A2: Professional development is very different from classroom instruction. My best PD sessions are when the instructor not only realizes that but also takes advantage of it. #HCPSTeach
That’s one reason I appreciate #springboardpl ... we changed our language ... not trainer, but facilitator ... the focus is now on learning - what is the theme we@want participants to take to their classrooms #HCPSTeach

A3 Our admin team is using more “in the moment” coaching (without evaluation) & we are streamlining our professional learning time/topics with our PLCs ... 67% of my job is PL (changed from PD to Learning for this reason) #HCPSTeach
A3: In the classroom, stop grading everything and allow mastery to inform grades instead. On the inside, start believing that investing in your self is the most valuable thing you can do as a teacher. #HCPSTeach
#HCPSTeach I’ve been in some great PD and some well ..... same with classroom environment. If you are engaged and it suits what you need then it is MAGIC!
#HCPSTeach One of the most valuable resources that t's have is time! We don't want PD that will add something else to our plates necessarily, but we want PD that will offer us strategies and ideas that will make it easier to reach our s's.
A4 I would add “Sometimes you’ve gotten all you can from school or district” ... @EdcampUSA@Twitter chats, @FridayInstitute has some good online courses - I.e., Learning Differences ... create your own 💜 #HCPSTeach
A4: The best professionals in any career are in charge of their own professional growth. It shouldn’t be “rogue,” but rather incendental to success. Teachers need to be taught that seeking out PD is essential - there is so much out there ready to be “taken in.” #HCPSTeach
#HCPSTeach@hopekingteach was so real when she talked too! She shared some of the same struggles that other teachers experience. Her passion for education just naturally spilled over to us! That is what makes good PD...when t's leave feeling a renewed passion for educating s's!
