Allow myself to introduce myself. My name is Terrence Surles and I am an Exceptional Education Interventionist and one of the Deans of Discipline at The Roy Waldron School. #RCSTechChat
Bryan Linnell from Oakland High. Tim McGraw! I’ve actually signed autographs......with my own name, obviously. But they weren’t very happy with me after that!! #RCSTechChat
Hey everybody and welcome to another awesome #rcstechchat. I am Clarissa Miles the Tech Coach at Rockvale Elementary. I have a teacher that tells me I remind her of Katie Holmes...but we all know I don't look like that..lol
Hey everybody and welcome to another awesome #rcstechchat . I am Clarissa Miles the Tech Coach at Rockvale Elementary. I have a teacher that tells me I remind her of Katie Holmes...but we all know I don't look like that..lol
To all of our teachers on tonight please make sure your accounts are NOT set to private. We will not be able to give PD to those who are set to private. No one will see you! #rcstechchat
Q1. Discuss the importance of integrating technology in the classroom? Please answer the tweet with A1 formatting and include the hashtag #rcstechchat on all responses tonight. #RCSTechChat
A1. Technology is essential to success and development of ALL students. We are preparing students for the future. Teachers must use technology to promote and extend student learning daily. #RCSTechChat
A 1. Integrating technology allows me to differentiate lessons to reach each student. It also increases student engagement as I work with others in small groups. #RCSTechChat
A1 We need to reach students where they're at. In today's world they are all at Instagram, so we have to compete. Plus, tech can really enhance lessons & provide even more depth. #rcstechchat
A1- Where do I start?? At this point integrating technology into the classroom is necessary to prepare our students for the future. They will required to work using some form of technology! NO way around it! #RCSTechChat
A1 I ❤️ using tech in the classroom. It allows me to meet my kids on their preferred platform, helps them respond back to me, and keeps everyone engaged! @n2yinc#RCSTechChat
A1: Tech use in the classroom is vital to the needs of 21st century students, without it students will not be prepared for higher education/future job opportunities #rcstechchat
A1. Welive in a world of technology. Everything we do seems to revolve around technology. There are a lot of good resources out there that help support out content and help give students simulations for the content. #RCSTechChat
A1 technology is extremely important since our students are completely inundated with it every day. We need to meet them where they are and that is with technology. #RCSTechChat
A1: I really appreciate the text to speech option for testing. The kids do love their tech and I definitely think they're more comfortable with it as a communication option at times. #rcstechchat
A1: Technology can help students connect to the material by making it more relevant and meaningful to them. I think it’s a balancing act about how much is enough and how much is too much. #RCSTechChat
A1. Technology in the classroom is a MUST! We must equip our students to be successful in future careers. The use of blended learning allows students to navigate their way through many tasks, most through technology, to master standards. Students are more engaged! #RCSTechChat

A1- Where do I start?? At this point integrating technology into the classroom is necessary to prepare our students for the future. They will required to work using some form of technology! NO way around it! #rcstechchat
A1-Working with inclusion students, their attention span is horrible. Technology brings their attention back to what I am doing with them and at times can get them exited about what we are doing because it is technology based. #rcstechchat
A1) Technology is so important! In SpEd and in Education in general, each student learns so differently. Integrating technology helps us reach all learners in one way or another. A student who may not feel comfortable getting up to present may love making a flipgrid!#rcstechchat
Q1. Discuss the importance of integrating technology in the classroom? Please answer the tweet with A1 formatting and include the hashtag #rcstechchat on all responses tonight. #RCSTechChat
A1 technology is essential in classrooms today. We are growing students into adults who can do all the tech stuff required 😜. It’s also great for differentiation and is a great tool to get immediate feedback. #RCSTechChat
A1. Technology in the classroom is a MUST! We must equip our students to be successful in future careers. The use of blended learning allows students to navigate their way through many tasks, most through technology, to master standards. Students are more engaged! #RCSTechChat
A1 - Technology helps me to engage ALL of my students! Tech is our world now, it is easier to meet our students on a platform they are comfortable with and used to. For me music helps me relate! #RCSTechChat
A1 Technology in the classroom has improved student engagement and helps prepare them for the digital world students will encounter after school #rcstechchat
A1: It makes the classroom fun!! My students love technology! If students are using something they love and doing something fun they will learn! It reminds me of the book Teach Like a Pirate by @DaveBurgess! #rcstechchat
A1: Tech in the classroom levels the playing field. Children who couldn't access the materials now can at their own pace on their own level. #rcstechchat
A 1. It is a great way to get students motivated to complete their class work as well as offer a platform for easy student differentiation.
