A1: I wouldn't be here today if I wasn't curious. I didn't become the educator and man that I am by taking classes, I was curious to learn and check out things that I knew little to nothing about #cuechat
  • makena_robinson Feb 12 @ 10:07 PM EST

A1 #CUEChat #BeFutureReady #CUEBOLD I'm a big believer in getting kids hooked & also that if kids are not excited, they won't buy in. We used this today but most of the kids understand how a circuit works since Sept because they used it then, were hooked and wanted to know how!

    98% of 5 yr old's are @ genius #Creativity level (Dr Land's NASA research - replicated more than a million times https://t.co/Dt34mb1W5M). Q2: What's your guess for the % of 10 year old's who rate at this level? #CUEChat #BeFutureReady #CUEBOLD
  • kenna_etheridge Feb 12 @ 10:15 PM EST
Curiosity is very similar to helping, you can't help those who don't want it, and you can't teach those who aren't curious #cuechat

A1) Opportunities for inquiry over sit and get, not giving students all the answers let them make connections and synthesize...don’t kill curiosity before it has a chance to galvanize #cuechat
  • MsDeFriese Feb 12 @ 10:15 PM EST
A1: CURIOSITY. Ss dig deeper. Research w/ a google search. Ex. This weekend nephew scream/crying over ear ache as I babysat. My niece (1st grade) jumps onto Chromebook & views a YouTube video HOW DO YOU GET AN EAR INFECTION. 🤯 #CueChat
  • DCulberhouse Feb 12 @ 10:15 PM EST
We often have a tendency to treat creativity as an add-on… We have to be willing to begin to dive in and become more knowledgeable about creativity and innovation. It is often misunderstood, and that misunderstanding does more to diminish that enhance it. #cuechat

  • EdTechAntics Feb 12 @ 10:17 PM EST
A2. Maybe 4%. Students are conditioned to be given the one way to find the one correct answer. This is why open ended responses are so difficult and why they feel comfortable when given #bigfrickinpackets. #cuechat

  • MsDeFriese Feb 12 @ 10:21 PM EST

    In reply to @judyblakeney
  • AndersonEdTech Feb 12 @ 10:25 PM EST
A3: This one is probably >1%. Factory style education and jobs for centuries killed creativity and unless you are in the arts, creativity is hard to come by. I'm assuming that many of us in #cuechat tonight may be part of that >1% though!
  • DCulberhouse Feb 12 @ 10:25 PM EST
We wanted flying cars and what we got was automation of jobs… We must realize if it can be codified or automated it will be. It'll be the depth of our humanness & those “soft” skills that will prepare us for the future and the many unknowns it will eventually show us. #cuechat
  • jcorippo Feb 12 @ 10:25 PM EST
Yes. Except it is the sole purpose of school to make us the same. To “fit”. To “go along”. Don’t think so? Read Dumbing Us Down. Read The End of Average. Watch Most Likely to Succeed. School creates sameness. #cuechat @jnxyz

Just did a session on Future Narratives at #DesignCamp. Interviews with leaders who've engaged in organizational transformation have mentioned that if they could do over, they would spend more time creating a future narrative to better drive their transformative efforts #cuechat
