Hi Tom Ashley here, TOSA Tech Coach at @PalomaValley in the @puhsd. I have the same plan for Spring Break as I had for Winter Break and my time off in Feb: Clean out my garage! #IEedchat
A0: Jonathan Synnott, Tech TOSA at Perris Union HSD. Over Spring Break I’m going to read a lot and practice coding with Python on my Raspberry Pi. #IEedchat
A1: My fav speaker was at the CUE area in the exhibit hall. @jswilliams Joe Williams never missed an opportunity to explain why he wants to be a CUE Board Member at the meet the candidates forums. "Prof. growth opportunities must be our focus." Vote for Joe Williams! #IEedchat
A1b: I have found that the best presentations at conferences are when the presenter is over-prepared and agile enough to make change when needed. Just like teachers do everyday.
#ieedchat
A1: I really enjoyed @TheTechRabbi in his session on Empowering Ss through Media creation he gave me all sorts of ideas to allow kids to think and produce products in a digital medium using Adobe Spark #ieedchat
A1b: Presentations that leave the attendee with go-to resources that you can take back to you school are awesome. But, the philosopher-kings/queens that inspire me are the best. #notthateasytoinspireme#IEedchat
A1- I attended to GREAT sessions. @lhighfill did a session on youtube curation using #hyperdocs and @KQEDedspace Led a 3 hour session on adding media to lessons to encourage critical thinking #IEedchat
A1b:
INTERACTION.
We remember what we do (as participants).
INSTRUCTION
Focus on learning in the classroom, and what's done to enhance it.
Tools are cool; sticking to teaching and learning carries better momentum.
#IEedchat
A1B:I enjoyed all the sessions I went to, but I pre-planned it weeks in advance. If I didn't make it I was able to gather the resources from the session on https://t.co/sttDhq8MmS or by messaging presenters on Twitter. Thanks @lhighfill she sent me her resources #ieedchat
A2: Our techs showed me the notes they created at #cue18 with some of their ideas to submit their own presentation for the Menifee Google Educator Summer Camp. https://t.co/Ts8Qzfj1Wz#IEedchat
A2: As a Tech TOSA, I will be looking for opportunities to come alongside my colleagues and sharing what I’ve learned at #CUE18. I will also share out in both our district and site Educational Technology Committee meetings. #IEedchat
A2: If your school has common collaboration time, invite Ts to meet you and share out what you learned. It doesn't have to be a major production. #IEedchat
A1b- I love when the participants "share wisdom” or related examples with one another and when the presenters are flexible enough to “allow” it. #IEedchat
A2: I create a folder for each conference I attend, I then place copies of resources in there. I also take notes on docs and place them in the same folder. I always share with as many colleagues as I can when I return to campus. I will probably do a demo slam on friday #ieedchat
A2B:I am never content with where I am at, there is always room for growth. CUE allows me to find those that are reaching further and pushing the limits for the benefit of Ts and Ss #IEedchat
A2b: #CUE18 influenced me to always look for opportunities to make lessons more engaging through the varied use of educational technology. There are so many tools out there. Just have to choose the right one for the job. #IEedchat
A2b: Big conferences like CUE and ISTE remind me that the only CONSTANT in life is CHANGE. Not all change is good, so you have to be discerning as you attend. #IEedchat
...Maybe at least department meetings.
I remember roping y'all into some of my crazy ideas back in the day. Not super frequent but it could be a start.
#IEedchat
A2b:
engagement and performance
It's part of teaching and learning. Just the sharing of information is not sufficient to build up the masses;
in short - take risks, reflect, build, together
#IEedchat
A3- I always try to implement AT LEAST one new thing I learned the very next week. If it isn’t entirely new, I try to use new information to “tweak” previously planned lessons. #IEedchat
A3: As an English teacher, I thoroughly enjoyed the #CUE18 keynote by @meredeetch. One thing she said was “Change the world by being yourself".
#IEedchat
A3: Jasmine Wright’s #pushthrough woke me up and got me ready for the conference. If it could do that for me, I’m sure it could do the same for students. #IEedchat#CUE18
A3: Jasmine Wright’s #pushthrough woke me up and got me ready for the conference. If it could do that for me, I’m sure it could do the same for students. #IEedchat#CUE18
Q2b: I am not sure if I can fit everything that #cue has done for me professionally in a tweet. But, Growth, Passion, connections, ownership, ideas, technology.... my redound love for what I do. #IEedchat
A3: I had two that spoke to me in different ways. @jmattmiller inspired me to keep being a maverick and take chances. @meredeetch was inspiring to me on a personal level. #IEedchat
A3b: For something like #CUE18, I would want to see someone that represents triumph over struggle that also has a deep connection to California. How about @DoloresHuertaFD#IEedchat
A3b: I would like to get the students from MSD High School in Parkland, FL. to come speak to us. #MarchForOurLives. Or, I would love to see a really sharp futurist explain where our economy is going and explain how we should get out in front of it. #IEedchat
A3:
I'd like to see #CUE18 startup something like #ShadowCon18 (or previous years) that NCTM puts on.
Strong short messages with a charge at the end. And a collaborative follow up.
#IEedchat
A3B: I would love to hear @SonnyBWilliams talk to educators at #CUE18 about his upbringing and how his constant hard work and dedication make him such a superstar person and Rugby Player #ieedchat
FT:
Coming back from a conference and not sharing is like being constipated.
It needs to be processed. And the series needs to be repeated for proper health.
#IEedchat
A1: @alicekeeler Google tips part 1&2 dropped some serious tips along with research backed reasons to get with 21st learning strategies and student academic discourse. Relationships and engagement being the core of what has to happen first and often. #ieedchat#cue18
FT: Conferences allow you to continue what you learned in sessions in social settings, this can create great team building and bonding. Ask the Synnott brothers about their CUE Karaoke performance, those guys rock #IEedchat
FT2:
Conferences are also about networking; coming together as a group and building relationships. This is always a plus for me. You never know who you might impact over time.