#rcstechchat
A1-The best way to teach our students is to meet them where they’re at in academics. I believe this is just as important in HOW we teach them. They are all more comfortable using technology so integration is meeting them where they’re at. #RCSTechChat
A1 - We live in a very technologically oriented world now. It is vital to the education of our current students in order to equip them for the future.
#rcstechchat
A1: It makes the classroom fun!! My students love technology! If students are using something they love and doing something fun they will learn! It reminds me of the book Teach Like a Pirate by @BurgessDave#rcstechchat
A1- technology integration is very helpful in getting students to buy what you are selling. Students are surrounded by tech all day and everyday. If they come to your classroom and you are not using technology, they could get bored quickly. #RCSTechChat
I think the key to being successful is remembering your audience. I can't expect my GenEd kids and inclusion students to participate in the same ways for the same amount of time. Even with tech, modifications are necessary. #RCSTechChat
Q2. Assistive technology. Share a way you use technology to give student with disabilities access to the curriculum. Please answer the tweet with A2 formatting and include the hashtag #rcstechchat on your response. #RCSTechChat
A2. I use I-Ready, FastForward and other programs to provide access the curriculum. I also use Nearpod and other software to modify content for students. #RCSTechChat
A2: As I said before, text to speech. Let's us slow it down to a pace they're most comfortable with, pause, zoom, etc. Nearpod is something I've been interested in trying out as well #RCSTechChat
A 2. I am a 1:1 device classroom. My students with IEPs struggle with the use of a keyboard in 1st grade. Also the steps to access programs are confusing. The often use ipads instead. #RCSTechChat
I use Edulastic to give all assessments and it is very easy to create Modified versions and assign them to individuals who need them. They are not given a visibly different test and I can include hints to prompt correct answers :)
#rcstechchat
A2 I have a smart board!!! I have many students who can not manipulate a mouse. So the smart board has helped them navigate iReady, News2You, Starfall, etc!! Best device ever!!❤️❤️❤️ @tcarey98#RCSTechChat
A2: I always make sure my students that need access to an online textbook can do so, especially my students that require extended time for assignments #rcstechchat
A2 I make sure students have the opportunity to write with a computer versus handwriting if that’s helpful and give students alternative assignments online versus pencil paper tasks. #RCSTechChat
A1- Where do I start?? At this point integrating technology into the classroom is necessary to prepare our students for the future. They will required to work using some form of technology! NO way around it! #rcstechchat
A2) I love integrating technology through our @n2yinc reading curriculum. Allowing a student to use the computer and listen to the read aloud version of our weekly story is a great alternative if they cannot read out loud on their own. #RCSTechChat
Q2. Assistive technology. Share a way you use technology to give student with disabilities access to the curriculum. Please answer the tweet with A2 formatting and include the hashtag #rcstechchat on your response. #RCSTechChat
A2. I have a fairly non verbal CDC student enjoying his first year without an aide in the clsssrom for about 55 minutes each day. He uses a Dynavox to communicate to me periodically when he wants my attention. #RCSTechChat
A2: I've used immersive reader functions to break the barrier of reading difficulties, and typing responses rather than writing them makes a difference, too. One student said last year, "I couldn't read the words veggie, but now I can." That's what it's all about. #rcstechchat
A2 - Because my classroom is a physical activity class I have not had the need to differentiate my tech for disabled children. Though I have loved the PD's on nearpod and how it can be used!!#RCSTechChat
A2 we use khan academy in my class almost everyday. The kids can also access this at home which really helps with the students that miss a lot due to their disability #RCSTechChat
A2- If you haven't used immersive reader in your Microsoft 365 then you MUST check it out ASAP. It will read to your students!!! #Gamechanger#rcstechchat
A 2:
I use Edulastic to give all assessments and it is very easy to create Modified versions and assign them to individuals who need them. They are not given a visibly different test and I can include hints to prompt correct answers :)
