they get involved, it will spread like wildfire! Our building used to just have 2 Ts on Twitter. Not the case anymore! Still not perfect, but definitely growing! #waledchat
In reply to
@Dr_Octavius77, @khoggardGRT, @MelissaRathmann
A4-What are your suggestions on creating lessons/a learning environment that is ss centered and engaging and still get to all of the standards you have to teach? #waledchat
A5: “What is the best way to motivate students in the middle of a lengthy, grueling state-mandated assessment?”
. . . We do lots of work around mindsets and reflection b4 & after, but during a test nothing beats chocolate! #waledchat