#rcstechchat
A2 I use iReady, imagine learning, and even the SS weekly online to accommodate students with disabilities. I also like to assign books to listen to on epic and then have them answer comprehension questions. #RCSTechChat
A1 integrating technology is very important. Technology can give students access to more information, make lessons more interesting, and add some fun to lessons. #RCSTechChat
A2 - Read aloud features that can be enabled on many websites are very helpful to students who struggle with reading. Some educational websites even allow for varied Lexile levels on the same topic in order to reach all students no matter their reading level. #rcstechchat
Yes! There are SO many students that just can't physically, clearly handwrite. Tech gives opportunities to show what they know in other ways. #rcstechchat
#RCSTechChat A2- I have several students who use a DynaVox. We use these simple communication (my favorite is personal info), making a choice, and recognizing words. Others include eye gaze and one touch buttons.
A2.2: Being able to adjust the font and background color or use line highlighters digitally also levels the playing field for my students. #rcstechchat
A2. We discussed the use of Immersive Reader at one of our PLCs recently. A great way for our students to access the curriculum. I relate to parents often that we need to make sure we are assessing what they know about a topic and not just their ability to read. #RCSTechChat
A2: Being a CDC teacher my students can have a hard time writing. I love using @flipgrid! It is a great way for students to express what they know or have learned about a topic without physically having to write it down. #RCSTechChat
A2: Being a CDC teacher my students can have a hard time writing. I love using @flipgrid! It is a great way for students to express what they know or have learned about a topic without physically having to write it down. #RCSTechChat
A3. Technology allows students increase their confidence through improved communication. This leveling of the playing field is gives students the ability to feel like equals and speak up more. #RCSTechChat
A3: I like the quizlet live option that is available now. The students are forced to work together and figure out the answers and it's awesome! #rcstechchat
A3: Ahhh... My favorite! Instant feedback and collaboration build community and prepare students for to agree and disagree in a positive way digitally. #rcstechchat
Technology is a great way for students to share what they know without the fear of standing up and addressing their peers in person. Many students are afraid of the immediate feedback from peers and teaches. Technology gives them a safe platform
#rcstechchat
A3. To me, it helps level the playing field with different skill levels among students. Easier for some to participate and add to discussions. #RCSTechChat
A3 As an interventionist, I use EasyCBM to track my students progress automatically every two weeks. I go over this data with them individually. It creates stakeholders in the learning process when they see their chart showing improvement #RCSTechChat
A3. I use Seesaw to have student interaction and peer feedback. Students comment back to one another and give them ideas for improvement on a certain strategy, praise for trying something new. It’s just one more way to build community among our class. #RCSTechChat
A3) For nonverbal students, technology can give them a voice. It can allow them to express feelings and thoughts in new ways. Also, partner work with technology allows students to help each other & create something together while they learn!#RCSTechChat
A3: when used right tech tools allow students to work together to create educational products that further their learning. We are currently working in pairs to create powerpoints about all the units we have studied this year #rcstechchat
A3 In my world that falls on the communication devices. Commenting or telling your thoughts to peers relies on Dynavoxs or iPads. I have 3 Sts with devices in my class. We are always trying to get them to comment to each other with them. #RCSTechChat
A3 When students use technology they are more likely to answer a question, exspecially if they are shy. They will participate using tech but they might not in a regular setting. #RCSTechChat
A3: Kahoot Team challenges are my students favorites. They compete for bragging rights and get pretty serious. Typically have every group with full participation. The noise lvl can be chaotic but it's an amazing chaos!
#RCSTechChat
A3-It could seem like it may take away or hinder classroom discussions. But using things like classroom blogs allows children who aren’t comfortable speaking in front of the class the opportunity and the confidence to share with the class. #RCSTechChat
A3: Using it as a tool to review, helps all of us see as a class if we have understood the concept. Students will still answer because it is hidden who they are.
#RCSTechChat
A 3.I use my Promethean board to promote collaboration and discussion. During math explore I turn my tablet into a doc cam. Students present their ideas, projected to the board from their table groups. #RCSTechChat
#RCSTechChat A3- Technology gives us the opportunity to include EVERY student, even those who lack basic communication and motor skills. Inclusion helps promote confidence, while also decreasing behaviors
A3- I think there are many students who are shy and get embarrassed during in class discussion, but since they live in such a technological world, they are more comfortable communicating through technology and will produce more work that way. #rcstechchat
A3: My FAVORITE is @GetKahoot ! Many times I will have students who do not want to participate or cannot focus enough to participate. ALL kids have to participate, and it’s done in a fun way! They get instant feedback which I feel encourages them to try their best! #RCSTechChat
A3- I just feel it helps all students express and have a voice in the classroom. Some students absolutely feel more comfortable by using technology #rcstechchat
A2- we are big fans of Iready math. It’s curriculum based and all of my kids have shown growth using it, including students with SPED IEPs. #rcstechchat
A3: I can use @Quizlet and @Flipgrid among my classes at multiple schools. And Class Dojo is my favorite communication tool with parents. #ClassDojo#RCSTechChat
A3: I can use @Quizlet and @Flipgrid among my classes at multiple schools. And Class Dojo is my favorite communication tool with parents. #ClassDojo#RCSTechChat
A3- I group students together and allow them to “research” a topic with given parameters. It allows for collaboration and accountable talk and they love using technology. #rcstechchat
A3 - Working on research and a presentation project with a partner or in a small group will encourage students to work together. It will also encourage them to share the workload and contribute according to their technology strengths. #rcstechchat
A4 #RCSTechChat I have used a flipped classroom on occasion with my algebra students. Created the lesson and put it on youtube, had them watch it at home, and then we were able to spend the entire day practicing what they already knew.
A4- @classdojo creates a bridge between home and school is so many aspects. It allows parents to see what their children are learning, how they are behaving, whats happening in the school! #THEBEST#RCSTechChat
A 4. My students HATE homework. I did away with traditional homework and gave them access to all of our technology components. I have students who choose playing prodigy and Teach Your Monster To Read over minecraft at home now! #RCSTechChat
Class Dojo for the WIN! I can share video and pictures of my student activities and communicate with parents both privately and as a whole!#RCSTechChat
A4) As a CDC teacher, most of my students do not have their own cell phone. But I do love to use @ClassDojo to communicate with their parents! This eliminates the guess work between us & helps parents & teachers work as a team! #rcstechchat
A2 We can utilize text to speech programs for reading articles and primary sources in history for read aloud accomodations to help with literacy and fluency. #rcstechchat
Q4 iReady is probably the best at this. News 2 You has a student log in also I think. I would love to do videos for my kids when they are home to watch. Just not sure how many would actually take advantage of it. #RCSTechChat
A4: I had a struggling student in one if my math classes last year. We used the flipped classroom model to connect school and home. Seesaw also helps bridge that gap since it has a communication piece and student journal. #rcstechchat
A4: Computer technology allows for contact with parents. Through a website or grades (INOW) students can get help from a teacher's website and parents have access to grades and missing assignments.
#RCSTechChat
A4: @ClassDojo is probably one of the best things I have used as a teacher. It has helped me keep in contact with parents and foster great relationships with them! #RCSTechChat
A4 We use Jupiter to communicate with parents and students. I update my website daily with notes and I am also looking at implementing Imagine Math where the parents can link to their child's account to see their progress to get everyone invested. #RCSTechChat
A4. Kids have the ability to communicate with the teacher so much easier using technology. Teach and students can ask and answer on their own time. It is why podcasts are so popular. #RCSTechChat
A 4. Class dojo makes it VERY easy for me to share student work with parents and send out quick messages to remind parents what we are doing in class. #RCSTechChat
A4. Again, Seesaw. Communicating through the messenger for announcements, posting pictures of things going on daily, and encouraging involvement for all families. I also give in person tutorials on most of the technology we use on parent orientation night. #rcstechchat
A4:
I have found that JupiterEd is a great tool for keeping students and parents up to dare with future assignments, missing work and instructions on what to do when a child is out sick.
#rcstechchat
A4 students can work on iReady at home which is helpful. My middle schooler is assigned lessons on nearpod and quizizz that she can do at home on her own time. #RCSTechChat
A4. I think even something as simple as parents having iNow access has helped. Easier to check missing assignments, etc. More accurate info than from students at times and easier than contacting teacher #RCSTechChat
#RCSTechChat Q4- I have a difficult time finding the time to call multiple parents, so @ClassDojo has been a huge help! Especially because you can send one message to multiple parents, versus sending individual emails.
A4 - Many parents are connected to technology throughout the day. Communicating via email, DoJo, etc. will keep them in the daily loop of classroom happenings, or individual happenings with their personal child. #rcstechchat
I haven’t done it yet, but I think it would be cool to film a YouTube lesson and assign it to my class, that way, parents could see my teaching style, and it could be fun for the parent and student. #RCSTechChat
A4: by using technology to create a flipped classroom, students can learn at home at their own pace before returning school to have that material reinforced through student-centered activities #rcstechchat
#RCSTechChat Q4- I have a difficult time finding the time to call multiple parents, so @ClassDojo has been a huge help! Especially because you can send one message to multiple parents, versus sending individual emails.
A4 - Class Dojo for the WIN! I can share video and pictures of my student activities and communicate with parents both privately and as a whole!#RCSTechChat
A4-Using Twitter for classrooms is a great option! Just allow students to follow the feed and don’t follow anyone at all. It allows info to flow one way. The parents/guardians can respond via email. There are more elaborate ways, but this one is simple to employ. #RCSTechChat
A4- I think there are many great ways to do this, but I still love remind. It’s a great way for students and parents to keep updated from day to day. #rcstechchat
A3 Using technology allows some of the quieter kids to speak up without speaking. Also, it can give those who have a harder time articulating their response verbally a chance to see it and write it. #rcstechchat
A4 I post regular on my classroom twitter page to keep students and parents up to date. We also used to do remind, but have gone away from it since the recent problem with Verizon #rcstechchat
Q5. Explain your philosophy on using technology to motivate and provide a voice to students with disabilities. Remember to place A5 at the beginning of your responses. #RCSTechChat
A5. Student are growing up with Xbox, smartphones and other forms of immediate feedback technology. Students are able to quickly connect and relate to academics integrated with technology. #RCSTechChat
A5 I love apps like @ClassDojo@Seesaw & @nearpod that provide multiple ways for students to present work. Digital portfolios are a great way to do that. #rcstechchat
A5: Technology provides a way for students to connect with each other in a learning environment and learn from each other rather than just chatting and sharing pics or playing games.
#RCSTechChat
A5 pecs books are great but some of our kids who need them are embarrassed by them. Giving them an iPad or another device like a dynovox that can be there voice is hugely empowering. #RCSTechChat
A5 #RCSTechChat I love letting any and all students use technology to enhance their learning experience. One of my favorite is Kahoot. It gives even the quiet kids or kids with special needs a chance to participate and have fun learning.
A5: I allow the use of technology as an incentive for my students with disabilities who get their work done on time, many of them are far more efficient when allowed to do so #rcstechchat
A5 In this day and age students are more comfortable with technology so they use it as their voice and I think it gives them the security they need to speak out and up. #RCSTechChat
A5 - this doesn't apply to a disability but by allowing my students to have a say in the music I use every day it gives ALL types of kids a "voice" and a chance to truly enjoy the activity regardless of what it is!#RCSTechChat
A5- I have one student on an IEP who is reluctant to participate at all. Give her technology, and she is instantly engaged. #awholenewworld#RCSTechChat
A5: I want my children to have a choice. Using technology, my students can choose a learning style that works for them. This may be a visual in flipgrid, a sway though 365, Nearpod assignment, or a PlayPosit. I love that technology gives me so many options
#rcstechchat
A5 bc students with disabilities are shy and won’t speak up it is important to give them a voice by using technology. They will interact and be a part of your class with it. #RCSTechChat
A5. Students need the instant feedback technology gives them. I can engage students only so long, and then it’s time to let them thrive in an area they love. I can still get students to mastery of standards with technology combined with solid engaging teaching. #rcstechchat
A5 I think that educational tools like Prodigy, iReady, etc are great tools to give students the immediate feedback that they need. On a worksheet they could work 20 problems incorrectly and not know. #RCSTechChat
A5: I keep going back to my student who told me that technology allowed her to read the words for the first time. How powerful is that!?! That's my ultimate goal-- to get all my students to a place where learning and growth takes place. #rcstechchat
A5-I believe this allows students with disabilities to answer in their own time. It can take away time constraints and lower the anxiety of ‘answering right now’. #RCSTechChat
A5. I think it helps them to feel like they are part of the discussion which encourages even more participation. The access that the technology creates provides that opportunity when simply reading a text might not. #RCSTechChat
A5 Using tech to motivate and provide a voice w/SWD.. I guess I think why wouldn’t you use tech?! It’s accessible, interesting for them and for me, adaptable, always evolving, and universal! #RCSTechChat
A5 Technology aids in the completion of assignments and allows me to use OneDrive to actively comment and edit papers. Also the anonymous aspect of programs that allow them to submit work and others not know it it theirs is effective. #rcstechchat
A5: Technology allows my students to engage in fun and memorable ways. They come back the next day asking if we're going to do a Kahoot, or a laptop activity!
#RCSTechChat
A5- I think you have to use technology to motivate along with your knowledge of your students. Building strong relationships allows us to use technology strategically with students. Cater to their needs and interests and customize learning for them! #RCSTechChat
A5 - Some students may not want to speak out in class, but may be more comfortable communicating via tech. Most children feel more comfortable with tech than most adults. We must reach them on their academic level, we must reach them on their communication level. #rcstechchat
A 5. Technology allows me to serve a student ON their instructional level. I deliver approx 25% of my instruction whole group and 75% in small group. With tech I am able to have all students participating in productive learning experiences at the same time. #rcstechchat
#RCSTechChat Q5- Providing nonverbal students with the chance to speak using technology will instantly promote engagement and motivation. For other students with disabilities, technology excites them! I’ve found that @GetKahoot also motivates students with friendly competition
Please do not log off tonight until after the FORM is tweeted out for you to complete. The form acts as our sign in sheet! It will go out after question 6. You won't get credit for the chat if you do not complete the form at the end :-) We are almost there folks! #rcstechchat
We are doing great! 1 more question remaining tonight. Remember not to log off until you complete the form. 1 minute warning until Question 6. Remember not to log off until you complete the form. #RCSTechChat
A5)This is a huge purpose of technology in my CDC classroom. Technology gives students their own freedom to speak & give us their thoughts. Technology also meets a sensory need for all of my students. “Brain breaks” on @GoNoodle motivates them to finish their work! #rcstechchat
Q5. Explain your philosophy on using technology to motivate and provide a voice to students with disabilities. Remember to place A5 at the beginning of your responses. #RCSTechChat
A6. In my classroom, technology exposes students to every aspect of life. We discuss things like healthy living using a calorie counting website or navigation using Google Earth. #RCSTechChat
A6: Students will be using phones/computers/electronic devices for the rest of their lives, so getting these devices in their hands to learn digital literacy among other tasks is crucial to a modern eduction #rcstechchat
A6 I am doing a 30 day free trial of @n2yinc#positivity. It is really about self-regulation. Hoping to get it going by the end of the week. I also love @BeLikeBuddy for social story videos! #RCSTechChat
A6 #RCSTechChat I use technology to tell my wife's story of survival every year. Her story is on youtube and so I just search for that for the lesson. Sometimes, life lessons are more important than math.
A5 News 2 you is huge for our CDC students. It has different levels of difficulty. It uses current events to teach life skills like telling time, reading a map, and following a recipe. #RCSTechChat
A6)It seems too simple, but TIMERS! Timers keep my students aware of time, when to finish, when to transition, etc. 9th grade students benefit from this so much bc high school has lots of transitions! #rcstechchat
I spent some time as a PreK Sped EA with the Deaf Ed classroom at Rockvale, before finishing my MAT. The microphone systems they use are VERY neat! #RCSTechChat
A6 Day planners and calendars are now apps on phones and ipads. This is a major life skill task keeping organized and getting everywhere needed on time. #RCSTechChat
A6. In my classroom we use technology to find information to every day questions that come up throughout the day. We use technology to create calendars of events, and to communicate. #rcstechchat
A6: Tech=life skills; Every single time we have a child post online, we're teaching them about writing appropriately for their audience. When they meet deadlines and submit work online, they're gaining familiarity with skills needed in the next phase of life. #rcstechchat
A6: Learning leadership and citizenship through quizlet, creating Nearpod, or even surveys. These are skills they will use in life! #WorkTogether#RCSTechChat
A6. I think technology broadens their world view (hopefully). Easier to access other countries, other's ways of life, etc. Technology brings it home much more than just reading about it. #RCSTechChat
A6 We have taken personality tests and interest inventories as well as looked at potential colleges the students are interested in. Also, the use of alarms and timers have helped with time management. #rcstechchat
A6: Technology is always going to be out there. Some jobs you can't even fill out a paper application, you have to learn technology. I think it is important students know how to use technology to look for jobs and apply for jobs.
#RCSTechChat
A6: I teach a workshop on credible sources for essays. giving them those skills early on in class and working on building that carries over into real-world situations. I stress that bridge to "IRL" with nearly evrythng we do. Tech helps build that bridge #rcstechchat
A6 technology helps students with a lot of different life skills. Typing, navigating through apps, internet safety, and using a calculator are a few I can think of off the top of my head. #RCSTechChat
A6 - Music editing programs and most importantly to me in health class... DIGITAL SAFETY! We talk lots of apps and how to use (or not use) them responsibly! I am blessed my students are so open with me! #RCSTechChat
A6 with tools like LinkedIn and other job finding services it is very important for kids to be able to use technology. If they can show an aptitude for technology it might help them get a job even though they might not otherwise be able to compete in the job market. #RCSTechChat
OOPS! That was A 6!
@LPSRister
I spent some time as a PreK Sped EA with the Deaf Ed classroom at Rockvale, before finishing my MAT. The microphone systems they use are VERY neat! #RCSTechChat
#RCSTechChat Q6- I believe typing is an essential life skill. We type on our phones and computers more than we write now. I also want to do a better job of teaching students to navigate websites, use Siri and google, calendars/alarms on phones, banking apps, etc.
A6- technology is everhwere and will continue to grow. Our students are comfortable with technology, however we have to help them utilize their strengths in technology to become successful adults. #rcstechchat
A6 - There are many Apps that can assist them with healthy eating, exercising, logging time on technology, etc. Teaching them that anything they put on a social media forum can be viewed by many people and for a long time in the future. #rcstechchat
A6 News 2 you is huge for our CDC students. It has different levels of difficulty. It uses current events to teach life skills like telling time, reading a map, and following a recipe. #RCSTechChat
A6- Yall I have to say it...ALEXA! Before I got to bed I have Alexa lock my doors, turn on my heat, turn out my lights and set my alarm. I think we will continue to see The @amazonecho and Google home tools do more and more. This is huge for those with disabilities #rcstechchat
My son, who has special needs, has been working on a device called a TOBII that allows him to communicate using his device. It’s been great, since he is almost nonverbal. He can press a button and ask questions, tell his feelings, etc. #RCSTechChat
